Beautiful food, fantastic service and staff. Lots off food for the cost, highly recommended. They also bought my daughter out a large slab of choc cake with a candle.

Went with family to celebrate my granddaughters birthday, first they brought out extra food that we never ordered, then when the bill came it was sent back twice as they had tried to charge for the extra food and extra drinks. I ordered from the special menu and was charged for food from the main menu. Never again.

Lovely food, but the restaurant was so cold, the heating can't have been on. A warm room makes all the difference.. We hope that when we visit next time the heating will be working and on.

The food is very good but the service is deplorable. Also I like to eat the way I won’t eat ie I like pickles with my main course I kept having to stop them taking them away. Unless they change their way of thinking I won’t be back.

Visited for early evening meal with my wife and 2 daughters. We've always loved this place but don't eat out often so hadn't been for over a year. We were suprised to read a few negative reviews but decided to ignore them and instead rely on our own past experience and the far greater number of excellent reviews. We made the right call. All of our food was outstanding. The staff were all attentive and excellent. We also visited the toilets which were spotless. Outstanding quality food for £88 for a family of 4 (which included a very modest 5% service charge that we were more than happy to pay).

We have been here a few times now and have never ben disappointed. Being from the Midlands we are used to having plenty of great Indian restaurants but this one would easily hold its own with the best of them. I loved the Byriani.

Was looking forward to returning to the Shagorika for a curry after 2 1/2 years, due to covid, and was definitely not disappointed! Absolutely delicious. Looking forward to returning later in the year.

We had a meal that consists of 5 different dishes with naan bread and they were all amazing really tasty, it was called tandoori t-something. Price good and food excellent staff lovely too. I'd recommend

I ordered a meal from this restaurant and was not happy, The chicken tikka rezela curry was bland with no spice at all and the best way I can describe it tasting like was mayonnaise mixed with burger sauce, chips were dry and garlic rice...

Having used this restaurant over the years it progressively gets worse had a takeaway this evening and it was again totally tasteless I shall not return

Good service, puffy poppadoms. I asked for more sauce for my karahi and the water sorted that. Tasty curry and the best mints. £46 on a Sunday night including 2 drinks each, mains and pops and pickles. Complimentary shots too 😋. Ps. Weeny bit chilly...

Under new management and it has transformed from an old favourite into a modern new favourite. Menu improved and the place has definitely ga more upmarket feel about without losing anything along the way

Went here 4 adults , been few times , as ever beautiful meals ( we all had different) staff very knowledgeable about dishes - very very nice , a Must if you like Indian food and can get there 🙏

Visited on a weekday for the early bird fixed price 4 course special. (rice is classed as 1 course)Was half full when we arrived at 6:30 pm, and service was reasonably prompt for drinks. Ordered the food, which seemed a long time coming and was quite tasty. Main course very slow at arriving, with other guests arriving after us being served before us. Food was OK. Desert offered was either ice cream or coffee, no option for the advertised fruit salad! Meal took over 2 hours. Overall impression was that the food was OK, nothing special, and service on the night was very slow.

We tried to get in to Goa restaurant, based on reviews, but it was packed out, so went to Shagorika a couple of doors away. It was very good indeed and we went back a second time. A very extensive menu and a competively priced wine list. Based on our experience, reccommended.

Outstanding First time I have tried Shagorika and got a take away tonight. Had the mixed meat madras and must say it was the best madras I have ever tasted. Too marks. Will defiantly be getting another and hopefully trying the restaurant out as well

What a fabulous little place. From the moment we walked in until we left we were made to feel like we were the only customers in there. The staff were very attentive and looked happy in their jobs. We had starters and main dishes and the food was presented really well and tasted fab. We were given a nightcap to try. The main man told us if we could guess the four ingredients he would cover our bill. I got 3 out of 4 so we had to pay our very reasonable bill ourselves. All staff were COVID friendly and the place was spotless. Would highly recommend.

Eaten here a few times and every time the food has just been superb. I do like a proper curry and have always ordered off menu. They night the simple Naga Lamb I ordered was just exceptional, and the roti cooked properly. If you want a decent non pretentious curry with fabulous service look no further.

