Using this take away for at least 5 years it’s been ok but tonight’s dinner took nearly 2 hours to get to me and when I received it after calling 2 times to ask where my order was it’s on its way on both times I responded it’s was on its way 15 minutes ago it was barely warm I couldn’t be bothered to call them because I was hungry but they won’t be getting my business any longer

Food was too salty causing heartburn.

I had the pleasure of ordering from Shanghai Express the food was absolutely mindblowingly tasty, especially the Garlic and Chilli Chicken my personal favourite. The people at the counter were fast and polite overall a great experience

Mate, this is a hospitality industry, it's not good when expressing ridiculous illogical attitude. Whatever wrong or right, its basically not necessary to curse customer directly.

The owner gave us a HORRIBLE RESPONSE and he was speaking like a CRAZY PERSON!!! I have been ordering from this shop 1-2 times a week for a few months now. As usual, My husband ordered a 75. Roast Duck with Satay Sauce and a 34. Special Roast Duck. But he ended up getting a 34. Special Roast Duck and a 45. King Prawn with Garlic and Chilli Sauce. I called the shop, intending to sort this out and either exchange it or get the correct dish next time, as I don’t eat chilli. But then the owner started screaming at me and insisted he was 100% sure my husband said 45 not 75. But we are also sure my husband said 75. Then the craziest thing happened. The owner even said if my husband said 45, the owner will die tomorrow and if my husband didn't say 45, MY HUSBAND WILL DIE TOMORROW!!????? WTH is this?????????? He refused to apologise for that and he said he wasn't wrong at all. I didn't call to argue, this was just a tiny mistake that everyone would make, I was just planning to get an exchange which is a reasonable way to solve it, but I didn't expect to get such HORRIBLE RESPONSE!! The owner is like a crazy person with extremely poor attitude!!

The owner displayed a very unprofessional attitude when delivering the incorrect order to my friend. Instead of addressing the issue calmly, the owner raised his voice and insisted with certainty that my friend had provided the wrong item number. In an alarming and inappropriate escalation, the owner stated, 'If I’m wrong, I will die tomorrow, and if you’re wrong, you will die tomorrow.' Such remarks are unacceptable in any context. Despite the situation, the owner refused to apologize and maintained that he was not at fault.

Terrible experience! They gave me the wrong dish, and when I politely told them, the boss was rude and even cursed at me. Very unprofessional and unacceptable. I don't recommend this place to anyone.

My always to go takeaway for a Chinese for years, great food

Ordered at 6.15 for a 7-7.15 delivery time. Food arrived at 8.05.

Delivery time and communication horrible. Food ordered at 19.08 no food until 20.45 had to request refund. Restaurant have no idea about where their drivers go.

Came really quick, so hot and tasted so good.

I phoned to ask on an update of my order and was spoken to with such a horrible attitude.

Driver went to wrong address, but phoned. Just Eat App has wrong locations 20A Pages Lane, so no wonder it was late. I have no idea why the Delivery address is wrong, I shall review that. Food was great, but chips poor.

Why why why why why, why on earth do you put freas peas in a curry, why??? All the Chinese food that I've eaten all over the UK and lots in Birmingham where I live, not one Chinese (except for yourselves) adds peas to their curries. I absolutely HATE green peas. I should not have to call you to order food and say what not to add to it, that's absolutely ridiculous. No Chinese (or Indian for that matter) adds great peas to a curry. That's the only reason why I've given you 1 star. I ended up using a siv after taking the meat out to remove all the peas in the curry. Not happy, not happy at all, absolutely ridiculous in my personal opinion. Nobody puts green peas in a curry, absolutely nobody. Oh yes, forgot to mention that we previously ordered a chicken fried rice and that too had lots of green peas in it. Once again the you are the only Chinese takeaway that we've evered ordered from and the food is full of green peas which we DO NOT EAT. Green peas, why why why? Enjoy your well deserved 1 star review...

Some elements were over done. Generally food was good.

I ordered the food at 5:15 and it took till 18:48 and when I called they lied saying it was stuck in traffic when the driver turned up he said he had only just picked it up not useing them again because they lied to me and it turned up cold

the food was lovely but when it came it was just about warm I had to put it in microwave for 5mins to have it hot apart from that I would recommend them as this was the first time this as happened

We regularly order from Shanghai and the food and service is good 90% of the time. That being said last few times the food quality hasn’t been the best, it has been lacking flavour.

Awesome food as always. Plus a very appreciated consideration to my wife’s request as she was having pregnancy cravings. Ordered several times from this place and it’s our favourite take out. Excellent as always

ordering a chinese takeaway for the family is quiet expensive (understandably) so we cant afford to do it very often. but when we do, its always from here. the food is always great and always arrives promptly and pipeing hot. top quality.

