So there are several reasons for this poor review. Myself and 7 others booked a bottomless brunch for a 28th birthday and it’s safe to say we were very disappointed. It took 45 minutes for us to get any service, when we was served we CONSTANTLY had to ask the staff for top ups on the drinks which they would often forget (it’s not really bottomless when this happens). The food we got was nothing special, but what was more frustrating is that the veggie meals came first and 15minutes later the meat meals came, so we ate separately. Because the staff took so long to serve us we was informed that there was a booking at 8pm but luckily our two hours for the drink finished at 19:45. Well at 19:50 we were rushed to leave with them giving us paper cups, this is unacceptable and very poor service. We asked for our service charge back and left not to look back. If you read this seven at Brixton team then leave the bottles on the table if you are unable to fill up the drinks when required.

We wandered Brixton Market on a very uncrowded late Sunday afternoon (most stores closed) and stumbled upon Seven at Brixton. The service was outstanding and we took advantage of 50,% off all food after 4 pm We ordered madly and basically licked the plates. Great atmosphere and they might even play your favorite music if you ask. On our night they were in an American 60s-70s blues and soul kick so we asked for some Rolling Stones and got our wish. Just a real chill place with great food. GO GO GO THERE!

Lovely intimate atmosphere. Ordered the sharing platter for £20 which was a few bits of bread thrown on a board, some meat, cheese, and what was called ‘Patatas bravas’, but was actually more like a plate of chip like cubes with some sauce dolloped on top - not good, not tasty and certainly not worth twenty quid. Service was very friendly, but not very attentive. The food definitely needs work and imagination. But great place for a few glasses of vino and a catch up.

I could not recommend this place more. Having lived in London for 6 years and been to countless bottomless brunches, this place exceeds all expectations. Food is incredible, they are so attentive rice with drinks that you never have to ask for it and honestly just giving you the best experience. We were lucky enough to be served by Emily and Cassandra who were so nice and even gave my friend who was celebrating her birthday a cocktail free of charge! Go here. You will love it!

Seriously... I'd been planning to stop in and treat my daughter in the sunshine all day, having seen a placard by the roadside for churros and chocolate - what a disappointment, beyond belief! £4 for 3 doughnuts and chocolate sauce. Not only did they take a while to come out, but once they arrived it was clear why. They were solid. I crunched my way through one while my daughter licked the sugar off hers. The sauce looked like hot chocolate; runny and not very appealing. If it wasn't testament enough that mine could be used as a hammer - having licked the sugar off hers, my 2 year old returned hers to the platter half sucked declaring it to be - yucky! It did make me laugh, but I wasn't paying for that. The staff acquiesces and were very apologetic and 'on side'.... they offered me a coffee or new platter, but it was an 'on the way home' treat, so no time plus I don't drink coffee - just saying! Might try again if someone else pays, but needs some work, well a lot of work. Not much there to start with - that I could have dealt with if they were good, but beyond belief bad for me to leave them there and walk away...

We booked for brunch, service was unbelievably slow and they got every order wrong. Some people’s dishes arrived before others, other dishes had to be sent back as they were wrong, drinks orders were late (and one was wrong). To cap it all when I complained I got the waitress mouthing ‘rude’ at me behind my back and then she slapped the late orders down on the table without a word. No apology, nothing. I can accept slow service if the staff are honest about it, everyone can have a bad day, but insolence and stroppiness are not acceptable. Food was alright but I can’t see this place lasting long. There’s plenty of alternatives in the area where the staff are decent friendly people. Avoid at all costs is my recommendation.

Funky vibe, good for drinks but too loud to have a conversation over dinner inside unless you shout to one another. My friend & I ordered 3 tapas dishes each. They brought out a selection of dishes on a platter & I recognised 2 of them as ones we’d ordered but not the 3rd, so assumed my friend had ordered that one (& she assumed that I had..). We were unaware we’d been given the table next to us order. About 10 minutes later our actual order arrived and we notified the waitress that something was a-miss. She fetched her manager ‘Sophie’. Sophie unfortunately had an insolent attitude. Her opening line being “I’ve been told you’ve got a problem with your order...” (accompanied by an annoyed expression on her face). We explained what happened and she scoffed “Well you’ve started eating it now...!”, huffed and stormed off. No apology, no conversation, no nothing. We finished our meal giving some of our food to the table next to us, as there were duplications. Our bill arrived and we were charged for the food wrongly served to us despite raising it with ‘Sophie’ at the time. I advised our waitress ‘Winnie’, who was polite and far more professional than her manager, and Sophie came back out to our table. Wow.... Sophie stepped her bad attitude up a notch, to the point that customers around us were shocked. She shouted that we “were unfair refusing to pay for it, as we’d eaten the food” and she “will not take it off our bill”. We tried to have a conversation & explained we’d already started to eat it before realising it wasn’t ours but she repeatedly shouted that we were being unfair & we should pay for it. When we refused, she again stormed off. It was impossible to have an adult conversation with this girl. Winnie later returned with a revised bill and apologised saying that it was her mistake. Winnie really ought to be managing this place.