Great food nicely decorated restaurant and friendly staff. We visited here whilst staying the night in a nearby hotel. We opted for the early bird 4 course meal. Lots of choice and cooked well. The food arrived well presented and hot. Great value and lots of food. We definitely return when in the area again.

We were fortunate enough to choose this restaurant for our evening meal last night. The staff were very helpful and polite. They answered our questions regarding the menu, helping us make our choices. The food was amongst the best we have ever had and all the bowls, dishes and plates were very hot and this kept the food warm. I give this restaurant 10/10 and would recommend it to anyone. Absolutely loved it.

Been coming here for long time but wondering if it’s been taken over? Curry (madras) was lovely but shocked at chips in little wire basket ! Must been about 10 in , and charged £2.50 Loved cobra here but first pint tasted flat :( The man who served us was lovely polite though

We decided we had to go back here after our last visit, yet again the service, the food was absolutely spot on. The staff are so friendly and the place is nipping clean. I'm celebrating my 60th birthday in 3 weeks time and cannot wait to go back!

The meal and service were really lovely! The staff made sure we were happy at all times and be sure to ask for a Faz special at the end of your meal made complimentary by one of the brilliant staff! It was delicious!

I was really looking forward to going back to this restaurant after it reopened under new management. What a disappointment, we booked a table in person and was told the restaurant was offering the eat out to help scheme. When we arrived our order and drinks were completed in a speedy manner. Then nothing we waited and waited for our starters and eventually had to ask the waitress to chase up the starters, which eventually arrived 40 minutes after ordering The main course then arrived after a short wait. However when the bill arrived we were shocked to discover the restaurant was not participating in the eat out to help out scheme and our bill was over£60.We will not be visiting this restaurant again, felt very ripped off

Great meal ended with a banging drink from Faz. Would definitely recommend coming here for any that haven’t been.

Ok so last time we came here it’s was loverly But...But...But...Tonight we came We booked a table for 6:30-645 for 4 peopleR Friends couldn’t come so we went We got r table at 6;45 and they said u have to eat And drink and be gone by 8;15 or move tables and said up there in the corner a table not at all good for me as I have disability issues and needs the table we booked originally as I need to have my leg out due to disabled .... they totally ignored that issue ..... We said sorry what We like a few drinks and then eat then drinks then eat at our leisure ???Take 1 hour or 5???No he said u have to eat and be gone by 8:15 latest ....We r not at all happyThe place is busy and never been so humiliated in my life ....We’re Spending good money and r good people and to be told eat and go within an hour or so is disgusting they just lost a lot of money We drink gins and champagne and I am not happy at all By there manners And there hospitality Not At all good They are not at all good to do this Most people take 2-2:5 hours or more in a restaurant and just because locals like and have the table we are on is not a reason to move us Sorry but you should have moved them not us sorry totally out of order !

So we decided to eat at the Shagorika as looked welcoming and the restaurant was busy. We were greeted as we walked in the restaurant and sat in the bar looking at the menu for about 5-10 minutes. We were then taken to our table and ordered our food. We ordered a starter each and mains each. The starters arrived in good time, extremely tasty however my Sheek Kebab was on the small and thin side. It didn’t last me long and I wish there had been a little more. The mixed kebab was well portioned and again tasty. The mains were fantastic, the chicken shashlik (extremely good), Desi Murgh (very tasty) with a side of rice, chips and garlic and cheese nan.All this plus three drinks in total for £46, great value and an enjoyable evening. The service was also very good and friendly.

My husband and I visited a number of months ago and finally managed to come back with some family. We had the works appetizers, starters, mains, desserts and coffee with plenty of drinks. All were 5* quality with excellent flavours and portion sizes.We tried a range of curries on our visit and each showed the skill and authenticity of the chef.There is a range of curries and starters available and all are reasonably priced with good offers available (3 course happy hour menu £10.95)Service here truly is amazing and the staff should be recognised for the attentive, pleasant and professional nature they provide. Our family has been through a lot recently and our time in Shagorika really made a special memorable moment. I highly recommend the mixed kebab starter and the Madras curry main. The liqueur coffees are also well worth a try to finish off.Thanks very much to the staff present on the 20th January 2020. You may not know it but you made our visit special and made us feel very welcome.

