Have been coming here as far back as I can remember, staff are lovely and very friendly, best Chinese chippy on Chorley old Rd.

Very tasty food, the service is on a next customer order service with the food preparation and cooking in view at the back. Always taking phone orders or from shop ordering and pick up.

I've tried 1 meal from this place, special fried rice (large) with a curry sauce. I bought two of them.. Cost £20.80 and its really not worth it, hardly any meat at all, a bowl of rice and curry sauce for £10.40 per portion. A1 further up the road is a much better deal

Tried for the first time last night....this was possibly one of the best Chinese takeaways I've been to .......rang up to order and collected within half an hour, chicken in ok sauce and lots of sides was hot and really nice.....Will be back.....

Friday night is Chinese takeaway night from Shang Hai. Haven't had a bad dish yet. Staff are pleasant and quick.

Fabulous hot fresh food and service with a smile both the English and the Chinese food. Best to phone your order in before you go, as they get really busy. Our new favourite takeaway.

Hygiene rating 4 out of 5, staff immaculate and efficient and it's impressive to watch the chefs create our dishes in their open kitchen. I stick to prawn or chicken dishes as I find their beef too chewy and have experienced "funny bits" in the pork - but otherwise everything is delicious and the best in the area 🤩

The best Chinese in Bolton!! I like to try different meals each time i go and have never had a poor meal yet...in 20 years. Good quality food and very satisfying. Staff very friendly and polite. I believe that this has been a family business for a number of years and the quality hasnt changed. Just a shame they dont deliver...but then again if they did i would probably be ordering every night!!!

It's nice just gave me the wrong order

Amazing food as always. They are only allowed 2 customers in at one time, so ask for you to ring your order through and they give you a number. At the front door they have posted the full menu and phone number so you don't have to go in to place your order. A brilliant idea I think.

Gone massively downhill lately. Orders are wrong, portions are tiny, scrappy chips, bare minimum amount of sauce/gravy, undercooked and greasy food....this used to be my favourite takeaway- not any more.

As good as Happy House for Chinese food with the added bonus of good english chippy menu too. Highly recommended.

Worst Chinese I have ever been too. Egg fried rice is like boiled rice. Beef chowmein is like noodle soup with a fishy taste. I would not recommend this to a dog never mind a human. And was very rude on the phone.

Tres de nosotros visitamos el Shanghai anoche, y disfrutamos mucho de nuestra noche.

La pizzería entregado varias veces y es la mejor de la zona. Los hors d'oeuvres mixtas es excelente, el mejor gamba nórdica tostadas que he tenido, y novia del acuerdo. Sólo tenía el pato y plum salsa era para morirse. Chucking lejos todos los otros menús chinos tenemos.

Mi novia y yo fui con dos amigas el sábado por la noche. Tengo que decir que me quedé un poco indecisos o no ir como las críticas recientes no han sido estupendas. Llegamos y todos tenían el 15 libras (por eso) todo lo que pueda comer menú. Tuvimos una gran variedad de entrantes incluye galletas saladas de gambas, algas, costillas, pollo y pato satay tortitas. Para mi sorpresa (y la vergüenza) gambas tostadas no está incluido en el todo lo que pueda comer así que asegúrate de que te das cuenta de que! La comida era de primera categoría, muy bien preparados, caliente y lo suficiente para lavabo un acorazado.

Fuimos aquí el sábado por la noche para una comida familiar. Había 22 adultos y 4 niños. Parecía que había sólo 2 personal trabajando al frente de la casa, que incluye las órdenes, que sirve comida, que sirve detrás de la barra, contesta el teléfono, tomar los pagos, etc. Me resulta difícil de entender el sábado por la noche, cuando el lugar era claramente completamente lleno.

