Shakespeares Head in Camden

We went for breakfast after a busy weekend. Well priced for spoons in London. Was busy with it being Mothers Day but drinks and food arrived quickly. Staff were friendly, and cleared plates away quickly when we were finished. Toilets were clean. Thanks for a good experience.

The manageress, Chiara, is incompetent, she takes the liberty of removing people from the bar because we are in her way when we were simply queuing to order drinks. The doorman is a very respectful and sympathetic gentleman, he had to make us understand that we couldn't stay when he had no argument, just because the manageress had decided. We are respectful people and just want to have a good time. Wetherspoon is a very good chain when the managers are good, unfortunately Chiara is a bad manager who thinks she is superior to her customers.

Staffs are friendly, fresh food.

Had fish and chips. Lunch time special. Fish was better than a lot of fish and chips shops I've been to

Became one of my favourite Wetherspoons, just have to choose wisely the time and day to go as that it can get very very very crowded. Very nice ancient pub, service was quick

Everything else apart from staff were ok. The staff are the most miserable and unwelcoming I have ever come across. Starting with the Spanish manager. I actually thought I’d offended her ordering my food!

Obviously a beautiful place but what makes it 5 star is the staff. Very helpful and attentive.

The classic Witherspoon‘s pub. Super affordable drinks, a very crowded environment with dirty tables, and solid food. No TV’s to watch the game but a fun and very popular spot to hang out. The traditional English breakfast was good but nothing special.

It's a Wetherspoons, great food free drinks a good service.

This is a Wetherspoon pub in London so it has specific decor for the location and name and ties in with the pub chain. The app is a must as long as you are at a table as the bar can get too busy to order drinks and food. I think the staff prefer the app as they appeared a little stressed when ordering. I visited on a Saturday afternoon, it would appear the pub was the starting point for a number of football fans, so I appreciate that the staff would be busy, however, it's a 'spoons so it has to be expected. The prices were excellent for central London and there is a projection screen for some sports, so I got to see the rugby. The food was good, wetherspoons food, made to order and was hot. Well worth a visit if in that part of London.

Usually a wetherspoons is a reliable place for a cheap meal. We came here and ordered an american burger and cheese burger. Bread was awful meat was meh. My partner nearly broke a tooth on a bone in the burger. Chips tasted microwaved. The place is quite busy on a saturday afternoon.

What's nice about this, apart of course from the prices, is the ebb and flow of customers. Business early evening, students from the nearby universities later, random groups meeting up throughout. And despite being busy, you can always get served quickly and find seats.

Standard Spoons offering, but right in the middle of London. Nice and pleasant people working there too, which is a bonus!

It's not a pub, and not a restaurant. The food is OK, but not special. Good for a quick bite and some beers. Desserts are nice btw, better than expected. The Big mixed grill platter was ok, same for the sirloin steak.

Very rude staff no sense of respect especially the bartender and the manager ! I was waiting first at bar the bartender saw me but choice to ignore me and serve another person ! The manger then served my drink gave me one drink I ordered two and she didn’t even bother telling me where the second drink I had to ask she just said it was settling no sense of respect

We discovered Shakespeare’s Head while touring Westminster Abbey. One of the curators said Shakespeare’s has a tomb in the abbey, but his body is in Stratford. He mentioned if we’d like to experience the family pub, owned by his brother, Shakespeare’s Head is the place. If you’re looking for a British Pub experience, this pub has high quality Fish and Chips. You can end your meal with a delicious toffee custard or lime tart. They have beverages that accommodate both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinkers. The location is busy in the SOHO shopping area, if you’re looking for pre or post pub purchasing. The building and decor itself has traces of Shakespeare plays, symbols, and history. The price was reasonable for quality and location at £31 per person.

Really lovely pub, great service from the bar team but there is an incredibly aggressive security guard. Swearing, threatening and very intimidating at closing time.