I recently visited Seven with my partner during our first trip to Brixton. At first we decided that we would just visit for a drink whilst deciding which restaurant in Brixton to visit - then we ended up eating food here. We decided to opt for just 3 tapas in total as a 'snack' before picking up something else later - however, as the food was so tasty we ended up ordering another 3 tapas and staying for the whole dinner. The price of the food was relatively inexpensive, which was aided by the weekday cocktail offer. All the food was very tasty - but standard for a tapas menu. The service was a little slow, but I take that as part of the Spanish experience; though the restaurant wasn't that busy (we visited on a Tuesday evening). The restaurant was very small and friendly, with good music and bar stool seats. This is somewhere that I would recommend for a quite bite.

I like Seven at Brixton, I like it's location, it's cool vibe and the fact that it's a great meeting place before heading off to Brixton Academy. But there is a flip side to the laid back vibe and that is although the staff are friendly, service can be slow and waiting for food painful, which is not what you want when you want to catch the support band as well as the headliner. The three times I have been it has been hit and miss and I think that is poor when the prices are above average in the cheap eats range.

We thought the tapas were very good, judged against tapas enjoyed in Spain. However, it was disappointing, given the brevity of the menu, to find that one of the (three) red wines was unavailable, as was one of the (three) desserts. It would have taken only seconds to tell us what was "off", rather than allowing us to choose and then saying we couldn't have it. It was extremely irritating when we came to order coffee to be told the coffee machine was being cleaned - surely they could have checked with us before starting the process? And why do it when they were still open? The service was quick enough and not rude, merely rather disinterested and over-eager to be clearing up at the end of the day - not that we had lingered beyond closing time. I would go again to enjoy the food and drink but in the hope that it was all rather more professional and enthusiastic.

I recently met a friend here for Sunday brunch. Brixton market (a few minutes walk from Brixton tube or overhead station) now has loads of places to eat and we were spolit for choice. We liked the menu here so gave it a go. I ordered the bacon butty - which is actually crispy prosciutto with an egg (with cooked white, runny yoke also known as "sunny side up". There was chilli jam smeared on the bun...if I had this again I'd opt to go without and have a squirt of ketchup instead. My dining companion opted for mushrooms on toast with an egg and chorizo. Both were really tasty. Complementary cucumber water (brought over whilst we waited for our food) was nice. We also ordered hot drinks...an americano and earl grey tea. These were nice but didn't arrive until we were half way through our meal. It didn't look overly busy but there may only have been one person waiting tables. With tip we didn't get much change from a £20 which I guess is reasonable in Brixton these days!

Set in an old market building, the eclectic furnishings and decor made us feel immediately comforted! The menu is very good value for money and also intriguing; spicy Bloody Maria with a Spain in a Bap for me and an El Bacon Butty for my husband. What emerged from the kitchen was a taste explosion; chorizo sausage, spanish ham and morcilla de Burgos with a perfectly cooked tomato and fried egg on sourdough. Absolutely stunning. We had flat drinks, followed by lack of service for the best part of half an hour, then waiting 40 mins for some stodgy bread, horrendously overdone calamari, and 5 slices of anchovie that cost ~£1 each. All that after asking staff several times for service. Utterly ridiculous, and it didnt even taste nice after all that! I didnt complain about the drink (though in retrospect probably should have done) though I was about to cancel food order and go when it turned up. I've been a couple of times now, once for dinner and drinks and the latest for bunch and coffee and the food and drinks are very good. I had a the chorizo breakfast sandwich and it was delicious paired with a flat white. The waitress noticed my friend had given me a card and present and asked if it was my birthday, to which we replied it was nearly both our birthdays and we were meeting to celebrate them early, and she brought us each a free glass of prosecco which I thought was really nice. We stayed ordering drinks for about two hours and were never rushed. My only complaint is that it got really cold! The heat seemed to be on a timer, but when it went off, as there's not a proper door to keep the heat in we froze a bit until they turned it back on. If you go when it;s busy this isn't a problem but as it was around 11 and not busy, they should have kept the heat on. If you want good cheap eats and reasonably priced drinks, it's a good place to go.

