Lovely fish and chips lunch. Excellent service. Lovely area to eat. We’ve ate both inside and out now. And love either. Fantastic prices and value for money.

Excellent food , great value for money. I had the deeside platter which was a great way to taste what was on offer. Outside are would be great in the summer. Perhaps could be more modern looking but doesn’t detract from food. Service friendly as well

Had an excellent Brunch today freshly cooked tasted great and reasonably priced (included Tea or Coffee). Staff were very friendly too; will definitely be back soon. Might just help new visitors if you can have a sign saying order at counter if that's the way its done!! Outdoor area will be great in the Summer

Went into the cafe today as our usual down the road was full (I won't add the name of it to rub salt in the wound but it is the very antithesis of the Scolty Cafe). I expected interior to be modern and light as I know that the furniture store attached relocated from central Banchory to a new building just a few years ago. In reality, the decor hurt my eyes - so much clutter and old fashioned objects (think gnomes and hot air balloons) adding to the dim wallpaper. Sounds so petty but if this place was painted light grey and the upholstery wasn't the awful burgundy (presumably chosen to match the logo of the furniture shop which again ages the shop by thirty years), it could be really nice. The staff were super friendly and seemed relatively efficient, however, my flat white was undrinkable and had separated by the time it got to the table . My son said that his hot chocolate was nice though as was my cheese scone. I honestly wouldn't come back even though there is a great car park and potential to potter around a gift / furniture shop. This adjacent space was also cluttered and had the look of a shop that has over the years just added to the displays rather than re-thought them. Again, staff super friendly but even though I needed a gift for friend, I couldn't wait to get out of the place. This place could be so good but very much falls short of the mark (also there were a lot of crumbs under my table). Please take this review in the spirit in which it is intended - easy improvements that could make a massive difference.

Food ok nothing to write home about you can’t pay at table for Xmas lunch menu so had to stand in a queue for 10 mins while other people ordered there food and paid for at same time A system where if you get table service you should be able to pay at the table as well was told to pay at counter Place old fashioned looking and you have to clean your cutlery as well!!!! Won’t be in a hurry to go back

Amazing food and service. Best place to eat in Banchory. Also has a small outside section for wee ones to play in,a big added bonus!

When I saw the carnage outside Ride Café, I thought my chances of having a relaxing coffee, while resting my legs, were nil until I saw the Scolty's board on the road. Eaten here before, so I knew how good it would be. What a bonus; able to sit at a table in the sun with a coffee and a fruit scone. Thanks very much to the team at the Scolty for opening; with proper distancing measures.

Wonderful home bakes including gluten free. Lovely reasonably priced light lunches. Super service. Attached to a lovely shop for small gifs or even furniture. Plenty of seating inside and out. Kids made welcome.

We were on holiday, staying with friends who live in Aberdeen who recommended this cafe as they had been there before. Unfortunately it did not meet their previously good experiences expectations... Lovely location but quite a limited selection of cakes/pastries available and very small portions sizes for the prices being charged. We sat upstairs and were brought our drinks/cakes by the waiter. The hot drinks were served in horrible plastic 'beaker like' cups (like something a child drinks squash from). The tea was nice but both the latte and flat white were not nice at all, in fact most of the drinks were left. A little more attention to detail could make this place much better

We had an afternoon tea for Emily’s upcoming birthday. Wonderful selection of sandwiches sausage rolls, scones and strawberry tarts as well as numerous tray bakes and jam and cream. Absolutely delicious

Great food, steak and fish cooked to perfection, served with really good chips. Went for deserts too, which we don’t normally go for, butter tablet ice cream hit the spot.

Service was very slow. We were in for 1.1/2 hours just for soup and pudding and coffee

I booked the Glenaden Hotel to provide a funeral tea for 30 people after a private internment in Ballater . Neil , the owner could not have been more helpful in organising this for a very reasonable price. We were delayed at the cemetery but a quick call alerted the staff who said no problem Once there we were given a private area for the family with its own bar and toilets . The food supplied was fresh and plentiful and there was unlimited tea and coffee . The staff were friendly and always available. We were told we could stay as long as we wished and that was great because everyone had come from far afield . It was a nice end to a sad day . We intend visiting again for food when next in the area .
