Wow, the food was delicious. Best curry I’ve had since moving to Sunderland. Exceptionally good. Used collection and food was ready in 10/15 mins. 100% will use again, or may try the restaurant

Cannot praise this place enough, food was lovely and cooked to how we liked it,the service was great nothing was a problem and very reasonably priced,lovely surroundings, we will definatley be back.

Visited here with my family earlier this week and we were all left quite unimpressed. We've ordered from here before and had no issues, but this is the first time we have ever eaten in. The food was not up to its usual quality and the service was incredibly slow. Whether it be waiting to for the food to arrive, extra drinks, or even when we asked for the bill, it seemed to take forever, and it must be noted that the restaurant was not busy at the time. Overall, this was quite a disappointing experience having enjoyed eating from here in the past, and it will affect my decision to eat here again in the future.

plain curry was watery and flavour less. naan breads was soggy and had to be thrown away. food was barely warm

Lovely tasty food and value for money

I can’t review a meal I didn’t have but used to be our go to place. During restaurant week we rang up to book and was asked how long we wanted the table for so this sent out bad vibes immediately thinking they would be wanting us out. So 22 of us got into Babaji without any questions the same evening and no problems there.

Been wanting to try here for a while but sadly I wasn't impressed. Ordered the Royal Platter and had 1 king prawn in it. the other meats tasted the same as each other but have to say the lamb chops were really good. Rice, poppadoms and naan bread were nice, lettuce on salad was a bit brown.

Beautiful, ideally located next to the hospital for long term patients.

First time I've ever had a bad meal. Everything spot on but the madras was watery and lacked flavour

No keema in nan bread no salad at all. Ordered poppadoms there was literally 1 poppadom. What come tasted nice but not much meat in the curry's but the lamb chops were realy chewy and fatty

Food was not as great as described. Had so much coloring. Just one king prawn was placed. won’t be ordering again.

Visited as a group of 7 this week after seeing some great reviews, couldn't fault anything, the service was great, and food amazing, all of it was packed with flavour. The bad boy naan was one of the nicest naan breads I've had, highly recommend giving it a try.

sauce wasn't like a sauce you get with the meal, chips recooked left it

Chips were not fresh stale curry watery and chicken tikka starter was dry. We nearly booked a table for 12 for next week at there restaurant so glad we tried there takeaway this week so there was only 2 of us that were disappointed. Could be our fault for ordering our food before it opened and received the day before leftovers this was not fresh food. Safe to say will not be ordering from them again. Please don’t waste your money.

No flavour and tough meat …. Absolutely terrible if I’m honest

Pre ordered the food for 7.30, inhad to ring the shop to see where the order was, this was at 7.45. It actually turned up at 8.05. All the starters were cold, chips slightly warm. Being busy isnt an excuse used when we ordered 2 hours beforehand.

Absolutely beautiful, best tikka masala I’ve had in a very long time! High quality fresh food, the rice was fragrant I loved it! Only issue I would say was that we need more tikka in the curry as felt there wasn’t enough :) Thankyou so much for a lovely meal I really appreciate it! Highly reccomend! *****

ordered the grabd platter and was very dry , salad was mush as it was with the hot food in the platter, ordered before and was bad but a friend said its lovely so ordered again and still no good , wont be ordering again sorry .

Gorgeous food, added to notes on just eat to make my curry spicy and do it every time, they even made a dansak we ordered less spicy when asked, always delivered on time too and prices are very reasonable, definitely recommend

Order came and it was leaking in the bag. Paid for poppadoms and they weren’t with our food. Food warm. Heard loads of good reviews hence why we tried it. Please don’t say we should have rang the shop and said we weren’t happy. We tried and couldn’t get through.

First visit and a great first impression. Greeted and seated within seconds. Very friendly staff. Beautiful clean decor and environment. Ordered mixed kebab starters which were beautiful and the yoghurt sauce delicious, a bigger pot of sauce would have been good. Meat cooked to perfection and the bhaji was spot on. Main courses were chicken Bhuna (usually my favourite) but unfortunately i found it lacking in flavour. My son ordered chicken tikka masala and it was gorgeous. Very tasty, good portions and meat beautiful. Pilau rice was spot on. My son ordered creamy garlic chips and he said they were best chips he ever had! Exactly as described . Creamy and garlic. I ordered garlic keema nan. Wow! Best nan bread I have had. Keema was like a burger 😃. Overall a really good experience. Reasonably priced good Indian food in a good atmosphere. Only negatives are small pot of sauce 😕 and the Bhuna was lacking. Otherwise brilliant and will be returning.

Volvimos al restaurante y les dijimos. No estábamos después de una comida gratis, pero ni siquiera nos ofrecieron una bebida o un cinco de descuento en nuestra comida. Así que mientras que la comida que comía era genial las relaciones con los clientes dejan mucho que desear, así que empezamos a ir a otro lugar.

first visit,ordered my comparison dish (tikka chicken jalfrezi) which i always get on a1st visit to a new restaurant,absolutely fabulous,only gave 4 stars for atmosphere as the restaurant was quiet when i visited but still pleasant,would recommend a visit

Not so much the eating in but delivery. When you work hard and you have 1 day off a week and your food is cold upon delivery and have this in it. It’s black and rock hard we swooped GOE for you guys but think we’ve made a mistake. I understand deliveries but I got a txt to say stick in traffic believe you may there’s no traffic that bad at this time of night from your restaurant to my house!