We went to this restaurant for a friend's birthday and the experience was terrible from start to finish.Firstly, our booking had been put under the wrong time. There were people sat at our table and rather than move them, they moved us to another table upstairs which was fine.Once upstairs, we were offered a shot each, we asked if this was free as we didn't order any shots, we were told it was on the house ( we assumed for being moved to another table) about 10 mins later the waitress comes back in saying we will have to pay for the shots. When questioned about this, we were told the shots were ordered online when the booking was made, which is wasn't. After about 10 mins of arguing the fact that we should pay for these drinks as we did not book them and was told they were "on the house" the drinks were taken away, some had been drunk and others had been sipped at - lets hope they didn't sell these on?The waitress was very rude and surley with us for the rest of the evening, it took ages for our food to arrive and when the food did arrive we were left to our own devices - no one came back to check on us throughout the night and trying to get the bill at the end of the night took almost an hour! The food was nice but not worth the price we paid. To be honest we should have just gone to La Tasca! Service was poor and food was over priced.

The food was nice - I really enjoyed my avocado on toast. However, despite the website claiming that as part of the bottomless brunch Bloody Mary's were included, when we arrived we were told that the only option was Prosecco (Yes, I completely acknowledge this is a 'first world problem'). We had booked at Seven at Brixton specifically because I love Bloody Mary's so much so this was a little disappointing to say the least. The location felt rather dilapidated - old and broken board games with bits missing so we weren't able to play them and it was absolutely freezing in there due to the being no real door. Shame.

Came here with a group of friends for a birthday meal on 9th Dec, our first drinks took almost half an hour to turn up even though it was early in the night and there were several bar staff standing around doing nothing. As the restaurant got busier the service got worse with my second drink a simple spirit and mixer taking over 45 mins to arrive. After asking the waitress several times where my drink was her only response was that it was on it's way and she didn't "actually" make the drinks. The food service wasn't much better with the majority of the food coming at once but then several things being forgotten which we then had to wait a further 20mins for. By the time the last dish arrived the rest of our party had finished eating and were eager to leave and go somewhere else. I understand that places get busy on weekends but the waiting time and quality of service was poor at best. To top it off the waitress could only offer a sarcastic apology at the end of the meal, not that we even asked for one.On the plus side the food was decent, I would have probably enjoyed my time here had the service not been so terrible

Have been here a few times - love that you can easily book, even for reasonably big groups, love the sharing plates - especially the calamari and the charcuterie, although I thought the chill and mint aubergine was very average. House cocktails are fun and all drinks are reasonably priced. Service is a bit hit and miss - some staff are very friendly and attentive and others are lax. We later realised this was probably because our table had been booked for 7:45pm (bear in mind it was only about 6pm at this point!)All they need do in this situation is let us know when the table is booked and communicate between themselves so that they know we know we have to be off the table by a certain time and which would also avoid multiple waiters asking for our order every few minutes! Having not been to Brixton for many years we were amazed to find Brixton Village during our trip back last weekend. With a mass of quirky shops and every kind of food offering you could think of, we couldn't wait to explore. After a delicious lunch further into the old market the day before we decided to try another outlet and liked the look of Seven for brunch. What a bad decision. After waiting 20 minutes to even be served, we had watched a series of disgruntled customers querying the service and wait for food. That should have been enough to send us on our way but we decided to persevere. Ten minutes later our orange juices arrived. Finished them. Then our coffees arrived. Finished them. After another 20 minutes I asked the waiter if he knew when we would be getting our food order. He mumbled an apology but we never got any update. In the end, with a train to catch, I ventured to the back of the restaurant to ask again. Another wait and then someone new came bustling to our table with what appeared to be food wrapped in tin foil. Apparently they had a 'new team in the kitchen'. He rather begrudgingly offered to take our drinks off the bill but I suggested we just leave to which I was told 'this is the best I can'. He even had the audacity to query why I felt an hour was too long long to wait for our entire order, correcting me to say we'd 'only' waited 40 minutes for our egg & bacon sandwiches! Yes, all we wanted were egg & bacon sandwiches. No big complicated fry-ups or larger plated meals. Feeling pretty disgusted we left with our packed brunches and found a bench in the sunshine to quickly eat them. If the wait and dreadful service hadn't been enough, the butties were then just more painful. They were truly awful. My fried egg cold and like rubber. The roles dry and tasteless. We soon ditched them and left Brixton hungry and very disappointed. We should have gone with our initial gut feeling after all. To be avoided...

