Average hotel In my opinion this is not luxury or boutique as described I don't believe it's value for money I've been to better hotels for less money The doors and windows were dirty I was disappointed I would say for a standard hotel/BNB adequate But it shouldn't be classed as luxury or boutique View from window was a car park , I did explain to a member of staff that the room wasn't up to a standard I expect from a luxury hotel ! I was told I was in already in a slightly bigger room to what I had booked and was told if I wanted to upgrade to it would cost £87 😲 Which would meant spending 200+ Totally not worth it

This a great place to stay for a night at the opera. Very reasonable price for service and quality of the rooms. We were upgraded on arrival as they were not so busy (Sunday night) and upgraded again then there was a small problem with the room. The staff were very kind to us. The room upgrades were not at our request but very much appreciated. The restaurant produced exquisite food and catered for dietry needs. The breakfast stayed open till 11am which is an hour later than usual and very much appreciated. Well done Seven.

We booked The Seven Hotel for our wedding night (and the night before), nearly a year and a half in advance via Booking.com — and the communication throughout was excellent. Every question we had was answered promptly, which gave us real peace of mind in the lead-up to the big day. From the moment we arrived, every single member of staff greeted us with a smile and such genuine warmth. The team’s friendliness and attentiveness made us feel truly welcome and cared for. Our room was absolutely stunning, we didn’t want to leave! Everything was perfect, and we’re so grateful for the thoughtful surprise and how happily all our requests were accommodated. When we returned to the hotel that night, I was still in my wedding dress. The night staff greeted us so warmly and, without even being asked, promptly called the larger lift for us, as the smaller one was already on the ground floor. It may seem like a small gesture, but it meant so much in that moment and truly showed how attentive and considerate the team were. Every detail mattered, and they never missed a beat. One of the most impressive moments was when I realised I had forgotten to contact housekeeping to refresh the room after we got ready for the ceremony. To our surprise, we returned to find the room immaculate and beautifully reset for the wedding night — a truly thoughtful gesture. Delivering exceptional service without even being asked is a hallmark of world-class hospitality, and The Seven Hotel delivered it with grace. I haven’t uploaded many photos simply because the hotel’s website already showcases so many beautiful ones and honestly, what you see is exactly what you get. The rooms, the atmosphere, the attention to detail — everything matched the stunning images online. And lastly, the full English breakfast was absolutely delicious (we had room service), a perfect way to end a perfect stay. Even though we live in Southend, we’ll definitely be back for weekend escapes and many more special occasions. So professional, so kind — best in class. Thank you for making our wedding stay so unforgettable.

To all, my wife and I have stayed at this hotel approximately 4 times.We have been incredibly well treated and welcomed on each occasion. We always have sea facing rooms with stunning views . Air con was loud even when it was switched off which caused me to have terrible sleeps both nights. You could do with a window cleaner as I could barely see out the windows. Besides that, the hotel is luxurious, clean and was a perfect choice as a get away for some r&r The bar, restaurant and restrooms are all beautiful The customer service is excellent and the food is well presented. I would stay again if the aircon situation gets resolved.

I think Seven Hotel is the nicest place you could stay at in Southend. Great location. The room we had was spacious and overlooked the estuary. The heating system was easy to operate, and we appreciated having a window we could open should we require fresh air. We got a good night’s sleep. I think the price I paid for the room for one night was fair. The room was not particularly clean - stains on carpet, bathroom looked very worn including rusting shower rail, rotten skirting boards, mould on tiles etc… and the space could’ve done with a proper deep clean. The bedding itself was clean. The promotional images show miniature shower products; these have since been replaced with refillable dispensers. Unfortunately, the ones in our room were broken, so I had to lift the lid off in order to access any shower gel or shampoo, which revealed that they were quite dirty inside. Again, a proper deep clean is needed. We were able to check in and out without issue. Staff were friendly. They sent multiple communications in advance stating a physical card was needed for check-in for an extra damages deposit which was refunded promptly on check-out. We were able to park in the car park easily, but it being January may have helped with that! Overall, if we were visiting Southend again, we would stay here.

