Sea Fare in Winchester

Excellent haddock and chips perfectly cooked. Fresh and great batter with lovely fish. As end of day given pro bono peas and curry sauce all also good

Probably the rudest man frying fish and chips, that I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.The moment tha I made a comment regarding a previous purchase he immediately verbally attacked me suggesting that I was a liar and always complained because I had the previously asked for ‘HOT CHIPS ‘ Never again plenty more nice people serving food in Winchester!

Traditional chippy but with “modern”standards. Responsibly sourced fish in recyclable packaging!!! Old days of greasy chips in newspaper a distant memory. Fantastic cod and chips but lots of alternatives available,definitely the place to go on a cold Friday evening. I also discovered they offer an online ordering facility so will check that out next time, I don’t mind the wait for my order to be freshly cooked but online ordering will mean it will be ready when I get there.

Decided to visit whilst staying near Winchester for the weekend. Quick, efficient and friendly service. Very tasty fish & chips. Will be back when we’re next in the area.

By far the best fish n chips in and around Winchester... gutted its not on just eat or other delivery platforms but worth the drive. 10/10

There's a good choice of different fish available. Thursday nights are gluten free nights, however unless you are a coeliac I would that option as it was awful.

As a northerner, these chips are good to go and the battered sossig is scranable. Anna is absolutely class and always have a laugh with er. Defo back just for Anna’s sake Sausage is amazing.

Picked up a Friday night takeaway and as usual the food was excellent. The fish is always fresh and really tasty, and the portions are generous. Have always been happy coming here, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. It's a firm family favourite!

Lurvley scran battered sossig by wor Anna so good <3 Sossig had nise consistancy so luvly and all my friends lived it too even singing to it !

Stopped for fish n chip supper this evening on way home to Buegess Hill, near Brighton. (we used to live near this shop and used this shop many years ago) it was then the best in Winchester.. Gone down hill since then Wont call again. The Fish (cod) was dry and well done, hardly any fish meat, suspect left over from lunch time. This was 6.30pm. The chips, were re fried, and full of black eyes.

We've started visiting Seafare regularly, initially because of gluten free Thursday, and have found whether gluten free or not (I can't tell the difference) the family thinks it's great. Consistently good in our experience.

Fantastic! Fish & Chips. I don’t get fish & chips that often but when I do I’m never disappointed when I get them from Seafare. The cod is always nice and chunky and the chips always lovely too. Also the staff are always really polite and friendly.

I walked straight out after seeing on one of the staff accept money and then squash down the chips in the carton with her bare hands. Ew.

Decided to have lunch from Seafare and a very good choice! Without doubt some of the nicest chips I have had from anywhere - good size proper chips, very nicely cooked and a good portion size. There is a good selection of tasty fish, pies, sausages etc to go with the chips. What's not to like?

Served quickly and accurately by pleasant staff. Ordered a small chip portion and received a generous box full. Liked that the boxes were cardboard rather than polystyrene. Large fish was very large. Batter was just the best - light & crispy & melt-in-the-mouth without being greasy. Excellent - will return!

Initial order had item missing when we got home. This was quickly remidied with order re done in full. Fast and professional resolution. To boot... Good fish and chips, pea fritter very good, whitebait a nice change. Parking is available in the Waitrose car park opposite if no parking available out the front.

Soggy under cooked chips. Scampi from the freezer. Very disappointed. Got scampi and chips out of our freezer and did a better job.

A very good chippy, which gives generous portions. The fish always tastes lovely and chips are just how I like them. Just for variety, we tried another local chippy and the bad experience just made us decide to stick with seafare from now on!

Qué puedo decir. El peor chippy en Winchester. Probablemente el peor "fish and chips" que he tenido. Estuve enfermo durante 3 días después de haber comido aquí. Sé que algunas personas que han comido desde aquí y ha sido también enfermo. Nunca volveré!

Decided to have some fish and chips for dinner and of course i chose seafare! Fish and chips was delicious, Staff were very polite, Will definitely return😊

The worst value for money I have ever seen 2.55 for a large what a joke I work as a chef in near by hotel and are portion sizes are bigger than that and still don't charge that much what a rip off I for one will not ever go back there very disappointed and when I when to complain was answered with a very sarcastic sorry

Nice setting Food was good and service was a bit slow but satisfactory You can see into the kitchen always a good sign Price moderate

Normally a good place & we tend to pick up meals on our way home, for some reason tonight some of our order was missing and it's just not worth driving all the way back. Shame as we were looking forward to it. Not busy either. Will return but will watch them packing next time

.. "large" no way! more like a child's portion. So small the chips were pretty much cold by the time we reached home.. still hungry! 😭

Food ok, but tiny portions. Not sure if the management are just trying to keep profits up! Will not return

Been coming here for years, never had any complaints about the the staff, think the review below is bang out of order, it's a chippy, not the ritz - staff at these sort of places come and go, that usually 15-18 and it's usually their first job, give em a few more weeks and they'll be fine! The fish is fantastic, the curry sauce is delicious, and the battered sausages trump the lot! Normally served quickly but as expected can take a bit longer on Friday nights.

As part of my usual Friday evening routine I visited this evening and after some confusion as to who was waiting to be served, (there were several blank looking people milling around the entrance and I had difficulty entering the building) I found I had unfortunately jumped the queue. I was then told by a (student?) member of staff to get to the end of the queue in no uncertain terms. In the past, I've found everyone to be pleasant but it was clear that staff in on that evening had not been trained in any form of customer service whatsoever. I expect Fridays to be busy but the service has been very very slow in the last few weeks. There is a lot of chat between the staff which is unacceptable and I think the manager and/or the owner need to understand that Winchester is a very small place and word travels fast. I will be returning and if I am not served in a polite and swift manner in the future a further review will be placed on here.