The food was OK but how can you go wrong with slicing cheese, providing 4 tiny squares of bread and heating some patatas bravas up...this would be laughed at in Spain but it seems young white Brixton people think it's 'cool' to wait 1 hour to be served the above. we nearly passed out from hunger, they need to up their game

The food here is very tasty as are the cocktails. The food comes in a tapas style and there are some dishes for vegetarians but there isnt a big selection of dishes on the menu. Unfortunately when I visited the music was very loud and it took a very long time to make our order despite trying several times. Our food also came at different times which was annoying as there were long gaps in between some of the dishes.

I was really lucky to get availability for 35 people for a birthday party here at 10 days notice. The staff were really helpful, made sure there was enough seating out for my group. A few people had trouble finding it, as google maps isn't clear and its IN the market, so you have to know where you're going. And we had some stress with the bill, as food had been sent to the wrong table, and not all billing was tracked to the right person- though we were a big group and no doubt difficult to manage. The food was also excellent and good value, and it was a perfect spot to eat and then sit having drinks for a few hours. Would recommend.

After a good meal at a nearby pizza outlet, the evening was to be rounded off by a couple of glasses of white wine at this establishment. The wine arrived in tumblers and was low quality at £4.50 per glass. Whilst sipping the awful wine, there were two cockroaches walking along the shelf behind the bar. This was mentioned to the manager who said it was a problem. How can a food place put up with this? The final outrage was that the lady on the till insisted that two large rather than regular glasses of wine had been consumed and so the departure was in disgust with no intention of ever returning.

Ordered the brownie sundae for dessert but waited more than 45 minutes for it still not arrived. So cancelled the order. I think the waitress must have forgotten. Then the bill came with the dessert price on it. Dissapointed with the no churros and left further let down with the no show dessert and then being charged with something that didn't arrive . I would come again here again but maybi not order a dessert

I often frequent Seven for pre-dinner drinks or pre-night out cocktails and think it is one of the best cocktail places in Brixton. Not pretentious and in a nice setting in the village -deceivingly big (upstairs and heated front as well as downstairs seating) although it is always busy. You can book in advance.Cocktails are good- the menu changes every now and then so you can try lots of new fun concepts but they are happy to make the old classics too. Prices are reasonable (£5-7.5) and Friendly staff are great at recommending them as well. I've only eaten here once- the tapas is satisfactory but there are much nicer places for tapas in Brixton so I was disappointed. Overall a great cocktail place, friendly staff, board games and books if you so wish and well-priced for a London bar.

I visited Seven at Brixton after a recommendation from a friend. Brixton seems to be getting more and more gentrified by the day and this place fits perfectly into the hustling and bustling Brixton market!Cocktails were very reasonably priced with a wide range - 8 cocktails came to £44.Certainly a bit different to most of the usual 'samey' cocktail bars in the area. Would make a good informal date place too!Recommended.

I like the simple ideas that were used to decorate Seven at Brixton without overspending in materials and energy. I believe that this is the way to move forward for the environment of modern bars and let's finally leave behind the expensive design of previous decades. This is a friendly and nice venue where you will enjoy average spanish wine with average tapas at an average price. There are some books to borrow if you go alone (better read books than facebook) and the music they play is nice. The main attraction is the 'old fashioned' cocktail, a bourbon served in a bottle filled up with smoke of cedar. A unique experience right in the heart of Brixton - remember to share an 'old-fashioned' with your friends.

Such a sweet little place and all the staff are really lovely though rather forgetful. The food is bland, disappointing and really overpriced for what it is. The garlic Gambas are already peeled prawns in a watery, smoked paprika sauce, the escalivada just tastes of nothing and the patatas were really undercooked and the tortilla was the driest thing I've ever eaten. The only good dishes were the jamón and the cheeses- basically the things they haven't prepared. So sad as the menu sounded delicious but I wouldn't bother going again, the food is a major let down.