Birthday treat off me lass at the shagorika.Food was top notch, price is excellent.Bartender Faz is a nutter the young lad full of banter made our night very special with a free Gin cocktail and dessert with some sparkles on we also got some free extra popdoms to start with by the manager Best place to celebrate your birthday, will definitely be back!!!

First visit despite living near by, food of an an exceptional standard, absolutely the best-however must mention the fantastic attentive young people who work here, can’t do enough for customers, pleasant and friendly yet are not treated as assets by their elders- please value these exceptional young people.

I used to go here and the food and service used to be good. My friend and I went fairly late on a Thursday but they didn’t seem interested at all. It was all a bit rushed and not much care. The food was actually nice and prices ok but the lack of care ruined it for both of us. Really gutted as used to love this place 3 years ago.

This is fantastic we been here today for a meal we ended up having the £10:95 4 course per person it was a great choice and the food was plentiful and hot and spicy and warm in temp! The manager introduced himself he was loverly as was all the staff the place was busy and the food, it was amazing

We have been staying next door at The Grand and decided to have a meal at The Shagorika on our last evening, it was an excellent meal, we both had different starters and mains and they were all excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful with advice and we were happy with our choices. We will definitely be coming here again on our next Sunderland visit to our family. I would recommend unreservedly.

Really fabulous food. My Lamb Dansak was superb, and the others said the same if theirs, although one member of my group said his Lamb dish was a little lacking in the meat department.

Visited recently for the 5pm to 7pm special, really great. For a special the portion was large, I had a chicken dish, which had lots of chicken in, more than I expected. My husband had the sizzling Platter, again lovely fresh ingredients and plenty of. It. The service was good, always very pleasant waiters. Can’t wait to visit again.

I live local and as a birthday treat my wife suggested we visit the Shagorika, we used to be regulars in the days without a child, we were sat down straight away shown the menus and offered drinks, the now manager who used to be a waiter many years ago still remembered us :-), we went for the 4 course for £10.95 and extra Poppadoms, Pickles, and a Nan bread, drinks came out straight away followed by the Poppadoms and Pickles, the manager came over for a quick chat just before the starters came out, which were all well presented a tasted beautiful, plates cleared then the main courses and Nan arrived, the food was the best Indian food I've tasted in years, hot towels were then given out then Coffee and Mints, it was our sons first visit to an Indian restaurant and he loved it. We won't leave it as long as this to go back again, Great food, Excellent service, really looking forward to go again!

Very welcoming when entering , restaurant looks well set out with space between the tables, what you do notice is how clean , bright the place looks. Service quick but allowing time for you to sit and settle . Taken the meal deal , four courses £10:95 , food loverly , very tasty can’t fault it . Live local worth a visit .

One of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. Having a bit of a wait for main course showed that each dish was individually prepared. Very good wine list extremely well priced.

Food is amazing but looks plain, service is ridiculous had to ask the waiter 2x for our garlic nan to come as it was missing, drinks took ages to come to our table would not recommend!!!!

Me and my wife had a great time and meal at Shagorika resturant in seaburn our meals were excelent and the service was great would recomend this resturant to anyone who likes Indian cuisine.

After working away for 8 years I started going back here when I moved back home. Having been a regular years ago I was pleasantly surprised when the staff recognised me. Great food. Nice atmosphere. Friendly service.

Nice location on roker front. Arrived without booking and easily seated and quickly served. All food was hot ad and full of flavour and delicious. Only let down chips served were not chips! Poorly cooked roast potatoes but the curry was spot on

This well established Indian Restaurant, on the seafront at Seaburn, is welcoming, the food is first rate and the restaurant is bright, very clean and staff are very attentive and knowledgeable. The overall service is excellent.

Just eaten earlier at shagorika fifth visit (we travel from Carlisle) disappointed and surprised as its, worth the journey usually. It was, packed but that should.nt compromise quality. We were expecting a wait for meal and it was as quick as usual. Nan rice sides nice curry's watery and thin not as much flavour and half quantity of chicken and lamb compared to other visits. Shame as we look forward to it. Maybe try else where or, go back to favourite turkish when we visit in future.

