Shawarma King in Glasgow City

Went quite late on Saturday night and all that was left was the BBQ chicken shawarma which wouldn’t have been my first choice but oh man it was amazing! Can’t wait to go back and try the lamb and chicken ones. The baklava was also amazing, especially at 75p

Mixed feelings about Shawrma King. The shawarma itself was fine, the bread was the best bit and the filling was okay. Perhaps the other good reviews just highlight other poor shawarmas in the area? Service was shoddy. My biggest irritation is that they say they open at 11am, but when I went at that they weren’t ready to serve, asking me to come back at 1130 and again at 1200. If you’re not ready to serve food at the opening time then change the opening time. So a very okay experience. I won’t be rushing back.

Hi All, I really loved the mixed shawarma wrap (£6), I enjoyed it without any regrets. The only fault that I found is that the shop is selling soft drink that shouldn't be sold separately. I think we should all follow the law, wherever we are present. A simple note for the owner: Please rectify this mistake, "ASAP". Kind regards

Price is reasonable and its a good quality of food for takeaway. There is a wee seating outside just nearly four five chairs for waiting or for anyone who wanna eat there.

Sadly a poor experience, ordered and they forgot about us for more than half an hour. Asked multiple times and told it would be soon, but let us wait longer. 35 minutes all in. Won't be back.

Best shawarma kebabs about. Never get tired of this place and always keep coming back. Staff are very friendly. Premises is clean and tidy

Food is amazing. Never been disappointed with an order. It's busy and you'll have to wait for your food. At least its freshly made and super tasty! Avoid the lamb if you don't like greasy food, I love geasy food!

Went to this place based on someone feed phil episode, it does live upto the mark...chicken and meat was an awesome combo and the Turkish buttermilk was too good

Disgusting, unhygienic food place because it’s been 2 day I’m sick and on bed because of eating their lamb shawarma kebab wrap. I heard good about them but find totally opposite I drove 35 min and 25min wait because they were not answering phone and end up with sore stomach & vomiting and sleepless night so please stay away from this place.

It's nice to wait in line with folks truly excited for their lunch. We tried Shawarma King after walking several miles around town and it hit the spot - though I could only manage the half size, not the large. It's greasier than I like my shawarma, but the baba ganoush was absolutely delicious and unique. Definitely worth the hype, even if not perfect for my tastes.

The Kofte wrap they make is absolutely phenomenal. You can tell they care about the product and the quality of every ingredient. Puts 99% of kebab shops to absolute shame considering the prices compete with them.

The longer this place is open the worse it gets...clearly becoming complacent through it's previous reputation. The food, while average, lacks a certain spark that sets apart. The shawarma could benefit from better quality. I had several pieces of massive fat chunks within the lamb shawarma. All in all, Shawarma King is a barely average choice for budget-friendly fare. It's a spot that clearly understands the importance of value for money, which is indeed a winning trait. However, by paying attention to the nuances of taste/consistentancy and quality, Shawarma King could elevate itself.

Fresh and looking good wraps, but chunky not very well seasoned meat, probably the worst shawarma I've had in Glasgow. After hearing a lot about this place I feel super disappointed and I'd never order again.

Food is excellent as the lamb Shwarma is the best I've tried. Only loses a point on it being a takeaway with virtually no seating (4 seats total) and a typical 20-30 minute wait for food at all times.

I haven't eaten a better kebab in Scotland than this one. The meat is obviously craft prepared by the owners. The meat tastes clean and tender, like real meat, not like a dog minced up with his kennel like in most Indian cousines here. Amazing.

The chicken shawarma is a bit too sour for my liking, but everything else is really good and really large portions!

If you like a bit spicy food, then Shawrma King is not for you. Spent plenty of time in waiting, and when got served, it was revealed that shawarmas were tasteless.

Been meaning to go for ages and finally did today. Got there as it was opening on a rainy Monday and there was already a queue. Went for the lamb wrap which was great. Plenty of meat that was tender and full of flavor. Outstanding!

Been meaning to try this place for ages but every time I'm in Glasgow it's in the opposite direction of where I'm going. Today I decided to walk there anyway to try it and I'm so glad I did. The bread is what makes this wrap spectacular, it's so much better than any other kebab place. The salad balances perfectly with the meat too for an all around brilliant kebab. Now I've been I don't think it'll take me so long to be back!

Place was great for me chicken bland lamb fatty and bread too thick salad was nice.

You can order and then wait with a slip for your number being called. The food was good but we thought it lacked a bit of sauce.

Although they unfortunately run of the Kebabs towards the end of the day, their delicious shawarma makes up for it. A bit cheaper than the Kebab as well

Waited 30 mins for a mixed shawarma. All staff, no organization. Still a tasty bite. Yeah got worse.

Food is great! But waiting 40 min for a wrap is just insane! This place is a fast food, so i expect a fast service , take it and go! If you know it takes 40 min tell me before i pay!

This is my first time visiting this restaurant. When I ordered a few shawarmas, they told me that they will provide the order in 10-15 minutes.16 minutes had passed.still nothing.They eventually gave it to me after 45 minutes..Although this is the best shawarma in Scotland according to Just eat,Do come if you can wait.

Falafel wrap. £4.50, so not exactly breaking the bank. But, it was actually disgusting. No flavour, soggy, stale wrap, bland salad. Really poor. I can't get my head around all the 4 and 5 star reviews, unless you don't have taste buds or a functioning frontal lobe. I think this place keeps it's clout by having flashy social media videos. The food isn't that great.

