Scene Dining in Manchester

Thank you for the hospitality that I received when visiting your restaurant last Friday for a pre-theatre meal. Food and Menu This restaurant has a diverse menu that caters for various diners including Chicken, Lamb, Vegetarian and even the Seafood lover. For Starters they offer sharing platters. The Veggie one includes Veggie Samosas, Onion Bhajis, Paneer, and the Asian Potato cake. The Meat Sharing platter includes Chicken Tikka, Lamb and other specialities. There are also other tasty individual starters on offer such as Prawn Tikka, Calamari and the Chicken and Red Pepper Samosas to name a few. The Mains consists of classic curry dishes including Chicken Korma, Tikka Masala, Jalfrezi and others. There are also a selection of Biryani dishes with either Lamb, Chicken or Prawn, If you are a fan of Burgers then they offer Chicken or Lamb burgers with a Samosa inside. If you are a fan of the Mixed Grill then that is available too. If you are not a fan of Indian food then there are some Stir Fry and Pasta dishes included in the mix. Your meal can also include a range of sides including a selection of Rice, Naan Bread which includes Garlic, Cheese, or Meat. Fries and or Sweet Potato Fries are also part of the side dishes too. The Dessert menu has a great variety of sweet treats from Chocolate Fondant, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Lemon Cheesecake, Biscoff Cheesecake and even a Chocolate Mousse. It caters for all with different levels of sweet lover in mind. The Vegetarian Platter was beautifully presented. The Vegetarian Samosas were delicious. Crispy buttery pastry on the outside and a soft filling with Potato and peas on the inside. The Paneer was crispy and cheesy in flavour. The Onion Bhajis were comforting to eat and were crispy on the outside. The Potato Cake was soft, with fluffy potato and it melted in the mouth. The Calamari was tasty and sweet with a dash of honey on top. This elevated it to another level and added depth of flavour. For the Mains the Chicken Korma was fragrant and full of aroma. A rich indulgent Coconut sauce with big succulent pieces of Chicken that was tender and that awakened the palette. The Rice was soft and fluffy that was not hard at all. It complemented well with the fragrant Curry. The Garlic Naan was soft, had a great flavour of Garlic and was moorish to eat. The portions are great for sharing at Scene. Drinks They have a lovely small selection of Mocktails and my favourite is the Strawberry Dream. It is both punchy in flavour and sweet at the same time. Service The service was great. Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and accommodating to my needs. The food came pretty quick without waiting too much. All the food was freshly cooked and was beautifully presented. Lighting and Access The lighting at this restaurant is OK but we sat next to the window which gave natural light. However, during the Winter the lighting is quite dim so people with visual impairments may need assistance. Access to the restaurant is good as there are no steps to enter the building and everything is on one floor which helps. Parking Parking is available at Byron Street car park which is pay and display but it is free for Blue Badge holders. It is then just a short walk from there. Alternatively you can park at NCP Spinningfields. Pricing In general most of the food are reasonably priced apart from some dishes that are a bit pricey. Sharing the food however may help if you are trying to reduce costs. If you love Indian food that is fragrant and is full of flavour in a great atmosphere then Scene Indian Street Kitchen is the perfect place for you.

Amazing authentic Indian food,immaculate restaurant and brilliant service. I really enjoyed the fish and the mixed grill. Can’t wait to go again

Came for a birthday meal, starters were nice however main courses were sweet had a disgusting aftertaste and curries had a thick texture unlike a curry, asked the supervisor to take one of the dishes off the menu who got aggressive with me, told me “it’s not for Asian people” as it was mild I told man I didn’t want anything spicy but this was sweet and thick and gloopy he proceeded to keep ask me why I didn’t like it and then aggressively took the dish and gave me the menu and said to ‘choose something else then’. He towers over me huffing and puffing I had come for my friends birthday and we were all sick of this man’s attitude he made us all very anxious to the point we couldn’t finish our food. Asked another waiter for the manager however by 11pm still no sign of manager. HORRIBLE behaviour from this man! DO NOT RECOMMEND! Spend your money elsewhere!

