Seasons Restaurant & Bar in Brighton and Hove

On first impressions, the outside of the restaurant is not inviting at all. In fact, it’s off putting, however when you are in inside the decor is lovely. Plenty of room for us and a pram. Food was yummy, slightly pricey compared to other Chinese restaurants I’ve been to but portions were big. Would recommend.

First impressions, staff not really bothered! We ordered a set menu, the most enjoyable dish was the fried rice. When the bill arrived there was no 20% off, apparently not on set menu’s, but they were happy to slap on a service charge, which they claimed they are legally allowed to do. We will certainly not be returning!! Try Gars Chinese Restaurant, you will not be disappointed.

Sunday night told you get 20% the bill, food not good. Left most of it! Asked for the bill and forced to pay service charge! Avoid!!

We had the hors d'oeuvres starters for two. It included chicken satay, which unlike the ribs, prawn toast and spring rolls, was a generous portion. Unfortunately the chicken was pink, slimy and under-cooked. It was covered with a satay sauce that was too sweet. We asked for a portion that was more cooked and they brought back more chicken that was also under-cooked! Needless to say, we didn't eat the chicken. We haď mains of szeuchuan chicken and beef in ginger and spring onion. The beef had a sauce that was overpoweringly sweet, while the prawns tasted as if they had been warmed up in a pre- made chilli sauce. They did reduce the bill by 20%, as they could see we had left more than half of the mains, but nevertheless it was the worst Chinese meal we've had for a long time.

We didn't have the best experience in this restaurant. Neither of us 3 eat pork or beef, so we ordered 3 plates with fried rice or noodles and chicken/gambas. When we started eating we were pretty sure some of the meat wasn't chicken, but pork. This was not mentioned on the menu and after the manager admitted, they did gave us new plates, which is good service. Communication between the 3 staff members wasn't really great. One of the men told us we would get a 20 procent discount, but the manager apparently didn't know and gave us the original bill, so we had to ask for the other man and he finally gave us the correct bill. If we would have allergies we would have had a big problem, so tell them very clearly if you have any or if you don't eat something, even when the menu says something different.

Didn’t realise in Brighton the restaurants shut by 10pm. So after getting off the British airways flight tower at 9 we had to find somewhere that would let us eat. This restaurant and staff were fantastic, didn’t rush us or drop their service! Recommend and the food was great

Mixed review, 7 in the party and everything started off well with the starters which were top notch. The mains came along and four were good though one was a little tough to eat, but three chicken meals were poor over cooked and dry and one smelt of prawns and too tough and totally inedible.

Stumbled across this place and was bowled over by the great selection of vegetarian/vegan dishes. The food was delicious and reasonably priced!

We visited,admittedly after a few alcoholic beverages. I thought £60 on a meal for two people with one alcoholic drink each was a bit steep. The setting looks awful from the outside and only slightly gets better inside. We ordered the pancake rolls and spare ribs to start. These both turned out to be small portions. We had one pancake roll each ( these were the size of a little finger) and the ribs were tiny also. We both enjoyed our two mains and the rice was delicious. Would I go back, probably not.

After finding out our booking at a restaurant nearby had been strangely cancelled, we decided to take a chance on the, intriguing, yet ultimately, wanting Seasons Bar and Restaurant. To no surprise at all, the place was poorly run, virtually empty, and had an atmosphere the equivalent of a Popworld on a Monday at 6pm. The tone of the evening was set by what greeted us — that is to say, what didn’t greet us. The front of house staff. After a good 5 minutes of some forceful hellos that fell on deaf ears, we eventually sat ourselves down at a table, the owner finally greeting us and offering us menus. With the red flags already at half mast, they were that bit higher as after only two minutes after being sat down, sounds of drilling and construction rang around the room ad nauseam. While it was about as coherent as a hit piece of Asian pop may be to a Brit, it wasn’t quite as decadent to say the least. Eventually, the only waiter on shift took our order. While his…interesting personality shone through, it was soon mired by the fact that only forty seconds after taking down what we wanted for drinks, he promptly returned to our table and asked again. ‘Water’, I said. While a pint of Ashai was obliging, the glass of still was alas nowhere to be seen. So, the food arrived. And you know what, all things considered, it was a delight. The curry was smooth, the seaweed succulent, and the prawn toast was, well, toasty as can be expected. All in all, not bad. Would I say this was a mind blowing experience for what appeared on reviews to be worthy of a Michelin? No. Would I say this was an awful, nightmarish adventure never to be embarked upon again? Not really. Would I recommend it? If you like eating fried rice to the incandescent sound of drilling while observing the folies of a singular waiter on shift, go for it. Overall, Seasons is a work in progress. I think the waiter said that himself. With a few more hands on deck, some louder music, and some soundproofing, this place could just be the gem that so many think it to be.

From the outside this restaurant doesn't look very inviting, however once you enter it is really lovely. The dining area upstairs is very pretty with beautiful lighting and ambience. All of the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food was fabulous and very reasonable. All of our dishes were so flavoursome and presented beautifully. The kitchen is open which is always a good sign to see the food being prepared and cooked. I would highly recommend you try this little gem.

OK so came here for lunch the owner is fantastic and the food is amazing. I am so keen to come again but need another mini break to do this.

Despite some previous poor reviews (you can’t please everyone!!) my husband and I went here for lunch and had the 3 course meal which was superb. The service was excellent and food well presented and beautifully cooked. Would recommend and certainly visit again.

What a great place to have chose to celebrate my husbands 50th birthday. We were amazed at how lovely the food was. The buffet all you can eat is well worth the money, my husband is a massive eater and he struggled with each course....

Food was terrible, had to leave after the first course, crispy duck turned out to be soggy duck, poo chute was left in the prawns but still forced us to pay £60, cocktails were undrinkable tasted like they have been mixed with bleach.
