Seawave Traditional Fish & Chips in Isle of Anglesey

We ordered two fish a large chips & 2 mushy peas, well what a disappointment! Expensive for one thing, the fish itself was overdone, but the batter was soggy! How that can be I don’t know! Chips are chips not the best or worse! The mushy peas were dreadful! It was like a ton of sugar had been dropped in them! Finally the attitude of some of the staff left a lot to be desired! Will I go back - Never!!

Very nice fish and chips. No hesitation in recommending. We usually take our meal down to the coast and enjoy the view whilst eating.

Was so disappointed. We live on Anglesey and have struggled to find a Fish and Chip shop that is consistently GOOD. We thought we had when we visited the Seawave but the last visit was diabolical! The fish was greasy and the batter uncooked in parts and the chips….. what can I say ….. cold….anaemia …. and under cooked! If anyone knows of a fantastic fish and chip on Anglesey PLEASE LET US KNOW

Chips come in a generous portion at a good price, but undercooked and lukewarm. If you like your chips crispy and browned, this isn’t the place for you. Also comes with unnecessary carton waste as well as the paper wrapping.

Quick and efficient service, well staffed for a busy time. accommodated the different salt and vinegar requests!! Delicious fish in great batter with classic chip shop chips. Mushy peas were also enjoyed.

Needed quick eats one night and the food here was fresh, lovely and served quickly. Very reasonably priced too.

Very fast service, efficiently checked my allergy enquiries with no fuss. Ordered cod and chips, which was excellent, best fish we have had from fish and chip for ages. Fish cakes and chips exactly as it should be. Will definitely return. The staff were very friendly although we were quite late on a Sunday evening they were still busy, I can see why. Served by a young girl who was very helpful and lovely.

We always use here when in the region. The fish and chips fresh ,tasty and hot really good value for money too. The two young ladies who served me went out of their way to a accomodate and very friendly. I don't understand why the average rating is 3.5

A surprising lack of takeaway outlets in the area led us to this little place. The staff were efficient and really friendly. We had the Haddock and the children's meals. The large chips were perfect and just the right amount for four of us. If you take a 5 minute walk down to the slipway next to Dylan's, you can have your takeaway sitting on the surprisingly comfortable seaweed laden rocks. Same view (if not better) as the restaurant for a fraction of the price! This was a really memorable last evening of our holiday and the food from here was great.

Ate here as we were struggling to find any restaurants not fully booked in the area. We had pie and chips and fish and chips with curry sauce. Great food, it was all hot, the chips were crispy and the fish was great with crisp batter, we were very pleasantly surprised given some of the reviews. A special mention for the curry sauce that was delicious!

Went here as a last resort because all the restaurants in Menai Bridge were fully booked. Nice chips and curry sauce, but the batter on my husbands fish was terrible, all soggy and tasteless. Wouldn't return.

We had been to visit it the nearby PLAS CADNANT HIDDEN GARDENS and wanting some lunch we stopped here on way back we saw it earlier. Dropped other half off he went to the shop it was around 1-30pm whilst i found somewhere to park. He wasn't long they had only got one fish left which i had with chips and he had sausage. We thought eating them in carpark was bit boring so we walked short distance from shop o sea front and enjoyed them nice fish good size and tasty also the chips. One bugbear was hubby picked up a couple of forks which were plastic

We arrived at the chip shop and they had a long Q, however we were all served very quickly. All safe and food and staff great

This shop operates in a competitive environment and the food and service are very good. However I would zipper the owner to stop serving the food in plastic and polystyrene this is especially important in a town by the seaside. We shall not rewriter until the owner lives up to everyone's environmental concerns.

Called in for fish and chips early in the evening, haddock was freshly cooked and chips a generous portion. We both enjoyed our meal, would recommend

Came here last week came all the way home and they had forgot items off the oder. Just been there again placed the order over the phone for collection and went over the order twice to make sure they had the order right. I asked the woman to read back the order- spot on! Get home guess what items missing again . I asked to speak to the manager so that i could complain and was told that i hadn't ordered chicken and chips, but the chips were there but no chicken????? No sorry, no apology for an inconvenience caused !!! Wont be going there again, RUDE!!!!

