Adam was very accommodating and knowledgeable...great cocktail recommendations and very good foam skills. He has the patience of a saint to allow such a stunning group of women into his bar area. In all seriousness, what a place, it was amazing and we would recommend it to anyone. Adam you are an absolute gem and a legend. You should be on a world stage making these incredible drinks....give the man a huge pay rise!!! We will warn you before our next visit. Lots of love the four crazy girls!

This was the best food my friend and I have had during our vacation, thus far. I had the ribeye and she had the risotto. For the first time, I tried the mushroom cream sauce with my steak and loved it! Our server was attentive and helpful. There’s a lot of outside noise from obnoxious young people, but we won’t hold it against the restaurant.

Lovely location and pleasant helpful staff front of house. Sadly I had a very disappointing Seafood chowder that was missing sweetcorn and bacon and so tasted bland. 😕

I went to the restaurant with some friends while we were traveling and passing through. Since we didn't have a reservation, they asked us to wait. We waited for over 20 minutes for a table. They eventually seated us on the upper floor, where there were three available tables the entire time we were there (so why the wait?). The staff treated us well, the food was good, but my friend found a hair in her dish, which she disposed of before I could inform the staff (she doesn't speak English). Additionally, the dish took a long time to arrive.

Without a doubt, one of the best locations for eating up the north coast. On a good day, the proximity to the sea makes it a stunning place to enjoy the beautiful vistas. As for the food, mostly good. The fry was better than average and the crispy kale a nice touch. The white and black pudding were a bit over-cooked, making them brittle and hard, if still edible. The cinnamon bread with berries was superb though and can be heartily recommended! Also, the staff were both friendly and helpful, which made for a very good overall experience. As for the price, some may consider it expensive but given the great location, the food and service we received made it worth the money. Update April 2024. Visited again for an evening meal this time. Superb in every respect - excellent chateaubriand after great starters. Service was excellent too - very friendly and made the evening. Highly recommended.

Bit disappointed that the menu was completely different from the online one as I was looking forward to the lobster! They need to make sure the online menu is current. That aside, the shared cheese starter was excellent as were the main courses. The dessert menu was somewhat restricted - only three items and one of those wasn’t available. Drinks menu was excellent and I really enjoyed sampling the cocktails! Staff were attentive and helpful and, of course, the restaurant is situated in a beautiful location. Will definitely make a return visit.

Nice enough food, but slow service.

It was my first visit here after hearing so many good reports of it. I went in for coffee and tray bakes, first impressions were the place looked lovely, I was greeted by a pleasant member of staff and as soon as it was discovered I was in for coffee, I was immediately told "oh sorry you can't take this inside, we can offer you the table and chairs outside" but it was raining heavily and had no option but to take this back to my car. Inside the venue wasn't even busy, would I be back, I have to say no, i would definitely choose another coffee shop who would appreciate my custom regardless of what i am purchasing.

The Shanty had the best food that we ate in our entire Ireland trip. If you are anywhere close by please visit this restaurant!

First meal at Shanty did not disappoint. The Feather Blade of beef tasted amazing. My partner's scampi tasted so fresh even though the batter was a little greasy. We asked to swap out the chips for garlic and herb potatoes and they happily obliged. Beautiful setting. My only observation is that the place would benefit from some pictures/paintings or other objects to enhance the feel and ambiance. Will definitely be back as it is a gem of a place.

We were so grateful to get a table at Shanty when we made a spontaneous decision to stop in for dinner. It was the perfect spot to dine in on a cold winter’s night. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The menu had something for everyone with great flavours and presentation. We could imagine how lovely it would be in the summer as well, with its seaside location. Can highly recommend Shanty’s.

2nd time we called for coffee and food at lunch time and 2nd we have been refused due to They wanted to keep tables for dinners. Won't be trying a 3rd time. Horrible.

First time in Shanty last night and we were blown away!! Full marks for the service, the food and atmosphere. We had the starters as a tapas and it did not disappoint. Throughly recommend Shanty to anyone, on a personal note we can't wait to come back. We'll done everyone and keep up the good work!

My wife and yours truly enjoyed our first meal tonight in Shanty.We both had the special ,two steak meals both 9oz ribeye steaks with sides and sauces included also roast veg.The steaks were delicious cooked as ordered everything on the plates was delicious.Dervice was first class and atmosphere spot on not too busy just a nice of people in the restaurant.The meals were very reasonably priced at £40 for both .This special is available Monday to Wednesday only.Cheap as chips as they say.