Super busy branch even quite early at around 17:45. I managed to find a communal table and sat with other people. Easier if you can to download the application from Google Play Store and order from there. Quick and easy. Having said this, there was a weak signal on my phone and WIFI took a while to connect to. I had the jacket potato with chilli bean non-carne and an Old Jamaica Ginger Beer to drink. Good value. Very reasonable. The jacket potato came with a light salad. It was nice but not sure on the 'chilli' as it wasn't spicy at all. It was also cold. The jacket potato lacked that buttery soft melt in your mouth texture but it was fine for a quick pub meal. My food and drink came out pretty quickly after I ordered. Staff were pleasant. I was on my own so luckily got a seat. If you are with others, you may struggle at peak times. This was on a Tuesday evening. Located right near Holborn underground station. Clean. Hold onto bags and phones as there are a lot of thefts in the area.

Meet with friends on short visit and loved the availability of seats, quick service and reasonable prices in comparison to other venues. Wings and strips are always a favourite, but be advised the portions are smaller, but the prices are accordingly cheaper as well. Would definitely visit again.

Its Wetherspoons and you know you'll get good value and great real ales. I do get irritated by short measures on the spirits. While waiting I watched one of the bar staff make 3 vodka and sodas right in front of me. Every one short. I did make this observation to the staff member who told me that they don't have to go to the top of the measurement cup. Tell that to Trading Standards.

Overly busy post-work Spoons. Does what it says on the tin but not a place for a quiet pint on Thursday night....

I haven’t finished my drink and leave there with my friend , then I went out for a cigarette,after I came back my drink is gone and no one take responsibility for it

The girl who took the order made a mistake, and I was the one who paid for it by having to add fries to the menu separately. The fries, by the way, were hard, the burger was dry, and it's been a long time since I was served something so bad... A disappointment because I've been to other Wetherspoons, and the food has always been fine.

As with most this is a standard weatherspoons. Decent food and drink for the money 😀

one of the more spacious yet cosy spoons i've been to - food took a while to arrive but worth what you're paying, and servers were helpful. drinks not included for breakfast platters but would recommend getting a tea as coffees can be quite watered down

The reason these pubs do so well is the price and quality of the beer…every time I have an Abbot it’s always excellent. When bought b with a meal it’s ‘free’. The food is consistently fine

Amazing restuarant I didn't expect much of atmosphere but it surprised me.

The worst excuse for "scampi"! Shrimp bits formed into a vague shrimp shape, breaded and deep-fried. They must come frozen in huge packages. I ordered online, and several of the drinks were "unavailable." All I can say is, everything came promptly after ordering.

Four of us recently visited while in London, food that we were able to order was adequate as hardly anything on the menu was available, drinks were ok.

Usual spoons vibe, decent cheap food and drink. Very disappointed with my service today though. I ordered a steak medium rare, received a rare steak. I returned it to the bar and asked if they could please just stick it on for another minute. A staff member came over to the table a minute later and said their manager said it was fine. I asked what was fine? The steak? It’s rare. They said the manager said it’s fine and I could either have it as is or they offered to recook a fresh one as medium instead of medium rare. So I got the choice between two steaks I didn’t order. Now I’m open to being wrong and Im sorry for the member of staff the manager sent over but I think it’s incredibly poor form from the manager to just send over an employee to disagree with customer on their behalf. Hypothetically, if I was wrong, was it too much to just stick it on for the extra minute I asked for? Instead you get your employee to come over, call me wrong and offer me two choices with neither leaving me with what I wanted. I don’t believe the customer is always right but this is not the way to deal with a disagreement. It left me in a sour mood and googling steak rareness pictures to make sure I wasn’t going mad! Other staff and the bouncer were friendly but safe to say I won’t be in a rush to go back.

Food is completely regular pub food, so quite good. Not anything fancy or mesmerising, but good value for money. Wetherspoon's is a classic pub chain, and the environment is very good and cozy, even for a very large pub. Service is just fine, but nothing personal, as you order your food online at the table Very recommendable if you're looking for a good meal without breaking the bank

One of those central london spoons that is nearly same price as every other pub. Occassionally they have deals on and you can try some small batch ales for pretty cheap. If you get lucky enough to grab one of the giant round tables with a big group then you're onto a winner. Basically it's functional but sadly not actually that much cheaper due to how central it is.

