Great vegan options, friendly staff, lovely ambiance, great location, good value for money

Good arts venue bar serving a few simple plates. Very convenient for station and city centre.

Booked a table well in advance but they forgot to reserve it. Service very slow. Food was awful. The so called steak was chunks of scrag end. It was so tough and fatty that I nearly choked on it, genuinely, and it was covered in salt too. Dreadful. Avoid.

I've lived in Sheffield over 3 years now yet don't get out much as there doesn't seem to be much to do (for someone like me), and most places aren't wheelchair accessible. For some reason I seem to have visited the Showroom more than any other place, because there's simply not much going on here, or any accessible venues. So I'm grateful for this one. But I digress. First half of review is for restaurant, second is the cinema: The new menu is decent, tho there's a lot of similar items and I prefer diversity. I'm sad they no longer have the pork pibil - it was the one fairly authentic mexican dish (tho not the corn cakes that came with it) in the whole city, and now it's gone. They've now got a banh mi and tho it's missing some of the toppings, the meat itself tastes authentic Vietnamese so kudos! I also had a delicious cheesesteak sandwich, but it rlly needs green bell pepper... not red, not yellow. Their baked goods are always very good and I'm especially fond of the apricot oat bar. Not a wine drinker so can't comment on their wine, but I'd like to see some craft cocktails - maybe a Bramble, and perhaps Mai Tai in Summer? I know, I can't have it all. The decor isn't for me as I'm a maximalist and it's very modern minimalist industrial, but it's easy to manoeuvre about in a wheelchair, other than the doors which I often need help with. The employees seem pleasant and that's always a bonus. Service is better than at a lot of places, and as a disabled woman I'm never ignored as I often am at Sheffield businesses/establishments. Now for the Cinema - seen about 9 films here + taken a Film Course which I loved. Unfortunately you cannot reserve the disabeld seating so often I'll find able-bodied folks in the seats I need to use and they refuse to move, but other than that I can't complain. Employees help me carry drinks or popcorn if needed and seem happy to do it. The screens and sound are fine. I do wish they experimented a bit more with programming. You really need to show the next Anna Biller film! I'd love if they did themed nights and showed obscure films both new & old (I've been trying to work with a cinema to put on a cult night with programming like that forever). The David Cronenberg course was fun, it wasn't as cerebral as I'd liked, but hope they do another next year now that lockdown is over. A Horror, Scorsese, Almodovar, or Truffaut would be right up my street, if anyone's listening.

The Showroom Cafe is a fun place to be when it is quiet. Service is friendly but very slow mainly as they are often understaffed. The food is not great. Only recently I attended a morning event there and they gave us frozen pastires - mine had ice in it. Where in the world can you not get fresh items from a bakery in the morning?

I hadn't been here for over a decade. The last time I visited, the food was quite posh and I didn't enjoy it. This time it was truly excellent, the whole menu is soul food and I am here for it. Coffee, atmosphere, bathrooms, service... All was great. I will be back!

This is one of my top picks for co-working spaces if you don't mind a bit of background noise and some busy periods. They do a reasonably priced unlimited drinks deal and do a fantastic cooked breakfast. Staff were so helpful and friendly, and clued up about allergies. Can't fault it.

Beer tasted like still got pipewash in ,took ages to get served even tho not that busy

I ordered the Showroom salad - £12 - with halloumi but when it arrived,it was a large helping of frizee lettuce, a few slices of cucumber, about 4 cherry tomatoes and some halloumi fries. I had to queue up again at the bar to ask for the missing ingredients which were then delivered in a dish with a lukewarm apology. I like the atmosphere here but there don’t seem to be enough staff and it’s expensive for what you get.

Great cafe, part of a great independent cinema. Highly recommended before/after a film, or as a stop near Sheffield Station.

Used to go here a lot for food before a film, but the menu changed recently and is now very average.

I had a wonderful 50th Birthday party in The Showroom Cafe on 11 March 2023! The whole team were so helpful from the start and they went over and above to ensure I had what I wanted in way of celebrations. Great service, food, music system and venue with the flexibility to personalise the space for my bespoke party! Friends and family gave super feedback x

Had a coffee and worked for while with a colleague in here. Coffee is excellent staff really friendly and the location is very good.

Excellent. Couldn't be better. Home made food. Including the ice cream. Coffee expertly made. Lovely atmosphere. Films and cafe/bar experience obviously enjoyed by all customers. Friendly staff. Good selection of slvoholic drinks including real ale.

