One of the best fish and chips we have had in a while. Classic chipper chips with a bit of extra crunch. Real crispy batter with delicate fish. Good portions. Nice staff. Been going once a week for the last month for movie night and only the films have disappointed

Verily, mine heart was filled with deep dismay - nay, ‘‘twas more than that, mere understatement - forsooth, mine portion of chips arrived grievously amiss! Overcooked and firm as rock, a mighty jaw of equine strength was required to partake of such fare

After being told by friends and locals that it was good,last week I was passing by and thought to myself" lets give it a go". First thing (we are in lockdown ,I understand) but was that table across the doorway necessary to prevent customers inside? I struggled when paying by card, could not reach!!! The young lady that takes your order probably has forgotten where Mr.Smile lives no greeting just "what would you like?". Ohh, haddock and large chips £10.45>>>> I waited 10 minutes outside , they were busy preparing takaways so I thought ohh its popular so has to be good. Mrs. "Smile" called me and AGAIN struggled to reach the plastic bag with my order. I felt like rubberman!!! NOW lets talk about the content,Eight minutes into my journey home and finally sat at the table,I notice a teaspoon of grease¬oily that leaked from the polysterene carton containing the fish. Opened the chips carton and ,for me, thats not a large portion ,try the large chips in Hertford(Caseys):massive portion. Anyway, tastewise nothing major,just chips slightly too soft inside. Haddock~~the batter at the bottom was completely soaked in that grease and went soggy,on thre other hand,I have to say the batter on top was crispy and light but always too oily .The fish was ok but not exciting. When you spend over a tenner for fish n chips it has to be better therefore for me too much.

From living in a big city and used to inflated prices, this chip shop is extortionate. If it opened more regularly, then it might be able to offer better prices.

Fresh fish, crispy batter, friendly and helpful staff, best chips ever. Area to sit down too! Cannot recommend enough!

We ordered fish and when we got home the fish was all brown. Ok the fish mite had got a tan but I doesn’t ask for tamed fish!

Particularly nice shop, friendly staff, but a little bit pricey for a village takeaway, and, they don't do spam fritters, poor show!

I visited today for the first time with my children, had such a nice lunch, the kids loved it, got a lovely little lunch box with a toy which kept them amused. The decor is very modern and sleek, food was fantastic and the owner was so welcoming felt like i had known him for years. Im now a new regular x

A lovely bit of food from here, the prices are sensible but they close at 9 so food runs short close to this time. Their half a chicken is also great

Been here at least half a dozen times now. Not had a bad meal yet. Fish is lightly battered (go large - it’s the size of moby dick’s brother) and not greasy and the chips are always nicely cooked too. Light, fluffy and not dripping in oil. It’s a little more expensive than most chippies but as the saying goes ‘you gets what you pays for’ !!! Delicious !!!!

I’ve been here a few times now and each and every time, it has been delicious. The large cod is the size of a small whale, the batter is thin and the chips are always light and crispy. I’m struggling to think of a better fish and chip meal I’ve ever had.

I really like the fish and chips here. The chips are always crispy, and a varied in shape and size - which means there are always a good amount of small crispy bits... i really like this but might not be everyone's preference.

Driving past going somewhere else I noticed it on my return I decided to give it a try. I made a excellent choice, freshly cooked fish and very good chips both large portions satisfied my hunger pangs. Friendly staff. Would recommend it to anyone.

I really like the fish and chips here, they have a large selection of food to choose from. The children’s meals are fantastic and grate value for money having said that since the refurbishment the prices have gone up a little but still lovely food and worth a visit

Great chip shop stopped on the off chance. Great chips and the pies are nice and hot well worth a visit if your in the area.

My Wife visited Stanstead Abbots, noticed Seaways fish & chip shop, people were queuing, a good sign. We’ve tried Chippies in Ware & Buntingford, with the exception of mobile CHIPPIE on Fridays, they have all been disappointing.

One of the nicest chip shops in this area.clean good service. Recommend it.good selection.even better if you are first through the door.

Visited seaways on a weekday evening. The chips were ok fish was expensive for what it was small portions. We also had sausage in batter which just about warm. The takeaway was very quiet we were the only customers. The couple of tables were greasy and would need a good clean if you were to eat in which surprised me as it was quiet and would only take 2 minutes to have a quick clean up. All in all it's ok for something quick and convenient. If you have a little more time visit Andrews in Ware for what think a nicer reasonably priced freshly cooked meal.

Visited here for first time last night , quite busy place for early on a Thursday evening chips were best I had in a long while , reasonable pricing and good choice on menu, will definitely return when passing.

Not the best fish and chips the chips are ok but had much better before. On the good side they have a nice curry source and lovely staff!!

The chips were soggy and very greasy and the savaloy wich was out of water but very mushy not like normal when they are crispy and snap no impressed at all

We chose to eat in. We each had fish and chips and they were quite appetising but they could have been better. Each fish was precooked from the hot cabinet and the chips, which were rather bitty and a little less hot than they should have been, had , we suspect been standing for some time before being served. We wondered how they would have tasted straight from the fryer. Sadly there were many fish in the hot cabinet and only a trickle of customers.

