Worth going for the staff alone so friendly we ate in the restaurant and they made our 2 boys with special needs super welcome fish and chips were fantastic cooked freash and when they say large fish they mean whale fantastic value for money we will definitely be back they are worth more than 5 stars for food and staff

This has to be the absolute BEST gluten free fish and chips EVER!!! The rest of the family said it was the best fish and chips they have had too... And gluten free curry sauce!!! Wonderful!!! So so lovely!! Wish we didn't live so far away!!! Thank you!! Wonderful service too!!!

My husband, mum & I had takeaway haddock & chips, the outside of the cafe should have warned us. They were, without doubt the worst fish & chips we have ever eaten. The batter was greasy & hard, the chips were like eating cardboard that had been soaked in water, left out overnight, then heated in the microwave. How hard is it to cook chips?

We have been coming here every week covid permitting for the last 3 years. The staff are always friendly and the haddock and chips have always been delicious, hence why we keep going back. The owners are very friendly and always interested in what we are up to and ask about family members. I hope this place never shuts.

I went to Scoffers on my way home from work to get tea for myself and my family a 'chippy tea' It is not often we have a treat and after a close family bereavement I decided that we all deserved this. Once home (2 miles away) we all opened our chips, sat around the kitchen table and started eating. I was the first to comment how horrible, chewy and grey the chips were and everyone else agreed. We all stopped wating and my husband called the shop who stated they would refund us the money for the chips. We went back to the shop and recieved £8 refund in cash. This was just for the chips. Not for the 4 gravys and 1 curry sauce we got to accompany the chips. The owner then came over to me and admitted he had given us yestetdays chips! I was in such shock that I left the shop. It is only now I can see how disgusting this is and feel absolutely cheated by the staff. I will never go back here

After a pleasant day out Clay Shooting at Sutton Bridge,we found our usual Fish and Chip Shop closed,so after discussing the alternative options we decided to call at Scoffers for our Fish and Chips,BIG MISTAKE,ordered Haddock and Chips for us both,the assistant was draped over the counter waiting to serve and what I think was the Owners Wife was pacing up and down near the Friers with a Baby in her arms.when we recieved our Fish and Chips,they looked rancid and under cooked,taste was horrible ,stripped the Batter off the Fish before we could eat and it, the Chips went in the litter bin,total waste of money.WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN,Filletts next door a better option,No Masks worn by staff, DISASTER ALL ROUND.

I was recommended Scoffer’s as i was told about their amazing chips. I was not disappointed, the chips are fantastic and are the best I have ever tasted. The prices are very reasonable, portion size is good and the staff are very friendly. Definitely the best fish and chip shop for miles around.

when in to get some fish and chips, noticed that the staff were not wearing masks or gloves, unlike the fish and chip shop opposite. - big concern!!!

I was fortunate enough to get to experience Scoffers gluten free fish & chips in 2019 when I was visiting Sleaford from Australia. It is now 12 months on and all I wanted this evening was some more. Australia is fabulous, but it really cannot make fish & chips like England, especially the gluten free quality that’s tasted from Scoffers last year. I am back again in December, and hope that they are still operational. Only downside is that they do not have a published menu or advertise their gluten free capabilities on their website.

Fabulous fish and chip takeaway and restaurant. Friendly service, everything cooked fresh to order, phone ahead if you want it to be ready. They serve gluten free every day of the week including, fish, sausages, chicken and even scampi. Separate fryer and server utensils used so no contamination if you are coeliac. Portions are plenty big enough too! Thanks Scoffers!

All round perfection. Although the restaurant is small and upretentious the service was prompt and courteous. My partner ordered chicken strips with mixed salad. Well presented and advise taste as good as it could get. I ordered Cod Bites with usual sides, chips and mushy peas. The latter perfect the fish was like Snow flakes. Wonderful. Complements to the "chef"

I recently found this place after moving to the area. At first I thought I would use it as it was closest to my house. Then when I saw on their menu a king rib and chips I was very very impressed. This is a meal I used to get in scotland all the time but it's the first place to do them in england. It was succulent and the batter tasty and crispy. The staff were young but amazing and the surroundings are pleasant and you can even have a meal there at their cafe. Highly recommend

We went in for a quick tea on a Friday night. The lady was absolutely brilliant with my children and couldn't do enough to accommodate us. She was so lovely. My husband ordered fish and chips which looked good and I had THE most impressive salad with battered fish cakes and the kids had battered sausage I have to say the batter wasn't very crunchy on the fishcakes and sausages but it was ok, and I didn't want to complain given that the host was so lovely. I'm sure next time it'll be great and I'll give 5 stars. Worth a visit for the hospitality and salad alone!

