Stopped very late on a sat evening. Girl serving was wonderful, friendly and couldn't do enough. Food (fish supper) was cooked to perfection and we will definitely be back

Best chips in Ballynahinch. Try the belly buster burger. Fish supper is first class too.

Went just after Christmas so it was really busy as most other chippies in town were closed. Between the people already ordering and the phone/online orders coming through we probably waited a good 40 minutes in total. I would say it was worth it though. lovely chicken and chips and the curry sauce was as good as any chinese. Next time would order ahead though..

If I could give half a star I would terrible food rude staff not to mention the black hair I found in my kebab won’t be back had to stand in the rain and wind for half an hour just to get a black hair in my mouth furthermore wrong sauce on the kebab - mick

We would highly recommend eating out from Shelly's. This was the first time trying here and we weren't disappointed. The food was delicious, great portions and the staff were very friendly. We will be back and we will be recommending them to others, already have started.

One or the nicest chippys I’ve visited in terms of food quality and it’s always been well cooked. Even though I’ve only popped in a couple times, the girls remembered me and my order which was nice. Only gripe I can have is it’s quite expensive but portions are fantastic to compensate.

Family and I walked into Shelly’s right before closing time and counter staff and cook were happy to help us. Very ample servings, and great food and friendly service. Appeared to be take-away only, but places to sit and wait. If I didn’t live 4500 miles away I’d eat here often. (Cod and chips were tremendous.)

First time, certainly not our last. Service and food, both excellent. 100% if your a first timer.. go for the fish and chip 😙👌, you will not be disappointed.

Do not order the chicken super - it definitely won’t be what you are expecting! They claim to have never changed their recipe yet I’ve had it many times before. This evening after a 12 hour shift I got home to find, Mexican chicken on chips, not the chicken super I thought I’d order yet Shelley’s claim it’s the same thing? I also ordered 2 sausages and got 1? 2.20 for 1 sausage! Poor food and poor customer service when I rang them to say they had given me the wrong thing! Safe to say the dog got the lot!

A really good chip shop with tasty food . First class

Just got a cod supper; fish was very thin and more greasy than anything I’ve had in my life, about as much flavour as a piece of cardboard. Chips were alright given the greasy fish had been sitting on top diffusing oil like it’s going out of fashion. I can still feel the oil coated around my mouth, I will not be returning.

Lovely food that tastes how it should. Good value, pleasant atmosphere and staff. Ordering is easy and well organised. Car park right beside the shop.

Shellys carryout fish & chip premises "dead on" re the quality of the items on sale. Beside this chip shop is a Pizza carryout unit which is "dead on".( same ownership ?) Ulster people's utter "DEAD ON" meaning " "Tickety Boo" Spot on". So there ye go.

Unfortunately after previous great service, waited over 50 minutes for my order. Over heard staff asking if they had made the order, turns out they had forgotten.

Went there this evening after work, I ordered by phone to be told my order will be ready in ten to fifteen minutes, went there ten minutes later only to wait twenty minutes then to be told that my order was not taken by the person I spoke to on the phone, never going there again, we all wear a mask these days in shops but shellys make you take your mask of to speak to them, as they say they cant understand what you are saying, Really!!!! how bad is that during a pandemic!! they even laugh at you when you speak to them while wearing a mask! and there where eight of them working there and not one of the staff where waring a mask.

Food was greasy and order wrong. Told order would be 30 minutes. Waited for 45 to find food had been made but I hadn't been told. Had previous bad experience but everyone deserves a second chance. Will not be using again.

I bought two fish suppers from Shelly's on Sunday evening. The staff were very diligent about checking the fish was cooked as they kept sticking temperature probes into to them. Unfortunately the fish was overcooked, very dry and almost tasteless. The batter was the same, quite rubbery and not at all crispy as it should be. The chips were even worse as they had clearly been cooked at least half an hour before I arrived. I could see the little retaining basin where they were scooped from. When I arrived it was full of chips. They had been kept warm but were unpleasant unappetising. I only ate a few of them.

Just OK, fish bit dry & portion was small for a fish supper. Chips were good and mushypeas were really nice.