Scene was a booking for 5 people with our company, one of which we were celebrating a birthday for. In general, the place is nicely decorated and provides a good atmosphere, the food (mains and sides) are tasty and in our opinion fairly priced. We all started with ordering a drink each and then the mains and sides. All of these we're great, no complaints there. Managing to catch a waiters attention to order additional drinks however was a myth, we were only provided one drinks menu to begin with which was then taken away from us. We didn't have a particular waiter taking care of the table (even though the restaurant was quiet as this was Tuesday early evening) and we just had to sort of flag down whoever we could when they were passing. with additional drinks ordered this meant that each person had a total of 2 drinks each. After the food was finished and the plates had been cleared we were then offered the option of a dessert, to which we all said yes we would like to order a dessert... we were given 1 menu between us all which was just dropped on the table as a waiter walked past. The deserts were disappointing, we all ordered something different and 3/5 arrived first, some of which arrived with the wrong sides like ice cream etc with no explanation. after 10 minutes the 4th dessert arrived but no sign of the fifth, when it did finally arrive with no apology even though we had to ask twice where the last one was, it was awful. That aside, we asked for the bill. Again, the bill was just dropped on the table. On closer inspection they had added on around 5 cocktails that no one even had. When the waiter returned to ask how we would like to pay we mentioned this. The waiter said nothing and took the bill. he returned and it still wasn't correct. I mentioned drink by drink which items were wrong and the response was "yea, I dont know about that" - no apology, nothing. the third time the bill arrived it was delivered with a card machine displaying the balance and that was it, no asking how we would like to pay, no apology... the reviews all seem to speak the same language regarding the service, it's crap to say the least. and it's a shame because it really lets the place down and none of us would return as a result.

This is the first time I visited Scene with my husband. The atmosphere of the restaurant was really welcoming and had amazingly intricate interior, very appealing to the eye!! They have a lovely eating area outside too which again is set up well and gives a nice and relaxing vibe. We asked to move table and the staff (Asif) was extremely accommodating and moved us to a lovely enclosed area, decorated fabulously with flowers and drapes which was perfect as we had come out for our anniversary. (Staff being unaware of this!) Also received a yummy dessert on the house after the meal. All staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a good experience. Food was fantastic alot of effort given to presentation and equally amazing flavours. Had an amazing experience, will definitely be going back. Thankyou to Asif especially for making our meal one to remember. He is an asset to this establishment!

It's the service. The staff are so rude especially the man taking care of the shisha outdoors. It ruins everything.

Let's get the good stuff out of the way first. Scene looks lovely, Hindi movie posters, real street food vibe. But that's as good as it gets. Let's go through just what a letdown Scene is. First, we get stale popaddums; this is not a good start as an introduction to your dining experience, oh dear. Also getting served was quite a chore. We waited quite a while for drinks to be served (should be the first thing offered as you sit down) and had to actually get up from our table to order something. Exceptionally poor. We went on a Friday evening, but Scene is so big, it takes a lot of people to fill it up. So without a full house, or even a quarter full house, you are left feeling adrift in an echoey, empty room. They need to screen parts off until they fill, then open up each other part as more customers arrive. When you're in a room set for 100 people and there are 12 of you, once again it doesn't make for a good feeling. Then there's the music...So Scene are promoting a street food vibe but each time we've been (and this was the last) they play endless 90s r'n'b. Nothing wrong with that, but not in a restaurant that's promoting its desi credentials. It's like going to a Japanese restaurant and they're playing spaghetti western film soundtracks. Hardly helps the ambience. Finally, the portions and the prices; delicious, yes, but tiny portions, overpriced. Their vegetable side dishes cost the same as most other restaurants' main veg dishes. My king prawn karahi was way over the usual prices elsewhere and again, a tiny portion. But if you're happy with bad service, overpriced portions and endless 90s r'n'b on a loop, then you'll be in heaven. Somewhere in Scene there's the possibility of a great restaurant, but these basic errors let it down. And if they change one thing, please, change their tune, quite literally. Desi street food needs the correct musical ambience and Brandy & Monica, wonderful though they are, isn't the soundtrack. So come on, set the scene, Scene.

Poor service and bland tasteless food. Think this place is highly over rated and overpriced Will not be returning any time soon!

I came across this place on instagram and it looked so lovely, like the SCENE! However it’s not all what it advertises I’m very disappointed. The staff are rude they don’t even come over when it’s not even busy. The food it’s self bland tasteless and stale! We ordered chicken tikka as a starter and it was rock hard. Ordered dosa the filling was like it had hard lentils in. Paid £60 for 1 side dish 2 starters 1 dosa popadoms salad tray naan and chips overly priced rubbish food! We won’t be coming back at all!

Superb venue, the staff were extremely friendly and the food was amazing, Indo Chinese is amazing, chicken madras with noodles. Genius. The cheese nan is also worth a mention. Delicious

Went with a group of 11 friends on a busy Saturday evening. Very large and busy restaurant but this did not stop excellent service and the food was delicious. We had the £35 set menu and everything was beautifully presented and so tasty. The lamb korai was especially delicious and I can still remember it now.

