Shogun Ramen and Bar in Manchester

Potentially the best ramen I've had!!! So full of flavour, cooked perfectly, it was amazing! Limited seating but worth the wait, the veg tempura was great, I had the pork ramen and added a few bits. I highly recommend a visit, also had some great vegan / veggie options!

Visited from the Cotswolds on a Wednesday as I was meeting a mate who lives in the area. As soon as you walk in you get that authentic ramen bar feel, diners at tables, diners at the bar, the servers hosting and the chefs working hard on their craft in the open kitchen. Busy but cosy vibes. Unfortunately they weren't doing their Sushi which is the reason for the minus star, but that doesn't take away from how delicious the food was. I had the Uzumaki ramen with a side of Karaage chicken, everything was done to perfection and the flavours and umami were incredible. The service was great, attenuative and helpful, however they didn't specify the details about the Wednesday deal (buy a meal and your friend eats for free) that both parties need to order the same dish to get the free one. Perhaps I should've delved deeper, however regardless of that, I am always happy to pay good money for good food and this was most certainly worth every penny.

Fantastic ramen, great value, and just the right volume on the music. Chris was a fantastic host as well.

Lovely and cosy atmosphere. The staff is very professional and highly attentive. The food was amazing, one of the best ramen in town and surely one of the best tempura too.

The ramen was mint, the service was lovely and the decor and vibes were nice. Have to take a star as it is a little bit spenny but welcome to chorlton I guess.

What an amazing restaurant. We visited as party of six and had the best time. The food was amazing. The service was absolutely spot on. I honestly could not find fault. We will most certainly be back. Thank you for looking after us so well. Highly recommended to anyone and everyone.

We had two types of ramen with friends - chicken and speciality ramen. It's not the most delicious ramen I've ever had, but it's made according to a traditional recipe. Tasty noodles and meat, but not enough broth in my opinion. The price is a bit overpriced. The place is small but cosy, the downside is that it blows from the doors to any part of the hall. 1 chicken ramen is 10£ 1 special ramen 15£

Cozy place with very friendly staff

I had a brilliant experience at shogun ramen bar. I had the beef brisket with ramen. The beef was tender and succulent, it was mouthwatering. They also had the Naruto “ichiraku” ramen, which was amazing (if you know, you know). Staff and service was great too as they were friendly and very welcoming.

Lovely ramen place! Delicious food which taste like it has been made with top quality ingredients! I would highly recommend a visit!

Came for date night and convinced my other half to try ramen as he's never liked it, but he loved it this time. Sushi is also awesome, they are like futomaki. Love that you can see it made, too. Money and time well spent!

Ramen was okay! Got the original, and it was alright. I’d come back if there was a deal, but if not I would try a different ramen place around.

Great food! I ordered the beef brisket ramen and it was super tasty along with multiple other dishes! The service was quick and on point. Will definitely be coming back frequently.

Second visit here and the experience couldn't be worse. From a dirty/sticky table, undercooked pork belly that we were unable to eat to a very bland tasteless ramen soup we couldn't have had a worst Saturday lunch. When we told the staff about the pork belly all we were told is that they could bring us some more - no other options. When we asked to pay they charged us the full amount without compensation even after collecting our half eaten plates. Never returning here.

the vegan chicken curry ramen was excellent, i loved the taste and how it was neatly placed. i also loved the ramune there.

The food and service was amazing and the atmosphere so chilled! Staff were super friendly. My partner tried the Sumo Ramen Challenge and man it was a huge Bowl! Honestly delicious! Highly recommend!

It’s not that the food is bad, it’s just that there are so many other places selling far better tasting ramen. It was a bit underwhelming which was a shame as it’s in a great location

I've been here twice and the ramen is so so tasteless, the broth has no depth and you have to pay extra for chilli oil to give it any taste which is also usually free! They don't even bother to soy marinate the eggs. There's so many amazing and authentic ramen places, why would you ever come here. The tables are even sticky.

You really need to teach some manners to your staff.

Chicken Ramen was really nice, very fast and friendly service and very well priced. Went during the Wednesday offer which was exceptional value for money. Small restaurant which was very busy but staff were accommodating despite arriving near closing time, quite dark and tables were little sticky. Chicken dishes are halal which is highlighted on the menu and care is taken not to cross contaminate, would highly recommend for ramen and will be back to try other dishes!

