Shax Burger in Dundee City

The food was great as always. One of my favourite places to order from when I’m too busy to cook dinner

Great burgers as usual and they even helped me to my car!

Food was amazing albeit a bit cold and there was an item missing which was promptly refunded. Main gripe is delivery time. Ordered at 20:07 and didn’t arrive until around 22:45 which is far too long of a wait.

Absolutely superb, as always. Fresh and tasty and delivered piping hot!

Burger was immaculate, fresh chicken, perfectly crispy, chips were brilliant too.

3rd time we have ordered and 3 times it has been late

Food was late chips were soggy and cold burger wasn’t that great I’m gluten free so ordering a take away is very expensive I paid £19 for a take away to be so so late I couldn’t even eat it. So disappointing I’ve ordered from hear before and it was amazing this is such let down..

The food was great but it took around 2 hours from ordering to get to us. The estimated time of delivery was already changed once. Appreciate it was Saturday night but this should have already been factored in.

I recommend the Nashville chicken tenders the most. They were so moist and soft, spicy but not too much and the tenders eaten with the ranch were amazing. The burger was okay but the rose and pistachio shake was great too

Have ordered well over 20x from Shax, the usual order is the Nashville fries and coated wings with Buffalo sauce. Sometimes mix it up and go extra spicy fries but then the wings sometimes come spicy. Sometimes the food is amazing, sometimes its merhh okay ish. Seems no consistency which is a shame as probavly 2 out of 3 times the food is amazing, its like a different chef is cooking everytime. The wings tonight were like a sparrows armpit which is a drastic change to the usual juicy delights. Still our favourite place to order but needs more consistency please 🙏 Review number 2: AMAZING. Had the onion shredder burger with cheesy fries and a shake. Burger was meant to be served on the charcoal brioche but it was more of a blue color than black which kinda ruined the imagery but tasted OK. The cheesy Fries and the shake made the meal.

Food ordered for collection, took 20 minutes longer than stated even though the place wasn’t busy. Then got home only to find they’d got one of the two burgers wrong. Typical thin burger tasting solely of burger sauce. Fries were good but very disappointing for a £30 meal.

Shax No Burger If you’ve ever wanted to embark on a culinary adventure that makes waiting for a burger feel like an Olympic sport, then Shax Burger is your dream destination! They promise your food will arrive in 70 minutes, but after 90 minutes of staring at my phone like a love-sick puppy, I finally called to check on my order. And guess what? They hadn’t even started cooking! They informed me it would take another 30 minutes to whip up my meal and deliver. And hey I was willing to wait - these things happen. But well after the additional 30 minutes passed, I called back again. This time, they told me it would be another 20 minutes. Finally, after nearly three hours of waiting, Deliveroo swooped in to cancel my order. And just when I thought the saga was over, a driver appeared at my door, looking as confused as I was, demanding I pay again—even though my original payment was still pending on my card! So, if you enjoy the taste of disappointment mixed with a sprinkle of absurdity and a side of confusion, then by all means, dive into Shax Burger. Otherwise, do yourself a favour: steer clear and save your time and sanity!

Very friendly staff in this clean and beautifully decorated restaurant. The burger was excellent, we had the classic with cheese and onion, accompanied with the best fries we've ever had! We will absoloutely visit again.

ordered food AT 12:12PM so i had plenty if time to eat it before leaving for work which i started at 3pm, food had not arrived by 14:30pm which is when i leave for work, unsure of how the food quality was due to not being able to collect the food

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND Came in and the guy told me the order would take around 15 mins. The order was given to me nearly 40 mins later. I then open the fries to see them all black and they looked pretty old and they looked overall pretty nasty and not edible at all WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

As always I love the food, I’ve never had anything I haven’t enjoyed from this place. They are usually great with their delivery time but they were quite busy tonight and were late, I was starving! The driver was lovely and apologised for the delay. Great service, excellent food :)

The food here was so fresh and delicious.. was so clean i couldnt believe that i was eating the angus beef burger with beef bacon! The loaded fries were also really nice with crispy chicken pieces on top to compliment the salad and sauces Had a really good experience and craving some more!

Food is delish one of the best burgers and fries ive ever had! Service staff are lovely friendly and very good at what they do! I will defo be back! I cannot fault anything even my shake was a 10!! If u havent been here get ur arse down here!

Quality of food wasn’t great, was late as ordered at 1600 or there after and it didn’t come till after 1720. Food was cold also and definitely not worth almost £48 for three meals. Sorry to say I won’t be back.

Shax Burger in Dundee is an absolute gem! Their smashed burgers are incredibly delicious, made from a 30-day dry-aged Aberdeen Angus in a custom blend using the finest cuts. The flavor is outstanding and truly a cut above the rest. Their wings are also a must-try—tasty and perfectly cooked. The staff here are very welcoming and kind, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended if you're visiting Dundee!

The biggest thing was finding a halal establishment, which this place is. I was amazed by Shax! If you’re looking for American Style burgers and fries, then this is the place! They’re amazingly delicious!

Had a Shax burger and loaded bird fries for the first time today and honestly all I can say it was amazing best food I have had in a long time

Brilliant spot for good fresh Burgers. Every time I have went they never fail to disappoint. Their milkshakes and cookie dough are really nice also! I would definitely recommend.