Food was really nice and there’s quite a large selection of drinks which is good. Staff are very polite and friendly. Only thing I would say is that the bills could do with being more clear. Whoever wrote our cost breakdown did it illegibly which was an issue as me and my friend were paying for what we ordered separately.

We visit whenever we are in Manchester. From service to food it’s always incredible. We can’t come to Manchester and not visit here. We love Asif fries. Our favourite spot, all the staff members are so friendly and professional. Service is important to us and their service really sets the bar high. Thankyou

Nice restaurant and good service. I've been here a few times before when visiting Manchester, but this time, the food was just about average. Taste was not great and could be much better.

Not worth going here at all, service is worse than poor. Food is also average, they should take a leaf out of Dishooms page. Also be sure to triple check your order with the waiters, they’re pretty forgetful.

Absolutely beautiful food - great choice and very reasonably priced. Staff were very pleasant and hard working- big shout out to waitress with curly black hair !

Visited Friday 14th May, great set up, lovely outdoor atmosphere, staff are so polite and can't do enough. Food is fab, really tasty. Can also recommend the signature cocktails!

We were served by Ibaad, who provided great service along with the host and many other staff at Scene. The food was delicious and so were the cocktails :).

The service was great! Ibaad in particular who served us was lovely! We had an amazing time and so was the food and cocktails!! Reasonable prices! Would definitely recommend.

Been here a few times travelling an hour to get there has always been worth it Booked a table for 8.30 waiting for over half n hour to be seen our fast had already opened in the que no remorse for people who are fasting or to even sit them down even though table was previously booked. After waiting 40 mins and no table no food ordered we left.Avoid !

This is a regular restaurant that we visit and I consider it a good option. It has lots to offer including its Riverside location and an interesting and diverse menu.Our seating was outside because it had to be but they’re done as good a job as possible really of making it a warm and cosy environment. Heaters were everywhere and it was quite sheltered.The lamb in one of our dishes was very tough so I mentioned it to the waiter and it was swapped for an equivalent chicken dish with no fuss at all. I must say, the service throughout was excellent especially Emanuel who always really looks after us and is a lovely guy.The rest of the food was really nice and contributed to a really nice evening overall.

I have been to scene approximately 15-20 times and this is by far the worst service I have received. I ordered a Tikka Masala but was given a Korma. I asked for chutney which I never got. I also asked to move seats so my pregnant wife could be closer to a heater to which I was told by a waiter "No, the boss is grumpy today and will bollock me". I was honestly so shocked. When I went to pay for my bill the water asked me if everything was okay, I said no the food was wrong and I wasn't happy with the level of service. The waiter simply replied "you can wait to speak to the boss but it'll be about half an hour". I scoffed and left.

I always come here with my friends, atleast twice a week that particular day My friend ordered for all of us and sat back down. During the end of the visit when she went to go pay. One of the managers said oh I didn’t like your friend(about me) and laughed. I never saw this guys face or spoke to him in my life, to this day very confused as to why staff think they can talk about customers like that? Never came here again.

The first restaurant I went to and still amazing food great outdoor seating amazing thank you and want to thank you to summit for great fast service when no one around to take my order as I seen other staff ignored me three times

Lovely place with remarkable service and food. The menu is plenty of tasty food, well done and served. Nice drinks (surprisingly a very nice 'Caipirinha'). Everybody was very kind and made their best to make us feel as comfortable as possible. Portions are generous and all the dishes carefully balanced and treated.

I don’t usually write reviews but after visiting Scene last night with my boyfriend I felt I need to share our great experience. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food is honestly the best we have ever tasted. The chef even took the time to come and speak to us mid service because we couldn’t compliment the food enough. The lovely lady that looked after us all night picked up on the fact that we were out for my boyfriends birthday and surprised him with cake and a firework candle and all the staff including the chef sang happy birthday to him. The whole experience was amazing and really made our night. If you haven’t been to this restaurant then you are seriously missing out, I am quite a fussy eater and I couldn’t recommend this place enough

Great food, wide range of starters and street food. Outstanding service, can only assume things have improved since their last review.

Went out with my partner for dinner on Sunday night. There were a lot of staff working and it was not wildly busy. We sat down at 8, no one served us for 25 minutes and the waiter only approached us because we caught his attention. That was the mood for the whole evening. We ordered some starters that on the menu were clearly indicated: while you wait....Those arrived after the main course and only after I chased the waiter for them. We did not start eating till almost 9pm. Tables super small, dirty glasses/dishes do not get picked up to clear out the table a little. Needless to say, no one asked us how the meal was or of we needed anything else throughout the evening.Food was fine, but service disappointed so much, it definitely was not worth it. I wouldn't be back again. Cannot imagine what chaos happens there on the busier nights.

