Sea Chef in Great Yarmouth

Been on the holiday with my mum in Great Yarmouth for 7 nights. We decided to try the Sea Chef restaurant at the Britannia Pier. It is a really lovely restaurant. Their food is so delicious and enjoyable. I absolutely love their chips and their treacle pudding with custard. The last time I ever had treacle pudding was when I was at my first school. The staff are so kind and friendly. Went there a few days while we were on holiday, mostly where we go there more than once at the same day! We really appreciated being there so much, that eventually we had to say that it was our last day before we go back home to Milton Keynes, they couldn't wait for the next time we will come back, one the members of staff who is a young woman was trying not to cry. She really enjoyed our company as we did with them, and how I was complimented with how much of a handsome smile I had. I would really recommend this restaurant!

Really nice cafe.The staff are very welcoming pleasant and very helpful.I had sausage chips.Husband had omelette chips.If I had to criticise I would have to say the chips were not nice.They were hard dry and brittle.Shame really.

Had fish n chips, not that great. Could taste the oil, what ever oil they use needs to changed. Definitely won't be returning there. Service was good though.

Welcomed in and explained what to do. Value for money and enjoyable. Fast service and helpful. Have been several times when we have stayed in Yarmouth.

What a discovery. The staff were brilliant. Welcoming helpful and courteous. Our order was delivered speedily and by friendly staff who asked if we needed anything else. Value was really good and the meals tasty and filling. This will be our go to choice for a meal when in Great Yarmouth The cafe was clean and tidy.

Charged for hot water to heat baby’s milk. Was happy to buy something like a bottled drink but when i was told it would be £1.20, thats all your having. Never see you again 👋

Really rude staff, waited over 30 mins for a chicken burger and omelette, and was then told “we are busy you know” place was empty when we walked in, our group had left and gone back to there hotels due to getting fed up with waiting. Would not recommend at all, from reading the previous reviews it seems as if the staff have a problem in general. Burger was nasty and so was the omelette ended up binning it.

Really bad customer service skills! My family came in for a takeaway spent £15-£20 for just chips! We had a newborn baby with us who ended up needing a feed and change whilst we waited for food. So we ended up having to eat when the food was finally ready or it would’ve went cold, whilst sorting the baby out to be fed and changed. Just as we wrapped up sorting the baby out & eating we was told we need to pay extra for eating in as it was supposed to be takeaway, bearing in mind we had no idea and wasn’t planning to eat in anyway, but the baby needed a feed and change! Me who was just waiting for them to sort the little baby out & eating, I was minding my business eating my icecream near the exit, I was then rudely approached by some tall women who actually might have been the manager of this place!! I was very rudely told to leave because I can’t eat my ice cream because I didn’t buy it from there! Just as I finished it anyway, laughable really! I understand places have policies & rules! As I used to work in hospitality myself! If she approached me nicely I would’ve been nice back, however she was extremely rude & snotty! If the baby didn’t need to be sorted out we would’ve left when they got their food! I wouldn’t choose to eat in there anyway hence why I was eating an ice cream, It’s filthy with over flowing bins! Disgusting place & and even worse customer service!

Chips tasted just like "by the seaside" chips should. Really glad I chose this restaurant for lunch. Good quality and good price. Take away is on one side, then restaurant on the other.

Eating in silence. The most bland food I have ever eaten.

Stopped in here today for our tea. Service was good, all the servers were pleasant. I ordered plaice, my server asked someone if they had any Plaice, she opened a freezer, had a look and told him yes, there was Plaice. 10 mins later they inform us they don't have Plaice...... so had Cod instead, chips and fish looked good but both were over fried, chips were hard and chewy, the sort you cut your mouth on. My daughter had a sausage roll and it was rank. Looked like it had been pulled from the freezer and somehow looked overcooked and undercooked at the same time. It looked disgusting and unappealing, she said it was horrible.

Top food and reasonable price. Chips are delicious! Well worth a visit.

Great food and nice portion sizes along with superb service makes this an enjoyable place to eat. I had a small issue with a cracked tea cup and they replaced it without a quibble and even brought me another pot of tea! We always come here once or twice each holiday and will be back again next holiday.

Fantastic place for fish and chips. Pricing wasn't too bad , 2 adults and 2 children all ate and drank for £40. The fish, for me personally, could have been a bit more crispy . Absolutely no complaints at all.

After exploring the beach in Great Yarmouth, we decided to visit Sea Chef today. What immediately caught our attention were the enticing offers, mainly the fish and chips. Upon entering, the staff warmly greeted us and directed us to available seating. Each table had a menu, allowing us ample time to consider our choices. I opted for the Cod Fish and Chips, while my partner chose the Saveloy and Chips with curry sauce. When the cashier announced they would call the order number, I informed them I was deaf and couldn't hear. One of the servers kindly offered to keep an ear out for our number and bring us our meal. After a short wait of about five or ten minutes, our food arrived. The portion size was excellent, and the fish looked crispy and fresh. The chips were standard fare for a fish and chip shop, but what impressed me was the availability of salt, pepper, and vinegar at each table, allowing us to season our chips to our liking. Although I'm not usually a fan of fish and chips, this one was exceptional. I savoured every bite and even sampled some of the delicious saveloy sausages. The customer service at Sea Chef was genuinely outstanding, and we were particularly pleased with how accommodating they were to us. They made the dining experience accessible and enjoyable. If I were to provide any constructive feedback, it would be regarding the fixed chairs, which might make it challenging for wheelchair users to access the establishment. Other than that, I wholeheartedly recommend Sea Chef to anyone seeking a high-quality British meal. The place's cleanliness was impeccable, and it was evident that the staff worked diligently to maintain a spotless environment for the next customers.