So glad our other plans fell through and we ended up going here last minute! Never been before and we were lucky to get a table, it was consistently busy. The service was efficient and friendly. The food was AMAZING! I loved my dragon roll sushi, haven't stopped thinking about them and actually went back tonight for takeaway portion! Dynamite prawns were, crispy, spicy and huge. The Raman was delicious too. We will definitely be back. Thanks Shogun 😍💗

Extremely disappointing. I had the vegan ramen which was extremely bland. The broth had almost no flavour (even after adding soy and chilli oil to try and salvage it) and the egg was not marinated in the slightest. Found it odd that the meat options were minced. The fried gyoza starter was nice and staff were friendly. Unfortunately another overrated ramen spot. I wouldn’t return.

Overrated. The pork was slightly burnt，I could only taste salty and bitter. Don't know if it's because of the burnt pork or sth else also burnt when they cook，the ramen soup taste bitter as well and that's not what 豚骨ramen should be

The food was amazing however the man that initially greeted us was rude, ruined the experience for us since we were so excited to try this place :( The Chefs however were very sweet & kind !!

I always love the food & service here. Special mention to the young lady who was serving on her own in the middle of a rush on Monday night.

Food was on the bland side, underwhelming overall. The egg in the ramen was especially boring. Chicken Karage however was the one thing they did great. Service was okay, not the worst, not the best I’ve had, no complaints at all.

I really disliked the ramen, I tried the curry ramen with chicken karaage and chikin ramen with teriyaki mince. Both broths were quite bland, the eggs were boring and not marinated at all. I didn’t enjoy the mince but the karaage was nice. Super disappointed with the ramen. I went for the bring a friend Wednesday offer, but wouldn’t return even if it was free. The sushi was nice but overpriced for half a roll.

one of the best ramen ive ever had along with great sushi. My only thing paying £7.20 for a beer is very over priced but other than that 5 out of 5 on everything

Popping in for some street food, we enjoyed a bao each (mine was crispy enoki) and a portion of Chicken Karaage to share. Very moreish!

The waiters were talkative, kind and did their jobs so well, the view from the bar was amazing as you can see them cook and it was a great experience overall!

One of my favourite restaurants ever, only place I've ever reviewed! Very affordable for how good the food is with lovely and cosy atmosphere without feeling cramped. Only wish they were open more lunchtimes

Food was this time average. When recently started was good but today I visited and I noticed that the portion was smaller than before and also some ingredients were replaced for lower quality. Unfortunately, today, it wasn't as good as before.

Lovely meal, great service, very friendly, very attentive without being overbearing. Definitely recommended.

Tasty cheap ramen what can I say

Good food but they put WAY TOO MUCH sauce all over the poke. Ita all over the mango, the avocado, the fish, the salad, just all drenched in this sauce so it all tastes like the sauce. I would very much prefer to have the sauce on the side so I can choose how much goes in my food. :)

Disappointing- went to try ramen as I love it and seen all the photos and videos and heard all the good reviews so wanted to try. The ramen ( shogun tonkotsu) we received was nothing like photos, there was ingredients missing, ramen tasted like water, the meat pieces were fewer than the photos here or on instagram, the egg was just normal white boiled egg, some other ingredients missing too. So was just water and noodles with white boiled egg, I am sad I didn’t take a photo as a proof. We also sat outside with several bottles from previous people at the table stack in front of us ( around 6 of them) so I believe even the previous people was sitting with somebody’s else’s bottles at their table.

Nice place. Food is fairly priced, very tasty, and service is quick and friendly. Feel of the restaurant is relaxed and cosy. Music could be a bit lower. Sometimes we go and it's hard to hear eachother, but that's a small gripe.

Fine ramen place, nothing outstanding but I appreciate it being in Chorlton. Lovely service, fast food. Would have been nice to have a vegetable in their signature ramen. Tasted a bit under seasoned and over-sweet, no salt or soy sauce on the table. Looking back at other reviews from six months ago the portions definitely look better - my Tonkotsu had no vegetables and was not so full of toppings as those six months ago. The egg that was served with mine did not appear to be flavoured or special in any way, just half a soft boiled egg. A fine dinner, but nothing noteworthy.

Best Ramen in South Manchester!

Atmosphere is cozy and warm enough. Open kitchen is clean . Ramen is good, kinda like Hong Kong Style more than Japan. The Japanese Cha Siu Pork is very good, just 2 slices a bit not enough x Sushi is fair enough and perfect for British people , it’s very good. But for a people fancy Japan sushi, the vinegar is not sour enough, a bit pity. I understand the British doesn’t like sour sushi rice, thus it’s difficult and impossible to find authentic SOUR vinegar sushi rice. Will come again for Ramen and Cha Siu def Fab x

The best ramen we've had so far !