Can't fault staff at all. Found the fish a little bland, but what do I know. Not the very best fish and chips I've had, but worth the very reasonable prices.

Just left the restaurant and won't be rushing back. We don't like soggy batter on fish. The batter used to be crispy and delicious. Not now. We wearnt the only ones to comment. The batter spoiled a really good piece of cod. Shame.

The carpark was full , the takeaway bar was full. There was one table in the restaurant so we took it. The paints falling from the walls and the table wobbled but it was clean , the staff treated us like old friends and I immediately felt relaxed, I ordered the LARGE haddock and chips i was told straight away it would be a extra 8 minutes because they cook it fresh. The food arrived and looked food , the chips a light yellow colour crisp and fluffy inside. The fish was perfect , a heavier batter than I prefer but no way wrong. I ate the lot and enjoyed every mouthful. Will be back. 6/10 just needs a freshen up.

Fantastic service and so friendly. Salads are the best around, good for variety and fresh. Chips very nice and the portions are huge.

The staff were very friendly, our order was taken promptly. A lot of people came in after us but got served before us and was on there way home. However we waited and waited and waited, then after half an hour or more we finally got our order. We got homeunwrapped the fish and chips so very greasy that we left some of it.

Staff are friendly and efficient. Service with a small. Food excellent. Clean and plenty of room to park.

Not being rude, but dont judge a book by its cover! Outside doesnt look to inviting but well worth a visit. The ladies in the restaurant have to be the friendliest you'll ever meet. The food is lovely. Will be calling in again next year when we come up to Sleaford.

Great place to eat. You are always welcomed with a bright smile and pleasant conversation. You have a choice of eating in, or takeaway. Personally, I like to enjoy the company of the stff, so usually eat in. All the staff are happy in their job, and it shows in their dedication to the owners and to the public.

Found this quite by accident late on Sunday night, lovely fish and chips, great service and great staff, will definitely be going back as I don’t live far away

Great fish and chips and very pleasant staff. Decor could do with a spruce but really it’s all about the food and that’s excellent. Loads of parking and very easy to get to.

Lovely fish & chips served by really friendly and polite staff who are a credit to the shop. Hygiene rating 5 which is a big plus! Doesnt look the best from outside but dont let that put you off, we will definitely go again.

we go here quite a lot ,but we have started to notice notice that the Chips are getting thinner,not like they use to be,maybe have a new person now getting the chips ready .

I love this chip shop!! Everything I have got from this chip shop has been tasty. The portions are good too so your never be hungry after. Best chip shop around!!

one of the best in Lincolnshire and incredibly inexpensive. There is a kids special fish and chips which to eb honest is adult sized at £2.50, so fill your boots!

This was first time to scoffers... I was so impressed with the food (big portions) the staff and the service we recieved. we will be returning again soon x ☺

A large bag of chips £1.50. But a lot of chips were under cooked. Crispy ends and tasted odd, maybe due to the oil? I’d prefer quality over quantity and these ended up in the bin.

We have eaten here a lot and every time food is excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. The quality of the food is always wonderful. So glad this little gem is open again.

Great to have this place open again , a favourite with the kids when in Sleaford or passing at tea time. Fish and chips (plus other food) are always good quality, and the staff are very friendly. Loads of parking outside, and entry of tables...

The staff at this Chippy were fab, friendly and helpful, in my quest for gluten free fish and chips. Sadly the fish and the gluten free batter was not that nice. The batter was 'chewy' and 'paste like' on the inside. Chips were good though.

No habíamos planeado comer aquí, pero como paso y recuerdo que estaba bien antes, estamos contentos de haberlo hecho. Las porciones eran generosas porciones de niños, incluso el de mi hija era casi suficiente para un adulto. La ensalada que tuvimos era estupenda, fresco y sabroso, mi pescado estaba delicioso y burger de mi hija era "encantador! ". Teníamos tarta de chocolate y helado de postre para terminar. El servicio era muy amable y rápido, aunque el lugar estaba lleno a capacidad pronto en la zona de restaurante donde estábamos. Buen precio. Muy feliz y estaría encantado de volver cuando esté en la zona. Ah, sí, había buen aparcamiento exterior gratuito para los clientes, que hizo que llegar a el coche cuando se completa solo que poco más fácil.

