Shiraz in Oxford

We had a lovely family lunch here - really tasty chicken and lamb and delicious Persian tea were the highlights. Fantastic relaxed atmosphere. The portions were generous and it’s definitely good value for the quality of food. We were late for our booking but the staff were very accommodating and friendly. I will definitely visit again.

Good food, good portions and good prices. Staffs are nice and nice atmosphere. The menu is varied. Good for families. Good location too.

Delicious Persian Cuisine here with attentive and smiling waitress. Our 2 course meal with a bottle of Australian Shiraz came in at £69. We shall return. I recommend you try it out for yourself…

Fabulous lamb shank. Refreshing and beautiful Chef's salad with shrimp. Lovely ambiance, including some incredible tile work. Staff was welcoming and accommodating. A gem in Oxford on our way to tge Cotswolds.

We had a large piece of broken plastic in one of the dishes. Informed the staff who offered to replace the dish, we did not want a replacement dish as the food was anyway very poor and tasteless. Couldn't leave soon enough and will never return.

The service and food were excellent the three main dishes one with chicken then a lamb and sea bass. The next time we are in Oxford we will be heading there again.

We enjoyed trying Persian cuisine here . The Shiraz restaurant had a great buzzy atmosphere with some Middle Eastern music playing in the background . A number of people of Middle Eastern origin were dining - a good sign .The food was great - we share the mixed starters for 2 - you get to choose 3 from most of their starter list . The portion size was substantial so we ended up having a main course with 2 skewers between us ( a minced lamb skewer and a mixed chicken and lamb fillet skewer ) with rice and salad garnish . Both were high quality and tasty . The yoghurt drink was a first for us which we enjoyed . There is no comprehensive wine list , just red and just shiraz or malbec . The Australian shiraz was quite OK though . Service was great with friendly staff who enjoyed telling us about the dishes and chatting a bit about Iran . Overall an experience to repeat . Booking recommended .

Terrific family meal! The sharing starter was delicious, and my meat-eating family said the sharing platters of meat were excellent. My younger son isn't a very adventurous eater so hadn't been keen to try Persian food, but he was completely converted. My vegetarian tofu Fesenjan stew was amazing. We ordered far too much as we were hungry and the portions were very generous. The restaurant was packed and every table filled as soon as the previous group left so we were very glad we booked. Great atmosphere and friendly staff - highly recommended.

The owner restaurant Masood was so rude he had very bad behaviour with us and I found some insect in the salad and food quality was rubbish after we arrived at home all of us feels sick

The food was really excellent. I would recommend the Persian speciality dishes rather than just the grills as these are easier to find elsewhere. We had 2 lamb dishes and the Tofu sweet and sour dish - all were were so tasty. A great choice of starters too and a saffron Persian ice cream to die for! A really lovely evening out.

Our son was very keen on celebrating his graduation in this restaurant because of his previous positive experience. It is a lovely, welcoming place with attentive staff who worked very hard when we visited. As a family, we had three different main courses; generous helpings, all dishes beautifully presented, absolutely delicious and packed with flavour!! Persian hospitality at its best - thank you – looking forward to coming back!

Shiraz is the only Persian restaurant in Oxford. It has been revamped by the new owner, Masoud, and is now nicely decorated and served a wide selection of Persian dishes: -of course the traditional chelokababs : grilled skewers with saffron basmati rice (my favorite is « Darbari »), but also a range of stews (Ghormeh Sabzi, Gheymeh,..). I have tried a lot of items and everything was really tasty. Among the starters: the Kashk Bademjan (smoked aubergine with nuts and mint and kashk) is a must. Last but not least : friendly service and reasonable prices !

We hosted our daughter's friends to celebrate her graduation at Shiraz. They gave us our table of 8 on time and very thoughtfully placed. The food here is authentic, very generous portion ( excellent for young students), moderately spiced . We tried the chelli kebabs, joje kebabs and a lamb and yellow pea stew - all delicious. Finished our dinner with warm and flavourful Persian tea...they served us some interesting starters and an extra pot of tea on the house. Very hospitable staff...took care of all our requests. Special mention of Mr. Bilal and two lovely ladies who were very gracious hosts ..they made our dinner perfect in all ways. Tip: a portion can be easily shared by two or students could eat some and pack some happily.

We ordered a takeaway, based upon the great reviews, and were most definitely NOT disappointed!! The saffron/lemon marinated chicken kebab was delicious, and the lamb shank with the dill/broad bean rice was utterly breathtaking! This is Persian food at it's best! The delivery was packed well, and came nice and hot. There was also quite a lot of leftovers which we enjoyed the next day!

Very tasty food, well presented and good portions. We had the three starter selection, a delicious aubergine thing, vine leaves and very tasty if slightly unusual olives (lots of them) plus some bread which was warm and fresh. Then the seafood grill for two, which gave us some nicely prepared and juicy prawns, plus some fish, with rice and salad. Desserts looked good, but we couldn't quite manage one. Restaurant was busy on a Thursday, and I can see why. Yum.

I had lunch with a friend and it was a lively experience. The starters were especially good. The waiters - very attentive. In my opinion the menu could do with a few more vegetarian dishes

First visit to Shiraz. Very nice location and decoration. Interesting menu, similar to Turkish but with different flavours to enjoy. Yogurt drink, salty and minty. Grilled meats. Aubergine stew. All delicious. And the rice! Excellent.
