Friendly Staff Food tasty - Regular Cod and Chips and Large Sausage and chips Chips lovely and fluffy Reasonable price Would recommend

Had to visit Newport on Friday and called in at this fish bar just after two o’clock to be met by a serving lady who is in desperate need of a customer relations course. Staring out of the window whilst ignoring waiting customers and an apparent inability to use the words “thank you” isn’t the way to encourage trade. The fish we had was excellent as were the chips; a shame that such quality food should be marred by very offhand service.

Overcooked - usually one of the best places to go for chips in Newport. But jad the worst ever experience here today. The chips were over cooked and tastless. Hopefully it gets back to being better soon!!

Their sausages are GREAT, their chips are also good. My nan loved the fish, she said "it's so fresh, it's the best fish shop in Wales" I agree with her. I recommend.

Great food good opening hours great for a full day really nice staff and great area for me I really love this fish and chip shop and definitely recommend it to all people that like fish and chips my favourite place to eat

ordered cheese on chips, steak pie, sausage and batter etc - didn’t revive the steak pie and had gravy on the chips which we did not ask for and was still charged for it all

We have had fish and chips here for the past 3 weeks on request from my 99 year old after we had a vet appointment to close to tea time. I must say it was the best we've had in a long time. Maris piper potatos were used( they use a chalk board to let customers know 👍) for their chips and we're so lovely and fresh and the batter on the fish was so light. Very clean fish shop, friendly staff, quick service and no problem parking . 👍🥰

Delicious. Freshly cooked. Very tasty. Served by lovely staff. Hadn’t had fish and chips for ages but this is the only plaice ( sorry for pun couldn’t resist) we’d go.

Service was great we’ll set up for covid , the chips weren’t the warmest the cod still had the skin on the bottom ☹️

We recently had a fantastic day at Walnut Tree Farm and on the way home we felt peckish. Due to being unfamiliar with the area we googled takeaways and decided to visit Sheppard's Fish and Chip Shop based on their fantastic reviews. The fish & chip shop was about 4 miles from Wallnut Tree Farm. There was a great menu and I ordered a chip butty with a fruity curry sauce, my partner had a large fish and chips and our son had a small battered sausage, chips and beans. When we arrived at the fish shop there was a queue (sign of a popular chip shop). We were met by a polite and friendly member of staff who dealt with our order efficiently. There was a short wait for our meals because the fish was cooked fresh to order. The portion sizes were excellent, the food was perfectly cooked and our meals tasted delicious. We would definitely recommend a visit because our experience was fantastic and the food was great value for money.

After searching the reviews chose Sheppards and very happy we chose them. Large piece of Cod cooked from scratch. Excellent and couldn't have been better. Large portion of chips. Plenty of chips; just cooked right and not too oily which is never good. Would definitely go back.

This is the only place we will go as it’s the best fish and chips around we even drive from pontypool just to have them, wouldn’t go anywhere else 😋

Well where to start really, friendly staff, large portions all cooked perfectly guess that’s why we keep going back, already looking forward to the next visit in 2020, keep up the great service and food ladies Thanks Ian

Live local and usually visit here at least once a week, have been doing this for a few years now. Fish (cod) is lovely. They rarely have haddock, and might as well remove it from the menu. They stopped selling chicken burgers recently too. Some staff are friendly it's a pleasure to serve their customers. Others not so, and there's one particularly surly woman who seems to have started working here recently, they need to have a word, she's quite rude to customers.
