Love the zero waste ethos. Food was interesting as well as delicious. Good service and, for a tasting menu, the price was pretty good too.

Booked my trendy daughter, read some previous reviews so was dubious. The place is a delight. Charming service, spaced out tables, sane wine prices and beautiful cooking. Ignore comments about being hungry at the end, we were sated. The bill for 3 came to £340 which included 2 bottles of wine and a couple of glasses. I will definitely return.

This was our second visit to Silo and we were a little disappointed - primarily with the service. We booked a table at 8.30 but didn't get seated until 8.50 and service was then very slow - no food or drink even offered until after 9 and by 9.30 we had only had one course of food. Our bread was entirely missed until pointed out. The whole meal took 3 hours, which was too slow paced. On the positive side much of the food was delicious - the tomatoes, green beans, pork, mushroom and ice cream sandwich were highlights, as was the bread when it eventually came! We also had an issue with one of the bottles of wine (it was a natural wine that we found too acidic) and our waiter was awesome and replaced it without charge. Last time we sat at the bar and interacted a lot with Chef Will and perhaps that made it much more special as he had great energy and you could feel the passion he has for the food. It was a little disappointing therefore to go back with my sister who was visiting from Scotland for a second special meal but find the service mediocre.

We were really looking forward to our dining experience at Silo. Their ethos and zero-waste sustainable dining practice were a real draw and we were looking forward to trying the delights. You have to take the all in menu when dining in the evening, which we knew, it’s a 7-course tasting menu priced at 75pp. The food is generally underwhelming, over salted and many of the oils and dressing make the overall dishes quite acrid and unpleasant. Especially poor was the main pork dish, the fat was not rendered, the meat was dry, an unpleasant charred finish to the edge and the vegetables were also bitter overall giving a very average dish. The wild rabbit dumpling was also a real disappointment, so heavily seasoned with Szechuan pepper, it overpowered and again created a very bitter unbalanced dish. Small portions throughout e.g. 3 small half pieces (well 2 and a crust) pieces of bread between 2 people, 2 small slivers of onion each for the Grilled Troy onion, venison garum, black garlic dish…. Highlights of the menu: Koji quaver, treacle, goat's cheese starter plate, the flavour of the tomatoes in the Flourish tomatoes, hemp ricotta, mutton garamel dish and the dessert ice-cream dishes (however disappointed both desserts were ice-cream, not expected for fine dining, and showing a lack of variety here). We did wine by the glass, prices are around 8-15 per glass, or starting from 50 per bottle. Pleasant wines, but a little overpriced for sure. I applaud Silo for the concept, but the execution needs work and the dishes need elevation and better balance. The overall ambience is clean/scandi if a little bland. The servers were very polite if a little passive and the whole place could have done with an injection of personality over pretence. Overall I wouldn’t recommend, and would advise many better tasting menus.

On Saturday we enjoyed an incredible dining experience at Silo. Situated on the outskirts of the Olympic Park with in a lovely location by the river is where you’ll find the restaurant. Silo is a No Waste restaurant priding itself on sustainability , foraged ingredients and fermentation to produce which I can now say dishes of amazing skill and most importantly flavour. We arrived to receive a lovely friendly welcome before being seated at the chef’s counter. Here we were not only able to chat with head chef Will but also the rest of the team. It was also amazing to watch and learn about each dish being created. The menu consists of a All In and a Short List tasting menu. There is also an opportunity to include a wine pairing if you wish. Our afternoon started with a complimentary glass of bubbles before deciding to go with the All In menu. You start with the Snacks that included the Koji Quaver , The Siloaf bread and butter before finishing with the Grilled Troy Onion. We were already being blown away by the flavours and couldn’t wait for what was to follow. This would be in the form of a delightful and refreshing dish of Tomatoes with ricotta followed by the incredible Smoked Pink Fir Potato. If this wasn’t enough then the Wild Rabbit in a sourdough dim sum was simply genius. This led us to the main courses of Oyster Mushroom and the Bruntona Pork. The mushroom was amazing and the pork was stunning. We were just loving every single dish that was put in front of us. We also enjoyed the cocktails and wine including the Forest Negroni , Walnut Old Fashioned and the Skin Contact Orange Wine from Emilia Romagna. Now it was time for desserts which started with the Pirate Rice Amazake and finished with the Siloaf Ice Cream Sandwich. Before finishing with tea and coffee Will took us for a short tour of the restaurant. Here we got to see and hear about all the processes that go in to creating every dish and how they use leftovers to invent new dishes. It really was amazing to listen to. We then headed back to our seats to enjoy our tea which brought to an end a truly fabulous afternoon. The food created by Will and his team was simply outstanding , the friendliness and service from the whole team was first class. So this will come as no surprise when I say that Silo is a must visit and one we will be looking to experience again very soon. Thank You Will and all your team for a fantastic dining experience and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

A top restaurant to dine at while in London. Feel like they are a few steps ahead of other restaurants. The creativity is unmatched. The sustainability of what they are doing is respectable. Love their food.

