Super delicious Japanese dish. Everything so fresh. Excellent food presentation. Wide selection from the menu. The decoration of the restaurant is so amazing which makes you feel like you are having dinner in Japan. Really enjoyed so much having dinner here. Definitely will visit the restaurant again.

The food is always so good! shin never disappoints the food they serve is always sooooo good and delicious. me and my boyfriend love coming and regularly order delivery from here too and its top notch nosh! its literally the only japanese restaurant me and my boyfriend go to in cov, the uni and the gyudon hit so hard!

Where to start, this is definitely not a japanese restaurant whatsoever. The miso soup was obviously a pack one, the sushi rice was just long grain rice with cheap frozen salmon on it, served with no pickle ginger or wasabi. The karaage chicken was full of grease and the cheapest cuts of god knows what and the takoyaki didn't have any octopus in it. I have had better food from a family mart bento box than in this establishment. I've been to japan several times and they would be embarrassed to severe up food as terrible as what was put in front of me. The staff where a miserable lot and clearly not had a clue on what they where doing.... waited over twenty minutes to pay because the staff where so incompetent and didn't apologise for the wait. 0 out of ten. Clearly this is a Chinese run restaurant pretending to be japanese.

Sashimi great and great choice of bentos. Great range of sake to choose from and cocktails as well as Asahi on draught.

Excellent ramen soup and mixed sushi platter. Also good service. Although they said the kitchen was backed up, we didn’t have to wait long for our food. Prices very reasonable: about £45 for two people.

Had a great meal at shin, it was very tasty and great value too. The food was well presented and a great selection too The staff were really friendly and attentive. Couldn’t fault it.

Visited as 2 of us on a weekday lunch time when the restaurant was quite quiet. The pumpkin korroke and sushi gunkan were both excellent, and the seafood ramen was also very nice but the seafood portion was small. Staff member who looked after us was speedy and attentive, will definitely be back.

We went for lunch on Monday 5th December and there was only one member of staff front of house not only managing the diners, but also the bar, the delivery service, a DPD delivery and stayed totally on top of everything. If I had to retain a member of staff it would be him and I really hope your staff get to keep their tips as he is worth every penny. Thank you so much for excellent front of house service.

Sushi was really really good, ramen is also great value for money- the portion is huge so recommend sharing with someone else if you have a small appetite. Great spot 👍

We had been to the Odean and wandered into town looking for something to eat. I had been here with my girlfriend before and although she didn’t enjoy what she ate last time she was here was eager to try again. There was a spare table (lucky on a Saturday night) but they only take cash, so we asked them to hold the table whilst we found a cash machine. Staff were very helpful and pleasant and we both enjoyed a lovely meal. I think this meal may have won my girlfriend over to Japanese food so we will definitely be coming back.

Good selection of Japanese food and friendly staff. The place looked a little run down, the glasses and menus could have done with a better clean. Overall, nice restaurant and good food.

Delicious Pork Bento, sauce mixed well with the pork which melts after entering the mouth. We come to this restaurant twice in two days. Comfortable and quiet environment let us enjoy our dinner time. Will certainly come again

I used to come in here often so it was nice to come back for a meal before heading to a show at the Assembly Festival Gardens. It wasn’t very full so getting a table was easy and the staff were very friendly. We went with the meal deal, which included a couple of ramen dishes, all lovely. We will definitely come back.

Good location, right by the cathedral. Staff really friendly. We had various dishes between us and all were excellent. Definitely try the soft shell crap in seaweed wrap !!

We really enjoyed our meal. We didn’t know what to order and they were very helpful in getting a selection together. It was delicious, interesting and beautifully presented. Service was welcoming, smiley and helpful.

A fantastic experience with great food, surroundings and front of house staff and great food - did I mention the food. The Kara age was the best I’ve had out and sushi was great and good value - we had the salmon platter. Ramen was good and in the traditional manner al dent. We also had the bim bim bap which was tasty and served in a cast iron heated bowl and made the rice crispy at the bottom. What an unbelievable find and we will be back when next visiting the city. The front of house staff were passionate and were offering to make recommendations which would have been great I am sure. I could not believe the place wasn’t packed but I guess I was lucky as the footy was on and managed to get a table. Thank you for a great meal.

I like to wander into the city centre on a Saturday afternoon and eat at one of the many restaurants they have there. This is an old favourite with a great selection of ramen and sushi. I tried the octopus sushi this time which was very tasty. Worth a try if you like Japanese food.