Staff were very friendly, greeting us when we walked in. Prices are reasonable. Would have liked a few more chips for the price paid though

Speedy service. Nice sausages and chips. Price was reasonable enough. Can't complain!

We chose this place as an alternative to a well known chain establishment. The staff were very friendly and efficient and the meals were delivered to our table quickly on a busy bank holiday lunchtime. The only downside was sitting near the open door and the onshore wind but that's not their fault (it's Yarmouth not the Canaries afterall)

Nice place but....bread roll was hard...chips were cold... not bad price but not be returning...

Had a wonderful time here whilst visiting with family! The service and restaurant itself was brilliant, they have a great selection for all (I am a vegetarian and I had a selection of food to choose from) and even serve bubble tea (which was so yummy I’d recommend the watermelon tea with strawberry bubbles) all for such a great price too! Afterwards you can walk along the pier too and look at the sea! When we visit again we will definitely be going here and I would recommend it to anyone!

Clean, efficient....all food made fresh to order.... Great coffee.

Food was really nice, but went to use there toilet later in the day before me and my partner got the little train back to seashore caravan park, the lady who was in there said “we don’t have any toilets sorry” but I had used to the toilet when I was in there earlier in the day, so she lied to my face, also doesn’t help that I’m 6months pregnant and was dying for the toilet. Not impressed.

Extraordinary fish and chips restaurant. Very helpful welcome. After getting and table, you have to order on the counter and they give you a number. When food is ready they shout the table number and you put your hand up. Food is extremely good. The fish is one of the best ever and the salad main dish is very generous. Not a big amount of chips in the only one choice size which it is supposed to be large but they are very nice. Well located by the beach, very recommended.

The food was good and hot, portion was not brilliant had the large fish and chips I won't of really classed large but still was tasty. The 2 staff members were fantastic who do the dining area there very funny, and the hot choc was lovely Thank you

Dirty oil, food not the greatest. Watched staff speak like dirt to each other. This is not my first visit and have witnessed this before. Don't waste your time across the road is a large amount of restaurants to choose from at half the price.

Lovely friendly staff good quality food with reasonable prices

Chips were awful - greasy and soggy. Cheapest possible ketchup and staff at dine in till rude and quite frankly obnoxious. Large chips would classify as a child’s potion! Avoid!

Fraudsters told me it was free to sit in the lady was extremely rude to me and refused refund i asked for my 45p to be refunded that was over charged to be refunded i paid £8.50 for cod and chips and cup of tea £1.50 thats only £10 not £10.45 i would not recommend this place if this is how they treat customers make me angry the manager is a fraudster i work hard for my money you defrauded my money and I will tell everyone just look at other customer reviews your see im in the right also told me i had to leave even when not finished my food i just continued eating my food i paid for it you should be grateful to have me as a customer also food chips under cooked fish was okay had some side salad with lemon no need to be rude to customers and reviews state your being rude to alot of customers so your the issue here and i will be asking trading standards to look into how you treat other customers even my bank agreed with me after i had to file a dispute my bank refunded me so your not so smart now are you.

Very unimpressed. Both the fish and chips were under cooked and portions very small. 5 of us were eating and 3 of us had almost finished our meal by the time the last 2 meals arrived. Toilets disgusting! Had we seen them first would never have eaten there as it probably reflects on the cleanliness of the kitchen!

Friendly staff and great food :)

No impressed at all. Over priced for the large meal. Claims Large fish and chips for £8.95 yet gave me two very small bits of fish. Not a lot of chips either. It said salad or chips. They gave me both. Bottles of pop £2.25 for 500ml, Water £1.50 The £5.50 kids meal came with fish chips and peas and the fish portion was only just a little bit smaller than mine

Had fish and chips after not coming here for years and was very disappointed, chips were very anemic and tasteless, fish was OK but not the best, family of 5 and all said the same thing, definitely won't be returning

Very slow service, food was nothing special and paid a fortune for a small amount of chips that was supposed to be a large serving. Charged me £1.20 for a sachet of tomato ketchup too 😲! Even though it was advertised as a pot of ketchup, they gave us a sachet. Wasn't even that busy either

The staff here were helpful and friendly. However, the chips were not good. The oil they were cooked in was clearly old as they had that taste and the curry sauce was not nice either. The portion was also very small. Wouldn't recommend.