My favourite venue in Sheffield to meet friends, have a snack and see a film

Three of us decided to have something to eat before watching our film. This was around 17:00 (22/9/22) in the Showroom cafe We decided on the £6 Beef Lasagna displayed at the bar and one portion of chips (at an astounding £4 for about 20 chips in a dish !). Big mistake as we discovered all the lasagna's were dried up having being sat under heating lamp/plate probably for ages. Later, after we'd watched our film (20:45), my friend went to complain to the bar manager about our meals but the managers attitude was "But you ate it didn't you ? What do you want me to do about it ?" (we hadn't and had left at least half of it as not really very edible). My friend said to the manager he didn't seem bothered about his complaint and his attitude was "You're right I'm not". Appalling customer service and rude attitude which the Showroom higher management need to be aware of how they are treating it's customers. Disgusting !

This is a great place for food and drink. Varied, clearly explained menu. Interesting meat and fish meals with plenty of options for vegans including cakes. Help yourself to water from the dispenser. As it's close to the railway station, I always wait for my train here, great coffee and a comfortable environment if you're on your own. Everything is very clean including the toilets. The staff always make you feel welcome.

Came here for some lunch while waiting for a changeover train and was not disappointed. My wife and I had a hotdogs and a coffee each and was very impressed. Didnt think I could be so happy after a hotdogs and chips but the showroom were able to elevate the meal perfectly. The pretzel roll in comes in was beautiful, sausage was delectable and the chips were well cooked and seasoned exceptionally. Amazing service complimented a well earned lunch and the cleanliness of the place and its facilities were on point. Will be returning next time we are in Sheffield

I think that the Showroom Cinema and Cafe Bar is one of Sheffield secrets. It's great to be able to support this independent Cinema, they have a much wider choice of films that any of the others. The prices aren't bad either. The Cafe Bar, is also excellent, good food and good drinks. And some yummy cake! If you are in the area pop in for some tea or coffee and Cake, you won't be disappointed. Don't forget to check out the film's coming up either.

I had an excellent goat cheese salad here. It was so big that I took it away and had some for my tea. Very good.

don't know what was going on today but the food was terrible, burger the size of a golf ball completely overcooked, hot brisket sandwich, cold, chips soggy. Had good food before but today was shocking.

Lovely, relaxing venue with really tasty food. I had ordered the beef brisket with chips which exceeded what I expected. It wasn't dry at all. Chips were abit on the soft side but still edible. We had also asked for some crayons to keep our little one occupied knowing that there was a chance that we wouldn't get any. One of the staff called Julie was really helpful, friendly and attentive to our needs and managed to find some for us which gave us extra time to enjoy our drinks.

Little slow on delivering orders, but as I was in no rush it didn't matter.

Great place to relax and grab a drink or something to eat pre or post film. Good menu and good selection of wines and beer. Equally good as a place to meet up with friends for a coffee or just to while away some time alone on one of the comfy sofas with a drink and a snack. Friendly atmosphere and good outdoor seating area.

25 minutes for a sausage sandwich, and so missed start of film.

Early doors film 13th February Not impressed! 12 miles plus expence only to be told it was cancelled and the showing moved to11/2 hours later .

Had a lunch and afternoon film, food was well prepared and good quality. Cinema and cafe all accessible and choices for places to park wheelchair, so you don't have to strain your neck to see the screen.

Service was a bit slow and it baffles me that they stop serving food just before dinnertime, but the beers were nice and cheap and the environment is nice. I'd go back.

Tuesday night dinner. They called it Fish & Chips on the menu. It was bad. A soggy jumble of potatoe cuttings under an overdone pollock offering that would not have been out of place at a pagan ritual. The potatoe things were jacket fries, jumbo chips, steak chips and others with a distinctive "boiled in oil" floppiness rather than crisply fried. There was also a film quiz going on. 60 questions, sample: "Please put the following 3 films in order of running time..." Yeah, right!

Lovely food at reasonable price. The place can get a little busy over lunchtime but that only shows how great it is. I had eggs Royale and they were amazing. Perfectly cooked with generous portion of salmon. Would go back again.

The food was adequate if a little overpriced, but the service was poor & I received no apology when a staff accident saw broken glass hurled in my direction. I did not stay for dessert.

Great place to meet up and get a drink

I've been to the cafe a few times and always found the cafe disappointing. They always seem understaffed and the staff don't seem particularly interested in customer service. We came here before a documentary screening as we wanted a drink before the film, but there was only 1 poor guy on the bar and a queue of at least 10 people. We left and went somewhere else! It's a shame because it could be an amazing venue :(

Nice vegetarian menu as part of vegetarian week, but you cannot mix a vege starter with an ordinary main - how officious and inflexible. What makes people forget who the customer is?