Let's start by saying that I ordered sushi which needed to be fresh, surprise, wasn't it. I have paid 30 pounds and I did not got full. Besides that, the quality of the fish compared to the price was awful. Plus that, seems like the octopus balls were made by children, very chewy. As well as, they added meat into a fish platter, ugh! Also, I have ordered chopsticks and I did not get it. Very disappointed food, first and last order from them!I do not understand the 4 stars reviews, were it should be 0, not 1, 0!I feel sorry for my wallet and my stomach, they don't deserve this.

Ended up having to order in for dinner one night in Coventry as I was feeling ill and had no experience with local restaurants, so we selected randomly. I always crave Asian food so we ordered from this place and were pleasantly surprised about the thoughtfulness. The food came really well packed, hot and fresh - not soggy, not unappealing to look at and it was absolutely yummy.

Popped in for lunch as craving ramen post lockdown. Had some lovely ramen together with some gyoza. So tasty, service was quick and will definitely be going again.

After lockdown I was craving Japanese food. We had the best gyoza I've had outside of Japan, truly authentic unlike the other chain Japanese ramen place beginning with W. Delicious. Had to try the Takoyaki as never had them before.... wow. Think I have a new addiction!I haven't given 5 stars as the restaurant is lacking a bit of flair to the decor. I'll definitely be back though!

Came in here for a Japanese food fix and I wasn’t disappointed. I usually have the gyoza bu trying the sushi. Freshly made and lovely taste. Portions aren’t that big so best to double up to be safe.Everything is set up for social distancing so the place felt well prepared.

The pork within this dish was lovely and succulent to be honest the only part I ate. The dish came in separate parts which was odd, the noodles were really compacted together and didn't separate easily even when added to the broth. The noodles were oily/greasy and left a disgusting film in mouth and ruined the dish, broth was bland and overall didn't have the clean taste Ramen normally does.Potentially could be better served in the restaurant but based on the order today i won't be rushing to go.

We were visiting Coventry and came across this restaurant. The decor is modern, interesting and quirky. The staff are friendly and toilets are clean. I jad a vegetarian platter of sushi and some vegetable tempura. Both were delicious! I had Oreo cheesecake for dessert which was also really good. We both really enjoyed our meal here and would thoroughly recommend it. There were many people of Asian origin dining in the restaurant which tends to suggest it is authentic. Always a good sign. Give it a go!

I came in here a while ago and remember how tasty their pork gyoza was, so I decided to have a Japanese beer with a side of pork gyoza. Great flavour at a decent price. Worth the visit, friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere.

Fantastic tasting ramen and Okonomiyaki. The decor is comfortable and Kirin Ichiban on tap is delicious. The staff were also very attentive and friendly.

Partner had never tried ramen before so we chose this place. It’s a beautiful restaurant with friendly staff! Ordered takoyaki and two ramens. It’s was so nice! Defiantly come back! They got my order wrong but we’re so apologetic and friendly it really felt welcoming.

This resturant has a nice atmosphere, nice artwork. We were able to pick where we wanted to sit, the menus are quite tatty.We ordered a small plate to share and a sizzling bowl each for main. The sandwich/bao starter was okay but just tasted a bit like a roast pork sandwich with mayo. The beef sizzling pot main was just like beef stew with soggy rice and no real Asian flavour (very disappointing). The kimchi pork sizzling pot was okay again over cooked rice, not an amazing amount of meat in it. We have had similar dishes at other Japanese/Korean restaurants and enjoyed them more.Food took quite a while as well, during that time we discussed revisiting to try other nice sounding things on the menu but then the food that we did have wasn't amazing so we probably won't be back. The bill was place the other side of the table out of reach and debit card not handed back directly but again place the other side of the table quite bizarre.

Shin has a relaxed welcoming atmosphere. the decor is playful and suited to laid back attitude, were service was at hand but not overbearing.We had starters of gyoyza and tempura which couldn't be faulted.Then we shared some sushi rolls and some ramen, all very tasty. The ice tea and jasmine tea were also a great accompaniment.

The restaurant has a lovely ambiance; very open and fresh feeling. The staff we all very friendly and polite and the food exceptional. Can’t fault it and looking forward to going back and trying other dishes.

While the restaurant has a nice atmosphere, the Tonkotsu ramen which I ordered was not as good as the same ramen offered elsewhere. For example, the soup is not very thin and would benefit from more flavour. Moreover, I was a bit surprised that a single pork belly costs £1.50, which really is expensive.

Went here for a casual meal with a friend. I am British and she is Japanese, and we both enjoyed this restaurant. The food was tasty and the quirky decor is both aesthetically pleasing and a good conversation starter! The vibe here is laid back, almost like that of a coffee shop, which I liked. Good if you're looking for a relaxed place to grab lunch with a friend or a date.

