Awful 😞 Not good value for money, terrible service, food is very overpriced. Won’t be going again.

Arrived at the cafe for a quick latte with my friend before our appointment. Got there with 35 minutes before we needed to leave. As we arrived, we waited by the door for over 5 minutes without any acknowledgement from the 2 members of staff that were there. A simple 'be with you in a minute', or some nod to us being there would have been appreciated. When we eventually had the attention of someone, we were led to a table. We told the waitress that we just wanted a quick latte. Having been seated for a couple of mins we were suddenly shipped out of seat. Apparently the table had been reserved (no reserved sign on it) and asked to move upstairs. We moved upstairs, on the way explaining to the waitress that we were in a bit of a rush, had an appointment in less than 30 mins and just wanted 2 lattes. Once we were upstairs, the waitress up there asked us if we'd ordered. We said we thought we'd ordered 2 lattes, had asked the lady downstairs for 2 lattes, but weren't sure whether or not the order had gone through, could she please check? We then sat there for 20 minutes and no drinks arrived. The waitress also never confirmed whether or not our order had gone through. In the end, we had to leave without any drinks. Having read such great reviews about the place, we were extremely disappointed with the service we received. The customer service was awful. Who knew it could be so difficult to grab 2 lattes in a cafe over a 35 minute period!

First time here. Wow! From entering to leaving the staff were really attentive. Menu & food chosen was excellent. The prices were very reasonable. Impressed with the kids books & paper/crayons to keep them entertained. A little gem 😍

The food here is good but the only problem is the staff or the staff I seem to get sometimes are very slow. Once or twice I get a normal service or a normal speed service and I’ve given this place the benefit of the doubt as I like the food but sometimes the staff don’t acknowledge anyone and just unnecessarily take forever. It’s very unfortunate as it’s good food, bit expensive but it’s just worth it. Unfortunately the service lets it down so much.

Came here for the first time, nice cafe. The array of sweet treats display looked amazing on the counter however they are all left out in the open….not a single cover over them 😳 All uncovered next to the till area which is quite a tight space when customers are waiting to pay and customers near doorway waiting for a table. (coughs, sneezes, runny noses spring to mind). Surely this is not good for food hygiene? I wanted one of the delicious looking scones but for this reason steered clear of them. We was also wafting away a pesky fly for a lot of the time we were there so no doubt flies etc sniffing out the sweet treats especially in summer time. Come on shop owner…please consider using covers.

I have been to Scona numerous times recently and, unfortunately, have had some mixed experiences after what has previously been a faultless cafe. The coffee is still great, as are the cakes. The lunchtime menu has reduced in offer and the sandwich fillings were tasty but mainstream - cheese, ham, beef etc. After one recent visit for coffee with a business acquaintance, we were halfway across the car park (with a queue of people outside waiting for a table) when one of the staff shouted from the door “have you paid?” . All heads turned to look at us. We had paid at the time of ordering. Not the way it should have been handled. The staff here are generally lovely and I hadn’t seen this lady in before. Another visit we ordered large coffees and small arrived, but we let it pass. Another visit a friend ordered a beef barm with horseradish but bacon (no horseradish) arrived. When it was changed quickly for beef, no horseradish was supplied. The Covid plastic screens have been removed. Sorry, but I don’t like uncovered cakes sitting on display where people ordering or paying can cough over them. Still a good cafe with awesome scones and cake, but several wrinkles.

After walking the Dovestone & Yeomans reservoirs, me & my brother were ready for lunch so drove a short way down the road and called into Scona. We hadn't booked but the extremely friendly staff found us a table upstairs and I'm so glad they did. I had the roast beef sandwich and it was divine. The pickled red onions and horseradish mayo really made a simple sandwich something special. My brother went for the roasted red peppers sandwich and he raved about that too. We were so impressed by our lunch, we decided to check out the cakes for a take away treat. We both settled on the Guiness cake, and again, it was absolutely delicious. Despite the hour and a half travel time from home, Scona will definitely be on my re-visit list.

We came to Scona a couple of weeks ago for a quick coffee and asked for a sausage roll - the sausage roll took a little while to come and we needed to pay and leave. When we came to pay we found the staff had wrapped it up warm for us to take away on the house to apologise for the late timing - such a kind gesture from some obviously hard working waitresses. We wanted to tip but had no change so we will definitely be tipping double when we return! Thank you!

The first time I visited Scona was to meet my sister halfway between Manchester and Huddersfield and I loved it. We have since been back twice and brought other members of our family to try it. The food is fresh and delicious, with a large variety of cakes and sandwiches. The best thing on the menu however is the vegan sausage roll! Very good at what they do and has become a favourite for us.

My partner and I visited Scona after I fancied a sweet treat one Sunday afternoon. I ordered a cherry scone (which was the best I’ve ever had) and a cappuccino which was smooth and creamy. My partner ordered a sausage sandwich which was slightly delayed due to a staffing shortage, but the the staff that served us were accommodating, friendly and unflappable. We were offered a complimentary hot drink to compensate for the short delay which was well appreciated. Before we left, we ordered a slice of Victoria sponge to go (again it was gorgeous). I will certainly be back soon.

Scona in Greenfield came to my rescue last weekend as I was searching for a local business that could possible deliver a gift to my Sister for her birthday. Scona were adverising a delivery service for afternoon tea that looked lovely. A selection 5 different sandwiches to choose 3 from. A cream tea & a piece of cake. Also if you wish too add a bottle of Presecco for additional cost. Plus a choice of 3 time slot through Saturday. Saturday was prefect as it was my sisters birthday. It has to be said the look of delight on my sisters face when she video called to say thank you meant alot especially we couldn't be there to celebrate with her. Thank you Scona you made my day & my sisters too. When this lockdown is over we will be visiting your cafe for sure.