Friendly staff and delicious food

Have been going to this place since it was just a wee van. Food and staff are lovely. Their cod is massive and you always get a good amount of chips. Favourite place to eat and very handy.😊😋

Very nice and very tasty fish. Ordered a carry out by phone and it was waiting when I arrived. Drove 20 minutes home and the food was still very hot.

Have visited here a few times and on each occasion the food has been very good. Well presented, tasty, and served with a smile. Try the Taco Mince, it is delicious. The premises are very clean, I couldn't fault it.

Ordered in this place more than once and never get the right order that ive asked for and when ure eating out and spending ure hard earned cash u expect wot u have orderd to the way u want it not wot shellys can be bothered doing.. safe to say i wnt be back and will put people of from eating in there chip shop.. very upset and angry..

Good food brilliant friendly staff

When they had the chip van, they were actually okay, it was good value for money, then they moved to a new (practically the old building but done up), you wouldve thought things would go up a notch. Time I went to get a fish supper, it wasnt fast food, waiting ages, fish was okay, chips were as hard as the road, you would've thought they used the leftovers from the previous day. Maybe they've gone up to higher level since I got something out of there.

Absolute disgrace of a place. I have going to this place for a while and on the last 5 occasions they have got my order wrong! When I dared ask them to change it they were down right rude, arrogant and accuse me off ordering the wrong thing! Plus they are organised caos. Take a terrible long time to make a chip, rude argumentive. What happened to the customer is always right! These guys need to work on their service skills

Shellys after speaking to someone in the fish market I now know you do not use fresh fish !! After my experience and my families experience I believe your fish is frozen and could be for 6 months !!! This was an experts advise ! Totally disappointed and the side effects we all had were not normal

We looked at the menu. A lady with white hair leaning on the counter ask me what I wanted. I looked at my young son, ask him, then I repeat what he said to the member of staff. She give me a price. The price I saw was different. I pointed to the price on the board. Her rude reply to me in a bossy voice was NO YOU NEED TO TELL ME THAT IT WAS A KIDS MEAL. I was really realty embarrassed I had never been there before. Why couldn't she ask me if it was a kids meal, as I am a paying customer. I really was mortified the way she spoke to me. I will not be going back to Shellys Chip shop ever again.

Lovely food & very friendly staff,,would eat out of here every now & then & the food never fails to please..good portion sizes & dont have to wait to long on your order..would recommend the fish its the nicest ive tasted from any chippy..

The food here is great..staff friendly and they take telephone orders. Great variety and even have a mid day mania meal which is great value for money..give it a try ..

A good store with a large selection of meals. The staff are very friendly, although I was waiting a considerable amount of time for my meal. I would still recommend here over some of the other takeaways in Ballynahinch

Terrible experience, I went here on recommendation from a friend and I was disgusted by the service I recieved. The looks my friend got for never having eaten a kebab were enough to curdle milk. On being asked what "donor" meant, the girl at the till responded "well it's just donor meat?" and I was hit with "really??" on my request for tomato ketchup. Service took very long with customers ordering after me leaving more than ten minutes before I was served. On my way out the paper bag my food was in disintegrated and my food hit the floor. The chips, however, were very good but I attribute this to my being hungry af by the time I actually got to eat it. Shelly's more like HELLy's.

Got fish,chips for 4 tonight as a takeaway. The fish was good ,but i dont know what are you doing with ya chips lately they are enough to break ya teeth on . I avice you to use lest dry white when you are stepping them down or ya leaving them blanched over heat to long

Shelly's used to be a static van across the road but due to the quantity of their service and food they have expanded to proper premises providing both sit in and take out.

I've always loved shelleys since it was a chip van! But I have to say I was really disappointed this evening when "greeted" by a girl with a lowesy attitude, when I asked for my order she handed over the bag and I had to remind her twice about the drinks. There was no salt and vinegar even after requested when I rang in the order and then they forgot the dips with the meal. It just seemed like no care was taken in preparation. A shame for somewhere I've loved for ages!

Shelly's used to be a static Fish & Chip Van but due to the quality of their food and increased business they have moved to nearby premises and now provide sit-in and carryout. There is a pay car park at the side of Shelly's and lay-by providing free parking directly outside the premises. The staff are friendly. I have never had any cause for complaint about either staff or food and this ensures my repeat business.
