We actually had our fish and chips delivered by this branch of Seniors Fish & Chips and were very disappointed by the chips. A couple of weeks ago, Seniors sent out an email shot to its customers explaining that they were now using a different variety of potato which would mean that, in future, the chips would be pale in colour but would be equal to those that customers would previously have experienced.. it is true that the chips were indeed very pale, but they were also limp and flabby and not particularly hot. The fish that we ordered - haddock for me and cod for my husband - were absolutely fine, but the chips were a total let down and we are not inclined to order them again, which means, of course, that we won’t be ordering any fish either. This is a pity because we have enjoyed both eating in and receiving home deliveries from Seniors for around 20 years, but we will be looking elsewhere in the future for our fish and chip fix.

I can’t work out what was different about the fish and chips I had at this branch. I just didn’t think they were up to the usual standards of Seniors. Not cheap and tried this branch twice now out of convenience so won’t be going again.

So expensive. They're taking the p*ss. Also they don't fully cook the chips cause they're trying to churn out as many orders as possible. Dont waste your money.

Had the Saturday Saver deal and it was excellent. Fish cooked to perfection and very large portion. Definitely recommend

Had a really delicious small fish meal delivered today. It came with plenty of chips, a large tubs of peas and a soft drink. The batter was crispy and delicious and the chips golden. It was more than enough, excellent value. It was delivered right on time and piping hot. Top service, great product!,

It some of the characteristics of an old chip shop, as we used to have in abundance in Oldham, where I was born. Now they are like hen's teeth or rocking horse poo. Now they treat you like a "revenue source" and not a customer. This one is different. One feels welcome. A restricted menu, no kebabs and other delicacies of the modern age. Beautiful haddock cooked to order. Informed one old geezer [=me] who ahs limited appetite, and Down son who can trough for England as to good chip amount. OK, I was in a hurry one night, piss-wet through, thanks to wonderful Blackpool weather, and they missed the mushy peas. No big deal. The menu seems to imply two sizes of curry sauce etc, but only one large size was given to us, on three visits. No probs, they were consumed. Like all chip shops, it is not a cheap meal - and I can remember, as a choirboy, on way home from practice, on Tuesday evening, calling in local COKE fired chippy! It appeared in a film! Small chips was 2p; that's old money with 240 to pound. Now, well inflation is a phenomenon that even the greatest of economists cannot control. Now we have a wages spiral.... in hospitals, on railways,,,,,,At 74 I am not rite amused!!!!

Enjoyed fish, chips, curry and peas, fast efficient service and good value. Enjoyed this meal. Good quality and hot fish cooked to order and crispy batter.

Like most people I'm more likely to post a complaint rather than praise, so it's only fair that I review tonight's delivery. It was brilliant! My large cod had the largest, flakiest, flakes of fish in a beautifully crisp batter; the chips were brown and crispy (a rarity these days); everything was hot, and delivery was swift. What more could you ask for? It's easy to dismiss a chippy as fast food but when it's as good as this there's not really a better meal.

Seniors is my local chippy of choice and their counter and delivery service is brilliant (they even delivery wine). I'm not sure if it's a change of ingredient, technique, or I've just been unlucky but recently the chips have been ridiculously undercooked (fish and sides delicious as always). They're not so much a crispy golden-brown, but more of a soggy off-white. Please get it sorted, I'm not sure how much more fish, chips, peas and curry (but not eating the chips) I can take.

The quality of the raw materials is fine it is just the cooking skills that vary.Previous cook who moved to Staining 2 years ago was top class.Too much oil residue makes batter soggy

Went with my partner to grab something for tea, however I left with nothing. Far too much cross contamination for me to risk with my allergy. Tongs for sausages left on top of spatula used to pick up fish. Fish touching the sausage in the holding area. Unfortunately with this lack of care I doubt I'll ever be back

My husband went for our usual Friday night chippy meal. What a disappointment . The fish was awful. The batter was soggy , great and undercooked. The chips were practically burn't. He said there was two different people cooking and serving today which might account for it. Usually we have a good meal.

Terrible service,asked for haddock and got cod,ordered my fish when I came in and other people seem to have got mine,should have gone to the middle chippy like I usually do, never again, more interested in cafe

We have been going to Seniors since it first opened. Good at the beginning but slowly deteriorating. Last week the chips were awful . Probably the worst we have had. Will think twice about going again.