Classic Wetherspoons. Good beer and good staff. Cosy atmosphere for a central London pub near Holborn which is refreshing. Happily go here again.

Pedí bistec, normalmente me gusta el bistec aquí, pero hoy las patatas fritas, el guisante y el hongo se enfriaron. La salsa de pimienta en grano estaba tibia así que pedí calentarla o reemplazarla. Esperé durante 10 minutos a la salsa, mi comida se enfrió aún más y tuve que preguntarle al personal cuál es el retraso en la salsa. Cuando trajeron la salsa ni siquiera estaba caliente, tibia de nuevo

Great pub but for some reason you can't order on the app here (at least when I went) which in my opinion takes away one of the best features of spoons Edit: upon visiting again it turns out the app does work in this location but the service is a bit patchy especially if you are seated towards the back

It's a really nice pub but well overcrowded...

The shift manager (Nieve) had a horrible attitude and was extremely rude. I firstly received the wrong order which is fine as mistakes do happen. The second time around I got the correct order but the food was stone cold frozen! At this point I’d already been waiting 30 minutes for the food. I sent the frozen food back and after waiting another 10 or so minutes my group were all finished so I let a member of staff know I no longer wanted it. He was very polite and said he fully understands and that the shift manager would come and process the refund. As I was waiting for the shift manager the food came out and she then refused me a refund. She didn’t even apologise but said “the only reason it was frozen was because we tried to make it quickly for you”. This was absolutely poor. Being a regular customer at this branch, I will no longer be coming back. Not to mention for the order to come out frozen is also a massive issue as food not being cooked properly could leave people ill.

When I went to the bathroom during the meal, the plates and cups were cleared even though there was still some food left inside. I also left my luggage there. I will never go there again.

Overall the foods and drinks was okay. I don't think it up to what it use to be. But I think this place put me off is the security staffs. They need some manners to their customers, if not i would give more stars to atmosphere and overall experience.

Disgusting food, spoons gone down hill, ordered a burger with chips, the burger was embarrassing looking and there was 4 chips on my plate. Horrible experience. Cherry on the top the server fat shamed me 😡

Well what can I say, the staff could not do enough for you they were bloody excellent 👏👏👏👏 good service, excellent food and for London that's the main thing, spoons is not for everyone but you know what your getting, the building was amazing it was worth a visit just to see the inside, we have been here before and we wasn't disappointed then either, when you got fussy kids this place covers all bases every time, it's right by madame Tussauds as well so that was another bonus, would recommend can't say enough about the place well done spoons 👍👏

Great place to hung around with the lads, good atmosphere and better service

Left because we couldn't get a seat. Shame, because it looks good inside. Never mind, Penderals Oak is literally just round the corner, and there's usually plenty of seats.

Food came out prompt and was nice. Had to wait in line for coffee machine for around 15 mins. The queue was constant. Probably be a good idea to have another working machine. Staff efficient.

Our Evening was disappointing, rather large group of males encroached our tables, spilling drinks, breaking wind when we had our food brought out and being racist - not dealt with by security or management despite us bringing it to their attention a number of times. Shame on you Wetherspoons

Foods was bad. Ordered a largde mixed grill. Only gd part was the peas. Service was bad as well. The waitress was rude af and we didnt get our drinks for like half an hour after our order.

I've been to this quite large pub many times. Alone and with a best friend who was just as excited as I was. It's a bit off-putting that people often point out that you should watch your bags, but here it's meant to be nice and careful. The service at the counter was very friendly and I immediately felt at home there and had no concerns about spending the evening with the local Londoners. So - here you can end the day very nicely (even as a woman traveling alone) - and the subway station is not far away.

Siempre que visito Londres con amigos, sin duda venimos aquí. El ambiente justo, sí siempre ocupado pero las mesas bien espaciadas. Siempre buen servicio de bar como un montón de personal sirviendo. Comida siempre sabrosa. Tuve un pequeño problema con patatas fritas no demasiado calientes en los 3 platos. ¡En un instante aparecieron 3 enormes ollas de chips calientes recién cocinados! ¡Hasta la próxima visita!
