I'm from the Black Country and I always say that we can't be beaten when it comes to chips with our local delicacy of orange chips, but yesterday while eating chips we got from Sea Breeze, I don't think I've ever had chips before that's made me say 'mmmmm' out loud! The chips were the best I've had in a long time, and even though we all had a small portion size, it was just the right amount. My daughter went in for cheesy chips and they didn't scrimp with the cheddar, they were plastered in yellow goodness. There were quite a few people in the take away section where I went, but I thought all the guys behind the counter handled orders brilliantly and professionally. I didn't think the pricing of the food was too bad either. I'm shocked to see such a low star rating on here, but it's a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me!

Day trip to dawlish! Both Gentleman's serving 21.7.24 were lovley,Polite, friendly and generous. One of the best customer services I have had in a long time! And done with a smile! Food was amazing. And very good prices! Thankyou :)

First ever visit. We both had jacket tatas. Wow.lovely thick slice of ham. Coleslaw and salad comes with it. Bloody lovely.well done chef and servers.5****

The fish and chips from here were absolutely disgusting. The fish & chips taste like they had been reheated from the day before we had travelled 200 miles that day to have a nice evening meal. Sorry, but I won't be going here again. What a waste of money 😒 😪

Quality Fish and Chips take-away. My usually fussy children ate all of theirs.

Probably the best chips I've ever eaten

The best fish and chips I have had in a long time. Fish batter was really crunchy and not thick or oily. Chips where crisp dry just as you want and proper mushy peas. We eat in the resturant but they also do takeway. Prices are great value for money.

Stopped by for a bite to eat at lunchtime, which was admittingly not the best time as it was very busy. I did not have to wait too long however; the lads who were doing all the cooking worked very fast, getting through their orders at a good pace. It was worth the wait to get that bacon cheeseburger which was very delicious, kudos to the lads for working through the heat and pressure during the lunchtime rush. It could not have been easy but it was very tasty, thank you. Other customers were quite rude.

We have had food several times in here from breakfast to evening meal and takeaway We have never had any problems with any of it would highly recommend it

I went here yesterday. A young lad kept taking orders but not passing on the orders to anyone so how he remembered everyone’s I don’t know. I ordered 2 large chips I waited 20 minutes after I ordered for my chips. People were coming in after me and getting served which wasn’t fair. I then told his colleague that I have been waiting 20 minutes. When I got my two portions of chips they were disgusting! Black chips we threw away. They were hard and a horrible taste! The worst chips I’ve ever had in my life. How it was 8 pounds for two large chips which were a standard size and they were awful. So disappointed as I was so hungry and looking forward to it. Please don’t eat in here you will be disappointed!

We recently went on holiday to Dawlish and wanted to get fish and chips. After reading the reviews on Sea Breeze we decided we would go to another chip shop as it had much better reviews. However the other chip shop was closed and I took the risk and purchased from Sea Breeze and to be fair the food was great. I’m not sure if they had a bad patch but from what I’ve seen and experienced the place is immaculate with friendly people and great food. We really enjoyed thank you

Ordered a jumbo battered sausage and chips along with cheese and chips from here today. They wouldn't sell me a jumbo from the shop, it had to be two small sausages instead. The portion of chips was tiny. I kept watching people leave the takeaway next door where mine came from, and it looked nice with lots of cheese. Instead, I got stodgy chips that was all different colours. Most was hollow and overcooked and caked in fat. Had to complain and got a new batch which was the same, if not worse. Overall, I wouldnt eat here again. If it was cheap I would have put up with it. If you can't cook chips in a chip shop I think it's the end and you should just give up. I didn't eat it all as I couldn't get around picking out the rubbish and eating around the fat

A lovely restaurant only 50 metres from the sea. Nice food with a fair portion for the price, well worth a visit

Very nice place to eat and drink..untill the lady next to us gave her dog her cup to drink out off..maybe she loves her dog..But I don't like drinking from a cup her dog drunk out off even though it would of been wash 🤮

Superb fish and chips. Freshly made and served in a great location near the Dawlish promenade.

Always visit this place when we come to Dawlish. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is good and reliably priced.

Thank you for cooking our order fresh for us 20 minutes before you closing. We appreciated it(don’t live local and unsure of closing times) and it all tasted amazing too.

