Lovely traditional chippy, staff were really friendly and attentive. Food was spot on, chips were lovely and portions were just right.

Very poor portion for what you pay . The owner has a very bad attitude will be staying away from this chippy burnt and old chips over cooked pies so if I was you I would stay well clear

Well thought I would walk across to the chippy for the first time in yonks and had gone to Selwyns in the past and always got an alloof and ignorant reception off the staff back then. There was always a weird atmosphere in this chippy over the years. So I was greeted by a glare off this grey haired middle aged guy as I walked in. An amicable young lass was helpful as I asked if they had spam fritters and she said they did not have any spam. I then asked if they had any specials and the grey haired chap said a sharp 'no' . He went back to stirring his chips. The atmosphere was awful. So I opted for a Holland's meat pie as it was for my husband and I could not think of anything else to take him home. The grey haired guy looked cheesed off and his customer service skills are non existent. The young lass was helpful though. I won't be going back.....

Probably the worst fish and chips I've ever had. The fish was very small, soggy and almost batter-less.

Worst fish, chips and peas we have ever had. The fish was minute, the chips were bland and luke warm and the peas were very salty. If you are hungry don’t bother. We won’t be going back.

Not sure if this place has changed hands, but its definitely gone downhill! Ordered fish & chips and a take out of peas. The fish wouldn't have fed the cat!! ( and I dont have a cat)!! Childs size portion of chips which were warm. I also got a home made steak & ale pie. This meal was to share with my partner. The quality was poor. The quantity was meagre and for a cost of £8.10. Not enough fish to share. Partner had half a pie and enough chips for a butty. Wont be going again.

Great chippy in centre of Lees, fish is fantastic, cooked to order. Take away only. Highly recommended

Had a couple of bad fish a few weeks ago but thought we'd give it another go only because the Chinese chippy across from the grapes was closed. Wish we hadn't bothered, meat and potato pie was dry and hard and had clearly been reheated and not just once, chips were bitty and virtually cold, my fish was freshly made and to be honest it was nice but as in previous comments the size of the fish and general portion sizes are very small. We shan't be returning.

Been going here for a few years, couple of weeks ago popped in for chips n curry (and a jumbo for the dog) got home @ 6 minute drive stone bloody cold, thought it may have been a one off, tried again today, fish n chips and a pot of peas ( jumbo for the dog) absolutely awful, burners on the range obviously not hot enough to cook the flabby battered fish, chips were probably from Saturday reheated disgusting, the pot of peas were tepid, but on the plus side the jumbo sausage was raging hot when I got home and the dog had to wait 30 mins for it to cool down, £7 what a waste and what a damn shame, going to have to be frydays which isn’t brill but at least it’s freshly cooked and hot, DONT BOTHER GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!!

This chippy used to be the best in the area. Good portions and decent produce. I went for the family on Friday evening and I wish I hadn’t bothered! Whoever is now running it has literally cut the fish in half and doesn’t know how to fry chips! People used to queue out of the door, now it’s empty. Surely this should tell them something?!

Last night I fancied fish and chips haven’t been here since November. Really disappointed you only get a small portion of chips and the fish have shrunk too £5:70 was a waste of money avoid !!!

The fish and chips were excellent and served with a smile. The batter was tasty, crispy and delicious. As was the generous portion of chips.

I went again for the second time I thought I'd give it another chance as the last visit was awful as I only live up the road and it is my nearest chippy but yet again it was awful the staff were rude and arrogant the fish was full of grease and mainly burnt batter and the chips were undercooked and bland I spent over 10 pounds for mine and my husband's tea and after one bite we through it in the bin please save your money and avoid this awful place.

Great good good service. Plate pies are superb, and where else can you grt the great Spam Fritters!!!

Great fresh food served here - All fish cooked to order - you just ask when you walk in the door.

Best gravy I've tried and good chips, you don't go into a chippy and expect fresh made everything. It's got a good atmosphere and good service.

Really good clean English chippy, your fish is cooked fresh while you wait, they also make traditional potato scallops, not forgetting Rag Puddings

I was ordering Fish & Chips and Spam Fritters and I was 'tutted' at when I didn't want the fish or Fritters that were in the warmer and I wanted fresh ones making!! Then, when I went outside to make a phone call, they wrapped my fritters and I noticed they had put an old one from the warmer in when I got home, one fresh and one scabby one.......... rubbish service, plus the chips are horrible anyway!! i never ever went again and I lived 200 yards away......... shocking attitude and shocking food!