Good food and a fantastic location. Right on the sea shore where you can watch the waves lash the rocks. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

Very dear had no buns or cake 1 cup tea 1 cup coffee about £ 5.00 to take out had to go over to van out side and get donut.

We are 6 friends who are all recently turned pensioners and more importantly enjoy eating out. We visited Shanty last night and had fab food great service and gained somme local knowledge. Let's begin with the welcome, first class the staff were really good and ensured that we were all comfortable and made to feel welcome. The menu was smaller than we have experienced in other restaurants, but we all got something different and to our personal taste. All the food was great, and for me the roast cod was cooked perfect and not over or under cooked. I did indulge in a "old fashion" cocktail that was bang on the money. Highly recommend, we spent approx. £50 a head after tipping, but we did have 3 bottles of wine and 2 starters, 6 mains and 4 desserts and coffees. Really worth a visit. We'll be back again.

We had a brilliant dinner. The fillet steaks where excellent, as was the butter greens and garlic & hot honey skins. Sweet was great too and a brilliant coffee to finish. We can't wait to come back. Best food in Portrush!

The atmosphere, cocktails and wine, food and service are top notch! Wandered into PortRush searching for a late dinner after a long day of driving the coast. The restaurant facade was deceiving but the location was intriguing and parking was easy so we decided to stop. So glad we did!

Outstanding experience from the moment we walked through the door until we left again. I had fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce. .Mrs W had the Cod. We shared the cheesboard afterwards which we both agreed was the best cheeseboard we ever had and the red wine was superb from Puglia. This is a secret we just can't keep about Portrush. Please go and experience this spot. The staff, the service and the food are collectively outstanding. Get there!!!

In a town awash with pub grub, Shanty was a pleasant departure. The former lifeboat station has been classed up inside while still retaining its historical feel. The views are magnificent, the service comfortable and knowledgeable and the food refreshingly creative.

Really great atmosphere in this lively building. The food was to die for and very reasonably priced. Delightful scallops for starters and the main of tender meat on the bone was mouth watering. Fantastic delightful staff. Will be back.

Waiteress fotrgot to put our order in waited 50 min for a fish supper and a salad. Food was average . Location is nice though.

We only stopped of for a drink but it looked lovely and staff were great 👍. Will definitely try on our next trip

Service was very good, friendly and attentive. Good atmosphere and quite busy. I had a steak which was cooked to perfection and the vegetarian meals went down well. Unfortunately our fourth group member was very disappointed with the fish and chips.The fish was tasteless and the chips were just not up to scratch for a quayside restaurant. One under par meal spoilt the evening for us .

Booked a table for 6pm, turned up to find the restaurant closed! Phoned them, no answer. Emailed and haven't received any response or acknowledgement a week later. Very disappointed and won't be recommending them to anyone.

The smash burger I ordered was one of the best meals I have ever had. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was amazing, with one of the best views.

This is an old life boat station, so you're right on the waters edge. While we were eating our food a pod of dolphins were swimming around the bay.x

I recently had the pleasure of visiting "The Shanty" restaurant with my girlfriend, and I must say, it was an absolute delight from start to finish! Located in a repurposed lifeboat house, this place exudes charm and character that is hard to find elsewhere. To begin our evening, we decided to explore the intriguing cocktail menu. I ordered the "Violet Fizz," a delightful concoction featuring Copeland Navy Strength gin, violet, Italicus, lemon, and whites. The flavors harmonized perfectly, resulting in a refreshing and sophisticated drink. My girlfriend chose the "Serenity," a blend of Copeland Smugglers Rum, cacao, Campari, strawberry, vanilla, and lime. She couldn't stop raving about its unique combination of flavors that created a tropical paradise in a glass. For our appetizers, we opted for the baked Camembert and Padron peppers to share. The Camembert was wonderfully creamy, accompanied by a delightful selection of bread and accompaniments. The Padron peppers were perfectly charred and provided a tantalizing burst of flavor with every bite. Moving on to the main course, I ordered the ribeye steak, and my girlfriend chose the monkfish on lobster rice. The ribeye was cooked to perfection, tender and succulent, with a mouthwatering sear. The monkfish, nestled atop the flavorful lobster rice, was a true culinary masterpiece. Both dishes showcased the chef's skill and dedication to quality ingredients. Established in 2021, Shanty Bites and Brews situated in the old lifeboat shelter in Portrush is an absolute must for any visitors to the North Coast looking for a brilliant foodie experience in stunning surroundings with gorgeous sea views. We started with some delicious sharing plates; a Bread Selection with herb oil, romesco, Chimichurri, & fig confit, a wonderful platter of fresh Fritto Misto, and some smoky, charred Padron Peppers. Our mains included a Kilkeel Coley with patatas bravas, Lemon and Coriander Marinated Monkfish with lobster rice, Chimichurri Chicken, an enormous, golden Fish & Chips, and a delicately marbled Ribeye Steak with peppered sauce. Accompanied by delightful tunes courtesy of the talented Oonagh Clark, and with a spectacular sunset behind her, what an idyllic way to spend a summer’s evening enjoying fine food and wine.