Food is always great here.Love the lamb chops, samosa chaat and the kebabs!Butter chicken for mains with garlic bread is a MUST!It's just a shame that the shisha service is SO bad. They are clearly understaffed. We ate inside and then went out for the shisha. We were there 2 hours because everything took so long. When i got up the 3rd time to ask for something .. The waiter (who was very polite and friendly) suggested i talk to the manager if we were not happy. When i spoke to the manager (as we were paying) he really did NOT care at all. It was so awkward... His attitude ruined it.Everybody else was lovely!!

A restaurant that has been on my list of places to visit for a while but not got round to it. We had pre-booked a table so got sat down immediately. The restaurant setting & ambience was on point really nice. When it came to seating we asked to sit bit further away as the waited seated us right in front of the kitchen at the outset. The restaurant wasnt very full at this point. We asked if we could have a booth but was advised no that was for party of 6. Just 10 mins after we sat down another waiter sat a party of 2 on two different booths. It wasnt a great start.A different waiter came to take our order & he wasnt the most friendliest, he was short & abrupt. We asked for the chicken tikka masala & he advised this was a sweet dish with coconut milk. I have never heard chicken tikka masala was a sweet dish but didnt want to disagree with the waiter. We asked for another chicken dish & asked if it would be breast meat. His reply was abrupt in “if it was anything other than breast would state on the menu”. I understand this but his tone wasnt the best.I asked about drinks, he replied drinks menu is there, which was on the table but the restaurant was so dark inside you couldnt even read any of the menus. I had to use my mobile phone torch to read anything. My bad i didnt see drinks menu as it was the same colour as the table hence camouflaged.The food i would rate was very nice & tasty both the starters & main. The main was a little on the spicy side but overall a good choice.At no point during our visit did anyone come over to ask if everything was okay or if we needed anything. Usually in restaurants of this type there is the general etiquette & customer service.I was truly left disappointed from my visit to somewhere i had expected better. It was as if they were very busy and had no time for.Safe to say i will not be visiting again or recommending based on the customer service we received. I regard restaurants of this nature should pride themselves on excellent food & very good customer service. I would never leave a bad review & add the food was very nice but the customer service let us down quite somewhat on this occasion

I’ve eaten at a number of Indian restaurants in the uk and India but I’ve never tasted food like this. 10/10

Food lovely,staff fantastic, unfortunately some thought it was unacceptable to wear face coverings when walking around restaurant, it is mandatory if you get up from your table you must cover your face, when challenged to staff was told you must speak to manager, as people were asked to cover face, but took no notice, unfortunately, there was a certain amount of people that thought they could take the piss, manager was doing her best but no joy, people do not understand the virus is a killer and need to obide by the rules, very uncomfortable, I'm afraid.

The atmosphere in scene was amazing thanks to hamza for the amazing playlist that he also shared with us and the great customer service by him👍🏼

i have visited scene previously around 2 years ago, food was nice and environment was lovely. we visited last night for my birthday meal and we had no waiter checking up on us, it was a table for 5 adults . there was no room on the table to leave the food we had to keep clearing it as there was no room on it. when the waiter bought the food out he was also confused as to where the food was to be placed. i asked for ketchup with the steak and and waited while as he had forgotten all about it and the remainder of myfamily had already eaten their starters when my ketchup arrived .and then later had a waiter who came round and asked if everything was well and we mentioned how the table was very small but he started telling us he’s sorry and he’s been busy making cookie dough in the back!

This was the first time we had been here & it definitely won’t be the last. The food is amazing, the staff were lovely & the place was fab, we loved it. Felt very safe with all the covid restrictions in place, very comfortable. Thank you xx

So much to choose from on the menu, so plenty to make everyone happy even the fussy eaters! Was a busy Saturday night so had a nice buzz to it. Unfortunately the customer service let it down big time. We sat down and were asked to order within a minute of sitting down. With how large the menu is, would take anyone at least five minutes to look through it let alone deciding what to order. Only 2 of us, we ordered several starters and no main courses. Took over 40 minutes for food to arrive, a simple apology would have gone a long way. The entire meal passed by without being asked whether everything was ok. Anytime we needed any kind of service, i.e. for extra drinks, extra food, desserts etc, we had to continuously look for the staff member and wait for some time. Overall, great food and lots of choices on the menu but customer service needs to be worked on which seems to be a common recurring theme from having read a few other reviews.