We had dinner with friends here, and I was very disappointed with the quality of the food. I had a ribeye steak which was hardly 5 mm thick - hence too thin to have it "medium" done, more boiled than fried. I cannot understand why a place puts steak on the menu if they cannot do it properly AND charge a whopping £36 for it. That is a rip off and to avoid at all cost.

We booked this hotel last minute and it worked out just £15 per night more expensive than premier inn, so pleased with Seven Hotel. No problem with parking, 1st day we paid for parking out the front but moved car later that evening once a space became available in Hotel car park. Staff very friendly and helpful, nice ambience in restaurant with bi-folds open as weather glorious, roast dinner was delicious(saw people have the sharing roast dinner platter, this looked amazing!). We stayed in a "comfy double" room, was spacious, very clean, nice decor, fridge etc. The location was perfect, town centre few steps away, sea front & pier close but not that you hear the screams or see the bright lights, perfect distance for us.

Don't recommend anything with this hotel. We had booking for Wednesday but day before there was a machete attack on the main Road (30.06.2024). Quote from Daily mail: "Dozens of park visitors were filmed fleeing the scene on foot in a desperate bid to escape the knife-wielding youths. A dispersal order is now in place in the area, including in locations such as Marine Parade, Pier Hill, High Street, Western Esplanade and both the city's train stations. The order is in place from 4.20pm on Tuesday and will remain until 8pm on Wednesday. " Essex police put a statement where they ask people not to go there as its dangerous, 8 people have been later arrested (possession of knifes/machetes and they found gun as well.) Anyway, we called the hotel as we had booking on Wednesday and wanted to cancel booking and get the refund as this situation is not normal, following police recommendations and not entering war-zone. However the hotel did decline this, completely ignored situation and statement from the Essex police-not to visit this place as Dispersal order is in place. In my eyes this hotel completely failed with the support. The decision of manager is completely against the Essex police advice and Show no remorse of good will. Therefore I do not recommend anything with this hotel. And one more thing.. they ask for extra deposit before entering the room, from this experience i had with my cancelation and refund I would 100% recommend customers staying there to do video-proof recording of the room before staying. As I would not be surprised if they would charge u for damage u did not do. Stay safe.

We had afternoon tea at The Seven Hotel for a hen party. We had a private room for 14 guests. 4 of us arrived early to set up, and found the waiters polishing glasses and perfecting the table arrangement. They helped set up the music which was played on their sound system. We started with fabulous cocktails. Once everyone had arrived, the waiter brought out the prosecco, followed by sandwiches, scones and cakes, then tea and coffee. We weren't rushed at all, and the waiters came back every now and then to see if we needed anything. We had a lovely time, and the staff were superb. Thank you Seven Hotel.

We come here for our wedding anniversary meal every year and it is usually wonderful but this year was very disappointing! A couple of issues resulting in us not staying for our meal and was not offered any apology. I am very sad because we always tell everyone about the Seven. We did go somewhere else for our meal which was lovely. Unfortunately we will not be returning to the Seven next year.

Not very impressed. Clean, tidy. Bedroom table lamp faulty, shower design so bad that the floor was a wet slippery mess every time shower was used. No dustbin nor bottled water in bedrooms. Noisy aircon and breakfast- plates were not garnished at all, food only okay and served with cool coffee all round. Close to theatre and centre but cannot say we can recommend

I just want to thank the restaurant staff for a wonderful lunch. I booked for 14 people for Sunday lunch and gave our order in advance. Everyone’s food arrived at the same time and individual requests were all met. The food was wonderful, absolutely no complaints from anyone. The service was first class, and every person we spoke to was friendly, polite and there for whatever we needed. All the staff were great but I need to mention, Fazel, Bira (apologies, sure I’m not spelling the names correctly) the cocktail maker and the wonderful chef with a fabulous smile. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. Thank you 🙏

A really lovely hotel. Beautiful moonlit view across the water and the staff were very friendly. I really enjoyed my chat with parikshith our waiter. We had to stay there on an emergency and we were a little late on bank holiday weekend, but they actually kept the restaurant open half an hour after stopping orders which I thoroughly appreciated. The food was superb, honestly the best meal I've had cooked for me in YEARS! the chips were amazing and the steak was cooked to perfection as far as I'm concerned. I found the staff to be pleasant and helpful throughout. Thankyou for having us seven.

