Seasmiths Fish + Chips in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Totally fabulous fish and chip shop for gluten free! My son has recently been diagnosed with coeliac’s and he was over the moon with his battered sausage and was able to share all our food.

Not the greatest if I’m honest. £14 for cod and chips and most of it went in the bin! Staff were friendly enough and the collection was easy but, it went down hill when I got back to eat them. The bit of cod that was in the batter was ok. The half of box of chips were rock hard. A lot of money for something that you could really eat. Not one for the memory

Excellent meal. Large chips 2 haddock mushy peas and curry sauce for £23.50. Less than we paid last year for the same at another very poor chip shop. Crispy chips, fresh fish cooked as we waited and beautiful crispy batter. Don't bother with anywhere else. Highly recommended.

We’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve been here, the best fish and chips I. Cornwall, I say Cornwall because that’s the only place we eat fish and chips. Simply delicious 😋

Chips were some of the best we've had from a takeaway, and a generous portion. Sadly I cant say the same about the fish. I asked if the haddock or large cod was the largest fish today, was told the haddock so opted for that. To be fair it was pretty small and batter a tad hard, so a star deducted for that but will return and try the large cod next time. Those chips though.... well done! And friendly staff.

Great greeting by the two FOH staff . Smiley, responsive and assertive. Immaculate establishment. Very fast service from the chefs in the kitchen. One haddock / fries side order Katsu sauce One cod / fries, mushy peas Light batter on the fish, clean crispy chip shop fries. Home made tartare sauce served with both dishes A glass of Spanish Red and a Diet Coke all for under £40 Highly recommend if you are looking for a quick taste great meal in Wadebridge or just looking for a takeaway.

One of the best fish and chips around. IMO better and cheaper than the more famous one in Padstow. Fresh fish in crispy batter and chips. Simple food cooked well. Try the exceptional home made tartare sauce and katsu curry sauce.

This was my first official ‘chicken, and chips’ and boy, let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Consider me fed and thrilled about it. Also, had a totally epic morretti from their fridge, very cold, very good👌 Thankyou sea smiths, youve made my bloody evening

Don't miss out! We live in Padstow and from now on if we fancy fish and chips i'm driving to Wadebridge for Seasmiths, rather than the soggy batter or tiny portions from the 3 chippys in Padstow. Yes that includes the awful Steins! Seriously crunchy batter, awesome chips and gorgeous homemade tartare sauce, katsu curry sauce and mushy peas. Can't beat it. Its no wonder Seasmiths wins awards for their food👌

Nice fish and chips although the batter is a bit too hard that tastes of obvious corn starch/Darritos. Interior is relaxed with chill music. Was busy when we visited we will come back!

Best chips in the district and such a lovely friendly bunch. If you eat in the lighting is a bit harsh but their takeaway system is fab! Very much recommend.

Stylish modern cafe interior, but floor was very slippy. Fish and chips were ordinary (thick crust, thin fish fillet). Tartar sauce was tasty. Cheesy chips - just chips with grated, not melted cheese.

Very good fish n' chips but the size of the cod was extremely disappointing!

Went last Friday evening. Had to wait 30 mins for two fish, two chips, two peas and a curry sauce. £27.50 the cost for two pretty abysmal meals. Fish was extremely poor, small and tasteless. Batter atrocious and the chips soggy, full of fat. Peas and curry were in pots so small it beggared belief. Rate amongst the worst we’ve ever had. Certainly wouldn’t recommend them and won’t be going back.

As good as it gets for a little town. Young lady couldn't do enough for a very tired old lady (me) and the welcome was lovely ❤️just to add I was too tired to eat BUT sneaked a chip and OMG! gorgeous chips!¡!

Just had a lovely fish and chip supper here. Everything was cooked to order and was nice and hot. I will certainly be back, when we are next down, as the food is good and its served in a nice environment. As we we’re down again last week, we took another trip to Seasmiths and the food again was lovely 👍

Nice fish & chips with modern decor

£25 for this... Certainly not like the photos on the website... I will be sticking to Peckish Camelford from now on.. Very disappointing... Also, the chips taste strange... Little bits of potato... The fish was awful... Don't waste your money... Plated on a tiny plate but was a full portion...

Always visit when in Wadebridge. Small selection but perfectly cooked.

Well worth 4 stars, a chip shop with dining facilities as well as a takeaway service. Nicely battered cod, with crisp chips that were fluffy inside. Far better than the limp offerings elsewhere. Maybe I should have marked the food as five!

Simply the best fish & chips we've had in years! Cooked to perfection & served by the loveliest staff - very helpful, polite & nothing is too much trouble. We sat in to eat & the place is spotless, even the toilet (can't sat that much these days). So worth a visit & we'll definitely be back!

