Me being a lover of Indian food had this place pointed out to me by a workmate. He was saying how good the samosa”s were, so on my way back to Stafford from wolves hospital I decided to drop in to pick some up, and WOW what an amazing place, as soon as you open the door the the beautiful smell of the food kicks your taste buds off. I found the staff very helpful and accommodating, I was like a kid in a sweet shop. So much choice and it looked beautiful. The samosa”s were amazing and I intend to go back time after time until I’ve sampled almost everything they have. I really can’t see why people give this place a negative review. But saying that I feel that it could be a little bitter payback from certain quarters.

Have been coming here since the summer and I can honestly say they do some amazing Samosa's that are always full of flavours and rather large for what you pay well worth a visit!

My and my wife have gone to this shop few times. What we experienced each time that the lady as well as the gent serving were rude or simply they don't know how to talk with a customer! It could also be the sales are going through their heads and they don't bother about the customers. We now keep ourselves off this shop. Food are generally alright but not so great

Rather than go for lunch elsewhere we called in at the Shere for a few snacks to take out. Everything is set out well and smells delious, the staff explain exactly what everything is so you know what your getting. We had masala fish, pakoras, veg and lamb samosas and a stuffed flat bread, it was just as good as last time and the quality is excellent with everything homemade. You can have as little as you like which is great if you want a selection of things, we'll worth a visit.

It's in my nature to use rhetoric to convince those I know this is one of the best in the area. Over the years the delights of savoury samosa's and pakora have travelled the length and breadth of the UK with me for token gestures and everyone agrees they are some of the best. Again, today, I travel the Shere Punjab Sweet Centre on behalf of someone else who wants an order for a buffet - I'm no salesman but you cannot fault these.

Good service, good food, to eat in or takeaway. Always enjoyed whatever I've had off the traditional menu. Cobra beer on draught. Good to pop in after the Wolves beer festival which is held nearby ( Newhampton Arts centre) once a year. Not in the best of areas, so choose your times.

We have been eating these for years , mostly at family parties. We live in S Wales but always make a point of calling in for vegetable or meat samosas and pakora when we are in the Midlands. Can't fault the consistent quality or value for money. We also like the sweet meats which are a speciality. Suggest you telephone ahead if buying in bulk as the take away is very popular. Plenty of other curries to choose from too.

Myself, my wife and daughter were just staying one night at the Redwings hotel near the football stadium and we're looking for something to do, and somewhere to eat.I noticed there was a park nearby so decided to visit that but thought I'd check out any restaurants near the park.Luckily we found this place, and so happy we did!First impressions - not so good, doesn't look like a high class establishment at all, however this was misleading. The staff were friendly, our waitress was lovely and very patient - tbh we must be a pain in the backside to serve! We ordered a couple of nan breads, chicken tikka masala (if you want creamy pink cack don't bother - this is beautifully spicy), Bombay potato (soft and delightful flavour), chicken Rogan Josh and paneer masala - all well cooked and authentic.I washed mine down with 3 pints of Cobra, at about 3 quid a pint, while my wife had a bottle of a well known rose wine which cost less than a tenner. We also got a complimentary plate of Punjabi sweets at the end of the meal, which came from the shop you have to walk through to get into the restaurant. If you're looking for classy surroundings this isn't the place for you, however it is clean and generally well presented. If you're looking for high quality, tasty and authentic food, this place is unmissable.

Aslo the staff are really friendly and helpfull

OK, so the number one thing you look for in a restaurant is the food, right? And here it is simply wonderful. We tend to use the takeway service, but have eaten in a couple of times too. Big hearty portions of food full of flavours and textures. Easy on the pocket, far too tempting to be easy on the waistline, service that's so-so but happy, and a location that means it's an overlooked treasure. If you want delicate pretty portions of picturesque morsels then you'd do well to look elsewhere, this is wonderful Punjabi food, ranging from the delicately spiced and intricately flavoured to the full-on heat-infused joy-giving smile-raising bellyful! We recently visited another Indian restaurant for the first time (It was Rickshaw on Chapel Ash, nice food - review later) and upon hearing it was our first visit there but we'd lived in the city for 5 years, the waiter asked where we usually went. When we told him it was Shere Punjab he replied "Oh, that's proper hardcore Punjabi food!" Yes! Result! and that's why we love Shere, consistently top-notch, hearty portions, easy on the pocket. What more could you want?