Buen pescado y patatas fritas recién cortadas, los nuevos propietarios apasionada y amable. La decoración es sencilla pero cómoda. Las porciones son deambula. Ensalada es excelente. En general, nos quedamos impresionados.

We have found that this is in my opinion THE BEST gluten free fish and chips We have a family member with coeliac. They separate the tools, and other foods. No cross contamination So far we have been 3 times and no problems. Makes life that little bit easier when you can trust a company that know their stuff and have got everything working. If you phone Scoffers to pre-order GLUTEN FREE its all cooked fresh and never greasy. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Friendly staff, huge portions, looked lovely but turned out to be very greasy. Fish and chips were both tasteless.

Enjoyed yet another delicious offering from Scoffers tonight. The fish was delicious, the batter wasn't greasy or heavy and the portion size was huge! Always a friendly welcome. Definitely will be back again. Keep up the good work.

You can tell how good Scoffers is when you see the volume of customers buying fish and chips for take away and for eating in their restaurant.It's not a 'posh' place, but just about 50 yards away is a very modern looking fish and ship restaurant, practically empty compared to Scoffers.The Haddock and Chips were excellent and that's what this review is about, never mind it could do with a lick of paint, it's a great fish and chip shop.

A complete refurb - we were looking forward to our first visit since the reopening....what a disappointment. Soggy chips, tasteless fish and nothing much else to say......we will have to find another chip shop nearby in the future

Sat in the restaurant area.. it's nothing special in terms of decor it serves the purpose ... But the food is delightful... beautiful fish, nice chips, salad is fresh and plentiful xx

since there reopening after a fire we have been back twice and will be for many more, food is just as good as it was, staff are great and great value.

Called the other night and we had Fish and Chips and Mushey peas by were they good keep up the good work.Nearby so called chip shops had better watch out, we made a mistake of visting a nearby one during closure we would have been better going outside and throwing them in the bin.At last Fish and Chips back in Sleaford.

So pleased Scoffers has reopened after the fire, and great to see same owners and staff.Always friendly. Always plenty. Always tasty. Always cooked very well.Only negative is the wife won't let me have Scoffers every night.

We tried fish and chips from here for the first time in years tonight. The food was very enjoyable and the haddock cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly. Food good quality and price. Portion sizes are very reasonable. Would definately return. The only negative feedback I could give is that the paper used is really not a good quality paper. We had paper stuck to our food which meant we either ate paper, chucked it away or spent time scraping it. Fortunately the size of portions meant we threw them away and we're still full.

Re opened after the fire . Great fish and chips and soon to have an alcohol licence. Friendly staff and fast service . Well done.

This is the best Fish and Chips around. Always freshly cooked and at the correct heat. Always pleasant smiley service. Generous as always. We are happy Scoffers are open again.

First time back since the fire and not disappointed, big portions,great Quality,and the side salads are a creation,by far the best fish and chips in the area.

Scoffers has been closed for a number of months after a fire. This was our first visit since it has reopened. Admittedly the place is not completely finished and the indoor ground floor seating area is cramped but hopefully this will improve when the more able bodied can eat upstairs. We all ate Fish and Chips with my parents both having the smaller portion of chips. The chips were well cooked but flaccid. The fish cooked to order was over cooked, not excessively and the batter was full of oil. I can still taste it from time to time even now a few hours later. The service was very good, the lady serving us was personable, attentive while not being intrusive. However if Scoffers is to reclaim their reputation they will have to do better than the other Fish and Chip resturants we have been using whilst they have been closed.

Scoffers always had been my favourite Chippy in Sleaford. Today its reopens after few months and i visited the place with my family. I must say i was very impressed with the way they treated us back. The place is newly refurbished, with ample sitting places .They offered free chips today to every one as a thank you for visit the opening day and excellent customer service behind the counter. New improved menu with varied choices and most important good value for money.I will highly recommend Scoffers to every one.