Been here quite a few times now, all food is cooked to order, and is so tasty the fish was just battered to our liking the chips lovely and golden and fluffy in the middle and mushy peas are perfect. All served by very pleasant staff. If you have never been please do try i don't think you will be disapointed

We couldn't get into our usual sitting in place for fish and chips in the area because it was too busy with the fireworks on, so went to Seniors instead. Great chips and the best tasting fish served by a lovely girl. Our meal was lovely and a very reasonable price. We now have a new favourite place ! The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because when we went to pay, they refused our Scottish notes and said they were not legal tender !! Their card machine was not working so we had to get money from a machine outside. A bit inconvenient and rather humiliating to be made feel you are trying to pay your bill with play money (never had that before when we come down to Blackpool). If we visit again we need to make sure we bring ENGLISH money !!!

We love Seniors. When we get off the train, it’s the first place we head to. Huge portions of scampi and cod. Always fresh and crisp. My kids think they have the best scampi in the world.

We ordered take-away 2 med fish and chips 1 carton mushy peas two bread cakes nearly £17 a little on the expensive side to say they were awful the fish was not cooked properly the chips not good the mushy peas were not the best but better than the rest of our order. it was a Friday night and the food was being prepared fresh or at least the fish was the chips were soggy, lots of young staff on so we just thought a one off we have heard how good they are so we tried again and this time so bad I just binned them. I dont mind paying for something that I enjoy but what a waste of good money if you dont. Dont think we will try a third time due to our disappointment both times.

Can't fault the waitress, she was great and smiley. However, the hake was over-battered and overcooked. It was not the freshest either. What a shame - used to enjoy this place and left a good review a while back.

There are several chippies in the area but I think this one is the best for all round value for money. Some chippies have good fish but soggy chips, others the opposite. Seniors however serves lovely fish (pretty decent sized as well) and good chips. Service is friendly and efficient even when very busy. Not been in the dining area but there are always people in so presume it's good. Has good meal deal offers on menu. Some reviewers say it's expensive but you get what you pay for - if you want the best sometimes you need to pay that little bit more.

Although not a regular visitor I can honestly say this is the best chippy in the area for the quality of fish and general portion sizes. Staff are efficient and polite and service is quick. Tried the halibut on our last take out and it was well worth the extra expense. Would definitely recommend.

If you want the best chippy in the area you go middle chippy.

Went without a reservation, group of 4 adults. Parked directly outside in the free car park. The Diner area is via the main entrance for take-away service. There is a limited amount of seating available but it was clean and tidy. Menu is typical of a fish and chip shop with 'meal deals' available. The staff were attentive and polite. The fish was very good, very white and tasty. Toilets available onsite for diner customers. Overall a good experience.

Great traditional fish and chip shop where you can sit in and enjoy. Staff friendly and spicy curry lovely.

Go to this chippy quite a lot. The staff could be more friendly, the food is generally very nice though. The prices are more expensive than most chip shops. I got a chip barm, the other day, noticed on the receipt they charged for a medium chips & barmcake separate. I'd of been better off ordering separately too, would of got twice as many chips!

5 of us had fish and chips, 5 fish and 3 large chips. All fish demolished but almost a full portion of chips left as we could not finish. Expect a small delay as was cooked fresh, order taken as we entered. On the whole good quality at a fair price. Parkingvavailable on a multi use carpark. Will use again.

We expected the quality to be the same as at their other chip shops. Sadly this wasn’t the case. The fish and chips were extremely greasy and the milk shakes were disappointing too. I’d avoid here. Try the pizza place across the road instead.

we had been out for the day..so fish and chips was the easy answer for tea..seniors is very close to home..we decided takeaway.there is an area to eat inside..the food was the same great quality..all cooked as you wait, the chips nice and dry the fish very tasty,nice mushy peas...parking is ok, outside enterance.great quality at a good price.

As a teenager I remember having chips and gravy as a tasty cheap snack. We usually eat healthily but decided to have a nostalgia trip and hubby and I went for chips and gravy from the seniors chippy in Bispham.

Parents are regulars and took me to this traditional fish not chip shop, food was tasty freshly cooked. They stayed on little later without complaint, staff were very friendly. It was nice to have a glass of rose also. Very good, better than London chippies for sure. Generous fish well cooked fish.

We had a variety of meals and different drinks. I had fish with peas and bread and it was among the better fish I have had locally. The service was very good, no complaints.