When it comes to Indian food, you know you're onto a winner when you actually see Indians in there... eating...!!!Situated in Whitmore Reans in Wolverhampton (Leicester Square... I kid you not), it has become a bit of a national treasure amongst the locals and all who have been able to find it; although they have had a very nice sign put outside now.You have to go into the Indian sweet centre adjoining it, which has a small archway inside that takes you to the restaurant. Make no mistake this is not the Ritz; if you're after glam... go elsewhere. If you're after a taste of real authentic punjabi nosh, make yourself at home. The service is laid back, relaxed and informal... what the arrogant would call lazy, but those in the know how would call chilled. But you're here for food, and believe me it's the best Indian food this side of the Indian ocean. Although be prepared to wait as the food is made fresh from scratch. I could go on and on about all the quality food, tastes and tantalising aromas; but I'm not. Get yourself down here and finish off my review for me...

The Shere Punjab is one of those places that has always been there and (I hope) always will. The restaurant part of the business has always seemed incidental to the retail side that sells excellent Indian sweets and savouries and it wouldn't be your first choice for a romantic dinner. What it's great for is parties and special occasions with a larger group of people.About a dozen of us turned up and we had booked a buffet as if you turn up and order when you arrive you can be in for a long wait. The atmosphere was very relaxed and informal as usual and the poppadums and starters arrived in a steady stream, all very tasty. The main dishes that followed were nice but rather plain compared to the first course, accompanied by a good selection of naans and rice.To top it off I was surprised that the Cobra larger was very drinkable but if you're not keen on that the options are limited. The service was friendly, informal and efficient. All in all a great night out - especially if your group brings its own atmosphere!

Consistently the best curries I’ve ever tasted; and I’ve had a lot! The Shere Punjab now looks a bit more inviting from the outside (it used to look like a haunted laundrette); but that really doesn’t matter on this occasion as it’s always been cosy enough inside – and now has a bit more polish, paint and colour to the interior – and (most importantly of all) the food in here is so delicious and authentic that it would be worth a visit even of there were no roof! The people you’re most likely to see at the tables within are usually from the local Asian and Italian communities: what does that tell you? Further endorsement comes to you courtesy of my wife, who had to be dragged in one night several years back – and from her first mouthful of food declared this to be one of the true sites of sheer bliss on the planet, in terms of charming service and quite astonishingly fine dining without the slightest hint of pretence and actually in as down-to-Earth a setting as you’re going to discover. From me: well, you will never eat a tastier or fresher madras, vindaloo or dopiaza (all house specialities – which also include the magnificent Desi Chili Chicken, which you have to specify as it’s not officially on the menu but you won’t be sorry you did, Desi being a fabulously sticky Punjabi liqueur which interacts amazingly with the scorching chicken). The poppadums, chapatis, kulchas and nan breads (the peshwar in particular) are similarly fresh and exquisite: as is every constituent of the heroic “mix grill,” in which different components are subtly, differently and beautifully spiced. If you knew me you would understand what a true dream destination this is for me!We have friends who travel miles to get the keema (minced lamb) chana (chick-pea) mushroom (...yes) balti (incredible) and fit in a visit to us as a secondary mission! Plus, together we once ventured to request a keema vindaloo; which turned out to be a wonderful revelation and is now on the menu! It’s hot, of course; but the heat is in the flavour, the sensationally strong, steely taste – as opposed to simply being in there as some Napalm-derivative to excite the kind of morons that see this sublime food as some sort of testosterone challenge (and whom you will never see in the Shere Punjab, I promise). The place does a deserved roaring trade in take-aways, similarly world-class: but do dine in, as this is one of those places which feels like you’ve been headed here all your life once you get here – that’s basically because you may think you’ve had great curries in the past (and probably have, it is a lovely food-stuff and there are plenty of great places...) but, honestly if you’ve not had a Shere Punjab curry you can never be quite as addicted to this classic cuisine as you imagine you are. And I actually envy you, ‘cause now you’ve hopefully got the marvel of your first visit (of many, I’ll bet) ahead of you.