Food concept and quality, great. Service, great. Wine, lovely. Quantity, terrible. Left hungry and had to eat elsewhere afterwards after spending £150 per head. There may be zero waste but that’s possibly because there’s almost zero on the plate. The first course was a single Brussel sprout each. Another course was a single sliver of lamb. A single dumpling. All very nice, but you should never leave a restaurant hungry and I have.

Another incredible night, Silo never fails! It was the third and final evening of their invasive species series- Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall being the guest of honor! Dishes were once again fabulous, sampling Himalayan Balsam as well as some ingredients we enjoyed at the first one. The american signal crayfish tart is to die for, and I loved the Koji emulsion served with tropea which I had never heard of. They have a great drinks menu too. It is not often that I continue to return to a restaurant, but Silo really is something special. Well done Douglas and the team (bring it back next year!)

I don't normally review restaurants, but my family and i had the taster menu last week and it has been on my mind since. I read the the old review by the Guardian but thought it may have been a bit harsh and should judge ourselves, unfortunately it was spot on. Our waiter was very pleasant and knowledgeable, food was seasoned and cooked very well that's the pros. The cons. service was very slow we arrived at 7.30 and received our first corse around 8.20. Food portions extremely small for example 6 marinated mussels to share between 2, One ravioli to share had to cut in half, half of a chicken breast to share and so on. Would it bankrupt Silo to plate one our even two Ravioli per person? I don't know if i am in the minority but i go to a restaurant to enjoy my food and come away contented not feeling mugged. Total cost with wine £454.00 for four. Not a lot these days one could say. I have eaten taster menus in dozens of restaurants ranging from £55.00 to £300.00 a head but this has to be the worst value for money. I can't help think that some of the 5 star reviews may be the Emperor's new clothes syndrome.

Exquisite food, stunning setting but a couple of unforced errors detracts from the overall experience. The food is absolutely fantastic at a very reasonable price point. The zero waste ethos makes total sense and makes it a unique experience. On par or better than some other local restaurants which have a single Michelin Star, at considerably less cost. Everything served was imaginative, bold and interesting. There are two main problems which do detract from the above, and these are things that have been pointed out by other customers. Firstly the portion sizes are not generous: from a party of four two were left quite hungry by the end. It feels like it is not only too little... but far too little. Be more generous to your customers please! This is amplified by the second issue which is that the gap between courses is long, meaning that any momentum (or loss of hunger) can be quickly lost and the 3 hour-ish sitting means you really feel the small portion sizes. The food is fantastic but be more generous - its such an important part of dining out to feel like you've been well fed!

Awesome meal. Great atmosphere, wonderful tasting menu and friendly staff. Love the whole this behind the restaurant. The tasting menu was very reasonably priced. And the food itself was amazing. Each dish was so well thought through with a story behind it. The staff were all knowledgeable and passionate about the food. The way they use everything with no waste is ingenious. We enjoyed sitting at the counter seeing the chefs in action. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!

Unfortunately I can’t think of any positives other than my friends I had dinner with . Very unfriendly and unprofessional service. We loved the idea of a zero waste restaurant but was a big disappointment . We came to wine event and the wine wasn’t matched the food. Food was not good at all. It felt more like a school project run by students than fine dining .

The main thing, served in unlimited quantities here, is virtue signaling. You go there to eat the concept not food, which is passable, but nothing to write home about. If you don't find pretentiousness palatable, this place isn't for you. If you do, and don't know how to get rid of your money, then it is. Full marks for choosing the location, though. It's lovely.

We have been to Silo before, and were very impressed. We went again on Tuesday as they had the first of their 3 part specials on 'invasive species'. They worked in collaboration with Matt Orlando to create this phenomenal dining experience. The night opened with a Japanes Knotweed Sour Beer brewed with Crate (the brewery downstairs). Very Sour! Food wise, we then tucked into grilled knotweed shoots, Pacific Oyster and Fermented Potato bread. The Pacific Oyster was my husbands favourite of the night. Then we moved onto a Crayfish tart (my favourite), Lions mane mushroom, Squirrel Kofta, Muntjac Broth, muntjac and Venison Garum Parfait. In my opinion the parfait was too big by that stage of the meal- very rich and rather late in the evening after very generous portions. Still, very tasty. They also brought along more bread which is always a winner! Finally, we finished with a Japanese Knotweed Sundae. The courses were generous and super tasty. The talk and education was brilliant. The staff were so friendly. My husband and I also enjoyed a cocktail, a bottle of Olivers Cider and a lovely wine. Great evening and would recommend people to sign up for part 2 and 3!

We booked a table as a euro 2024 package to watch the England v Denmark game & were given a table where we could not see the TV. I asked the bar man if we could move & was told a flat no. There was zero effort or customer service. If they didn’t have room, they should have declined our booking & we could have gone elsewhere. The food was really average & the glass collector was rude when I tried to move seats so I could actually see the TV, told me I was blocking his way when I wasn’t. Overall really poor customer service and a grim experience. I would not recommend and won’t visit again. Definitely a pub to avoid!
