Shiuli in Richmond upon Thames

I had the pleasure of going to Shiuli for dinner on the evening of the 3rd of October and had a fabulous evening. What’s even better than the outstanding food was the care and attention provided by each and every member of the staff. The food is modern Indian and appeals to even the most discerning palate. My favourite dish was the ouststanding Kale - Saag Paneer and the Truffle Naan - and this comes from a person who usually swears by Non Veg. What is even better is that the restaurant serves up a mean range of cocktails which pairs very well with the courses. Go and have a great time !!

Loved every bit of it! My partner , my son and I were in awe after we first visited the restaurant. Clearly not something one can expect from a neighbourhood place to eat. Ambience, service and most importantly food reminds you of Mayfair type dining! Must visit, not only if you fancy Indian cuisine, but if you are big foodie in general. Shiuli will surprise you !

Beautiful food and decor. Lovely smell as you walk in with super friendly and professional staff. Difficult to choose what the best meal is of the night! Thoroughly enjoyed the bone marrow naan, mango and prawn curry, duck samosa. Great experience.

Shiuli came highly recommended, and for good reason. The ambiance and interior were very elegant whilst also relaxed and welcoming. It took a while for the mains to arrive but it was well worth the wait as the food was all excellent and the staff were lovely. I had the vegan options and it was great to see that these were just as thoughtfully crafted as the rest of the menu. I will be passing on the recommendation, and can’t wait to return myself.

My family and I went to Shiuli Restaurant for my uncle’s birthday. First of all, the restaurant’s atmosphere was very pleasant and beautiful. The waiters were very polite and friendly. The lady who owned the restaurant was very welcoming and kind. The starters were incredibly delicious. For the main course, I had lamb chops, which were outstanding. For my uncle’s birthday, they gave him a birthday card, which was a lovely gesture. I truly appreciate it.

Definitely not your average Indian restaurant. Absolutely gorgeous food. Fantastic service. Highly recommend

Easy my favourite restaurant in London! The food is too die for! Michelin star chef does Indian infusion full of mouth watering flavours.

Went in with greater expectations from the menu. Food was hit and miss. Grills were average. Butter chicken was overly sweet and disappointing. Salad puchka, pepper lamb and tandoori rotis were good. One would expect more with the steep prices they charge. Drinks were nice and service was really attentive. Based on the food sadly Shuili didn't hit the mark.

Absolutely beautiful food! The saagwaala chicken and the jalfrezi chicken just melted in the mouth! The only reason it doesn’t get five stars is that they sent they sent a roti instead of a naan and for £60 for two dishes, rices and 2 naans, I would hope they get the order right….

Flawless execution and probably the best Indian restaurant we’ve tried in the UK - even when benchmarked against e.g. Gymkhana and the likes. Flavourful but not imposing dishes that are nicely presented, and by friendly and attentive staff who clearly take pride in giving customers a great dining experience. There has also been thought put into the interior design of the restaurant - warm atmosphere and with small little details that matter. Don’t look any further - Shiuli has really nailed it.

Visited Shiuli for the first time, we usually go to Little Mumbai in Twickenham so thought a change would be good. Overall it was a nice restaurant, well furnished, clean and the food was very good. However for a biryani, a chicken dish, 2 vegetable side dishes, a roti and a drink each the bill was shocking. We paid £85 including the 12.5% service charge and although the food was very well prepared it could never be described as good value for money. Some of the revues made reference to special offers ( The Fork I think) so that may have made a difference. It's a nice restaurant but it will have been our first and only visit. Verdict : Nice but well over priced. Our regular restaurant is almost as good at half the price.

This is undoubtedly a lovely restaurant, staff are attentive and service is good, atmosphere on a standard Wednesday evening was also, so to the food....I found the grilled starter pieces to be so much tastier than the mains which I found fairly bland. Also with the grilled starters we were advised to not share them as they were not big enough to cut in half, this is simply not true, the lamb, prawn and chicken were all huge, I am not complaining about this but luckily we didn’t take the advice given as they were plenty for two to share as a starter, in fact we barely had room for main courses after eating them. Also, the pricing is extortionate, it is a lovely place, but I think it is very overpriced, I would only go back for a very, very special occasion (and if I won the lottery!)