Wasn't sure when we went in that it would be that nice. I was pleasantly surprised. Quick service, friendly staff (all wearing shorts in winter 🥶) good food. Recommended!

Regular visits as live in Dawlish good food service and cheerful and helpful staff would appreciate Hot drinks being prepared a little hotter especially Lattes but other than that Great place to visit for Food and Drinks 👍👍👍

Very disappointed, fish and chips were barely warm, soggy batter.

Over priced and over cooked. Chips were dry and hard and fish was tasteless. We used to come here a lot but we won't be going back worst meal we ever had. Total waste of £30 ended up hungry as totally unedible.

Wanted to have fish and chips looking at the sea. You order at the bar and the young man was polite. The food was very good, cooked fresh to our order. £11 something for Cod and Chips which to sit in was good price. The only issue I had was the table was clean but had used tissues and fag butt's under the table. Could have just happened but should have been seen by the staff member who cleared up. Saw many people using the takeaway to have in the gardens or on sea front.

Came in tonight for cheesy chips, jumbo sausage and curry sauce. Chips swimming in grease, jumbo sausage wasn’t included and charged for it. Defiantly not returning.

Came here to get some chips to take away and they were lovely. Fresh, crispy outside and soft inside. Nice staff who worked there, friendly and pleasant to talk to.

Food and service are wonderful which makes for a great atmosphere. Love the takeaway. As a local I always recommend this for your standard British chippy

This place is brilliant. Just popped in for a drink with family, but saw a bright clean restaurant with excellent meals, choice and certainly value. I watched a couple of young families feasting on beautiful looking meals. I looked at the menu and the prices are really budget friendly. Front of house seemed to be several young men who were polite, super efficient and friendly. It was so good to see a well run restaurant

Cod and chips pretty tasteless.

It was an average fish and chips meal. The chips are very good , tartar sauce good but scampi was a let down. They're served in annoying little baskets now. The atmosphere was okay, sportsvon TVs and pub area nextdoor, but not overly clean seating area and they forgot some elements of the order. Would use for takeaway but not sit in. Prices average, lots of ice cream flavours.

Food was very greesy and not much potato in chips. I definitely wouldn't eat there again made me feel sick. I've just been back to get refund which I got but staff where extremely rude please see my photos

Great food, atmosphere and service. Love people watching here or just relaxing on an outside table in the sunshine. They have wifi. All good.

Best fish and chips I've ever had, pleasant but busy restaurant with chippy takeaway on one side and a cafe/ bar on other end but all the same business. We sat in restaurant in middle of the entire property and it seemed clean, bright and tidy so no complaints from me.

If Carling made the worst fish and chips these would be them! Batter was very oily and was like biting through cement brittle almost a tooth breaker ,inside fish was gooey, chips were awful .....last night felt sick... never again !

Had a great lunch here yesterday whilst visiting Dawlish , food was great , atmosphere was good & staff were friendly & helpful 👌, perfect if you want to stop by for fish & chips if you are in Dawlish 👍 👍

Food was OK, cheap and cheerful, service a bit slow and atmosphere poor.

This used to be called Bailey's, back then the fish was a bit on the greasy side but it was a good café nonetheless. It's now called the Sea Breeze, and the food hasn't changed much. Nice portions for the price but the fish was slightly overdone and overly greasy, which is how some people like it. But nice mushy peas, service was functional and friendly, lots of space inside with a proper seaside cafe feeling. All good value considering everything.

I went there and was made to feel very uncomfortable by the guys working there. I don’t normally write reviews but I thought I should this time. As soon as they heard my mum talking a foreign language as she is visiting me, my order was delayed and people were served before me even though I was there for a really long time. There was no empathy to the fact she is 70yo woman and people coming and going getting their order and we waiting for no apparent reason. If they were busy I would understand but people were able to come, order and take away even though we were still there waiting, not to mention we didn’t get what we ordered and charged twice even though I’ve confirmed in two opportunities that he knew what I had ordered. I would hate to think the choice to serve us the way they did today was anything to do with my mum being foreign, so I will mention it but not accuse them. But it felt horrible to be placed at the back of the queue every time someone else walked in to order theirs.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was served quite quickly and was very tasty.

Best fish chips had for long time beautiful crispy batter chips .Good portion .10 /10 .deffo re turn furbaby pleased as big ptn so she got some PAWS UP.

