Really pleased with my evening here, first up and most importantly the food was all top quality so no complaints, the smoked chicken was one of the best I've ever had! Restaurant itself was clean and well presented, staff friendly and welcoming. We spent £25 per head which included drinks so a great price too. Would go again and would recommend, thank you guys!

Nice and quiet but freezing cold, service lovely, very nice people.. food, not so lovely, the crispy chilli beef is limp wristed, it tastes like tomato sauce and I struggled to find any chilli, even though I'd asked for extra. The smoked chicken and ribs were perfect and the chowmein was also ok, parking was a nightmare so would suggest a taxi if your local. Would we eat here again? .. I'm not sure.

Hi have been customer very numbers of years all ways been 100 per cent but to night ❓meat in special curry is so dry and the big chucks of onion and mushrooms are stale

Very bad food, fried rice comes mixed with normal cooked rice probably not mixed properly. Zero sessoning, mushrooms have terrible burnt after taste. Very little meat and prawns expensive portions and bad quality ingredients. Zero taste expect burnt cheap oil

Had a family chinese last night and ordered the food just after 6pm. It took 2 hours and 20 mins to arrive, which was 1 hour over the predicted delivery time. There were 2 dishes missing from the order. Not very impressed.

Arrived and seated. No problem. Starters, duck eaten and on to the mains. While eating these, a group of four came in and there had been a mix up with their booking. The waitress told them in front of us that they could have our table when we had finished. They were then sat at a different table to have drinks waiting for us to finish. They kept staring at us which was intimidating. We hadn’t finished our mains, still had dessert and coffees to go. Who’s to say we weren’t going to be another hour or so. On telling the waitress we found it really rude and made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable we paid and left. Ruined our evening celebrating a wedding anniversary. Will not go again

I'm gonna keep this simple, food absolutely top quality, plenty of it and at a very good price. I absolutely cannot fault the meal. The restaurant is spotless, the staff are lovely and attentive. We were so impressed that we booked to return in December. Parking is an issue, it's Lincoln Rd, parking is always an issue! Consider either taking a taxi or drive round a few times (like me) until a spot opens up.

A set price menu and very generous helpings. The food was piping hot and delicious. It's a small restaurant but was packed out (on a Wednesday evening), so the noise level was very high. Service was speedy in spite of the amount of people, a really great place to eat!

Place an order on Just Eat for happy Valley. Shanghai Gardens called me and told me they were closed just eat, still took my order had go to Shanghai Gardens to pick up my order . When I ask you shouldn’t be taking orders on somewhere that’s she just said they Was closed she wasn’t interested. Very rude to Staff. may be TSANG can respond

The best Chinese I have ever had. We didn't leave a crumb behind. For a couple you get to choose up to 6 different things for starters, a main and then up to 6 other main dishes. Highly recommend to try it out. 👌And the prices are reasonably low in my opinion.

Haven't been to this restaurant for a while, but it didn't dissappoint. Food and service both amazing. Had the buffet for two, so much food enough for three people. Highly recommend.

Food was delicious! Small little restaurant that delivers amazing food to your table. Meals are done family style. You won't leave hungry. Staff is incredibly friendly and fantastic at making sure you are taken care of. 😊

By far the best Chinese anywhere. All you can eat course by course, freshly cooked and served by friendly staff. You can also choose from the standard menu, but the all-you-can-eat is far better value. For 2 of us, 3 courses with 2 pints of Pepsi each come to £49 on a weekend. (Slightly cheaper on week days) also you can have 2 courses which is cheaper. 2 of you can choose 6 starters, 6 mains 4 of you can choose 8 starters, 8 mains & so on Definitely worth visiting if you enjoy fresh, tasty asian food. Best to book a table to ensure you aren't turned away as it can get quite busy (being the best Chinese restaurant in the UK - no exaggeration) You have to try the King ribs! Boneless deliciousness Street parking available but don't park in a restricted residential space down St Paul's Road, try and park on Lincoln Road

What a nightmare it was my daughter’s birthday we waited an hour and half then when we asked for the manager she tried to charge us over £100 for our first course and five drinks she was awful will never ever go in there again.

Order the food at 19:30 and only arrived at 21:30, called to cancel my order a couple of minutes before arriving and ended up on the phone with the most rude and clueless man,worst costumer service ever!!! He spent 18 min arguing with me when he could just apologise for the huge delay. Never ordering again from this place!!! Plus I agree with some reviews that food is not tasting like used to. Big disappointment.

Each time I order from them the food arrives worse and worse, to the point when I got chewy and dry fries with no seasoning. From waiting not too long for order now I have to wait around an hour for my food to arrive. This place just went suddenly downhill, from a good place to something that I would rather not to order from.