The restaurant is beautiful inside and all the staff are very welcoming. The food is out of this world. Probably the best curry we’ve had in London. The flavours are wonderful. We’ll be back just to try the rest of the menu.

We have eaten here a few times and it is always good. We decided to try the tasting menu and it was amazing. There are 2 different tasting menus, hard to choose which one. The flavours were amazing and every dish looks beautiful. The service is so friendly and relaxed but professional. A lovely restaurant!

Wow, what an amazing restaurant! Been here a few times now and I think it is my new favourite! Food is superb! Service is amazing! Cocktails very yummy! Surroundings are very aesthetically pleasing. Perfect place for a date night. Had the head chef come and speak with us and was a lovely personal touch. Couldn’t recommend more! We love the small plates and the lamb chops and prawns are to die for! Best butter chicken I’ve ever had and the bone marrow naan was mouthwatering and so different! We can’t wait to try some of the other menu items.

Amazing food as always. Their Sunday lunch menu is fantastic and exceptionally good value. I stand by it being the best food in Twickenham. Highly recommended. Staff, service, food and drink all top notch. Looking forward to our next visit.

What an incredible restaurant with fantastic staff and even better food. Loved it

Great restaurant near Twickenham Green. The food is beautifully cooked Indian dishes in a comfortable smart dining area with some of the best staff serving the food I have experienced, including really well known "fine dining restaurants". The emphasis is on taste and ingredients and a relaxed atmosphere. If you want a quieter dining experience arrive early before the groups and get the bonus of a discounted early evening menu (order before 18.00) which has some of the star dishes from the a la carte menu. If you enjoy your beer, Shiuli now has bottled Twickenham Brewery beers, from just down the road and Jawbone from Teddington.

AMAZING food!!! We came here for my birthday recently and the food was on another level. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to our needs, the food was out of this world and the whole experience was great. On the pricier side but totally worth it. The equivalent to any high end restaurant in London. Well worth the visit and we will come again. Thank you!

Best Indian restaurant in the area by far

Shiuli is quite simply one of the best restaurants I have been to. My friend recommended this place and we were not disappointed. Alfred and his team have put together a great menu illustrating tremendous imagination and creativity. Sunita was also a great host and all dishes were presented and tasted so good. The service was also very prompt and friendly. We can’t wait to comeback..!

So happy to have eaten here, wonderful food, attentive, friendly service. Would definitely return. Had the tasting menu which was first class, can’t wait to return to try other dishes. A must try.

We went to Shiuli for Fathers Day as a last minute dinner plan and it did not disappoint. The service was impeccable and could not fault it which is really refreshing. The food was out of this world and hands down one of the best Indian we have tried. Very innovative and delicious. They also were really accommodating with our four year old son and able to help tone the heat down in certain dishes too. We will be back for more!

My favourite restaurant in the whole Twix/Richmond area ! The food is amazing, so well thought and put together but more than that there is a general high attention to all details from the service to the dishes presentation, choice of drinks, everything really that makes a huge difference to the overall experience. Congratulations to the team.

I wish I would have remembered to take photos of the food, but one can see them on other posts. Everything looked beautiful. My second visit, and both times the service and food have been exceptional! And I'm an old grumpy ex chef! 😂 Well impressed and looking forward to visiting again to try the other things on the menu that sounded so nice. A Twickwers gem!

