Just got back from a lovely evening at The Grove, the food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were very friendly and professional. The restaurant is beautifully designed and the standards are very high. Will definitely visit again. Well done team.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner with friends at this new venue. Our booth seating was particularly conducive to conversation and for eyeing up each others dishes. This is a training restaurant and the standards are high. It was interesting to interact with the front of house students who happily relayed our compliments to their colleagues in the kitchen. We had a great night and have already booked our next visit.

We delighted to be able to be at the opening of The Grove Restaurant at the beginning of October 2023. The refurbishment is stunning. However, the welcome from Mark and the students is outstanding. The menu was diverse with the steak pie being one of the best I have tasted. As regular diners we wish Mark and his students every success for this academic year.

We visited the revamped restaurant last week as a group, we are regulars and always enjoy the delicious food and friendly ambience. Restaurant is very smart , service was excellent as always and food was delicious.We can’t wait to pay a return visit ! We’ll done everyone.

Had great value three course meal the star of which was the monkfish main.Service was excellent and price reasonable.Will definitely be back,only thing is the ratatouille with most meals is a bit out of place but minor complaint in my opinion best meal in the area

Very disappointed with the vegetarian meal today. I had the smallest meal served up to me more like a children's meal. Since when do you have roast potatoes and ratatouille with a Chinese style meal. Will not go again

Scene 1 never fails to impress. Tonight was no exception, an excellent three course meal! Much better than many restaurants both here and overseas. Liam was a great host, ensuring we had drinks and double checking our order. Mark who is the tutor in charge is to be congratulated at the standard of service so early in the academic year. Seriously, eat here excellent food prepared and served by wonderful young people!

Excellent Takeaway Dinners! Scene 1 switched to offering a takeaway service during the Tier 3 restrictions. Same fantastic food! Well done students and tutors!

Once again Scene 1 exceeded our expectations. The students followed the Covid secure rules perfectly. Each of the three courses were excellent. Well done to the training team and their outstanding students.

Four of us enjoyed an excellent meal which had 4 courses and each one was something special! The lamb apparently was fabulous but I had the Salmon which was in a whole grain mustard and honey sauce totally delicious and very well cooked and presented. The staff deserve credit for their culinary skills and all the waiting staff were very pleasant and learning the ropes from a professional Maitre D. My friends have introduced me to a super venue and I will certainly return. There’s also a full bar service which too is reasonably priced.

Scene 1 is a fantastic training restaurant for young people entering food industry. The staff support and guide them with skill and care. Food was outstanding with a good service. Always a delight to eat here.

5 friends in the same street have lunch at the college on a semi-regular basis. As a vegetarian I do not get a choice (it is a small menu and I understand!). I have never been disappointed. This week's ultimatum was. a "vegetarian burger" and it was excellent - well cooked aubergine and wonderful home made burger with great chips and coleslaw. Once again a very happy vegetarian - thank you all ...

Starters were ok soup had to ask what it was a bit plain. Pate liver nothing adventurous. Turkey dinner was very nice and plentiful. Steak Pie and Salmon for my parents was too. Sweets ok. Staff friendly and in training overall good.

Decided to have a meal here as we were going on holiday and would save on the dishes lol. The meal was excellent and served by young attentive polite staff. Posh for cheap who could ask for more

Been here several time for both lunch and evening meals. It never fails to disappoint with delicious food every time which is way better than any of the pubs and restaurants nearby. The students are very attentive and their customer service is second to none. At such great value prices too it seems rude not to order 3 courses. A very well stocked bar offering at large range of wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks. Definitely recommend a visit which also provided valuable experience for all the students working hard at the front and in the kitchen.

We visited the restaurant for lunch today and were extremely impressed with the quality of the food. Good choice of dishes ( we knew before we went what was on the menu today - via Facebook page). Very pleasant staff all round. Excellent value for money! Will certainly return soon.

Beautiful meal yet again by the students and staff excellent service as always no matter what you ask for they go out of there way 110 % to help you recommend this restaurant to everybody n kids are most welcome and the prices are fantastic

Food night with the girls!!!From start to finish we had a great time. Brilliant service, food and a well stocked bar. The staff could not do enough and were very attentive. Fantastic learning opportunity for the students, working in the kitchen and the dining area. Would highly recommend anyone to give Scene1 a try the food is to a very high standard and the prices are more than reasonable. We will definitely be back.

Como vegetariano, me sorprendió y excepcionalmente contento con mi opción - uno de los mejores que he tenido. Los estudiantes estaban muy profesional y siempre servicial. Hoy almorcé con amigos en escena para celebrar el cumpleaños 96 de nuestro vecino de Bill. Todos disfrutamos de la deliciosa comida, incluyendo el hijo de cumpleaños. Gracias a todos por cuidarnos tan bien, especialmente para decorar la mesa y la torta de cumpleaños, tanto encantador apreciamos mucho, nos vemos pronto.