This place has gone down hill over the past 2 years Used to be full everyday but service is not very good and the place is crying out for a woman's touch Would not recommend

I would normally give a 5 star rating but on this occasion I can not due to the attitude of one employee. I had been for two hospital appointments in the morning and was having lunch before going for surgery. It was a long wait for our food order 25 minutes. All the doors were open and we moved out of a cold draught to another seat which was also cold and draughty. I asked if the door could be closed and was told, no it has to be open. I have eaten there many times and never been so cold. The food as usual was good. I requested the door be closed again and this time I asked why it has to be open? Reply to keep it fresh!! I said sitting in a fridge for 25 mins was too fresh for me. This time it was closed by a different employee.

This is the worst chip shop in dawlish!! For the price they charge is disgusting..... I'm sure the chips I had at lunch time were last nights chips and the whole shop is filthy and and stinks when you walk in...... Food hygiene need to take another visit I think

We always use this place for take away chips and curry sauce. They have always been Good, even when it's busy. This time we had them inside as it was quiet due to the time of year. We had excellent service from Dan and enjoyed the food and drinks as we always do. Not a lot of Atmosphere as it was quiet, but it was ok and comfy seating. Good photos of then and now on the wall, we'll worth a closer look. Well worth a visit particularly in the summer or now if you don't mind it being on the colder side. Plenty of places to walk and check out the wildlife. Look out for the famous Black Swans.

Had fish and chips here last night, around 8pm. Chips was good but the fish, was undercooked. Understanding that batter might have been done but doesn't mean the fish is cooked!!!

As takeaways go great place to get fish and chips. Close to sea, parks and railway /buses. Good service from all working. Food was hot and very tasty.

Great food. Service slow had to wait for 35 minutes for food to arrive. Tables very untidy and had to wait for them to be cleaned. Very disappointed as always had a good experience before.

*UPDATE * Visited in October 22 and was not impressed by the food quality, the chips and sausage were good, but the fish was undercooked and still had the spine in the batter, absolutely disgusting and the price was not cheap, after many years of good food from there I was bitterly disappointed. Visited mid November during the second lockdown whilst walking in Dawlish. This family favourite restaurant is only open for takeaway. Still a good menu, drinks and bread rolls available the chips and curry sauce were very tasty as we sat near the beach and watched the sea. You have to order and collect from outside due to social distancing and just step inside for payment, cash and card were accepted, thanks for being there for us!

Regularly have fish and chips here, fish is superb,freshly cooked with crispy batter. Quick service from friendly staff.

I've recently moved to Dawlish from Paignton and came here with friends, been here twice as I thought the first time it happened was just a one off but no, let's put it this way the staff make sure you know that you are keeping them from closing up by stacking chairs and putting everything away around you, generally making you feel like you have to go.

Best fish & Chips in the South West of England. Try it yourself. Don't even have ti drive there ? It's next door to Dawlish railway station

We’ve eaten here a few times this summer. Outdoor seating some of which was under cover. Dog friendly outside. Food was lovely and even had a bowl of water for our dog.

Used the takeaway section of the restaurante, service was quick, professional and friendly. Picked up chips and curry sauce, chips were fresh and a decent portion and the curry sauce was spot on. Would order from again, thank you

They'd run out of the first 3 things I asked for as well as several types of drink and didn't mention that my husband's dish came with chips, so he ordered extra as a side unnecessarily. The food was good and I was impressed with the quality of my son's nuggets. The staff were very young and seemed to be laughing at some of the other customers, which made me feel uncomfortable.

Had three half size fish and chips plus bottle of wine and soft drinks. Fish was appalling in fact I almost sent it back asking where the fish was!! A strip as big as my little finger for over £8 EA I am local and frankly will never go there again.

After 20yrs of visiting dawlish we finally got round to trying it out. Absolutely spot on. The food came out quick and hot and the portions were large. My kids loved the milkshakes best they've ever had apparently. Staff were also really friendly. Don't know why we have never been before. Will definitely be back.

Staff using bad language, not at customer's but still not nice. Cheap burgers, curry sauce too thick. Chips ok. Just in it to make money off tourists.

Absolutely amazing, food is fantastic and so delicious, staff are so helpful and very friendly, prises are amazingly cheep and you don't get a small meal they are fairly large, I 100% recommend this place