Unusual to go to an Indian restaurant before a Rugby match but Shiuli had been recommended by a local, then the lovely waitress in Sapori (great coffee) declared herself jealous when she heard where we were going and then, on our way out, a couple sitting behind us said they loved the place and we would enjoy it. We had high expetitions, and those expectations were met. I haven't had a biriani in many years having been spoilt by the Indian Mother of a friend of my wife. Time, I thought, in view of the recommendations, to try again . I wasn't disappointed. There is a subtlty to a biriani that sometimes is missed with the herbs or spices or a herb or a spice predominating. Not this one. It was perfect. My wife had the pindi chickpea masala and smoked aubergine bharta. She didn't need to loick her plate clean as she had naan, thank goodness. But then dessert. Textures of Mango. Words cannot describe the taste sensation. One of my top 5 desserts of all time. No wonder it is their best seller. Over the last 20 years or so I have visited Indian Restaurants all over the country. This modern cookery puts Shiuli at the top of my list. The only reason for 4 stars for atmosphere was that the place was less than half full. Other people, also obviously going to the rugby, seemed to be enjoying their food. Goodness knows why Shiuli wasn't full, it should have been.

As soon as you walk in you are hit with the most beautiful smell of cardamom and other fresh spices. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff and all so attentive and friendly. The food is stunning! We will definitely be back to try their tasting menu. . . Sounds amazing!

We have been there a few times and have taken some of our friends, too. We all agree that this is one of the best Indian restaurants we have been to.

This is not another British Indian Restaurant! The chef patron Alfred Prasad is Michelin starred and the food showcases the best of regional Indian cuisine. The ambience is calm and welcoming like the service. The dishes were all innovative and delicious. We always look forward to our next visit!

This is a wonderful, modern Indian restaurant with many things sourced locally. All the food is excellent but you must try the Black Kale Paneer and the Black Lentils. And the samphire crisps on the Amritsari fish starter are a taste sensation.

A rare gem in the area serving authentic Indian dishes made with love. First restaurant where I can truly say I love every dish on the menu. It’s run by a husband and wife team and they are the most amazing people you will ever meet.

Dreadful takeaway! Charged my family £95 for the smallest portions of food. The food was no better than an average takeaway. Chicken inside the chicken Tikka Masala was grizzly while the portion sizes were tiny. Avoid

My experience of Shiuli was an amazing experience. Firstly, we were seated very promptly and then we ordered. Soon after we had ordered, our food arrived and it was splendid. Great variety, taste and much more. Waiters were very nice and helpful. Would recommend. 5 Stars.

The best restaurant we have ever been to. My partner and I have been several times, and each time it has been such an incredible experience from start to finish. The staff are incredibly kind, positive, funny and genuine - they treat you like family - something you rarely find in restaurants nowadays. The food is out of this world. It is unique and each dish is perfectly balanced in flavour and presentation. Special shoutout to my favourites the roasted broccoli and black kale saag paneer! It is Michelin-star quality yet very reasonably priced. The cocktails are also fantastic. Then there are the decorations - stunning. We have brought family here and they are very much in agreement - my parents want to come here every time they visit London. It is an absolute gem of a place and I am sure it will become of London’s most renowned restaurants very soon. We will continue to enjoy the experience for as long as we can! Pieter & Cecile

Been meaning to try this place for ages and did not expect it to be pretty much full on a dull week night. Staff were superb all night long (attentive and knowledgeable) and the food was lovely

I had the pleasure of dining at Shiuli last night, and once again, I was blown away by the exceptional experience it offered. From start to finish, every aspect of the evening exceeded my expectations. One of the highlights of the evening was the special birthday arrangement that Shiuli had prepared. Not only did they acknowledge the occasion with a thoughtful birthday card, but they also presented a beautifully decorated birthday plate, adding a personal touch that truly made the celebration memorable.

An innovative menu well presented and helpful waiters made eating here a very pleasant experience. Oh and the low alcohol beer choices are very good.

Family visit on recommendation and didn’t disappoint! Up market ambience , attentive friendly staff and owner. Extensive wine list to accompany some extremely tasty dishes. The style is to serve with not a lot of sauce- worth knowing - so could be a bit dry depending on what order.

We’ve just had a delivery from here. Wow! The food was exceptional. Elegant, delicious flavours and aromas. We had two dishes. A chicken and spinach dish - which was tender with a slightly citrusy, and beautifully fresh sauce - and a mushroom dish in a sauce with fennel which was light and aromatic with a hint of spice. The mind blowing things were the sides - the bone marrow naan and samphire onion bhaajis. They were probably the best expressions of those two Indian staples I have ever had. Beautiful.