Fish and chips are a national institution and for the future of this cuisine we can only hope that Scoffers returns from its close due to a fire earlier in the year! With our close family living in Lincolnshire we've eaten at Scoffers for over 25 years - and it has been delicious every time. Scoffers has always simply stood ahead of any chip shop - and we have tried this national dish from The Highlands.. through Northumberland... Yorkshire and throughout the UK. The key to Scoffers success has always been the delivery of perfect fish; light bubbly batter coating almost steamed large flakes of fish along with deliciously crisp fluffy chips. Chip shops in the UK are being ruined with a jack of all trades focus on chicken, kebabs, burgers and so on but Scoffers has always had the focus on the traditional dish done best.We've lived in London for over 15 years but have continued to drive back wherever possible to savour the treat. The South East is not known for its fish and chips, but we can safely say that the quality of the fish has always been up their with meals we've enjoyed in Michelin Star restaurants.As I'm sure with many fans of Scoffers, we never left a review or shouted from the rooftops to 'keep it to ourselves' but we feel compelled to write this following news of the fire...Lets hope it is not too long till we can celebrate once again with a lllllarge cod!

Definitely the best chippy in Sleaford. Good value with generous standard portions and the option of smaller portions for those with a more limited appetite, Unfortunately, a fire recently gutted the building. Such a shame but I guess an occupational hazard.

We have been here twice, the waiter is very nice and pleasant, the food is ok, nothing special. We would go again only because it's good value. I would hesitate to recommend it to my friends, it lacks a little atmospher. Just about OK.

We travel from Kettering to Bridlington on a regular basis, out first and only break is always here for tea. Delicious every time, great portions, well cooked, crispy batter and scraps. Very rare I have fish anywhere else but here. Will keep coming, not sure what the council was thinking of letting competition set up so close and they even have the cheek to use Scoffers car park!!

Best chippy in Sleaford. Large portions or for those not wanting too much do a small fish and chips for only ?".£2. 50 Bargain!!Unfortunately closed at the moment due to a fire that has gutted the building. Can't wait for it to reopen.

Its hard to wax lyrical about fish and chips, but Scoffers is one of the best in the country. I eat there weekly as a treat and the food is always cooked to perfection, large quantities and the building is immaculately clean and the staff always helpful and friendly. If you are not feeling overly hungry they do a junior portion for £2.50 which frankly is adult sized. Don't miss it!

Very good value for money. Excellent choice of fish and everything and more you would expect from a fish and chip shop. In particular the option of having salad with the meal instead chips is a real and the salad had everything on you could want. Service was quick and staff friendly. We would certainly recommend this restaurant and hope to visit again when we're in the area.

Have previously had fantastic fish and chips here. This time, possibly because it was a Thursday evening, nothing was right. Chips weren't quite cooked, fish cake had probably been sat there for a few hours and the fish was dry and the batter chewy. Also had a small pot of curry sauce which I didn't even try as it had unappealing lumps in it. Sorry, but this place has really gone down hill, shan't be rushing back.

We stopped off for burger and chips on our way back to our hotel. The portion was terrific and the service was excellent. We are so glad we chose Scoffers and will be back next time we are in town.

Writing a review of Scoffers never really does it justice, if you like fish and chips, you just have to try them.The menu and decor are traditional, with exception service.

Sad to read some bad reviews about this place so had to say a few words we always have fish and chips from Scoffers on a Friday and I have never had a bad take out the fish is a good size in fact me and my wife have to share a potion the chips are always cooked just fine I would recommend this great chip shop.

Visited Scoffers on Sunday the 4th Oct. I ordered Chicken and Mushroom Pie with a portion of chips. The chips were OK quite pale but hot and fresh, not the best I've had. The chicken and mushroom pie, well, I tried to cut into it and the top crust broke into a dry powder. So I thought I'll just discard the top and eat the filling, I thought at first it was a joke pie and was empty, but worse than that the contents were still there but had dried into a hard residue which I think at one time had been chicken and mushroom. Couldn't eat it and won't be going back there ever.

Called in today about 3pm the place was empty which should have been a warning . The chips were undercooked but the worse was yet to come . We both had cod the batter was average but the fish was inedible it was grey in colour and smelt and tasted so strong we couldn't eat it and ended up throwing it away , my only regret was that we had travelled to Lincoln before we ate it . Had we sat in the car park and ate it I would have returned it and got my money back ,,The WORST fish and chips ever , wished we had gone to "Fillets" (I think it's called ) next door

Had takeaway fish and chips tonight. Have to say the chips were undercooked and very anaemic looking. The fish, we had 2 portions , was luke warm and tasted very watery as if been frozen. Did not look or taste like cod at all. Sadlly we both ended up with indigestion. Looking at previous reviews maybe we were unlucky but has put us off this establishment.