This is, possibly, one of the finest chippies in Cornwall. The service was excellent, cheerful and friendly staff, a warm greeting on arrival and being shown to our table. We chose haddock and chips, it arrived quite quickly after ordering and was served piping hot. Beautifully presented and perfectly cooked fish with lovely chips. Now, I don't eat batter, my taste, usually chippie batter is rather thick and heavy, I just can't manage it, so if grilled fish is not on offer I simply remove the fish from it's greasy packet. No need at Seasmiths, the batter is GF and is light and crispy, I ate half of it, and loved it. We also asked for the curry sauce, chips for the dipping of, oooooh it is damn good. Now, your F&C comes with tartare sauce served in a scallop shell, the sauce is made 'in house' I was informed by the lovely lady who served us. May I respectfully suggest team Seasmiths, you purchase some jars, get labels printed and sell the stuff over the counter, it is the best tartare sauce that I have ever tasted. I'd buy it. We ate in. The cod was juicy and not overcooked. Tartare was nice (£1.75 as an extrA), mushy peas good. Restaurants incredibly clean and staff attentive, Saskia was very efficient and friendly. An excellent fish and chips, recommended. Tourists from London !

Was looking for an alternative to hotel restaurant so choose to eat here. Traditional fish and chips to eat in or take away. Food was lovely and prepared quickly and prices very reasonable. Relaxed atmosphere and will definitely visit again if in the area.

I like to think I'm a bit of a conneisuir when it comes to fish and chips as they are my 2nd favourite dish and I've eaten them all over England, was so lookin forward to the experience..the first mistake by them is not to include bread or roll and butter on the menu!?..sacrilege!!...the chips were so hard you risk breaking your teeth on them..the cod was superb! And so we're the portions..overall very disappointed as I love fish and chips..try it though as it's only my opinion!

Pitched up on a Friday night, not a huge queue but still a wait on food for 20/25 mins . Ideal food but could be a slicker operation!

Having owned and run a fish and chip shop then I know what a large fish looks like, assuming that the staff gave me a small fish by mistake. I definitely ordered large so paying £12,70 was a little disappointing! Sorry.

Amazing fish and chips, with gluten free options that are suitable for coeliacs, including GF vinegar!! Such a novelty to be able to have gluten free curry sauce too. Wish we lived closer as I'd be here all the time if so!

I'm not usually a huge fan of fish and chips but this was best fish and chips I've had in many years. Portions very generous, beautifully cooked. Not greasy. Lovely home made tartar sauce. Very pleasant and clean. Nice music. You can watch the world go by. Very good service. Only dropped one star as they temporarily forgot part of our side order (it happens to us all) but otherwise excellent, friendly service.

After a long day in Padstow we didn’t fancy queuing for ages with hungry children at the popular fish and chip restaurant there…. So did a Google search and found SeaSmiths in Wadebridge close to our hotel and thought we’d give it a try. So glad we did!! We managed to get a table on an August evening and sat down for the BEST fish and chips I’d ever had. Restaurant is modern, light and airy and the staff were so attentive and helpful. Big portions for the price and the food was fresh, no soggy chips! Two adults and two children and despite the big portions we still managed to finish our plates as it was just so delicious. We will definitely be back!

****EDIT really wanted to still love this place but on a revisit it was a nightmare. Turned away despite tables in the restaurant, phones not working so we couldn't book in advance and no option apparently but to wait against the wall for an hour to eat. Left a half empty restaurant really disappointed ☹️ Absolutely love this place. Staff are fantastic, food is incredible and the larger is delicious!

The worst fish and chips I have ever eaten, frozen probably triple fried,in palm oil, then frozen again and microwaved absolute disgraceful to be charged £40 and receive such a disgusting meal just, DONT GO THERE!!!!! RIP OFF!!! Wouldn’t feed my dog that!!

Best fish and chips I have had in many a long year. The fish was succulent and well cooked, it just flaked on the fork. The chips were crispy, and fluffy on the inside. The crispness lasted till the end. The staff were very attentive and friendly, and nothing was to much trouble. The only weakness was the atmosphere, this is a minor grip as the food was so good. I would recommend to any one and will be returning.

Get there early 4.30pm -6.00pm for the special large Haddock fish and Chips & mushypeas or curry and pot of tea for £11. A bright, modern with real seaside vibes restaurant with excellent quality piping hot freshly cooked food. Drinks if you want wine! Happy and friendly team all working alongside one another. A joy of a supper on a rainy day on holiday, makes you wish you were local more often.

Great friendly service. Despite being in the middle of the busy season and being a group of ten! The wait was very reasonable, and all the food was served all together. Excellent food. I tried the vegan southern fried cauliflower and it was super flavoursome. Portions are great and food was enjoyed by all! Highly recommended.

The best chips I have ever eaten. The southern fried cauliflower is amazing! Everything is Gluten Free and it's brilliant to see a vegan option in a chippy which isn't just Chips. I've enjoyed eating here many times in the past and will continue to enjoy eating here many times in the future 😋🍟🌱