We love scona - my mum and I consider ourselves scone connoisseurs and these are in our opinion the best! They come with clotted cream and homemade jam that is delicious. We eat here regularly and also ordered 35 cream teas for all of the parents at my sons birthday party and everyone commented on how good they are. It’s also a lovely chilled place to have breakfast and is child friendly with some toys upstairs to play with.

Been here a few times and it’s a nice friendly place with a small but well formed menu. I had a jacket potato with cheese and homemade beans and it was delicious. The red haired lady serving was cheery and helpful. Dog friendly too but only downstairs where there aren’t many tables. Get there early at lunchtime!

This cafe is dog friendly if you can find room downnstairs. Food is good but I would prefer it if scrambled egg with smoked salmon was on the menu. Coffee a little bitter for my taste.

I may be in the minority as i guess quite a few people who live in this area do have more money than others. Im not one of them. The food was lovely but i felt realllllllllly overpriced. £5.50 for 2 slices of bacon and 1 poached egg on some soda toast. My poor gran paid even though i insisted she shouldnt and id pay. Its lovely food but i honestly cant afford to pay that price for not much food. I know its popular but i guess thats for people who can afford to eat at these expensive places here in Greenfield and Uppermill. Ill stick with Kingfisher as i feel you get more for your money. Im sorry for my review. Im only being honest. Maybe one day if i have more money i could visit again as i really did want to try the scones :(

Scona is hidden away near to the junction of Wellington Road and Chew Valley Road in Greenfield, just across the road from the Tesco store. It has a couple of tables downstairs but plenty more upstairs. You order your drinks and food at the counter downstairs and they brink everything to your table for you. They do not have an extensive menu but I am sure there is something on the menu that everyone would be happy with. The homemade scones, that come in various guises like cheery bakewell, raisin, blueberry and white chocolate and plain. I have tried a couple of them and they are wonderful. Make sure you have them with jam and cream. The Yorkshire tea is a loose leaf tea but don’t worry you don’t get tea leaves in your cup. All prices are very reasonable. If in Uppermill just have a walk down the canal towpath towards Greenfield come off at Tesco and you will find Scona close by, no more than a 10 minute walk from Uppermill.

I've been to scona a few times before and I've also been to cafe's in Uppermill that sell scona cafes. However a couple of times recently, I've noticed that there is a hair embedded into the scone. I feel that they should check them before they serve the scones and wear hair nets. Scones aside service is great, staff are lovely and the place looks fantastic.

I visited Scona for the first time today, and was really impressed. The scones were delicious, I had a cheese one with my soup and brought home a raspberry and while chocolate one too... The service was friendly and personable, I like it when staff give you honest recommendations and then are interested in what you think of it. I had the pea and basil soup which was recommended to me and was v. tasty. The oven- bottom muffins looked great also.

I love Scona, it looks great, the food is always great and the staff are lovely. The New Yorker is my favourite and I often have this served with whatever the soup of the day is. I know I'm eating fresh food with well sourced ingredients and to be honest when I leave I feel like I've given my body a bit of a treat. Obviously the scones are brilliant but to be honest all the sweets look fabulous, I just haven't yet got round to trying them all. If you are in the area then pop in, you won't be disappointed.

Was quite amused when I ordered my lunch to see a member of staff enjoying her lunch and then have to stop eating to deal with me. This was at aprox. 12.30p.m I would have thought it was a busy time for staff break. The wait was quite long considering it was only a New York pastrami toastie. On receiving my meal, which was thick bread (more suitable for a hungry builder,) not burnt but practically inedible due to the hardness of the bread. It was awful, but this is my opinion.

Enjoyed a very good sourdough - with smashed avocado and chilli jam. A dairy free brownie was warm and soft and thoughtfully served with blueberries on the side. Oat and soy milk available. Lots of toasties and scones for non vegans. I’d share food pics but I ate it too quickly!

An excellent place in Greenfield. Superb atmosphere. We went for brunch with our two girls (age 6 and 4). Delicious food with very helpful staff. There is more seating upstairs and although it was busy, at no point did we feel that we were under pressure to be rushed out to get our place free. There is an area downstairs where dogs are welcome to come in. Highly recommended. The scones are outstanding... especially the blueberry one!

Scona is a rustic experience where you can have drinks and lovely food. You can then look round the reclamation shop. If you like shabby chic you can't go wrong. The food is simple and have a good choice of meals. I love the choice of scones and my wife and daughter love the beans on toast which is different to normal. They love the salad choices also. It can get busy but you can book tables.

Discovered the Hidden Garden over a year ago now and it’s one of my favourite places to go. Great coffee (no additional charges for milk alternatives), beautiful views and dog friendly! The little treats they serve your dog are an added bonus (no charge either!) my pooch loves a visit. We have been in all weathers, although most of the seating area is outside there are some wonderful covered nooks to curl up with blankets galore and even a pizza stove burning logs to keep you warm in the winter. The cakes and food are delicious and the additional pop up food stalls they host are brilliant. Highly recommend for a cosy catch up away from the high street bustle.

Nice place and great service .had Sunday roast Beef . Beef fatty . Don’t thinks it’s topside cut ?? I’m local to this pub just being honest

Stopped to have a glance at the menu as decided on Sunday breakfast out. Chatting away to a chap, the owner I think, made to feel very welcome. Good choice of different dishes, decided on the Rarebit and "A Bit Of Both On Toast", which was lovely cheese and homemade baked beans. Both were delicious and good coffee to boot. And our furry companions loved the fussing and the doggie menu! Planning a return visit soon for Sunday lunch!
