Shepherds Tavern in City of London, Westminster

The pub is tucked away in a lovely old street - very Georgian - with beautiful wooden panelling everywhere - lovely atmosphere. The waitress was friendly and the service was efficient. Some of us had roast beef and the others roast chicken. The chicken went down really well but not so the beef. I couldn’t eat my meat - it was practically raw with a lot of fat. Everything else on the plate though was delicious - the vegetables, gravy and the Yorkshire pudding was excellent. The side order of cauliflower cheese was horrible: it was as if a load of processed cheese had just been melted over some boiled cauliflower. We all ordered the sticky toffee puddings and they were really good - we all cleared our plates.

We came for Sunday roast and we overall thought it was really tasty. Two of us got the Sunday roast and we thought it was great. The other got fish. Overall it was a great meal. The bathrooms are in the basement and the food is on the second floor so not ideally suited for anyone who has difficulty maneuvering.

This delightful spot in shepherds market checked every box. The setting is charming, the service and the food wonderful and the prices reasonable for the quality.

Excellent pub to visit in a lovely area of town. Upstairs there is a very classic and well kept dinning room. The food was of a very high quality (especially the beef wellington, the best I've had) and the service was friendly and attentive. Downstairs there is the pub with a fantastic range of London beers on tap, not for unreasonable prices given the area. The interior decor was very well maintained and again the bar staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. There is also a very extensive wine listing.

Were walking back from Regent Street on Friday evening and trying to find a place to get simple fish and chips without waiting in a long line. i had written this place on a piece of paper and stuck it in my purse. They take reservations on open table and I was able to get a table within the hour and it was very close to our Mayfair hotel. The upstairs is a quaint old pub atmosphere. The fish and chips were good. They had decent wine selections for a reasonable price. Service was very good. I would definitely come back here if i was in the area and looking for basic pub food. Much better than the other pub food I had last trip.

I don’t understand the 5 star review, this is an average pub that serves average pub grub. The burgers were small and dry, the mushroom risotto had been warmed up. When we were there on Sunday 5 May there was a significant flood in the ladies and a mop and bucket had been left there presumably to allow customers to mop up. The staff upstairs were pleasant enough, but don’t expect more than average and you’ll be fine.

Dined here yesterday ahead of trip to cinema. The Sunday roast was very average, horseradish not added to the plate I had to ask for it. The most disappointing aspect was the staff. The dining room was clearly empty (only two tables had diners) however the young Indian man needed to ask the manager if they had a place for me. His response was “yes she can sit here”. Perhaps he thought I was deaf as again he said “here give her this knife”. Very unwelcoming. I did make a point of mentioning the poor service as was forgotten about when I arrived when it came to ordering. When I did give constructive feedback to the Indian waiter, he sent the manager over who said “I hear there is a problem with the food”. Talk about not listening to customers and what exactly they are saying. They did take 10% off the bill and gave me a complimentary glass of wine however it will take a lot for me to return. Such a shame as it's my go to place to take clients and I don't need to hear about the food lift being broken and the fact that he is trying to support staff on both floors. Better options available in this vicinity where you won't be inappropriately called "my love" several times by the male duty manager.

Great pub with a great selection of beers, my favourite is London pilsener and Stefania the manager makes us few so welcome every time we are there, James is also a great server, for food I loved the beef Wellington or the traditional fish and chips, Thanks guys

It’s in the heart of Mayfair, in Shepherd Market, but felt t like a neighborhood pub. Friendly staff with a nice beer selection. I think there’s a beer for every taste. Varied clientele; families, couples, young professionals, older people, etc. we would like to have tried the upstairs dining room cos’ we’d heard good things and the menu sounded good, but alas, it didn’t line up with our schedule. Good atmosphere in the downstairs bar area.

Had a reservation for dinner in the historic & charming room upstairs (downstairs is a very busy pub bar). Unfortunately we had enjoyed a late and full lunch, but came in to see what it was all about since we had the reservation just for drinks. The menu and the food being served all looked excellent. Do much more than typical pub food. The cauliflower soup was delicious and the crouton topping was over the top good. My lamb was perfectly prepared and the sides were superb. My wife had a perfect beef Wellington which was so worth the wait. Wow. Service was attentive and super friendly. Fair prices.

Myself and 15 industry colleagues enjoyed a fabulous "Not House" lunch at The Chesterfield Arms on Friday. The food was very tasty, yet inexpensive for Mayfair. Set in an informal pub atmosphere which was entirely fitting for this lunch, Stefana and her team really looked after us and even served decorated Happy Birthday desserts for two of us which was a nice gesture and totally unexpected. We will definitely return.

After a relaxing morning at the nearby Curzon Cinema I decided to try here for lunch. I was not disappointed! The roast was plentiful and fresh, they have a new chef and the difference was noticeable from the first bite. What made this experience so special was the lovely waitress Katie. Despite flying solo she managed to stay calm and accommodate all requests in an efficient and friendly manner. A true asset to The Chesterfield Arms. I am looking forward to returning again very soon! ❤️

3 of us went for dinner on a Thursday evening as part of a recent stay in London. It was also my friends birthday just a few days earlier but as he lives in the Isle of Man this was the first chance we had to celebrate with him. In summary we were really impressed with everything. The service was impeccable, the quality of the food was excellent and we really enjoyed being in the dining room upstairs from the pub. It was really busy but a great atmosphere and vibe. What struck us was the value for money given we were in the middle of Mayfair. At c.£40 per head for 2 courses, beers, wine etc you really couldn't fault it at all. On top of all that my friend got a free pint for his birthday! Any time we are back in that part of London we will be back at the Chesterfield Arms. Many thanks for helping to contribute to a fantastic London trip away.

Unfortunate experience with a female member of staff who was happy to give out the banter but very defensive when reciprocated. Thought it was on humorous level on both sides until she refused to serve us another drink so ended up going to the much more hospitable Grapes just around the corner. .

Really wonderful evening spent at The Chesterfield Arms. This restaurant was recommended to us by the concierge at our nearby hotel and it was all we hoped for. The downstairs pub area was totally packed and everyone was having a great time. We chose to go upstairs and have dinner where it was really quiet and a lovely setting. As tourists of course, we were looking for a great fish and chips dinner... being in London and all, and it was Amazing! The only thing better than the fish was the dessert of sticky toffee OMG my husband still talks about it. Our only disappointment was that we were leaving the next day and couldn't go back and try other dishes, but we will for sure on our next visit. Lastly and most importantly was our server Ali. She couldn't have been more lovely and gracious. She sat us at wonderful table next to an open window with a view and never left us wanting for anything. 5 minutes after we arrived I started a bit of a cough (allergies) and without a word she disappeared and made me a big pot of hot water filled with honey and loads of lemons. She kept it coming util the cough subsided. We were so impressed with her. She was a huge part of what made the dining experience wonderful. Thank you!

We chose this old English pub because it had great reviews, and they are well deserved. The customer service from Chris and Tom was outstanding. The food was amazing (my husband was brave enough to declare the chicken to be the best he’d ever had, even over my own cooking) and as a vegetarian coeliac the allergen menu was so easy to navigate and the options were not as limited as they usually are, I thoroughly enjoyed my miso Caesar and triple cooked chips! I highly recommend this beautiful old English pub!