Daughters 21st birthday. Although our party of 10 were the only ones dining, it was still a great night. Excellent quality of food & very attentive service.

Ordered a delivery at 6:20pm, told it would be delivered by 7:30pm. Two more phone calls later, my food turned up at 8:15pm. Food was lukewarm. Not impressed as it shouldn't take that long and all I got was 'sorry'. No offer of a refund. Driver didn't even apologise! I won't be ordering from here again!

They just lie. Nearly 2 hours to get a delivery and apparently the driver is ‘stuck in traffic’. We are two minutes drive from them.

Ordered on ubereats at 4pm for a 6pm delivery. Food finally arrived 8pm. I called at 7pm to be told orders take 90 minutes usually (even though I ordered at 4pm) and they would get it cooked for 7.30pm. Called again at 7.30pm and told driver was on his way (takes 10 mins). 8pm called again and driver finally arrived. Food luke warm and did not taste nice at all. Very disappointing service and food. AVOID!!

Unacceptable, food took has taken over 2hours to be delivered. We are still waiting for the delivery as I write. They shouldn't take orders knowing they do not have the capacity to deliver. I hope when the food gets here it would very worth the wait. Extremely disappointing for our first purchase here.

Food tastes good, but i have a serious concern about the 'beef' in their chow mein noodles. Extremely soft and doesn't taste like beef at all. I have a weird feeling it's a different animal and plan to investigate. Updated 19/9/22 The customer service here is terrible. The lady who I think is the manager or supervisor is too rude. Needed her attention and she shouted across at me. Clearly too arrogant to come to our table. Cleared our table for the second course, very carelessly, and when I politely asked if she could remove the bone/rib and food pieces that were left on the table, she got clearly upset, felt it was above her and didn't want to. She made out that we had to use the same fork for our second course, even though my daughter clearly didn't want to. I've told my family that we will not be going back there. Terrible service for the second time in a row.

Awful customer service! Placed my order but when it arrived ( Luke warm) the sauce was missing. Telephoned and they said I was too far away to send more out!! They attempted to ring the delivery driver but rang me back 5mins later to say he’s not answering so nothing they can do. I explained it ruined the dish with no sauce and all they could offer at first was a credit on my next order. Eventually I just got a £2.00 refund- despite the £6.00 dish not eatable!!! When I tried to speak further the woman just said goodbye and put the phone down on me!! Rude and do not deserve to be in business!!

This Resturant is poor food. Most of our dish’s were made from a very sweet almost melted jam like sauce. The same base sauce in most dish’s. Aweful cheap way of making this food. Not eat as much as u can u limited to what u eat and portions so small. Way better for less in Coventry China red awesome try it sometime

I too visited here on my business trip to Peterborough. The Singapore noodles were great as too were the ribs and the Yung Chow Fried Rice. I would definitely return here the next time I’m in Peterborough.

Spoke to them 55mins after I ordered and was told driver on there way.. they closed 20 mins later.. the time is now nearly 11pm and my food never turned up and nobody to call and speak to.. really disappointed as always had good experience before

We have just been at Shanghai Garden, absolutely the best Chinese food we have ever had, so fresh and tasty. The waitresses were lovely too. This restaurant is ALWAYS fully booked on weekends, so we recommend going on week days. We have been on a Thursday and we have received a great service. Truly recommend it.

Frequent customers, food quality is always on point, time keeping isn’t. I’ve never had a delivery arrive on the time their app/site has given (which is usually 90m). Yesterday was a new low, in total from order to delivery was 3hrs! Placed at 18:39, delivered at 21:35. I called up at the 2hr mark and they said “it was finishing up cooking and leaving in 5m”. Called up at the 2.5hr mark and they’d lost my ticket, then said it was on it way then after an apology free bottle of Coca Cola being offered they said “the food was being finished as we speak”… so how was it on its way? One dish was wrong, couldn’t be bothered with the hassle of contacting them again, yesterday was my last order with this business.

Had to wait 90 minutes for delivery, when it turned up it was the wrong order. They didn't answer the phone so I drove there. They did replace the order but it was 2 hours after I first ordered it. I will go to my local takeaway in the future.

The worst chinese take away in Peterborough!! This is the third time they have forgot our order totally!! And we had to ring to find out that after two hours they had not even began to cook it. Absolutly rubbish customer service!

Fantastic food and great service

Very disappointed. With all service , food very bland no quality I don’t understand how people still go there . One of the dishes was chicken BQB but no BQB AT ALL, it was boiled chicken with a red colour sauce , the ribs the same the rest of the food was terrible . I had the feeling I was having the leftovers from some else. The lady serving us has long hair and every time she came to our table her hair was inside our glass anyway I moved away the glass , probably happened with the food . Horrible

Had a delivery here in Werrington this week and I was very pleased with the quality of the food. Will be using again thank you.