It normally more expensive tthan the avarage chippy but the quality is there. I highly recommend It.

Called in on the way home from work. Staff were polite and courteous. they are behind Perspex shielding. Plenty of sign's to adhere to social distancing. Service was quick and the food was freshly cooked. I will call again soon.

3 out of the 4 recent visits to this establishment have left me feeling underwhelmed due to the shoddy customer service. On two of the occasions the staff we're showcasing an unsubtle display of sour bickering with eachother in front of a busy counter. They don't seem asif they want to be there one bit. Another occassion I had to repeat myself numerous times as she kept mumbling under her breath - she was undeniably in a foul mood..she would reply with an attitude when I kept asking her to repeat what she'd said. I don't think you'd get a smile even if you'd told her she's won the lottery. I don't want to paint all the staff with the same brush as my last visit was fine but I suggest the particular member of staff should look to work somewhere else, life's too short to be that miserable especially when providing a customer service. Only reason I'm not giving this place a rating of 1 is because the food is quite nice and it's reasonably priced. Also because I had a service with a smile off the last lady who served me here.

Quick service at a great Chip shop in the heart of Menai village. Always piping hot and delicious food. Fish is an absolute must!!

We are staying in Beaumaris but the only chippy here has bad reviews and no parking so we drove for 10 mins to this one. Served immediately. Lovely chips very fresh. No puddings or gravy like we have in Cheshire and the peas were a weird colour but still tasty. The pie, fish and curry sauce were all delicious. Definitely recommended.

Despite the mixed reviews we decided to give Seawave fish and chips a try. On balance the fish was fine but the chops were very stodgy and we ended up leaving most of them.

Doesn’t look much from the outside (or the inside) but the fish is excellent. The best I have tasted in a long time. Melts in the mouth. Take them to Menai Bridge and there is nothing like it. Excellent

Ordered 2 portions of fish and chips just over a week ago. The portions were stingy,the fish was grim,the batter was soggy and had stuck to the grease proof,so when you peeled the paper off the batter came with it!Not good at all,really bad value for money as it wasn't cheap either.I am a chef of more than 20 years and love good fish and chips,this however was far from good.Jaaps fish and chips on the other hand in West end Colwyn Bay is sublime.

Lovely fresh fish and chips cooked to order. Well worth a try. We called in on a Sunday evening for something quick to eat, and we weren't disappointed. The chips are proper homemade cooked chips and the fish and sausages cooked fresh.

To all those travellers wishing to explore the Isle of Anglesey around its coastline and in need of a traditional takeaway of Fish & Chips. You would not be disappointed in calling at the "Seawave" traditional fish & Chip bar in the village of Menai Bridge approx 0.4 mile along the A545 from the A5 Bridge crossing from Bangor.On this first of many visits I can only offer a review on their fish. It had to be one of the most wholesome servings of fresh cod I've come across,  cooked in a setting with such high standards of hygiene, and when considering the size of the portion also excellent value for money. Well done. An easy recommendation to begin your adventures on Anglesey.

This is the best chip shop within a 10 mile radius of me. The fish is always really fresh and generous size. Chips are excellent.

How many times you hear " thats a good chippy " to find soggy batter and tasteless chips ? Visited yesterday 1st time, Could not fault it ! WELL DONE SEAWAVE EXCELLENT reasonably priced too and can eat in a bonus !!!

Nice tasty tea time treat while on holiday. Fish chips and peas all round, everyone had a fully belly afterwards.

Delicious Fish. Big hot and fresh. Not enough chips. Quick. Never had to wait. Friendly staff! Easy parking. Best in area. Worth coming from Bangor even for such quality. I’ve told them not enough chips.

Just that really,a lovely,long strand of hair in my food.Not surprising really as I copped the older lady scratching her head twice whilst I was on way out.Shame the hygiene isn’t up to ‘scratch ‘..(scuse the pun).🤨

The fish and chips were good value and tasty. The service is always fine. However, a seaside fish and cchips shop should be using recyclable containers. Plastic forks, plastic-type trays: they often end up in the sea or landfill. Come on Seawave, you can afford it and need to ditch the plastic and go recyclable.