Iv never been a fan of Indian food but Chester’s lounge has changed my mind, food and service exceptional can’t beat them ❤️

After Delhi Emperor got reduced to a 1* food hygiene rating, we were on the hunt for a new Indian takeaway. Thankfully we have now discovered Chester’s Lounge. Enjoyed 3 x 4 course meal deals now and cannot fault the food quality and taste. Delivery is very quick and on time too. Will definitely have to wander down to have a sit down meal with you. Love love love ❤️

A little bit more lamb and less masala it was like eating plain curry and rice no meat but love the lamb just need a little more plz

Forgot my popadoms but rectified it straight away. Fresh and lovely food.

Food was fantastic however when it came to the bill, we were overcharged extortionate. Service was slow as we did not receive all the food at the same time. We spent 20 minutes discussing with the employees about the amount we were charged for.

Visited for first time two days ago should have visited sooner food and service excellent my husband had a prawn supra for a starter and said it was the best Indian starter he has ever had visited with son daughter in law and grandson all starters excellent main curry was hot and good quality staff welcoming and friendly service excellent restaurant small cosy and clean very reasonably priced for excellent food and service will definitely visit again and would recommend it to anyone looking for excellent food and service at reasonable price thank you for a good evening

Yes I ordered tonight to try it no chapati what I ordered one broken papadon but I ordered 2 I am disabled and they couldn't be bothered to come in lift just aswell my hubby come in from work

This is the second year running we have had our Royal Infirmary theatres reunion. 19 the first time 12 this time all had varied meals and all thoroughly enjoyed them not 1 complaint. The staff are really friendly and very efficient. The seating area is immaculate. For takeaways I get tikka chicken madras, keema pillau and a Dhall tarka. Have to say one of the best curries I’ve had in Sunderland and we are totally spoilt for choice. Well done looking forward to bringing the curry fanatic group to the restaurant

Very impressed with this restaurant , beautiful with nice decor and even with a power cut and workers fixing it, it didn't phase them at all, nice table lamps and soft lighting made it really cozy. We both tried something new off the specials and they were amazing. Excellent service and food and a brilliant atmosphere what else would you want ? I will definitely be returning next time I'm in the area 💯👍🏻

I'm always wary of places that have high ratings with a lot of one contribution reviews such as here and the top rated Indian restaurant in Sunderland. I am glad to say that this restaurant was excellent, having visited the place many times when it was San Marino's I was glad to see that the cosy atmosphere has survived. The food was superb, I always order onion bhajis at a new restaurant as a kind of litmus test and these were definitely made fresh on site. The rest of the meal was as good, one tip, if anyone likes pathia, you might ask for the sauce heat wise to be altered to your taste as although it was authentic pathia it was more than madras strength. The manager was very amenable and said to alter the chilli factor next time, and there will be a next time. Excellent food at a reasonable price.

Delivery was half an hour late and food arrived cold. Tikka chicken starter was tough. Mushroom pilau was greasey. Rogan josh was ok but not great. Very disappointed

First time ordering from here, Myself n hubby normally order indians on Thursday or Sunday special and get onion bhagis as extra and share which is more than enough food. Whenever we've ordered not from the specials we haven't ordered extras. Tonight I wish we did as didn't seem enough food, the chicken on the bhuna puree was shredded which was a bit disappointing, Food however was tasty but we will be ordering from our usual place from now on

Food was nice. Wrong can of pop delivered- not too much of a big deal. Needed change and delivery man told us to ring the shop😅.

Rarely leave reviews, but as there’s so many better Indians in Sunderland thought I would. Lamb and naan decent, other than that completely average. Madras tasted like Chinese curry in a way, masala watery with dry chicken, worst mixed kebab I’ve ever had from an Indian, 2 tiny bits of chicken, a greasy bhaji and a ok sheesh. Genuinely don’t bother when there loads better about.

First bad experience despite using a lot. Chips hard and cold. Nan bread clay cold. Nouns prawn in purée has one prawn. Very disappointed

Food arrived luke warm, chips were cold. Nan bread was really small. The onion bhaji was the only thing that tasted good and saved this review from a 1 star. The chicken tikka masala was so poor. It just tasted of pure coconut with no other flavour. I understand this isn’t a traditional Indian curry so this could explain that but probably best to keep it off the menu altogether. Menu selection was great and stands out to other take always. Ordered for a group meal. One of the options was the mixed grill with lamb chops and all the meat was so tender so ver impressed. The naan and curry’s were also great. Would definitely go back.

Went to Chesters Lounge this evening for a very nice lamb karahi Asian style hot curry, garlic and coriander naan which was superb also. Starters was a hot lime pickle tray with 2 poppadoms to open the palate. It definitely worked and would recommend. The staff are excellent without being too "In your face" I will definitely be returning for more "spiced delights" thank you and 5+++stars

I’ve visited this restaurant with family and with friends on several occasions and we have always had a great night with amazing food. The service is excellent, and staff are friendly and very accommodating making changes to suit my fussy 8 year old who cleared his plate! Also going over and an above when we’ve been celebrating birthdays etc. Last night we ordered food and had it delivered and it was exactly the same as if we’d been served it in the restaurant…piping hot and very tasty. The Boujie prawns dish is definitely my absolute favourite. Thanks guys we will be back soon.