Tuvimos 5 cod y dos eglefino. Además de patatas fritas blandas guisantes. . El pescado estaba como. La norma muy agradable. . Las patatas fritas, pero una verdadera decepción. recocido en la medida de algunas muy marrón oscuro y duro. . . Podría haber sido un día patatas fritas. Pero teníamos familiares, y era de la tercera edad. alabanza . Lamentablemente decepcionante.

Took some friends here it was good the staff a bit none helpful the seating area is very small the food very nice and hot..Only one thing could do with more tea to drink very small cup

I visited here on holiday with my family last week. My husband went in and asked if they had a takeaway menu and the reply was" No." Later, I went in to order a takeaway and after about 5 minutes of just standing there being ignored, the girl behind the counter served me. All the staff behind the counter looked as if they couldn't be bothered being there. Food was quite nice but will not be coming back. Improve your customer service.

Senior's Bispham is one of favourite restaurants and out latest visit lived up to expectations. Rebecca runs a very tidy, efficient service with nice friendly staff and very good food. The fish is moist and very fresh, cooked in a light crisp batter, and chips and peas are really good too. Thoroughly enjoyable.

My chippy of choice !! Fresh fish fried in minutes , not greasy ,, delicious !! Best chippy around , if we want to eat in we usually go to marsh mill but the Xpress does have seating and there's always people in there ! Clean , well organised and great service

Having ordered large cod and chips because I am a big eater I wasn't disappointed wi the portion I received. Freshly cooked when ordered with minimal waiting time. Give seniors a try if in the area.

asked for chicken and mushroom pie chips beans and gravy .............got chicken pie { which was over cooked ......peas {which were undercooked and hard } chips that wasnt up to scratch and the tiniest bit of gravy .........and was charged £5.05 for this very poor meal whoever said seniors were one of the top 3 got it wrong ......on quality in extortinate prices maybe ..wont be eating there again ad i live local

If you're in a rush, but want good quality fish n chips, this is the place if you're in the area. Lovely fresh fish beautifully cooked (NOT overdone) with a nice, crisp and light batter. If you're not in a rush, that's fine too!

We enjoyed a splendid small meal deal lunch with lovely light, crisp batter on the fish, very nice chips & peas and quick, friendly service. If you're hungry near Bispham, this is a great place to eat.

Faultless service & food quality. The staff could be a little more friendly but I suppose the young age of the service people has all to do with that. The prices are a little steep for a takeaway.

Just collect a small haddock and medium cod plus medium portion of chips. For small read minute and for medium read tiny!!! At a cost of £8.65,, sorry Seniors we won't be back!!!!

I live locally and normally only get takeaway for this chippy but I have had a few meals in the cafe in recent weeks and really could'nt fault either the food or service. It is always lovely and clean, the service is fast, pleasant and friendly and the food is very good. The fish is very fresh with nice crispy batter but not too much of it and the steak puddings are lovely - big chunks of real steak in lovely gravy. The coffee is worth a mention too. A lovely blend and always piping hot. The dining room is only small and quite basically furnished but always spotless, as are the toilets, and the warm welcome compensates for any lack of atmosphere.Great value!

This Chipshop can be really good and the food quality is excellent, unfortunately the fish portions are ridiculously small. This is definitely not the first time the fish has been the size of a Borrowers shoe!!!! I spend £15 here every Friday and unfortunately this was my very last visit. I have taken food back before and complained about portion size and they sometimes give me Cod when I ordered Haddock, but it hasn't seemed to work so good luck for the future Seniors....The picture is of a LARGE Haddock by the way!!!!!!!

Popped into seniors just the other week and got served by a young lady called Shannon she was very polite and welcoming, she was very fast at getting our order done we were in there for only a matter of minutes the service was so quick. Me and my daughter enjoyed our jumbo and chips and gravy's the only bad thing I'd have to say about Seniors is the pricing it cost me £7.90 for jumbo and chips and gravy x2 but all in all I will definitely be visiting Seniors again. Highly recommend.

first time visit to this chippy. The chips were good but small portion considering it was a large portion. When we got home we found they had not put our pie in the bag so we had to go back. As we had to go back to get it, we got extra portion of chips and no discount for our inconvenience. Disappointing service in my opinion.