We have been there 2 days ago. We choosed the buffet menu that we had to choose 6 starters and 6 mains for 2 people. We have been told that if we want we can get more food as many times as we wanted. Starters were amazing but mains were a disaster. We got 6 really small plates almost a size of a tapas or smaller. The meat was only 4 to 6 bites in each one and veggies were the same too. All of them tasted the same. Like they used the same sauce for every single one of them. When we ordered 3 more items as the food was not enough for 2 people the plates we got were even smaller. Probably 2 bites each. I have never seen so small portions in my whole life. Also the waitress was rude when we ordered more. It felt like we were begging for food. Quality and quantity were both below average. I was very disappointed as this place had so good reviews and we wanted to get some good Chinese food but we didn't.

Unassuming restaurant where the food is absolutely exquisite. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Customer service is excellent and the food is amazing, so much so, we travelled 180 miles to eat here. Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed 😍😋

This is the best Chinese restaurant we've ever been to. First time back in 14 years and it is as good as it's ever been - the food is totally delicious, all cooked fresh to order and the smoke chicken and curry are superb. We came 170 miles back here just to have dinner here 😄

Ordered our food online at 4pm to be delivered for 6.05pm, 6.30pm arrived and no food as of yet and will be another half an hour as they said they had just received our order but I had received a Confirmation message to say they had received my order at 4pm

Ordered take out the other night via just eat, the food was amazing and piping hot when it arrived. All the wonton and spring rolls were crispy and full of flavour. My beef in black bean was a little salty, however still tasty and tender. The portions were massive and all of the food was so tasty. The prawn toast was nice and meaty too. Only thing that could maybe be added would be a freebee offer for orders over a certain amount like other places do as we spent over £30 for the two of us. Besides that I can't fault the place! Best Chinese take out around by far and fairly priced.

I ordered the crispy crisply shreaded chilli beef It was not at all crispy, it was very soft and soggy, could not chew it, just lumps of fat, no beef. This dish is supposed to be crispy. Would never order from here again.

Shanghai is our favourite Chinese restaurant in Peterborough, we have been coming for years.For the buffet type option, you choose a set amount of dishes for starter & mains and then you can order more of the same. The food is always fresh and hot! The price is also very reasonable.

So I ordered from shanghai Garden who usually are fantastic. Tonight the food was cold and shocking. No sauce and just plain unpleasant. I called the restaurant and the guy didn't offer anything for the poor food and hung up on me when trying to speak. Also on Sundays they are shut and use other branches to make the food and deliver. So your not actually getting your food from the restaurant you want.

Had a delivery meal last night with my wife, very very disappointed, roast duck, pork and beef 50 % fat and gristle waste, never again.

Went in to pick up my takeaway, staff were lovely and efficient. Food tasted good. I have also ordered through just eat in the past so I was comfortable with using them. Quick munch for a good price

Orders at 6.25 said 95 mins for delivery but turned up at 8.25 so very slow . Chow mein was fine but chips nearly cold and had to reheat .

Lockdown has proved fatal for so many venues so it is heartening to find that one of my favourite restaurants is still active.I have reviewed The Shanghai Garden before, and always positively. The standard never drops and the value is excellent. The staff are ever helpful and, as a going-away treat for a close friend, the evening was perfect.Briefly, the buffet menu is something we ALWAYS enjoy, the ribs are delicious in every variety, the choice of items is wide and all items are well presented.I just love the place.

My girlfriend and i had a really lovely evening, busy enough to create an atmosphere but not too busy that it felt crowded. The staff also weren't OTT with their PPE just using face coverings rather than full length sleeve gloves and full face screens like other restaurants which make it difficult to talk to them. The menu was really wide and all of our choices arrived quickly and were pretty amazing to taste. We had to leave quite quickly after finishing due to 10pm Gov curfew but staff were so polite in reminding us of the time. Will definitely be going back for sure.

Awesome meals. Now I am one who is not very easy pleased when it comes to food after being a chef for 25 years there is no wonder. I have never had a bad or under par meal from here. So go for it guys the tastes of the meals will dance around your mouth for some time. 10 stars

Had a delivery last night. Food delivered nearly an hour early. Lucky we are on lock down. I had to heat everything up as it was nearly cold. Shredded beef very chewy. Special chop Suey was watery with no flavour. We eat in the restaurant normally and it’s always top notch. Very disappointed!

Good chinese, fast hot food freshly cooked. The buffet is well worth the cost. Friendly staff who explain how the buffet works. Not much to look at from the front but go in and be disappointed!