After a 2 hour wait £40 worth of food had to be reheated in the microwave which then ruined the food as it was all soggy

I had the pleasure of ordering from the takeaway on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional service provided by a young boy working there. Despite it being a busy weekend evening, he managed the orders with efficiency and a friendly attitude.

Requested the curry mild but it was spicy . Chicken balls were greesy. And then got a message saying dilivery was running late didn't even get an apology from the dilivery driver

Curry sauce was too sweet. Inedible from half way through. Meat nice and tender, hot on delivery, rice was lovely.

We have frequently ordered from this restaurant for the past 6 months, food has always been delicious until tonight, we received a green omlette that was clearly made with off eggs or made days prior, we also had hair in our chow mein and when we rang back that told us they would send out a new omlette which we didn’t want due to obvious reasons, when we asked for a refund they point blank said no, as we payed cash on just eat they said there was nothing they can do. Avoid this restaurant they do not care about there customers, had hundreds of pounds of us and couldn’t even have to decently to apologise.

I asked for the curry sauce to be mild and it was perfect had a mixed meat curry and really enjoyed my meal only downside were tge chicken balls they were over battery and very greedy sorry have to be honest but overall great service thankyou 👍

Chicken fried rice tasted bland not much colour prefer darker fried rice.needed more flavour disappointed.

Unfortunately my food came spilt and crushed, the curry was all over the other bags and containers. The rice foil case was crushed leaving the lid a little off which resulted in rice falling into its main carrier bag and causing the curry to go into the rice. Because of this I became paranoid that it was tampered with and was not able to eat the food therefore, have requested a refund for this order.

Used to always order from here. Seems to have gone downhill. Ordered special curry which has king prawns in, no prawns. Also used to get free prawn crackers. No crackers.

I order from Shanghai frequently as it is one the better Chinese takeaways. Normally the food is good quality and good portion sizes. On a few occasions the chow mein and the fried rice has lacked flavour, plus delivery times can be delayed.

Food is always amazing from this place. You get what you ask for, delivery is never late and the delivery driver is polite. Would recommend this place if they fancied a Chinese (Also get free prawn crackers when the order is over £15)

Amazing food and delivered early

We had a big order and it came in a box . Presentation was good. food was really tasty first time ordering from this place would definitely recommend.

The special chop Suey I ordered I specifically left instructions not to make it wet and soggy when the order arrived the chop Suey was filled with water in a container that was half empty and the prawns missing it was filled with mushrooms 2 strips of beef and chicken no pork .I would definitely not order from them again I'm very disappointed.

As usual a pretty good Chinese from Shanghai Express but disappointed in the chicken in the curry. One could taste that it was not freshly prepared but had used pre cooked chicken, and, from the stale taste I’d say it was at least a day to two days old. Come on guys I know you can do much better. Nice pancake rolls and decent shrimp toast.

Have used Shanghai for 13 years and never any problems. The food was cold and waited nearly 2 hours for it. Disappointed

favourite chinese, food is 10/10 and they always make sure to correct any mistakes without any issue.

Got a box of all my orders with extra sauces and free items. Everything was absokutely delicious and hot. Portions were large and excellent! The delivery driver was absolutely sweet and kind too. Thabk you for the free items. Will definitely be ordering from here again.

Best Chinese food I've had in years. Love it!

Delivered 1 hour late, and repeatedly lied to me about it being on the way. I waited outside for over an hour in -2°C because of their lying, and they didn't apologise once. Ordered through Shanghai Express website, and received an email at 20:43 saying the driver has left - just on time for the 20:55 time they gave. I get no signal in my building so went to wait outside at 20:50 because I didn't want to keep them waiting. At 21:13, still nothing! I called the takeaway and they said "the driver has just left". Okay, it's a 10 minute drive so I will wait outside. Still nothing at 21:43, a whole hour after it supposedly left the first time, and 30 mins after the restaurant confirmed that they had just left! I called again and was told 5 minutes. At 21:58, I finally got my order, after waiting in the cold for over an hour - funnily enough, the food was warm, and yet it was supposedly in the car for 45 mins. Just be honest, if the driver hasn't left with the food, just say.

I'm not happy after spending over £20 of a meal but when I called the takeaway no apology but said it was on the way . The driver didn't apologise either That's my local Chinese but I won't use them again

Food amazing as usual, but did not receive my bottle of coke i paid £3.70 for.

We have ordered before from here but today the food was nowhere near the standard of other deliveries. The chips especially were not nice even our children barely ate them

Don't really do Chinese food but I thought I'd try and read some of the comments thinking it would be banging :/ food was cold chips were cold and old( I'm guessing ) also and lacked flavour :/ it was ruined the experience I had to warm it up and add my own sauces to it .the only thing that was still warm was the pineapple fritters 👍 ( they were nice )think I will have ago at making them myself