Felt the need for Indian on Xmas Eve. Was a freezing cold night and there were only us and another table at the late time we went.

We ran in here wild outside aching from head to toe. 4 course special was a really quality package everything cooked and presented well. Decor nice. Staff attentive. Sorted out a, sore throat and a half decent night's sleep. So much so travelling from carlisle in next 2weeks to bring family for a meal! So that says it all I think thanks to all involved.

Came here pre football on a Tuesday evening. They do a set 4 course menu which is starter, main, rice and a coffee or dessert. That is only ice cream so gave it a miss. Had lamb in my dish which was very soft and the flavours nice. Sheek kebab nice and spicy. Kingfisher on tap. The only negative was the guy serving clearing his throat of phlegm several times and spitting into something. He did this in hearing and sight of customers. Strange

Many years since we were last here on the Sunderland Riviera for a curry. Our choice was light and well decorated. Not that busy straight to a table we missed happy hour before 7pm or four courses £10.95 on a Thursday or Sunday.

Great food but customer service terrible. Wait a hour for our starter. Then our main came out but no nan bread. Our bill came out with nan on and when questioned the reply was well we are busy. No apology. That puts you off going back again.

Food is good but, the guy on the till, need a bit of lesson on customer service and being friendly and how to treat a customer. Treated like we were there for a free meal. Expensive food too.

My husband and I visited Seaburn for an overnight stay and stumbled across this restaurant whilst walking along the sea front. From the outside it doesn't look much but we decided to try it because we love a curry. Inside was lovely and the food was absolutely delicious. At first we were the only ones in but it soon filled up. It was generous portions, well presented and very fresh ingredients. The price was great too, 4 courses for £10.95 on a Sunday bank holiday. If we lived nearby this would be our new favourite Indian restaurant.

Didn't arrive at the Sunderland Marriott until late so had a drink in the bar and walked the few yards to Shagorika, quite busy whne we arrived but we asked for a table for two, waited no more than 2 minutes and were then shown to a very nice table with plenty of room.

Lovely restaurant with amazing food which never fails to impress on Sunderland seafront. Staff friendly and attentive. Meals were nicely presented and served in a timely manner. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Excellent value for money and will visit again.

We have been customers at the Shagorika for many many years. At one time it was at least once a week. The food is always first class and the restaurant staff are excellent., friendly and efficient. The decor, lighting and general ambience are better than the average Indian restaurant. The menu is outstanding...one of the most noticable aspects of the menu is the large choice of dishes which include several unusual choices that we haven't seen in other similar restaurants. Certainly there are enough Indian/Bangladeshi dishes to please the most discerning diner. First class food, highly recomended.

Went last night to the Sunderland Mayor’s Charity Night. It’s good but not the best. Expensive drinks. Food good but small portions. There are better restaurants in the area. Have dined here on and off over the years and every time there is something missing and also why are there no female employees?

First time back at the Shagorika in a good 5 years - when l was last working in this part of the world. Went for a lamb biriyani and the Mrs a garlic chicken. Meat was tender, spice levels spot on and we had a really excellent peshwari naan. Got the window seat overlooking the seafront which was very relaxing. Service friendly. Under £35 that included poppadoms and a couple of drinks - all in all pretty good value for money.

Visited Shagorika last night. Never disappointed as the food is always so good. Staff are attentive but not intrusive. We hadn't booked but, despite it being a busy Saturday night, they quickly found a table for us. We did not have long to wait for the meal which was delicious and nicely presented. Situated right on the sea front this is a really good little restaurant.

Booked a table for two on Sunday night (Special menu) We had a four course meal for only £9.95 and it was well worth the cost. I would recommend this restaurant as the food was excellent the portions were not to big but of good quality.

Booked a table for 4 one Wednesday evening. The place was quiet despite the sea front being extremely busy which we thought was odd. We hadn't been for quite a few years so were slightly worried it had gone downhill! We ordered starters and mains. They came quite quickly but I was slightly disappointed in the amount of meat on our special kebabs. The portion was tiny compared to what I remember. The mains came out and although they were tasty, they were no longer on the burners. We always loved the novelty of having our curry in the burners - Its a shame theyre no longer used. We will definitely be back at some point.