Tuvimos almuerzo de Navidad en escena 1 hoy y estamos sirve un delicioso almuerzo, mucho mejor que la comida de Navidad que tuvimos la semana anterior en un hotel local bien conocido. Cada campo de nuestro almuerzo de hoy estaba delicioso, caliente, y preparadas en casa. No nos podemos quejar. También muy bien atendidos por nuestro camarero joven, muy bien hecho, nos vemos en enero.

Fui para una comida de cumpleaños con mi hija. Me recibió Sharon y su equipo de estudiantes. El restaurante tenía un aspecto encantador, también hicieron un alboroto sobre nosotros y mi cumpleaños, había ido a esfuerzo extra e incluso decorado la mesa. Vino a escena 1 esta noche y tuvimos una gran noche. Qué lugar tan encantador que no creo que estaban en un colegio. Siempre hemos tenido buena comida y los precios son fantásticas. Buenas porciones de tamaño y todos salen de su manera de cuidar....

Primero visitamos el restaurante Escena 1 cuando nuestro hijo estaba haciendo su curso de chef en East Durham College. Que ni siquiera nos dimos cuenta el restaurante estaba disponible hasta entonces. Hemos estado varias veces para eventos de día de San Valentín, Navidad, quemaduras de noche y en general. Los camareros y camareras son preciosos y están aprendiendo sus roles de trabajo y la comida es preparada por el chef en la formación y esto hace que sea aún más agradable. El restaurante es confortable, con un ambiente encantador. Puedes conseguir una bebida, ya que tienen servicio de bar que está de nuevo mediante la capacitación del personal del bar con licencia. Tienes una selección de entrantes, platos principales y postres, y nunca he tenido una mala comida en nuestros tiempos de ir allí. Siempre es una experiencia muy gratificante y que se dedicaba a visitar también.

First visit to this restaurant that is situated in the college at Peterlee. Service extremely quick and food very tasty, Potato ans Leek soup, perfectly seasoned served with a home made roll, still warm. I had the salmon served on a lemon and caper sauce with vegetables, that were nice and crunchy with a dressing as a nice touch. My other half had the pork option with Wasabi mash, which was perfect, not blowing your head off! I'm not a dessert person so i had a token berry and chocolate pot which was pleasant. My wife had a cracking cheese board with all the cheeses she loves, served with celery, grapes and crackers.All the food came out promptly, hot and with a smile. These students are a credit to the restaurant and college. We will go again!Oh BTW, £44.50 for two 3 course meals with drink, 2 pints of cider and 2 glasses of wine.

Recommended by a friend so we booked for lunch and we were not disappointed. 3 courses and two drinks less than £20 for two of us and every mouthful was lovely. Service was OK but don't expect silver service, at the end of the day they are still students. Perfect for the price ☺

Very nice meal served by students.I have been to this restaurant several times and always been satisfied with the food and it is nice to help train the students on what to expect when they get a real job in a restaurant.

We visited Scene 1 early in October and we were extremely impressed by the high levels of staff professionalism, excellent food and laid back but focused atmosphere. This is top class training for a new generation of restaurant personnel and we will definitely return.

We were pleased to receive a letter from East Durham College to announce the re-opening of Scene 1 restaurant for the new term. We have enjoyed meals here in the past & those standards have been maintained. This popular restaurant has a pleasant ambience & is open for dinner on Tuesdays ( Bistro style 6pm to 9pm ) & Thursdays ( 'fine dining' 6pm-8.45pm ), term time only. Lunches are also available Wednesdays, Thursdays & some Fridays from 12pm-2pm.The food is very good, reasonably priced & beautifully presented by Level 2 & 3 students, giving them valuable experience. The restaurant can accommodate up to 40 & is fully licensed.

Restaurant Style,well laid out room,Have the three course.Food was well cooked and presentation was excellent.It is high class food for the Students who are in training.Well worth a visit if in area.

Visited this college specifically to try out their restaurant, whilst attending a business appointment in Peterlee.Stylishly laid out tables, with contemporary theme. The food was amazing value for a low cost price,vegetable satay with peanut sauce for starter, beef curry and rice made from a base of fresh tomatoes, and packed with cardomon seeds and spices, banoffee toffee sundae, which had a nice buttery biscuit base and fresh bananas, without being too sweet as this style of pudding is usually.The cost was around a £5.00. Can't be bad!Well worth a detour off the A19.

Had an amazing great value three course meal.All prepared and cooked by the students to a very high standard, for £6 including a drink.Staff and students all very professional, if you live in or near Peterlee you should give it a try.

I've visited this restaurant on several occasions and always had extremely good value for money. It is based within East Durham College in Peterlee and is ran, in the main part, by catering/hospitality students. The food is lovely and service is excellent and I would recommend a visit to anyone.