Wow. Feeling peckish one lunch time so stopped here for fish and chips. Just one word to say about it. Excellant!!!! They also have an eat in resteraunt. Well worth a visit.

I have lunch here two or three times a year if I happen to be in Sleaford during the week. The restaurant isn't anything flash but it's clean and tidy, the service is friendly and the food is fresh, portions are good and there are plenty of condiments available.

Great staff, nice food and atmosphere. Maybe a few too many chips though. Car parking spaces are right outside and toilets available too.

Scoffers is a good chippy, and normally the food is excellent and a must if in Sleaford. We recently visited here and we were no impressed.There were plenty of friendly staff, but the food was Luke warm and not up to the usual standard which was disappointing. Hopefully this was just a blip.

I'vs been using Scoffers for a few years now after being introduced by my parent's and its a 30 Mile round trip to go.I can honestly say these are the best fish and chips in the area in my opinion. The menu is traditional and the portion sizes are big. But you can't beat the quality or the service. I've seen the comments that it looks out dated but I would say it is traditional/retro, which I quite like as it doesn't need to compete with other new restaurants on looks as the current look and feel fits the restaurants. The quality of the food and service keeps me coming back, as well as a lot of other regulars.

We have been using this take away for years and have rarely had a bad meal, the food is lovelly, the service is friendly and the prices are reasonable. We decided to go for tea in the restaurant one evening and it really is a shame it is so run down and shabby. The meal was lovely, as normal, but the seating, decor, and surroundings are dreadful, really outdated, mismatched and felt dirty. This restaurant is in serious need of a refurbished to bring it up to date and make it as nice as the food. Think I will stick to the take away and habitat home.

Very obliging staff with good manners. Call regularly for a small sausage & chips for my son, no matter how big or small your order, well treated. Must try the battered mushrooms, to die for.

I eat here on a regular basis. & it is a great little fish bar I have always had excellent service & food. It isn't the sort of place you go for a romantic meal but for some good basic food this is the place.

Grimsby for fish, Lincolnshire for potatos, and Scoffers to put them together.Long famed as the best Fish And Chip shop in the area, and with a perfectly good 'sit-down' as well, the only problem you will ever have here is queing.Recommended.

Fresh and tasty fish and chips, almost as good as you get at the seaside. Always busy but fast service. Best takeaway fish and chips in town so we don't bother going anywhere else.

We have been eating here for years and it is still just as good as ever. The fish is cooked just right, lovely and juicy, batter nice and crisp. not too thick or too thin. Chips are always good whether old potatoes or new, make a good chip butty too.Mushy peas come in a separate dish so that you can tip them on your plate as you wish, again hot and properly cooked. The hot chocolate is a particular favourite of mine, delicious with a large swirl of cream on top.A good choice of main courses including salad.Also a good choice of sweets from Ice Cream Sundaes, Apple Pie and Cheesecake.Plain and simple cafe style restaurant, always clean and both staff and owners are friendly and helpful.We eat here, usually as a couple, every 2 or 3 weeks and have done since the nineties, even though we live 28 miles away, it has always been worth the trip. Our first choice chippy.

This is the best fish and chip shop we visit in lincs.the food is brilliant.The service is brilliant and it is clean.Most important I have never left feeling hungry

Have not eaten here for approx 2 years and was very impressed. Restaurant is more like a cafe (Formica tables etc) but spotlessly clean. Very busy when I visited (Saturday tea time) and we had to wait approx 20 mins after placing food order but this did not matter as everything was beautifully cooked and hot. I ordered a side salad rather than chips with my fish and it was wonderful-very crisp and fresh and not just lettuce/tomato etc but consisted of coleslaw carrot sweet corn beet root peppers pineapple cucumber and the portion was very large-it filled half the plate. The waiting staff were rushed off their feet but still found time to be polite and attentive. Will certainly eat here again. Good value for money - 2 coffees,fish chips and peas and fish with side salad just under £15. Ample car parking.