We went here last night, a Thursday. It was busy but not packed. Our table was booked for 8pm. It took 10 minutes to be offered a drink, a further 15 minutes for a cocktail to arrive. We ordered about 10 dishes. By 9.15pm, no food had arrived - apparently the kitchen had run out of containers to put the food in. We were not offered any bread or even brought the olives we had ordered. When the food did arrive at 9.20pm, we only got 4 of the 7 dishes we ordered (the remaining 3 never did arrive). The waitress was sweet and apologetic but it's unacceptable to have to wait an hour and 20 minutes for food on a Thursday night. If you can't cope with that amount of covers, you shouldn't offer them. The food was nice but to be honest - it's completely put me off and I'd never go back.

Booked a table for 10 to begin a birthday night out with some cocktails and the staff were very friendly and accommodating via e-mail and over the phone. We were a bit late and also came in drips and drabs but the staff again were laid back and happily made sure our reserved tables became available as people arrived.Once in there and sat down we were a bit confused about what the drinks situation was. We had a £50 deposit as a bar tab and it seemed we couldn't use this at the bar so we waited for the table service which was pretty slow - granted it was pretty busy but still it perhaps could have been better. The waitresses/bartenders were nice when they did see to us though. The drinks...well the menu was interesting and I hear they change it regularly which is cool and at £5-£7 they were reasonably priced. I did feel there wasn't much in them though both in overall quantity and alcohol content. The mojitos felt a little too much just ice and some of the others tasted a bit weak but they were still nice and I guess in London that's what you get for £5.The atmosphere was decent though, good location and it had a decent vibe. I enjoyed the time there but I wasn't really leaving thinking I can't wait to go back. Finally, I'm pretty sure the music was a bit dated. Like not dated in a sort of 60s/70s vibe but like 00s music that was overplayed on the indie nights at uni (Libertines fair enough but Pigeon Detectives at one point, I was like oh no they didunt!). It could have been worse I guess.

The thing about Brixton Village is that it is not a village it is an undercover market. We were hungry so we stopped in this small restaurant . The waiter was good but the food was expensive and not great. The Iberico ham looked as if it had been cut and left on a plate to dry out and the prawns I would guess had been frozen before cooking. There are so many other cafes in the maze of shops but beware you are talking London prices because all the "cool" money has decided to eat here .

I'm a huge supporter of Brixton village and it's relaxed yet cool vibe. Seven is certainly one of the highlights, and is always busy of an evening. The cocktails are the first thing to comment upon - a frequently (perhaps daily?) changing menu of delicious alcohol based cocktails, with quirky additions. My Beetroot and pink peppercorn vodka drink was scrumptious, but came complete with a honey drenched carrot laid atop it. Visually great, but I was left with honeyed fingers and a messy table! The food is always good, and I find very reasonable for the amount of food that arrives. I like the sharing platters. The staff are always friendly and helpful, but at peak times it can be a while to wait. The waft of fish from the market is also most noticeable in Seven than any other eaterie, and can be off-putting

Booked space for 20 people on a Saturday evening. Ordered 3 separate orders for food from the table servers - after 2 hours of waiting we told them to forget the food as it still hadn't arrived - most of the food we had ordered was cold tapas. Rounds of drinks took an age to get to the table. But they lost out - after being there for 2.5 hours the 20 of us only spent £90, when we would have spent at least 3 times that easily if the service had allowed us. What a way to run a business - plus spoiled the 30th Birthday drinks we had booked having to go elsewhere for food after.

Entering this bustling tapas bar in the colourful Brixton Market Place, I was excited about the night ahead, the music was great and the atmosphere, like the nearby Avenue, was electric. The decor was cool and the bar busy. After speaking to two members of staff, one clearly high in ranking than the previous, I was informed that although an email had been sent about our table booking no reservation was placed (we had also spoken to someone during a phone call to reserve a table for 8 O'Clock) so I was directed to a shelf with bar stools and squeezed into the corner. At this point i was unsure if i should buy a beer from the bar and order some tapas there or if a waiter/ess (there were a few around) would take my order? I opted for the former and bought a Spanish beer, cold and great. As my friend arrived I didn't know what to tell her about the table and as she went up to the bar to order food she was passed by a couple who'd walked in from the street and were directed to a table?? After some words the staff swapped us over. This is the best thing they did all night. The service was shoddy, and we may have well been in Spain for the time it took between drinks and food to arrive.I'd ordered Calamari which would've been delicious had it not been cold and the tepid garlic Chorizo and Prawn lacked any real garlic punch. I had to ask what had happened to our cocktails after last orders had been called and although it'd been made was sat waiting for the waitress to collect it. A real shame, my first experience of Seven At Brixton and the market place left me disappointed. The only saving grace was my companion was awesome - if you're planning to eat here take a really good friend.