Big lineup, extremely slow service, no efficiency what so ever. Was really hoping for something delicious but the mixed shawarma was dry, lacked flavour & not enough sauce. Very disappointed. In Canada, Shawarma is fast, flavourful delicious & this one did not hit any of those marks.

Number 59 Today I bought 2 large chicken shawarma the chicken is completely off out of date very bad smiley chicken. They Shouldn't sele it to the customers. I trying to phone them no one can answer the phone

Had a large lamb shawarma wrap. Waited for 40 mins, will not say it's a must eat but still worth a try if you have time. Super generous portions. Great flavor of the marinade. Love the wrap bread as well, fluffy and soft and crispy on the outside. Disappointed by the temperature of the wrap tho. Ate immediately when I got it straight from the shop. but just by touching it, I know it's not up to my standard. It's just warm, not hot enough. Could be better if they can put more pickles in. Love the fact that they put a lot of meat but this kinda destroys the balance.

Had high hopes for this place but the shawarma wrap was unfortunately pretty dry and tasteless which is a shame, certainly wasn’t worth the journey.

Waited quite a while but worth it

Very nice kebab. I still rate Shawarma grill a touch above but this is close. NB, be prepared for a queue. They get through the queues very fast but it is continually busy.

It was really ashamed that sold each bread for £1! While it should be included in the portion meal! Its not a warp and not with rice, so it should have free bread on it! As it's the same in other takeaways. You can't eat it just with chips. Also i don't know why using that much spice even on the chicken. They should know how to cook it to taste well, not just with the force of spices! My son couldn't eat even a bit so we had to buy another thing from other restaurant! Just because the shop is small, people have to wait outside, so it's another way of marketing which shows there always busy!

Sunday late evening kebab disappointment. Waiting time not so bad - 20 min! Kebab cold, meat cold. Bread wasn’t fresh for sure mould on it.

Lots of hype, Food was really bad mixed wrap, wouldn’t give it to my dog, extremely chewy not cooked meat. Then the amount of food colouring used on the salad was soaking through the wrap and destroying, looked like it had spores and mushrooms ready to pop out of it. Do Not Eat Here. Wouldn’t refund my order without a fight, only once they agreed I wouldn’t leave a bad review they paid me my money so I wouldn’t write this. Apparently used to be good and very different, looks like it changed hands/Owners. DO NOT EAT HERE

Tasty food and fresh. Shawarma King is the bomb! Their shawarma is seriously good, super fresh and packed with flavor. Freshly baked bread is a game changer. Menu is banging, so there is so much choice. Definitely check it out!

Long wait between ordering and getting the food but we didn't mind once we'd tasted the mixed shawarma. The quality of the meat was amazing, full of flavour, and a bargain price. The other do er can often be a picky eater but we both decided to get them as they came with garlic and chilli sauce in them along with the salad and it was really tasty. Would order the same again. Just be prepare for a wait, but it'll be worth it.

When I asked if the falafel wrap was egg and dairy free they told me yes, it’s vegan. But when they called my number and gave me mine it was full of meat and mayo… NOT VEGAN 😫 made me very uncomfortable to try eating the falafel one knowing I’d just been told the previous one was. So I opened up the second wrap and it was an okay falafel wrap with cabbage, but managed to be both dry and greasy. No toilets or inside seating.

Asked for vegan falafel and was given meat. Staff didn't apologise unfortunately, very poor mistake to make and is unacceptable much like serving pork to a Muslim.

I tried shawarma mix wrap and was really good. Definitely not heavy in grease or salty like in some places.

This is what kebabs are actually supposed to taste like. Real seasoned grilled meat. Freshly made bread and sauces and salad. Eat it sober for lunch not knuckled at 3am because you couldn't finger any birds or fight any lads. A real treat. Made with passion and provenance. Value for money. Try the sides too because some of that is epic. Hummus or Baba Ganoush are both excellent. When you travel most of Europe this is what is considered proper BBQ grill kebab food. Not the Elephant Trunk of greying "Donner". Once you've eaten this you won't go back to the old stuff again!

2nd time I've tried and been disappointed. The meat was dry and chewy, clearly old meat. Plus stomach didn't feel great the next day. Tried much better shwarmas in Glasgow. They give a large portion but prefer quality over quantity.

The taste of the shawarma is unique.

the lamb schawarma was decent but the wait time was 45 minutes in the cold which is just ridiculous. Hajar’s schawarma is just around the corner and customer service was much better with little wait time.

I agree with one of the other reviewers that Phil must have been really hungry when he visited Shwarma King. On a 3-day visit to Glasgow, this was our first stop.  It was about 3 pm, and about a dozen people were waiting outside in the cold, blocking the entrance. At first, we thought it was the line to order until we asked one of the folks, and the answer was no, they were waiting for their order. Made our way inside and ordered a chicken wrap, a lamb wrap, french fries, a can of coke, and a yogurt drink costing about 20 pounds, which was very reasonable. The place is literally under the railroad bridge, and there is no seating inside and only 2 tables outside, which were occupied. Even if there was a table, we would not have sat there to eat as the atmosphere and surroundings are somewhat seedy and not pleasant. As for the food, the chicken wrap was good. However, the lamb was gristly, chunky, and tough and was not true shaving as it should be.  It was okay for one time but would not go back.

Under an abandoned train bridge in a desolate neighborhood with nowhere to sit, and theres still a line at an off hour...usually means its amazing... Unfortunately really not worth it. Annoyed and rude cashier told us it would take 15 minutes and it took at least 45. Was nice chatting with everyone in line and empathizing if they'd simply forgotten everyone's order. Can get a conceptually identical Döner anywhere is Germany for half the price in about 1/50th the time.