Since I’ve been a customer of Shin Ramen for three years, I’ve been able to sample most of the non-sushi and BBQ menu. Let me tell you my thoughts on this restaurant as of 11/06/2019.

I had been in here before and enjoyed it so when I wanted a little celebration I decided to come here again. Beautiful decor and very busy. The menu has some amazing things on it, so difficult to choose but the food is prepared in an open kitchen and tastes amazing. The dumplings are great for a starter.

I had heard a lot about this place, so decided to visit. The drinks were very pricey. We had a non-alcoholic pina colas type thing, but it certainly wasn't as described on the menu - just fruit juice shaken until frothy! but the food was more reasonably priced. The starter - dumplings - were wonderful, hot and tasty, but the main course was disappointing. The food was cold and unappealing. By the time it arrived we just ate and left. Not sure we'd go back...

Not our first time here, sushi was nice and we ordered our favourite grilled shishamo. It was slightly dry but matches the sauce nicely. We both ordered ramen and rice and they were decent. Price is acceptable and nice atmosphere.

To be clear, I've never had an issue with the food. Here, you can have some of the best tonkotsu ramen you can get in the UK. And I've frequented most of London's famous joints on multiple occasions. I particularly recommend the Champon Ramen and the Takoyaki. The Takoyaki is better than any I had in Japan (which included mostly soggy ones from 4-5 different street stalls in Osaka) – crispy on the outside, flavourful and succulent on the inside.

The ramen was decent. The sashimi was fresh. Nothing impressive but generally it is a good restaurant.

Superb, authentic Japanese food in a relaxed and funky setting. Cool and casual but attentive staff. We ate at Shin on a Friday evening and the place was jumping....tables full to bursting with students and families alike. The smell is amazing as you walk in the door and we were greeted by friendly staff members. Sushi was excellent, pork Gyoza were delicious and the Chicken Katsu Curry tasted like a small piece of heaven. Shin is awesome and a credit to the city.

This was a quick pit-stop whilst visiting the motor museum, but we ended up staying for quite a while. The staff were friendly and welcoming and explained any dish on the menu we were not sure about. It went from being a quick lunch, to a 3 course meal. And we were not disappointed! The Pork Buns were so delicious! I'd go back for those alone. I eat a lot of Japanese food so I was pleased to find somewhere that delivered food packed with flavor. The Bento boxes I have to admit could have been improved slightly with their main compartment, but it was still tasty. And the Mochi to finish the meal was great too. I'd definitely visit again, but of an evening to see how the place differs. I recommend!

Ordered for delivery through deliveroo, order was late so rang the restaurant. My order had been delivered to the wrong place. No apology, just a statement of fact and then silence. I asked how long it would be until I received my food and was told 10 minutes. I could hear the man on the phone telling someone else to redeliver the original order which included sashimi (raw fish) and ramen (hot noodles). 20 minutes later and no food, I contacted the restaurant again to be told that the delivery driver has only just arrived. The restaurant by this point has closed.

Just got back from there, the staff is wonderful and the waitress was very kind and caring. Food is really good. It's true that it is expensive but you really get what you pay for. It's worth it

No real complaints about the premium Champon Ramen. Some of the best ramen you can find in the UK - and I’ve visited most of the famous London ones. The Oreo Cheesecake is incredible too. Interior decoration is really lovely though. They’ve really nailed a lovely atmosphere that fuses Western and Japanese aesthetics.

This place is a little gem with awesome food but shoddy cocktails and service let it down for us.

I didn't really know what to expect as had some trepidation about Japanese food. This proved unfounded as the choice is excellent and varied.

We visited shin ramen by chance as we were in the area.

Chicken pieces with ramen were raw in the middle. Ramen soup not flavoursome and eggs not marinated.

I've had many Katsus before and this is by far the best one I've had on the UK. I have been to Japan and ate till my heart was content and this tasted very traditional and like the real thing. I look forward to coming back here!

Food was fine but service was not equal to that. We had two starters and two noodles, the Tempura was average but the noodles were nice and decent portions. Hope next time go there would be seeing some warm smile . It matters.

Hubby requested this restaurant for his birthday treat. The service was OK (a bit slow as it was midweek ), but the food was excellent. Beers were a very reasonable price. A must do for foodies!

Came here a little last minute in the week, called ahead to see if a booking was required but we were told it should be quiet enough around half 5/6pm and sure enough it was very empty. It did, however, soon pick up at around 7 and was bustling with people when we left.