Best in area. Lovely big fish in good batter. Chips a little small. Definitely my favourite in 25 miles. I drive 7miles to get there and it’s always worth it.

Good fish and chips. Wife and children enjoyed there's and I enjoyed mine. A little expensive but it's 2018!

Visited last week, myself , hubby daughter and geandkids, sat in , very fast service , beautiful food , we had fish chips , mushy peas & grandson gravy which he said was amazing. Highly recommend , staff really pleasant as well ;)

The best fish and chips that I've had in a long time. Very clean, very nice staff and good service. Good size portions and lovely fresh tasting fish.

We ordered fish&chips.; The portion was big but the food tasted plain and boring. The fries were soggy too. Not recommended if you have any other choices.

Fish and chips were decent portion, fish perhaps a little overcooked for my taste but the batter was nice and crispy and chips were reasonable. The place was busy so generally a good sign.

Visited yesterday with 2 work colleagues and we wanted to eat in. I can't fault the staff or the food, but my meal alone was £8:85, we were all horrified to have our meals served in a polystyrene tray, a plastic knife and fork and tea in a paper cup! Simply not good enough, sorry.

Visited 12/04 early evening, greeted by two girls who just laughed and whispered together, No smile , the food was slapped on a tray and very small portions, one of the girls was scratching her head in full view of customers, a couple saw this and decided to leave(good choice !) I should of followed ... No please , No thank you ... Shame really as this used to be a great chippie but the staff and portion size really lets it down ... way overpriced for what you get , and rude staff

Nice fish and chips, friendly staff, but all on polystyrene trays with plastic forks. Such a shame as near the beautiful Menai Strait.

Have been here a few times and the freshness of the fish and chips is always top class. Will definitely visit again - good quality and good prices.

Went 25th, good quality fish and chips and for a family of four came to £21.75 i.e. Small portions but more than enough.

Always used to love this chippy but tonight was disappointing. Hoping it’s a one off.

This was recommended by a web site. As we were very hungry. And were staying in Menai. But when we got our fish and chips we took them back to the apartment. Oh my god. Hardly any chips. The peas tasted of something indescribable. And the fish was horrific. Batter burnt tasting and no fish inside. Will never ever go there again. Disgusting!!!

Visited here last week, they were just about to close but still served us. Absolutely lovely chips, big portions and reasonable prices. Will be visiting again soon when we will be in the area.

Staying nearby and fancied some chips. Went round the corner to Seawave. Large portion ordered. Chips were lovely with plenty of salt and vinegar. Seemed pricey though but don't have a frame of reference for what a reasonable charge locally.

No trip to Menai bridge is complete without a visit to seawave fish and chips. It is often the only reason i will attend practicals in Menai bridge for the opportunity to get my lunch at this wonderful place. The large battered sausage and chips is my favorite providing a quality meal.The vibrancy of the food evokes feeling of unprecedented feelings of joy from inner soul.

Called in on a Sunday evening for sausage chips and curry sauce. By the time I arrived home just four minutes later the sausage and chips had to go into the microwave because they were too cold to eat, yet the curry sauce was perfectly hot. The sausage was very basic and a little too well done for my liking, but the chips were terrible, I suspect they had been kept warm in the range for quite some time. The price was significantly higher than other similar chip shops in the area.The staff member who served me was welcoming, efficient and polite, sadly though due to the very poor quality of food I shall not be returning.

Not had a quality fish and chips like it in any other chippy in Anglesey. Yes a little bit expensive but you pay for quality I suppose.

The long queues testify to the standard here. Very occasionally the batter lacks crispiness but it has excellent fish, the chips are good and there is a variety of options. The vegi burger is good but there will be a wait of around ten minutes. You can see that everything is clean and staff are helpful and obliging.

This is a traditional small fish and chip restaurant in Menai Bridge's busy main street. There is limited parking outside but there is a pay car park around the corner. There is limited seating as most customers buy food to take out. This is a restaurant which is popular with locals and visitors alike and can be busy at certain times, for example , Saturday night. Almost invariably the fish is of very good quality. Mushy peas are popular as well. Chips are pretty ordinary. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. You might have to wait for a fresh batch of chips or fish and the food is usually freshly cooked. The restaurant does provide child meals, vegeburgers and scallops and there is sometimes a wait for these.