(Take away review) Paid just over £2 for the tiniest tray of chips I have ever been served! £1.20 for an egg cup of curry sauce. Don't know if the eat in is more value but won't be trying!!

Good price but lacklustre fish, not enough batter on them.

I have been in hospitality for many years and this place absolutely nailed it 1st class FOH staff cleanliness was superb food quality excellent attention to detail could not have been better

Brilliant tasty food at an affordable price..Excellent service from the Manager Anna Marie Barwick and staff who were all friendly, helpful and polite..It was a pleasure to dine there, Will definitely go there again the next time I'm in Great Yarmouth..

Won't go again, there food was really greasy was wasn't the best, didn't bring the right food out and forgot about kids milkshakes that I had to go ask for and no where to put pushchairs and wheelchairs and was very ruddy told to go move my nans wheelchair out the way when there is no where to put them.

All staff were fantastic, allowed us to have a dog in there. Food was brilliant a quick service even brought the dog a bowl of water and a couple of sausages which he loved and he loved all the attention. Definitely be back next time we in great Yarmouth.

Best fish and chips in Great Yarmouth!

Very good variety of food and brilliant service

Went yesterday with my family, my niece wanted cheesy chips and she got chips with abit of grated cheese, they called my order number but it wasnt my order, so I said this to the young servers, when I eventually got my food a man who worked there came over and told me not to be rude to the servers they are minors and they got the order wrong. Food was okay but service was awful

Excellent food. I had scampi, chips, coleslaw and salad bery nice. Served 13 of us and didn't have to wait long at all.

Excellent food, excellent price, many reviews state about dated decor, what difference does that make? So long as food and service is good 👍 Food was quick and prompt,lovely and accommodating staff! Will be visiting again! Menu in photos! August 2021

What beautiful food, we went 3 days out of 4 and was never dissapointed. The staff are lovely, the food is top quality and fresh and id mark it as a must visit for yarmouth pier goers. I cant wait to come back.

I went, and it was nice but could be better

Visited today at 12 05 for a cup of tea. Staff were all organised and friendly. It was however a bit worrying that friends and family were grouping around a table of 5 customers on a table clearly marked as not in use, also some of them were popping in and out of the kitchen to say their goodbyes to members of staff. Not recommended as covid aware.

Really friendly and accommodating staff, however location has issues with accessibility, decor is thirty years past it’s prime; order of fish and chips did not come with the side salad as advertised, and had a slightly overwhelming ‘dirty oil’ after taste. Was ever so slightly disappointing.

Really disgusting food chips covered in black bits old batter on fish and rotten smelling beans and they overcharged me even when I asked for a receipt I got a scribbled piece of paper I left everything i do not recommend avoid this rude and shambolic fish and chips!!

6 of us ate here all the chips were cold but the fish was cooked and hot i ordered a puka pie which they cooked in the microwave when i got it the pastry was so hard i couldn't break it with the fork i asked the serving staff why it was so hard i got told it was normal but she would ask behind counter that was the only contact i had as they didn't even bother to reply further or ask if i would like it checked Very disappointed as not just about the food but the fact they dont care about the customers and the fact they cant eat what as been served

What a lovely experience, the sea chef is an amazing family run business. The man who owns the place was closing up as my family got there so we thought we had to go elsewhere but no he shouted "turn the fryers on" and he let us in. He was very funny and food was great with a included little bit of salad. And it's good value for money. Only negative the chairs are a little dated but nothing major. I would give more stars if I could. 👍

The food has always been great me andmy son llove it here always welcoming great portion size and always nice to hwar atqff laughing. .

5 star food with 5 star service. The place was just about to close as we got there, when we said we had walked a long way to get there..(which we had..in the rain) we was invited in, they turned the fryers back on and asked what we would like. All three of us had cod and chips which also came with a lovely little dish of salad. Fish was a good size and cooked to perfection, along with a good sized portion of chips. Staff were all so friendly and polite, couldn't of asked for better service and food. We had been there a handful of times before on other trips to Great Yarmouth and will definitely be going back again.

Mediocre food, okay service, milkshake made me feel sick; at one point I thought I was going to throw up, it was far too sugary with sweets on top. Too much, not needed. The waitress was kind but it was a little annoying when she uneccassarily interupted our meal to take condiments to top up that didn't need topping up as they were already nearly full, so people at our table couldn't use them as she also took a long time. But the price was good.

Good service, friendly staff. Two sausage egg beans and chips for £4 and allow dogs inside, you can't go wrong.

After being reccomeded to eat here we where all severely disapointed. The food was horrendous. None of us ate it, n there was 7 of us!! Left horrible taste in mouth. Old oil, inedible batter... never ever again

No frills cafe serving delicious fish and chips. Food cooked fresh. We come here every time we’re in Yarmouth. Kids meals great, near the beach on the pier. Only let down by the loos!

Fish was fresh cooked chips had obviously not been. served with a small pot of dodgy looking salad.left a greasy bad taste in the mouth. All of us left food even grandson who always eats everything . On top of that meal spoilt by young staff members shouting too each other. Defiantly better places on Great Yarmouth seafront.