The Bento Box was amazing, and so was the iced green tea. Some fantastic looking dishes to try, and a Specials and BBQ menu also. Will definitely return 👍

I ordered it as a takeaway through Deliveroo. We ordered the Chicken Karrage Ramen for £8.95 which was supposed to be one meal but we got 3 different boxes and when called the restaurant they told us that we need to mix them in one meal. It didn't look like they belong together as the chicken nuggets were placed on a salad with lemon, we got hot water with egg in a different bowl, the ramen was like glue (see photos), the Chef’s Selection sushi,14 pieces for £13.50 was not fresh at all, and as you can see in my photos not really worth the prize... The Buta Kimchi Bibinba for £8.95 was advertised as Kimchi marinated pork, vegetables & egg served on a bed of rice in a hot stone bowl but the pork was practically non-existent- there were just a few paper thin slices of something that slightly resembled fried ham. Overall very disappointed!! I don't trust reviews anymore!!!!

Family visit at lunchtime. Fairly busy for a Wednesday. Great service from the young waitress. Helped my Mum to choose something suitable for her taste. We all enjoyed our meals. We had a mix of sushi, a bento box and Katsu chicken. Prices reasonable and 10% off if you pay with cash. Will be back

After leaving a nearby Restraunt due to poor customer service, Shin Ramen catered to 10 of us at short notice and provided exemplary customer service which was key when there were people in our party with allergens. The food was great, staff were very helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend.

It’s extremely hard to find good Japanese style food around Coventry but this place just blew me away tonight. We had a poor experience with another local restaurant and needed space for 10 people pretty quick! They rearranged tables to get us together in a bunch and added a couple of tables later on when they became free to give us a little more elbow room: we would have been fine as we were but it was so nice to be thought of after we’d been seated.

The food is delicious, authentic and beautifully presented. The service is friendly and the pricing very reasonably. The deco and music ties everything together very well. Also worth mentioning - they offer bottomless soft drinks and fantastic desserts.

We loved Shin. We've travelled a lot in asia and this ramen was really authentic. It seems to cater a lot for the large asian student population at coventry uni, which is very close. This gives it a very young annd trendy vibe. We'd definitely come back - in fact it might be worth a trip to coventry just to eat at Shin.

They may only have one vegetarian Ramen dish available, unlike some of the other Noodle establishments in Coventry, but when you have found perfection why dilute it. The Moyashi Ramen is worth inventing celebrations such as 'getting out of bed in the morning', just to have an excuse to go to Shin to eat it. The broth is perfectly balanced and with depth of flavour that is often lacking in a vegetarin broth, the noodles are slurpy and the boiled egg is served as it should be as a matter of course not as some £2.50 add on. The various meat eaters that I have dragged along seem happy with their food as well. Service is always good and atmosphere friendly.

We came here for dinner after reading reviews and really enjoyed it. The dumpling starters stuffed with prawn and pork were superb. So light and flavoursome. I could have eaten multiple batches out of greed! The duck ramen on specials board was delicioys; huge chunks of succulent meat and an abundance of noodles. Service was good and waitress was friendly. Only minor downside was the restaurant was so bright- would benefit from turning a few lights off in the evening.

A premise: I have eaten Japanese food in Japan and around the world since 1993. I am very particular about authentic dishes and often Japanese restaurants outside Japan, especially ramen restaurants, are really not what they should be.

We went as a family group on New Year' eve. My daughter is vegetarian, Her Boyfriend and myself not. This is not an issue with the menu, which has delicious options for vegetarians and carnivores alike. We had the BBQ chicken Yakiniku, Grilled Squid and various vegetarian dishes alongside Sushi and Sashimi. With wine, the price was very reasonable. In fact, surprisingly so, if you compare this standard of restaurant with other Japanese restaurants I have been to. The location of the restaurant in the vicinity of the Cathedral is also very central. I can recommend this restaurant warmly, and will visit again should the opportunity arise.

First time visit, went as a party of 3. Not many in when we arrived near 7.30 but a steady turn over of young Asian customers over the next hour or so.

I went to Shin Ramen with my fiance after hearing it opened in Coventry recently. The restaurant itself is very nicely presented and the seats are comfortable. There is plenty to choose from and the prices I would say are average. I haven't tried their sushi, but I have tried the ramen. The bowl of ramen I ordered was delicious and the taste was authentic, but I felt I didn't get enough to make me feel full. After having one bowl I felt I could finish another straight after!

We've been to several places that serve japanese chicken curry, and teppan chicken curry that is on the menu at Shin Ramen is hands down the best one we have tried so far.