Food was very good: interesting and delicious, but the service was even better. Helpful, attentive staff were as good as at the Goring.

I hope I have the right restaurant but I met the most beautiful person ever in this place. Sonita? I was trying to get home from twickenham after my first game there ever with a destroyed back and unfortunately hobbling in the wrong direction! Sonita is an absolute angel in disguise, no questions asked let me use the toilet after I trekked and couldn’t get a cab and then bought me a glass of wine. There was absolutely no need for her to go above and beyond with a smile and sheer kindness but she did anyways - a beautiful woman and a beautiful venue x

In one word: fabulous. Casual but elegant ambience, excellent service, and superb food. The menu is innovative, and food preparation and delivery is an art form. A great experience, sure to be repeated.

Wanted to give 6/5 really for service. We have been to Shiuli today for lunch. There was a minor delay in serving the order due to some issue with the grill, but the way they reacted (very humbly) and offered complimentary dishes, we felt really thankful and glad. Food was good, we tried lamb chops, roasted broccoli, amritsari fish, truffle naan, slow cooked lamb and mango lassi. Overall food would be 4.5/5. Special mention would be the truffle naan. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and we will be back again soon!

Outstanding local restaurant in Twickenham and now a place to book before you go as on a Wednesday night it was full from 7:30 till 10:30. All foo dishes were amazing with the roasted broccoli out of this world! Very helpful staff who clearly all knew the menu and described all dishes well. Great hospitality and food, recommend 💯

Absolutely incredible experience here. The service was second to none from the very first interaction to the very last with extremely friendly, polite and welcoming staff. Not only that but the aesthetically pleasuring interiors, perfect lighting and cozy atmosphere all added to the overall charm, creating a perfect setting for dinner. Finally, the food was exceptional, boasting a fantastic blend of flavours and certainly lived up to the high standards we had been told about - can't wait to return and try more of the menu!

The reason I'm writing this bad review is in the hope it will be noted and corrected for future dealings with customers. . I'd heard great things of this place and excited to go, so yesterday morning, after calling to book a table for 7:30 for tonight, I was kept on the phone for ten minutes, to spell my name 4 times, to then give my email address and then card details! I refused (for obvious reasons). I commented that this booking was taking far too long and that I was at work. They agreed to call back for the rest of the details. They called back ten minutes later, while I was working.... And then no one answered when I called back. I called back today to confirm the booking discussed yesterday, and they again keep me on the phone for so long that I hung up. Upon calling me back the manager simply said they didn't have a booking for the time I had booked the previous day and could only accommodate 5 pm or 9 pm. This would have been an understandable situation if I had called only today to book but after spending so long on the phone yesterday and again, just to be told this, I don't find it acceptable for an apparently reputable place. The manager had very poor interpersonal skills, lacked manners, and was rather sarcastic and condesending. This is the reason I refused the alternative booking choices...

So happy that I can find this place! Everything is just perfect!

I eat a lot of Indian food and this was easily the most enjoyable meal I have had in years. I'm not always impressed by 'designer' indian restaurants but remain blown away by the food we had last Friday. The Grilled Scallops, Amritsari Fish and Samphire Onion Bhaji were truly outstanding and bursting with flavour. The Malabar Prawn and Mango Curry and the Slow Roasted Peppery Lamb boasted amazing flavours and textures. Finally the Date Coconut and Poppy Seed Naan and Burnt Garlic Yellow Lentils were delicious. The restaurant is a lovely space with well spaced tables and warm and efficient service. It doesn't get much better than this, well done to everyone in the kitchen and front of house.

What a great place! The food and service is amazing

Honestly the food is better than many of the dishes I've had at Benares, Tamarind, Chutney Mary, Veeraswamy & Gymkhana. So imaginatively presented too. Mushroom Chettinad is incredible. Kale paneer stunning. And the broccoli is a must.