We feel so disappointed today. We come for the ramen. When we come, there are two 4 seats table available, and 2 bar seats. And one of 4 seats just finished a 2 guests party. The staff told us the big table will leave to big party coz normally busy, do we mind we sit the bar? We understand and said okay. However you know the bar seat we don’t have any space to put our coat. when we sit 5 mins there’s nobody in, the staff came to us said if you want you can move to big table, but when big party coming you still need move to the bar. I feel this is so uncomfortable so I told her we are fine. Then later the funny thing happened, a couple come in and seat one of the 4 seats table, the staff just brings the menus to them. How funny isn’t it! It’s better there are some good reasons to leave this big table for them not us. Don’t tell me they reserved that table, coz the lady comes in said to her friend said we sit this table then. We feel so disappointed and also angry, so we just leave straight away. I don’t know your food is good or not, but the service are awful. Maybe as your side, white people are more welcome and deserve better tables and your service.

My new favourite ramen place! Not just the ramen is amazing, but the other dishes are fantastic. Great priced delicious food. Lovely staff. The seating inside is limited, cozy and very aesthetic. Would recommend and can't wait to come back.

I can honestly say I love this place. The ramen is beautiful and the bao buns are lovely also. I have been a handful of time and excited to ve returning today and introducing it to a good friend. If you like delicious, warming food this is the place 😋

I got delivery and it was a very mixed bag. Order arrived on time and correct. Chicken Katsu Curry was great, but the sashimi was terrible and had a strange, sour taste and unusual texture. Would order again but dont get the sashimi.

Had the best evening here. The staff are also fantastic.

Very small ramen shop but quick service and turnaround. They have halal chicken which is cooked separate. I really enjoyed the chicken ramen. It’s more flavourful than other halal chicken ramens in the city. Would recommend!

A lovely and quaint restaurant. The atmosphere is nice with some Japanese music playing in the background. Staff were all lovely and my meal was served with haste. I tried the Tonkatsu ramen and Karaage. Both came out nice and hot and were delicious.

Heard of Shogun and was a must try. No ragrets. Loved this place. Staff are wonderful & the food was stunnin, had the vegan option, the crispy 'chicken' was THE ONE. Highly recommend to alllllllll.

We have been where regularly for ramen. It’s such good value and so well done. But if wait but it worth it. They let me son watch them make the food which he enjoyed.

Food is overall decent, hearty, and there are great flavours, although I have definitely had better / more flavourful ramen but this is very good too and it has great ambience so I’d recommend going for a lunch or dinner! Service can be a little slow at times but at least the staff are kind and polite! Biggest negative for me was the fact that they ran out of beer, you can’t really call yourself a BAR when you’re running out of drinks.

Best ramen I’ve had outside of Japan!! We sat on the bar stools, fab watching the chefs, super quick service. I had the shogun tantanmen ramen & my friend had the vegan katsu curry & vegan chicken bao. Everything was 11/10, including the staff who were so lovely! Highly recommended, we made the trip out for this, definitely worth paying for the taxi!

Visited Shogun Ramen and Bar the other day. Very lovely place, great atmosphere, staff were very friendly. we ordered a selection of dishes (ramen, katsu, sushi). All very very fresh and delicious. The service was brilliant, the food came quickly and the staff were always smiling. It wasn’t very busy when we arrived so we got seated straight away . Overall, I would highly recommend and will go again.

A beautiful, welcoming place to get really tasty ramen. Bao buns were so good, chicken ramen and the salt and pepper chips were outstanding!! Fantastic service and food!!

We popped in for a quick lunch and both ordered the pork tantanmen. The bowls arrived promptly and piping hot, filled with perfectly cooked, firm, noodles, a delicious rich broth and spicy-sweet minced pork and garnishes. Really good food. We'll be back soon.

I visited Manchester recently, and I tried food from Shogun Ramen&Bar. I'm from Romania, so I haven't eaten before. The place was nice and the food was delicious!! First i tried Pork Belly ramen, which although was a very large portion, I ate it all. I loved it!!🤤🤤🤤 I also tried sushi for the first time, and it was very good. I recommend everyone to go to them. If I come back to Manchester I will definitely go to Shogun Ramen & Bar again!!
