Seaham Chippy in County Durham

As a local I've tried most chippies in the area and although a couple of minutes from the main tourist drag, it rates high for quality of food and portion size

Fish was amazing very nice best i ve had for years very friendly helpful staff as well highly recommend

£3.80 for large chip butty that was literally a large bread bun with a hand full of chips😡 kebab meat and chips stone cold and 30mins over delivery time .... won't be ordering again!

Very happy that the order were delivered earlier. Piping hot on arrival. Lovely food as always. Ordered 1 medium 1 large fish looked like 2 large can’t go wrong there. Definitely recommend this fish shop.

This is a proper chippy! We live in Australia now and we seek out proper chippys when we come back to visit the family. Fish, chicken, chips were all very well cooked and the pizza was also excellent! A proper chippy!!

Just fantastic, first time ordering from here and we honestly couldnt fault it. Arrived when they said it would, piping hot, crispy batter, lovely thick chunky fish and beautiful proper squidgy chippy chips. Really tasty and will definitely be returning!

I can’t comment on the food because we didn’t stay long enough to order anything. The woman serving must really hate her job though because I’ve never known anyone in her position show such obvious contempt for her customers. It wasn’t just us either. Went and got a Greggs instead.

This order was placed at 1:25pm with a delivery time of 2:05 - 2:35. It’s now almost 4pm and still not arrived ! Called restaurant a few times and only got through 5 mins ago after harvest told me that they had confirmed it had been delivered !! How can you tell just eat it’s delivered when it clearly hasn’t ! Lady on phone said she’d prepared the order and sent out - and couldn’t do a refund as didn’t know how !!

Ordered a bottle of Fanta they sent tango (not much to some bit we don't like tango) rang the shop about this the owner went out and got Fanta and personally delivered this. Top quality customer service 👏

The dark haired, middle aged woman’s attitude behind the counter was foul. Cutting off customers while they’re speaking, speaking down about her colleagues while they’re stood there and overall rushed and rude customer service. The younger dark haired lady was lovely though, shame the older woman was so foul mouthed about her.

Fish was fantastic, chips perfectly cooked would recommend to anyone who is a fish and chip eater, i wouldn't go anywhere else for mine well done seaham chippy.

Previously this place has been good, haven't been for a couple of years and today the food was still frozen in the middle, a real disappointment and staff seemed moody, not somewhere I can recommend.

Oil needs changing! I reckon these chips were from earlier and just reheated, they were luke warm. Fish was okay. The tartare sauce was more vinegar than anything else. Sorry but it was not good.

Great food as always. Hubby & my mate got large kebab wraps I’d have said they were more XL kebab wraps. (Half put away for tomorrow). I got pizza n yes half put away for tomorrow. Never had a bad order from here. Food always great.

Garlic bread was really nice, great price for 12 inch. Sadly the chips were barely cooked if at all, white and mostly hard texture. Could only eat a few of the scraps that were cooked. Finding it difficult to get any consistency when it comes to chips from any takeaway.

The chips and kebab meat wernt cooked properly again

We order every week .. the last few weeks food and sauces have been missing . Usually they are very helpful and will send sauce or missing food up especially how much business we give them however to be told we are very busy and pretty much do without you have paid for is a disgrace … not be going back to our Friday night regular have to find somewhere else

Curry sauce was spilt all over the bag hardly any left to use, some of the chips were very under cooked the only good thing was the fish as always was good. Won’t be coming back sorry to say.

Was very dissapointed because never had to give low review before but chips were only half cooked hard in middle and greasy and fish Definately substandard to usual .

I ordered a kebab and chips the other day and ended up being ill the next day after eating them there were black hard circles on every single one of my chips and the kebab just did not taste right. I have had kebab and chips from there a lot before and there were gorgeous so I hope this is just a one time bad experience.

Nothing wrong with this chippy! Revised 28th June 2021 Gone down a lot over the last few weeks. Very greasy chips, and greasy fish today. Down from 5 star. Revised again spring 2023. Back to 5 star.

Maybes don’t leave ya just eat in and accept orders when you’s are closed and maybes ring the customers and explain ya don’t have that certain thing instead of just sending out something you’s think we might like.

Big up Seaham chippy! Ordered a few bits tonight and was a slight mistake. Rang up and they sent the correct order straight out no problems at all. Genuine decent hard working people. This is like the 20th time I’ve ordered too by the way and this is the first time there’s ever been a mistake with my order. Best takeaway around here by far. Won’t go anywhere else. Was late tried to ring 10 times phone off to voicemail, asked for refund via just eat as now food was no good as my kids had fallen asleep with it being late was refused this told there will be free items in delivery. food arrived 40 mins late with nothing 'free'

Food was cold and greasy and half of the order was missing then took several calls to get them to even pick up to get the rest delivered so my own order was freezing by the time I got to eat it

Really nice but keep getting my house number wrong it’s 171 Malvern not 172.

The order was late and missing a main dish. Tried contacting the chippy twice, first time went to voice mail which was full so not accepting new messages, the second time the phone was switched off or made unobtainable so we couldn't get the meal at all. Just eat upheld our complaint but only gave us a credit on the just eat account, no refund. All round poor service. Not impressed with either the chippy or just eat.

The food were late but considering the roads covered with ice/snow I’d rather it be a bit late than risk hurrying along and possible accidents occur.

Been getting bolognaise and chips from elsewhere and was dry mince with a few blobs of puree in the middle. So looked for somewhere new and this was lovely!! My child even ended up sharing it as he loved it so much too x

There is nothing negative to say about this chippy. The food and service is consistently excellent.

Worst chicken kebab I’ve ever had. Not chicken breast it was full of gristle. Pitta was stale too. Vile, whole thing went in the bin after 1 bite. On the plus side partner said her chip butty was fine and curry was nice.