El novio y me decidí por la noche y decidimos pedir y han entregado un chino para llevar de este establecimiento. Pedimos alitas de pollo y costillas para empezar ambos eran grandes porciones y muy delicioso. Para los platos principales BF tenía un plato de pollo mientras que elegí la carne en salsa de pimienta negra, ambas con arroz y algunas gambas galletas, para compartir. Nos habían dicho que la entrega sería un poco más de una hora sin embargo la entrega llegó en 30 minutos, caliente y fácilmente uno de los mejores sitios chinos que he tenido. He leído las críticas y ahora ver que este establecimiento no es sólo un restaurante sino también para llevar, estoy deseando visitar.

No me he encargado una comida para llevar estas promesas por un par de años, sin embargo, me apetecía para llevar chino para Fin de Año con mi pareja y yo hemos disfrutado anteriormente comidas desde aquí en el pasado. Me hizo que el teléfono y me dijeron que la entrega sería más de una hora, lo que me esperaba ya que yo había pedido durante la temporada alta en el último minuto. Fue una agradable sorpresa que la comida llegamos en menos de 40 minutos. Me reconocieron el conductor de entrega de anteriores ocasiones y uno nuevo fue recibida con una sonrisa amistosa y gestionada.

Me llama con anticipación para reservar una mesa de cinco de nosotros, y cuando llegamos allí nos dimos cuenta de que el restaurante estaba vacío. El personal fue muy amable y nos recibió en la puerta.

I have eaten here several times, both in the restaurant and had several takeaways. Sadly the food is not as good as in the past. Nothing good to say about it.

Disgusting food, the place itself was dirty, asked for a glass of coke and got warm flat out of the bottle cheap coke, the staff was rude, me and the mrs wasted £30, no atmosphere at all in their, stay away!!

All you can eat buffet for under £15 but with a twist all the food is cooked to order!!!! To start the salt and pepper popcorn chicken, chicken satay, salt and pepper ribs , bbq ribs crispy seaweed and prawn crackers, little rest, half a crispy duck, more rest , main king prawn rice , king prawn thai red curry, singapore noodles , sweet and sour chicken , hot , tasty, FANTASTIC

Great food, freshly cooked, value for money, if you like Chinese food, look no further, only problem could be with parking.

I have enjoyed Chinese cuisine in many places around the world including the Chinatowns in New York and San Francisco, and this is easily, hands-down, the best Chinese I have ever tasted. The variety of the menu is excellent including as it does Thai and Malaysian food in addition to Chinese. Excellent service and superb value for money. I can't recommend the Shanghai highly enough.

Food was tasteless or too salty! Staff were extremely rude we asked to sit away from the door as it was freezing and stunk of smokers from outside they said they were fully booked even tho there was clearly 10 spare tables the whole time we were there. Plates were dirty, and food had a hair in. We use to be regular customers but never again. Not to mention 3 cokes were £10!! That are poured from a litre bottle and flat.

3 of us came to Shanghai on Saturday as a start to a girls evening. I have not been before but my friend had and recommended it highly. For just under £15 each its eat all you like off the normal menu (not buffet style). We chose to keep ordering from the starter menu and the table filled up with delicious hot Chinese starter treats. It felt like tapas.All the food ordered came promptly, service was good and most of all the food was mouth wateringly delicious and tasted fresh.We ended up ordering one mail meal between us as we were so full of all the starters we'd kept ordering.I would recommend to anyone and will definitely be returning.

Having been to this restaurant a number of times in the past, we booked again for a table of four. As always delicious food, plenty of choice and at under £15pp for as much as you can eat you can't go wrong. The staff were attentive, took our orders promptly and food arrived in good time. The only criticism I would have is to say that it would be lovely if warmimg plates were used on the table. We choose a couple of menu items each and share between ourselves. Will once again be returning.

I must admit I've been surprised and disappointed by the recent reviews of the Shanghai as we've always enjoyed going here for meals on birthdays etc. So, it was with more than a touch of trepidation I booked for a family meal the other night. I shouldn't have worried. The food was excellent as usual, delivered quickly and with service that is always attentive and smiling. I think the supplier for the spare ribs has changed - they weren't as good as usual - but that's the only criticism I could make. The restaurant was still quiet (we booked for 6pm) so service may slow a bit later on in the evening but, in my opinion, the Shanghai is still a great place to eat and the all you can eat banquet is fantastic value!