Placed an order at NOON Stated that it would be delivered at 1PM. Delivery came at 1:36PM. For a place which charged £40 odd just for 2 burger meals, it was absolutely horrible, The food was cold and fries were soggy. Very unhappy !!!

Halal meat! Dined in and ordered burger and fries with a smoothie. Few tables for sitting in. Reasonably priced. Recommended a burger by the man on the till and decided to go ahead with it. Generous portions and fries were very crispy. Would come back again definitely recommend

Burger and chips hot and tasted unreal!!

Perfect burger and fries. The Onion Shredder is my favourite burger in the country, hands-down. Nobody else makes a perfect oklahoma-style onion smash burger except for Shax! And the lemon pepper fries are the perfect way to mop up any leftover sauce.

Absolutely shocking. The only mitigation I can give is that the burger had to travel a couple of miles to get to. It was almost inedible due to it being cold. My fault as I know burgers don't travel well but this was absolutely tasteless and I had to smother it in sauce. Never again. It should have learned my lesson by now. I just thought this gourmet burger would be differerent . 🤦‍♂️

The place was empty when we went in which is a shame, but I suspect the takeaway (just eat/Uber eats) is busy enough that dine in custom whilst welcome isn't relied upon. Because it was quiet there wasn't much of an atmosphere to score, but my daughter and I had a pleasant enough time waiting for our food. Staff were polite and friendly though not much chat, which is fine. Takeaway orders seemed to be taking priority, meaning we waited a little longer than you'd expect for our food hence 4/5 on service. The food however was absolutely worth the wait. I've eaten many a burger in my life, I would walk back to shax for another 'big smoke' with a side of lemon pepper fries. The burger itself was delicious but the addition of smoked pulled brisket was sensational. Daughter had the classic cheeseburger which was also excellent with regular fries, though she couldn't finish her burger as it was quite big for a 6yr old in hindsight though they do have a kids menu. Overall best burger I've had in a long time anywhere, probably the best I've ever had in Dundee. I haven't lived in Dundee for years but would come back just to grab a shax for sure.

Ordered food at 18:58pm. Was advised delivered by 19.45. Called restaurant at 20.03pm to check on delivery. Guy who answered was not interested in speaking to me at all. He told me the order left the restaurant over 25 minutes ago however they take 4 orders out at a time and some deliveries are maximum an hour away. I asked what would be the next steps as i preempt my food will evidently arrive cold and soggy to which he advised ‘its in a hotbox and we have had no complaints before’. I explained to the guy on phone if you have fresh food, such as chips, wrap it up in cardboard or any other means, then keep it in a ‘hot box’ then the food will become soggy and wet. Guy on the phone again said ‘no complaints before’ when i asked what the next steps would be. Call was left there. Ridiculous service for cold soggy food. Food finally delivered. And as assumed, soggy and horrid. Now time to call restaurant back to complain but no doubt will be passed off again.

Fantastic food, great customer service and would recommend

We wondered in and everyone was friendly. We had loaded fries, and a burger and fries. Totally delicious. We sat in as we are in town for a night, most people seem to get take aways. Highly recommend the food.

Orders never get delivered in time and no one pick phone. Its been 2hrs since order placed and restaurant didn't deliver and neither pick calls. Absolute joke

The food is not worth the amount of waiting you have to do. The same thing has happened the last two times I ordered where even after 1 hour past the the expected delivery time, the food did not arrive. And when you try calling the restaurant, no one picks up. It's ridiculous. As it is, the order preparation and delivery time is 85 minutes, which almost always gets extended and the order still doesn't arrive on time. Probably going to stop ordering from here.

The expected delivery time was between 8:30-8:50 when I ordered at around 7:30, when it past the latter time of 20:50, I then asked for a text about my order, when I was then told it would be with me at 9:40, the food finally arrived at 9:45. Over 2 hours after I ordered the food. I requested my money back for this and it has been declined as they have said “it was busier than they expected” which for an established takeaway to say for a Friday night isn’t really acceptable

Hit and miss of a place. Don’t recommend the chicken burgers as they covered with too much batter and the marinade isn’t spicy at all. I can only recommend the beef burgers.

Great food if your willing to wait 1+ hours

Not very happy with the service at shaxs this weekend. we ordered at 20:19 and got two burgers and chips which didn’t arrive until 23:16. We waited over three hours for our food which is crazy for the price I paid. I understand it was Friday and it was busy but three hours is too long to be waiting. I phoned and complained and didn’t really get an apology or a partial refund for waiting that long. I am a regular custom and really like the burgers however waiting over three hours is not okay.

The food tastes good but the customer service is lacking. One of the items in our order was wrong and the buttermilk chicken seems to cause acid reflux.

More than 2h to get the order, terrible service, the app didn’t help at all with the issue. Really dissatisfied

Absolutely terrible. Sat for over waiting when the order was meant to be ready. I understand that they are busy but they should set realistic timescales. This has happened to other customers tonight. The food is good but be prepared to wait hours and not have your expectations managed.

Best burgers in town and also very lovely loaded fries!

Amazing experience as always. Super wonderful at fulfilling requests. Chippies are just the crunchiest and fluffiest best things ever. Reasonable pricing for large portions. Milkshakes are all delectable and worth getting as a treat even by themselves. Chicken cooked perfectly every time. Wide variety. Just a 10/10 all around.