I have fallen foul of a number of establishments on the Fylde Coast that offer gluten free fish and chips, who advertise gluten free and pretend they know all about cross contamination. As a Coeliac this is a massive issue, however the staff (Karen) and Manager are fully aware and ensure total seperation of the gluten free products, the meal was absolutely the best I have ever tasted and you can rest assured you will not be disappointed.Fabulous that the gluten free is available every Wednesday!I would like to thank Seniors for taking the time and effort to offer this service, nothing was too much trouble.Thanks Anita

To be honest I was a bit skeptical today, I ordered my fish and was surprised to see a female fish fryer. I was a bit worried that my fish may end up soggy or completely the wrong fish, but to my surprise it was absolutely fantastic!I never learn that I should stop underestimating women. Chips were just as nice and the girls who served me were fantastic, will definitely come back here (:

Chips tonight were covered in grease. Sometimes they get it right but not very often. Fish is also hit and miss too with been so greasy. The fryers need training .

Called in the other day with my girlfriend and my little boy.We decided to eat in and it was the nicest chippy ive had in ages.My lad had chicken nuggets which looked nice and chunky with some chips.I had cheese pie chips and curry and my girlfriend had fish and chips.It all tasted so fresh and not greasy at all.staff were friendly and the place was spotless.would recommend to anyone

Stopped here following recommend from our son who attends the college nearby, cannot complain at all. Spotless inside, service attentive and quick, the food quality was good, portions just enough. The chips are some of the best we have ever tasted, freshly cooked and not scrappy like some chip shops.Will definitely visit again when in area, and have already recommended to others

Went into the Bispham branch yesterday 04/06/2015 for a chip barm-cake and jumbo sausage . Their was only two people in front of me and it took approx ten minutes before I was served . The chips weren't very good and they smothered them in vinegar . The sausage was edible , just . The grand total was an unbelievable £3.60 and I can honestly say that Seniors will never again get a penny from me . The mark up on that must be at least 200% . One other thing , can you please smile when you are taking peoples money . Thank you .It is true , they do use kids . Probably easier to bully . My advice is , don't waste your money on this over priced burly edible food . They are ripping the people and visitor's off in the Fylde

This chippy is average and well over priced. The curry sauce is nothing to shout about. Chicken nuggets are good with a chip butty.

We visit here once or twice a week. This Seniors is definitely the best out of them all. When we do visit the waitress that is normally working (Sasha) will have our drinks ready for us almost as soon as we have stepped through the door. The fish fryer now also knows that we order the same fish every time and is ready in no time. We have no problem with this because it will always be the same. Sasha will come over and double check that we still want the same as last time just in case, and sometimes we have our son/grandson with us. The fish is absolutely beautiful and we ALWAYS order haddock, the chips are also cooked to perfection. We thought it was about time to leave a review as we have never had a bad meal and the customer service is always great. We wish to continue visiting every week. Thanks a lot Seniors!!

Always freshly cooked fish with crisp batter and succulent moist fish. Lots of choices including fish of the day. Car parking. Fast and friendly service. Very clean. Prices are average for Blackpool.We get fish and chips maybe once every 2 months and we always head for Seniors

We remember visiting this rubbish place and we also noticed the manager hitting a female staff member let me tell u pal u wer a lucky man if she had been my daughter I wud demand u sacked then I wud have taken u outside in the street to make an example of u wot we witnessed and wot u called her was terrible this is just arrogant management do not eat at this place do not buy u have been warned the staff wer also arrogant except for the young girl of course the food I crap thornton fisheries lot betr we live next door to ur other seniors thornton it's crap good we go to thornton fisheries for the taste change ur oil seniors and for ur management style get rid of it we will be keeping a eye on this

we ordered 2 large portions of chips, a large gravy and a large fruity curry. to start with the chips were all over the bag as the person who packed them had placed one of the polystyrene trays on its side and they weren't very nice at all and if this is a large portion then i cannot imagine how much is in a small (the larger box that large portions used to come in has been replaced with a smaller tray) the curry sauce was extremely runny, my wife said it was a yellow water consistency with no taste whatsoever. and the price for this £6.70 for basically potatoes and gravy/curry that tasted like it was made from store brand granules my wifes went in the bin practically untouched. the only reason i have given 1 out of 5 is that there is no option for zero, i will never be going there again and i urge you to try elsewhere.

I have now been twice to Seniors Xpress and on both occasions would find it very difficult to find a fault. I am very much a haddock man and it's been a long time since I have tasted better haddock. The chips were well cooked and the mushy peas were, well mushy peas. The fish is cooked fresh and you order it as you go into the shop. This guarantees that the fish is always hot and the batter crispy. Good value.