After only discovering Shanghai a few weeks ago, and having had two amazing meals there already, we thought we'd found an absolute gem - until this evening. After being seated we immediately caught on to other tables complaining about 1-2 hour wait for their main course, plus over 20 minute waits for drinks. Over the course of the evening, most of the covers refused to pay full price (if at all) and walked out. We persevered for two hours and had not even ordered our mains, so we decided to leave. We begrudgingly paid full price in sympathy for the obviously understaffed table service, only to be suspected of not paying on leaving - quite the cheek after some people rightly refused to pay at all! Extremely disappointed :(

Found this place on Justeat and though we would order some food to get delivered, after an hour and a half of no food I decided to give them a call to see where our food was. After 12 failed attempts to get through I decided to go and get the food myself. When I arrived I quickly found they had not even started cooking the food after having our order for an hour and a half! So they sat me down and gave me some complementary prawn crackers, as I sat and ate these crackers the phone was going non stop and rarely answered. When it was answered I heard nothing but complaints about peoples deliveries taking far too long. So time for the best part, once the food finally came I brought up to the waitress how poor the service was and to make up for this poor service was they gave me a bottle of diet coke. So I left somewhat gutted about the bad experience only to find at home they had given me an opened bottle of diet coke with some missing. To their credit the food was fantastic but I would never visit there again.

I went on the 22nd of March for my birthday meal. There was only 4 people so it shouldn't have been an issue. We were sat down for 6.00 and ordered by 6.10 which was fine and received it by 6.25. We didn't receive everything we ordered but made do. We never got plates removed until 7.25 and that's when I asked them we need to order as I was djing at 7.45. They came after I asked them for a second time and eventually ordered. I use to go there with my ex girlfriend and never had a problem before but they had 3 staff one to make drinks one to serve and one to bring plates out. The place was full and they seriously need more staff. We never got all what we asked for and a friend got rice and no curry for 5 minutes. We did get 4 bottles of beer as apologies but I don't know if I'd return. Shame really because the food is good. I'd recommend going through the week and not on a Saturday. I wish them well in there future :-)

This place came highly recommended, and having seen the previous reviews on here we were looking forward to a nice meal, but how disappointed were we?Table for 2 booked for 8pm, we were only acknowledged after 10mins. Whilst we were waiting we observed that there were only a couple of waitresses, and they were running around in a chaotic manner, trying to take orders for drinks, serve drinks, take food orders and also bring food out. We were shown to our table, once the previous diners rubbish had been cleared. It then took 20 mins to get a drink, no one seemed to know who was serving which table as we tried to catch the eyes of someone as we were more than ready to order. When drinks eventually arrived we ordered our starters. In the mist of all this there were constant complaints from diners at other tables about food taking a long time. So it didn't look good. A large party had ordered their starters when we arrived, but still hadn't received them. The empty table next to ours was full of dirty pots for the duration of the time we were in there and reminded me of what you see in a motorway service station. It wasn't pleasant. After over half an hour of ordering our starters, nothing had been received. At this rate we wouldn't be getting starters until after 9pm and goodness knows about the main courses. So although this place was rated highly, we didn't actually get to taste the food as we left. In summary, chaotic, under staffed, very poor service, dirty, very disappointing :-(

Being short of time I ordered up a quick take away via Just Eat. I was called back in 5mins to confirm the order and it was ready right on time. The food was really excellent (we had Hong Kong chow mein, sweet & sour chicken - huge balls! special fried rice and salt & chilli chips) and it fed 4 of us. So impressed with the quality of the food, we are booking a table for the buffet next week.

We regularly get a takeaway from this restaurant but went to sit in last night and it was fantastic. The menu is brilliant for the set price of £15. We had quite a lot and enjoyed every meal. Crispy lamb with pancakes is delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant but never seems to get the custom it deserves.