At first glance seems like a nice place to dine or enjoy a coffee. Have to say after looking at the menu for food and drink very very over priced sorry shanty good old fish and chips from Tracy’s chip van across the road a big winner.

Best restaurant on the North Coast by far. Staff are amazing, food and wine is amazing and a great relaxed atmosphere. Highly reccomend.

Shanty’s great location, right on the seashore, spectacular views and historic design give it an edge over most restaurants in the area. The food is especially delicious, well presented and value for money. We arrived around lunch time on a Wednesday. We only wanted coffees - they weren’t able to sit us inside/on the terrace as they were fully booked. We were able to order takeaway coffees and buns and sit on benches out the front.

I had the rib eye steak, which was excellent, but on seeing and tasting my grandson's short ribs, I know what I'm going for the next time we visit. 😆 Excellent food, staff, and atmosphere, we will be back.

We visited the Shanty after a long day of adventuring. The drinks, apps, and food were all fantastic. They have a great selection of mixed drink options and lots of great menu options. Staff was very friendly and the service was great. Little bit pricey but has a great view of the waterfront and has a dog friendly outdoor seating area.

Our best meal in Ireland. Location is excellent right on the water. The menu was diverse and had items that were new to me. Staff was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The filet with pepper sauce was cooked perfectly and tasted excellent. Pricing was fair. Highly recommend.

Had a lovely dinner tonight with my family, my steak a little under cooked for my liking and it was no problem at all for the chef to flash it for me. I certainly did not expect a total replacement. So what can I say? 5 stars does not express what this restaurant deserves xx

Fabulous food and atmosphere. The Chicken supreme was not like a regular one which was lovely. Seasonal veg was beautifully cooked. Service was good and staff friendly especially James. I'll definitely be back.

Wonderful service, atmosphere and view! Had fish and chips - fish was cooked really well and melted in the mouth. Accompaniments were tasty and could've eaten more of the peas and tartare sauce despite seeing others not finishing them! Chips could've been a bit more cooked. Decaf oat flat white was well made but tangy so the coffee didn't go with the milk.

This is a magnificent location with stunning views changing light and Shadows on the fine landscape. The staff were lovely fairly attentive and were trying hard my Cousin ordered chicken wings starter with fish and chips as a main. Sadley I ordered Mussel and a steak with roast vegetables as a main.The mussles arrived with a large slice of lemon on top covering the smallest mussel shells we have ever seen having removed 3 smashed small potatoes and thick slices of under cooked bacon l began with trepidation to " eat the Mussles" that is if I could find any which looked safe or worth eating the liquor that this dish was presented in was not much better than, sorry was no better than Dish water. My concernes were expressed to the server who was most pleasent and apologetic. l was then abruptly accosted by the manager on our departure this lady insisted that muscles were OK. Obviously she is not capable of understanding how they should be served, these mussles were not fresh the fleshy body should be plump and well filled with a orange colour on the sack and some elastic membranes holding it to the shell this was far from the dish I was presented with. There were also Mushrooms served with my steak which were un eatable and un cuttable even with a steak knife. Its all very sad as I said the location and the serving staff were great and well tipped by me. The kitchen and management Need to follow there staff's lead to live up to this great location.

Stopped here for an adhoc lunch. The service and food was amazing. Just visiting, but if back in the area will definitely be back.

Only popped in for a tea/ coffee but we ended up having soup of day and seafood chowder. Excellent albeit some would say bowls were small for price but outstanding quality and more than happy to say I will be back for something more substantial.

Didn't know this place existed only noticed it on passing so tried it out and all was good .I had fish and chips with a glass of wine tasted great and the atmosphere was good with friendly staff would go back also parking was easy