Purchased fish and chips and we were disappointed. The chips were small, just bits of potato rather than decent size chips and not very tasty, the fish itself was okay but the batter disintegrated leaving a mushy layer between the fish and the chips not very appetising. Maybe we went on the wrong night but have eaten better.

came in to get chips for our tea and there was a massive que anyways beside one of the staff who messed up nearly all the orders who were Infront of me. Took about 20 minutes before I actually could order and then when I eventually ordered the food she got the amount wrong. Food was poor quality and won't bother returning

Nice Fish 'real cod' but the chips were less than ok been made for quite a while I think but give them ago, it might just have been my 'timing'!

The staff in here are always friendly and although we are moving away soon we have enjoyed 5 years of 'chippy teas' here. Thank you Seawave!

The chips were stone cold and were cut so small they were sharp and cutting our mouths- not edible. Sausages were over cooked abs they failed to give us our full order

Found the seawave on a day visit to Menai, decided to try their fish and chips, and they were delicious. Would definitely recommend.

Friday night in a chippy can often be a bit hit and miss, but glad to say Seawave didn't disappoint. Nice bit of fish, good chips and ok mush peas. What more do you want?

Decided on steak pie chips and gravy.Good decision! best pie iv had from a chippy in a long time. One colleague had the same he was well impressed . Other colleagues had the fish they were also well pleased with their choice.

visited this chippie the other evening for tea .The take away side.Ordered 2 curry and chips the quality of the food was to say the least very disappointing.The chips were cold tasteless and the curry was the same .Portion size small which was ablessing in this case As a local I could not recommend this chippie

turned up at about 8 pm on a Wednesday evening looked at the limited menu ..can i have a steak pi ...no got none .. OK 2 sausage and chips twice one with gravy please .took my money before she had served and wrapped the meals . proceeded to put one sausage on each potion of chips £ 1.80 small chips scandalous price . i pointed out i wanted 2 sausages with each of the the chips as i had said . she looked at me like i had two heads " you'll have to pay for two more than " was the short sharp reply , i paid again got the meal and left ...soggy chips and deep fried over cooked sausages . i do not recommend you stop here to eat i think they rely on chippies being few and far between on anglesey

Consistently good excellent fish and chips, be careful when asking for salt you may get more than you bargained for.Staff are fine and seem to be more interested in the food than gossiping with customers. Granted not the cheapest in the area but portion size and quality more than make up for the difference in price.

We liked this chippy, nice frindly staff and the food was freshly cooked..fish was really lovely... But don't be careful with how much salt is shaken!

Such lovely staff and loads of menu choices - I enjoy it so much that I just ask for a random item from the menu and have not been sad yet. Last week it was a sausage.

We had pies as a change from fish - cheese & onion and Chicken & mushroom - and both were very good, with nicely cooked non-greasy chips and baked beans. Good quick service. This made a yummy tea on our way back from a bracing windy walk. Recommended.

A wet and windy day looking for something to eat we stumbled across Seawave and thought Fish and Chips would be a booster on such an awful day. We were not disappointed, quality of fish excellent. Very clean and tidy. Staff very friendly

Good fish and chips when passing through Menai Bridge however completely agree with other comments the staff are so unfriendly and blunt it's almost funny, inside was a bit untidy but at the end of the day it's a chippy and we were satisfied with our dinner here.

Superb fish and chips in a lovely town.Fish and chips, mushy peas and gravy superb. We asked for a splash of gravy and were then told it cost £1! Sadly let down by a gaggle of miserable, stingy locals serving the food up. Bonkers!

Great food, very tasty, staff were friendly and quick to get the food served.Only downside was a bit limited choice, we wanted steak pies (or steak and kidney), but they only had chicken and mushroom, with no offer of anything else. What a great chippy. Service was excellent and quick. I was amazed how quickly three people got through the orders. The food was excellent all freshly prepared and as good as it gets. We had fish and chips as well as fishcakes and chicken nuggets.Nuggets took a while so be prepared to wait if you order them. The shop it self looks a tad run down and old. It didn't look like an appealing place to stay an eat. Felt a bit like a 70's Wimpey. Staff were great. We'll be back!