This is my local chippie. I have a take away from here most weeks. The fish and chips is reliably good and the staff unfailingly pleasant. This is primarily a take away but there are a couple of tables and people do eat in. If you are looking for a burger, kebab or similar this is not the place for you. Apart from fish you will only be able to buy what might be called traditional chippie alternatives such as pie or sausage. They do kids meals and a nice range of soft drinks.

We don't have fish and chips often, but when we do its from here - great that we can phone through the order, have it freshly cooked, and pop in to pick up.

Bought some chips on a Saturday night. They were soggy, greasy and just disgusting. Also found a piece of white fluff in them. Will not be returning.

Our first time at this 'chippy', from the moment we entered we were impressed, it was stylish and clean. The service was courteous and efficient and the fish and chips freshly cooked and absolutely delicious.

I have recently been coming to Seaways and keep returning after a recommendation from a friend.

Been coming here since they opened and have always had a good friendly service from all the staff and can't complain , food is good to and well priced

The food is decent but slightly expensive. The shop itself is quite nice. As for the service however, I am disgusted. The woman who served me was extremely rude and ignorant and completely put me off this place, I will most likely never come here again. To make it worse I saw her being friendly to other customers which completely singled me out.

The quality of this take away is second to none - so glad you set up in the village

Good hot tasty fish, chips, chicken, ribs and all the regular chippy foods. Large portions, reasonably priced.

Come here quite often to buy fish and chips for dinner.. great food.. great staff.. very welcoming..

We stayed at the marina in roydon this weekend, were recommended this place by staff at the marina. We had 3 portions of cod and chips and a pukka pie, £22 quid. Not being from around here that might be the going rate but seemed steep for nothing special really. The staff also looked miserable as sin.

I often pop in here when its too late to cook but its really only ever due to convenience. There's nothing wrong with it as such but similarly nothing to rave about either.

Love our new fish and chip shop. About time we had a proper one in the village. Staff always friendly. The portions are a nice size one large chips did 3 of us. Fish cooked perfect and takes delicious. Perfect Friday night tea x

Always had good food and good friendly service, will return in future, restaurant is clean and tidy , can sit in and eat as tables provided

Really good for fish and chips. Portions, however, we find far too large and, therefore, now get one piece of fish and one portion of chips between up. Prices are quite high and would prefer smaller portions at a lower price.

Finally managed to visit and can say that the chips were OK and a fair sized portion . The premises was very clean and staff were in. In all an average chip shop.

Tried this chippie when they first opened and thought it was pretty good. However, the last couple of visits have produced very poor results. Went this week and took home tasteless fish and pale undercooked luke warm chips which ended up in the bin. Ended up wondering why I bothered. Will not be going back which is disappointing as I live in the village. Oh well, back to car trips to Fred's in Ware again. Such a shame as they started out so well.

Decent fish and chips, staff are really friendly. Good size portion, not huge but nicely satisfied size. They do offer bigger sizes than we buy as we go for the standard sizes but we have never felt short changed on quality or quantity.

A very high quality chippie! expect a (short) queue on a Friday night but its well worth waiting for!

Having used seaways fish and chip shop in cheshunt for years, I was keen to try their latest shop in Stanstead Abbots.

Popped in for a takeaway as a treat. Had heard a lot about how good it was and thought I'd try it. Shop not overly busy and got served quickly. Found staff curt and a bit rude, not interested in what they were doing. Found myself standing and waiting to pay whilst my food was getting cold because another staff member jumped in and served someone else on the till who came in after me! Food very average and I didn't like it. Batter was nicely thin but tasted so bland. Fish flavourless and chips greasy.

Reasonably priced chippy with a good choice of fish, pies, sausages etc. Fast efficient service with the best mushy peas for miles!

Have used their shop in cheshunt for many years a d was delighted when we found out they were coming to Stanstead Abbotts

We get a take-away from here once a week. Never disappoints!. Lovely fish. Quirky, friendly staff. Can't recommend it enough!

I have been going to Seaways since it opened and have never had any reason to complain about the food or the service. The fish has always been perfectly cooked for me and the chips delicious, staff are friendly and service is quick without fuss.

Have been getting our fish and chips from here every Friday night for the last four weeks . Beautiful fish and chips . Will be back again Friday !!

This is the best fish and chips that I have had for years. The fish was freshly cooked and the chips were perfect. This meal was so good that I actually phoned to complement them.

Relaxed friendly atmosphere, with great service. Not bad value and excellent quality fish. We will be back!

Seaways have recently taken over the former Chinese Fish Bar in Stanstead Abbotts high street. I had the pleasure of visiting early on a Saturday evening and was really impressed with the freshness of the fish. The shop was busy, but there was adequate staff to keep things moving. I was soon in possession of some of the best fish & chips that I have had in many a good year.