I visited the Bispham Xpress today.I would hardly cause this an Xpress restaurant as I has there was nothing pre cooked and had to wait a good 10 mins, to add to this my wife wanted a potato and meat pie which was promptly microwaved to reheat, this was like eating limp rubber. What happened to the hot cupboard? We live a two min drive away and when we got home the chips where cold. All in all a very very bad experience.I remember when I was a kid looking forward to a Friday for fish and chips from Seniors (in staining) which was always superb.It am not asking for compensation or vouchers as I will never use any of your chip shops again.For the prices you charge (which is not cheap) maybe you need to look more at the quality side of things rather than quantity!

Had high hopes for this place but disappointed. High prices, small portions. Better quality food in nearby chippies who show how it should be done.

This fish and chips takeaway is the best in Blackpool in my opinion. The place is exceptionally clean and well run by friendly staff. The portions are large, well cooked with nice crispy batter. There is a small room at the back where you can eat in if you so wish.Highly recommended. Just try it!

Firstly I was overcharged & had to point it out to them. I also noticed that the fish cakes were microwaved. I ordered pudding & chips but when I got home I'd been given sausage & chips. Would've eaten them but they were cold. Complete waste of money. Rang to complain & I got a full refund. Wouldn't go again though as others there were being given wrong orders. Very disappointing.

I would give it 4 and a half if could but will explain later. The fish and chips are definatley the best in the area. Ive tried a few so they deserve their reputation for quality fish and chips.The problem with this branch is that they charge for the ketchup which I don't they should in a fish and chips shop as the takeaway prices are the same as eating in at the Thonton branch.The staff in this branch are always friendly and Ive never had a problem/issue with the service. The eating in area is nice and clean.As I know family in the catering business myself, I know that there is a lot of jealousy of seniors hence the negative reviews followed with a suggestion of a better chippy. Unfortunately none of the other restaurants can match the quality of the fish and chips of seniors so instead of trying to vote them down, maybe they should try the food and actually see what they are doing right?

Tasty fish and chips but as others have said the portions are on the small side and it is pretty pricey. Service was great and I have to say I really enjoyed them!

I have visited this chippy a few times and have always thought the prices were a bit much compared to other chippies in the area. Staff are well mannered and understand the meaning of customer service. Although, i personally wouldn't let my child work there as the way the staff get spoken to and treated by who i think is a manager is disgusting. A few weeks ago, i went into seniors and my order was taken by a young polite girl who seemed to get straight to it. I think the manager did not realise i was there or forgot i was because when the young girl was waiting for fish, he hit her on the back of her head (not hard, but still not the point) and then called her a 'b**ch'. The poor girl didn't do anything wrong. Maybe its just me thinking this was totally out of order? I will definitely not be going back there! The meal was lovely, the manager needs to be sacked though, could not let my child work in a place like that.

I had heard lots of good words said about award winning Seniors so thought I'd give it a try. I visited its shop in Bispham, it looked very clean and the fish was cooked fresh. We had one of the Fish and Chip takeaway offers, on a weekday lunchtime, and it's fair to say that it was pretty average. I've had plenty better, and plenty worse, but I wouldn't be in a rush to go back.

We stayed in the Premier Inn just along the road and bought dinner from here a couple of times. Sausage and chips to die for! We'll definitely eat here again should we return to the area.

After hearing praise for Seniors chippy I have been 3 times now, each time ordering a different meal and so far I am yet to be blown away. It is a pretty average chippy to be honest. Certainly not worth the price - get far better food and service at the Squirrel Chippy in Bispham.More than likely won't be going back as there are plenty of better eateries in Blackpool and surrounding area with better food for much better prices.

We had lunch here 16 Feb 13 for the first and last time. The first insult was 25p for a tomato ketchup. "Because they were quiet" a surly young man told us he would bring the food to our table! The cutlery was plastic knives and forks. When we got the food it was presented in a delightful cardboard box. The food was good but everything else was pitiful. Yorkshire Fisheries on Tooping Street in Blackpool beats this place hands down.

Excellent award winning fish & chips, well worth a visit. Four of us ate there & we were all impressed. They also have a seated area in the back where you can eat your take away.If you want a good fish and chip meal, you can't go wrong here.