This fish and chip shop has been here my entire life and the quality of chips has always been fantastic. I'm vegan now so can't vouch for the fish these days, but in my childhood it was always great. The curry and gravy are both lovely, and everything is very reasonably priced. It's not the nicest place to sit and eat (there are much more scenic spots outdoors nearby!), but if you need to get out of the rain it's alright.

Have attended here many times over the years and not been dissppointed yet. Its always busy there with people queing or sitting eating inside. Save your money time and fuel dont bother going down the road to neaptune in Beaumaris eat here instead.

As you'd expect from a neptune Chippy, Good service. Opening times are a little bit weird compared to the one in Beaumaris, but contrary to that. It is cheaper as well! Service is quick and the staff are kind. I always seem to be going back there...

Lunchtime visit for fish and chips. Good piece of fish, reasonable chips served promptly by pleasant staff. Will certainly visit again.

Go here every few weeks and it's probably the nicest fish and chip shop in this area!however, I do find it a bit expensive though.

Over priced poor quality food. Have a monopoly so get away with poor quality food. Staff rude and stare you. They need to realise customers pay their wages. Called a couple of weeks ago and they were closing in 30 mins so would not cook fresh food only serve what they had left. Determined not to use again.

I have been a few times now and each time I am left disappointed. Massively overpriced and seemingly poor quality. The chips are left standing for long periods, it's always hit and miss as to whether they are cooked properly, when they are.. Great! When they're not? Inedible. The fish? Well I have given up on this, mainly consists of soggy batter and zero taste. The only saving glory is that the staff are very obliging when you ask for plenty of salt and vinegar to try and add a little flavour!!As seeing as fish is now out with me, I'd decided to try the pies, now third time round, you may be lucky to actually pick a pie that they have in the hot plate!! Limited stock despite plenty on the menu.The gentleman in the back, frying, can at times make you feel a little uneasy with his staring. One of the younger females behind the counter can appear quite rude at times but the other lady who works there and is there quite a lot is lovely and friendly. I can only imagine that this is why people go back!!

We visited this fish and chip shop which is local to us for the first time. The fish was excellent and the chips non greasy like some you get from other fish and chip shops. The staff were very friendly and will be visiting again soon.

We regularly visit this chippy as a family. We travel around 30 mins just to go here so highly recommend!The fish is yummy and the chips aren't too greasy like some! Deffo visit here!

We looked for our local fish and chip shop whilst we were away on holiday and this was the nearest to us.We tried to buy fish and chips at about 2.30pm only to find that the shop was closed, so we came back later at about 5pm. I was disappointed by the lack of choice of food, fish in particular, which was disappointing for a 'fish and chip' shop. The food was expensive and the batter was poorly made and also burnt which resulted in yucky fish/battered sausages etc. We ended up binning most of the batter, once we'd scraped it off our food which was not what we were hoping for!I would definitely not recommend this to anyone!

We needed a quick bite before going back to our holiday cottage I didn't want to shop and cook as it was quite late so we opted for fish and chips. You can sit in here and eat them which was a bonus portions were huge and delicious and staff friendly couldn't ask for more really

Spotlessly clean fish and chip shop in convenient to the High Steet in Menai. The staff were pleasant and efficient and the chips were excellent - not soggy and not oily and were served in a container rather than plated up. Condiments are on the counter and not on tables thus ensuring that the tables and seating areas are lovely and clean at all times. The restaurant area is bright and airy and prices are in line with other fish and chip shops.The only downside is that it was a little difficult to get in and out of the chairs as they are screwed to the floor and could not be pushed back to allow easy movement around the table - rather difficult for me as I am a little older and stiff in my movement and I had to get in and out of a small space to fetch my food from the counter when it was cooked. Not impossible though and this did not mar my general impression of this lovely fish and chip shop. I will definitely be back and would recommend to others who visit Menai.

the food was great but the cost why are fish and chips so dear???on the main rd so parking is not great but if you look around there is a p/d around the block