Good view from our seafront room and no real complaints there. We weren’t provided water at our table for breakfast which isn’t much of an ask. I had to ask for some and was only given the option of “still or sparkling”. I said “still” and was given a bottle. I was charged £6 for a bottle of water at my breakfast table and a service charge on top of that! In an empty restaurant! That’s the first time I’ve ever been charged for both water and service at my breakfast table. The director of the hotel even had the cheek to raise his voice at me when I challenged him on the £6 bottle. Overall, a very poor service where I felt I wasn’t put first as a paying customer- learn some respect. I won’t be staying here again.

Great location and great service. We were kindly accommodated to move rooms as the pics can be misleading size wise. The young man on reception desk was exellent and nothing was too much trouble. The only downside was the shower had a used contact lens in it. The restaurant was good food but the restaurant service was disappointing.

I've used the hotel several times for work in the past year and my company use this for staff staying in Southend. When you check in they ask for a swipe of a credit card. 6 weeks after my stay I was checking my credit card statement and noticed a £50 charge from Seven. I called them to query this I was told a coffee tray was missing after my stay and they charged me £50 and accused me of stealing it. How dare they, I never even touched the thing. I received no communication regarding the charge and now taking the matter further. Never stay at this hotel unless you want to be accused of being a thief.

Honestly, possibly the worst hotel experience me and my partner have ever had. We stayed for two nights, travelling from Derbyshire. I am currently suffering with a double Pulmonary embolism so I looked for the highest rated hotel where I can be the most comfortable to rest if I needed a break from going out. We paid £381.60 for the two nights and the hotel states luxury so I expected it to at least be clean and comfortable. After a nearly 4 hour car drive where I fell ill with the flu half way down, severe aches and high temperature so I was very uncomfortable for the stay as it was. Upon arriving, the car parking was awful, but the girl at reception kindly let us know we could park in the car park and move it over in the morning to avoid charges. As it was, she checked the cctv and saw a spot so we moved the car. The reception area is lovely and luxurious. I thought this would carry through. The room was well designed but run down. The shower was covered in limescale, dirt between the tiles, lamp shade cracked and had masking tape over it, the exterior walls were damp and the windows had mould which they covered with another window on top. The beds were hard and uncomfortable but it would do. At 10.30pm on the 12th of May, the same day as arrival, water started pouring then dripping from the smoke detector (?) We both went downstairs, at this point I was in a lot of pain and just wanted to sleep. We mentioned the issue and the man and he found another available room. This room was directly opposite the pub where it was very loud even with windows closed. But the worst part was- the room wasn't cleaned. Other than the bed being made, there was a towel on the floor by the door, a tissue across the room and the bathroom was a state. Soaps used, weird orange marks all over the toilet seat and sink. Hair on the bed. It's like the cleaners did half a job and gave up. My boyfriend went to reception by himself and kindly asked if there was another room. The man at reception apologised and found us an upgraded room. This room was about this size I expect a normal room to look like, the shower still had limescale, and the lamp hanging above the bed had one of the three strings holding it up broken from the lamp, being held by the electrical wire. We later watched through the door's peep hole one of the cleaners clearing out peoples alcohol from the room opposite us and downed the remains of what looked like champagne. No wonder the rooms aren't clean. It was an awful experience and should not be allowed to be named a 4 star hotel. I felt dirty staying in this place. It probably was luxury when it first opened but not anymore. Won't return and will be telling people to stay away. Only plus side was the reception staff being nice. They need new cleaners and to replace the things that are broken and outdated! Had no partial refunds or free drinks for the trouble, just a bigger dirty room.

Always end up going here when going to the cliffs , they have the monopoly here. Food is always great but service is ok when you are waiting for food. Was there yesterday and ordered coffee, before the coffees had even arrived the abrupt and loud waitress was putting the bill down on the table. I made it clear we were not paying until we had got and finished our coffee. She was also handing bills to customers who had entered after us. I know that want to get as much trade as possible but some customer service wouldn’t go a miss. Rush,rush, rush is how it feels.