Infallible restaurant choice. The food is brilliant (Indian favourites usually with a subtle and imaginative twist), the ambience is great (convivial but not too loud) and the waiting staff are utterly delightful. We're vegetarian and they have a separate vegetarian menu which earns them big brownie points. We ordered a mix of veggie dishes - our waiter even brought over a generous free sample of the dhal for us to try as we'd been wavering over ordering that (needless to say, delicious). Can't recommend highly enough, high quality food with something to please everyone, great service.

I went to Shiuli for New Year’s Eve and it was the best decision we made. The food felt like a fine dining meal but in a very relaxed environment. The owner comes and chats with you and helps you understand the menu. Had the Burrata chaat which is a must have, flavour bomb with creaminess of Burrata. The mixed grills were my favourite - the meat was cooked to perfection and paired well with their coriander chutney. Moved on to the truffle sea salt naan which felt like a comforting hug along with the prawns and mango curry. Delicious and will be back for more work sure !

We went with friends for New Years Eve for dinner and it the definitely the right decision. It was excellent. The friendliest staff, all very attentive. You had the choice of the A La Carte menu or the set tasting menu. We went with the first, it was amazing. We had the house white and red wine abc that was the only let down, they ran out of the house white wine early on.

A great modern Indian restaurant. Not too fatty and lovely flavours. Attentive service. All dishes are great but loved the scallops especially as they had four of them and they were a good size. Also great to see them supporting local businesses such as Jawbone brewery

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from an Indian Restaurant in the UK. I’ve been told the food is mostly bland (compared to authentic Indian food back home). But, I was pleasantly surprised to experience the fare at this fine establishment. Wonderful cocktails, and such flavourful food.

We have been here multiple times and whenever we have guests come stay, we bring them to Shuili. Sensational food, service and atmosphere. We will of course be back again and if you're ever in the area you must come and try the food!!

Wow! This was definitely the most delicious Indian food we have experienced by far & absolutely a must try. We’re only going to go here for Indian from now on - what we had was so amazing we’re worried about trying anything else in case it isn’t as good as how can it be! Each mouthful was pure heaven - the chicken was cooked to perfection so tender & the flavours were incredible. Cannot recommend it highly enough. Our only disappointment was that the wine though very good we felt was a bit too pricey. Cheapest was £8.50 for 175ml (large, if they were at least 250ml measures would have been acceptable) so nice as it is to have wine with the meal, think we would leave it out in future. Otherwise could not be more delighted with this find & will definitely be back! Book in advance as understandably gets busy, service was really good too. Thank you 🙏🏽 oh and the butter nan was out of this world - so light, fresh, crispy & yet somehow also soft at the same time - best naan ever :)

This place is amazing and the staff are so attentive but not over the top. We had the tasting menu which I highly recommend. The young guy who was serving us and walking us through the courses and wine flight was amazing. Very knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. The food was magnificent. Highly recommend

An unexpected, extraordinarily Indian cuisine restaurant. A place where every meal has its story and its fabulous. Definitely a place to return to.

Very calm and relaxed atmosphere. Really appreciated that we could hear each other along the table. Friendly and helpful staff helped make this a very special dining experience. Made our family party of 10 people and a dog very welcome. Everyone commented on how tasty and delicious the food was. Some even thought it was the best vegetarian meal they'd ever had out. Sadly, not a local venue for most of us, but look forward to making a return visit.

Somehow this restaurant manages to combine healthy, home style cooking without comprising on flavour and delivers some traditional dishes with a twist. All in lovely setting with very friendly staff. If it doesn’t have a Michelin star already, it should.

We arrived slightly early for our evening meal, but the staff were very accommodating, polite and smiled all the time, which made us feel welcomed and at home. The food was amazing! the drinks were fresh ( i.e Mango Lassi and Apple juice) and the whole experience was excellent. After each course the tables were wiped and new cutlery were presented. The staff knew all of the dishes and made recommendations, which helped us alot...I will be back as soon as i can...My wife and I have even booked a cooking class next month, which we are excited about...Best restaurant, Ive been to in a long time