Worst restaurant I have ever been to. Im disgusted with the customer service. Me and my fiancé went for his 30th birthday. We waited for 40 minutes, no food, no drinks and no shisha, like we ordered. When the food arrives, the waiter tells us that we ordered a mix grill when on his tray it was prawns and chicken curry. We still had no drinks or shisha. When we confronted the manager she was obnoxious and careless. She said that there was nothing she could do. The worst part is the manager wanted to say she will take off the drinks and shisha off the bill, but why would we pay for something we didn’t even get? No gesture of goodwill, or even a simple apology. Just attitude! When I asked of how to report a complaint they shrugged it off and told us to pay the bill and leave. I will definitely be taking matters further as that was supposed to be a day for celebration but turns out they do not care about customer service.

We met our friends outside for drinks and food, delvina kept the drinks coming and amazing service with a smile what an asset she is to your team. Thankyou delvina.

Came yesterday with a couple friends and I just want to say it was amazing, the place the service and the food. I want to say I big thanks to the waiter looked after me which was hamza he was a lovely guy with great customer service and he did everything he could to look after us during the busy time so again thanks again.

Soon we walked in OMG waiting area leather sofas are Ripped took us to the table the area was too dark we order lamb chop as a starter and pani puri, pani puri never came and instead of 3pc chop we got 2pc I will never go there again service was so bad , multi million business but can’t afford to to replace a nice sofas

I ordered a spicy curry but it wasn't spicy. It tasted bland like something I can just cook at home myself.My friend said his dosa was okay but he had better, and the meat platter was also just okay. However, the atmosphere is beautiful Instagramable, and nice waiters. They did temperature checks which is a plus and made us all wear hand sanitiser

Can’t fault food, vibe and exceptional service. But One thing that put me off is staff do not get the tips that are left. If the service was poor then I wouldn’t leave a tip, but staff that served my family were all lovely and accommodating so felt sad that they don’t get tips... the owners should put on the bill that please do not leave tips as customers give it for those that served them and not to line the owners pockets!

The restaurant is located in Spinningfields so I assumed it would be good as I had also seen many people eating at this establishment too. Upon entering we had to wait to wait despite making reservations. Main front of house staff was rude and gave us attitude. The young staff especially the females were shouting at colleagues. We had to ask for cutlery and even then we were only given one set. After we finished we wanted dessert and had to wait a long time for the menu. The atmosphere is very loud but the place is nice and the food is average.

Food and service was amazing.. staff was super friendly. Would recommend the lamb chop and chicken wing.

After all the Government have said and the guide lines these premier establishment have to abide by, Scene Indian Street Kitchen has not just followed them but they have gone above and beyond to make sure all customers stay safe during their visit to Scene. From the second you approach the main entrance. These guys are taking your safety very seriously. Masks on! Temperature checks, de-sanitation of your clothes as you go through the smoke booth. The separation of the tables gives us a little privacy which is good. The food is still amazing and the service is second to non! Thanks to the hard work of Asif, Katy and the whole Scene team, who have done an amazing job in making the atmosphere and the setup as safe as possible. Love these guys... ❤️❤️❤️

Highly recommended,first time going for my daughters birthday, staff had a sense of humour,service was amazing staff were lovely and cheerful, raz looked after us and made us feel so welcome definatly returning, overall an amazing experience

I’m really impressed that the restaurant doin so well while following all the rule for social distance !! I love the Way they disinfecting people on the arrival , well done and staff is working very hard to make sure everything goes smooth while keeping covid rules to follow

Went a couple of days ago and although it took a bit longer to get seated for Food and Shisha I was pleasantly surprised by the precautions they take - Temperature checks, hand sanitizer and walking through an airport style steam system. Shisha is okay, and food not bad. I think it's more a shisha spot as the restaurant part inside looks a bit tired.

To start this review I should say we love this restaurant. We have been dozens of times since it opened and have never left disappointed. Until this latest visit.There are still lots of positives about it. The virus protection was superb and you go through an airport style gate to get disinfected before you go in after your temperature has been taken. This is the best we’ve seen of all the places we’ve been to in Manchester recently.The staff are professional, very friendly and do everything to make your visit to good one. Unfortunately, there are certain areas that let it down.We wanted to sit outside by the river but this area is no used for Shisha pipes which have an overpowering and unpleasant smell to us. Why not just leave this at the front as it was before?The restaurant looks a bit rundown and our table with sticky which was offputting but we were told it was the polish. Finally, the food was only average this time which really surprised us.Previously, the dishes are bursting with intensity of flavour. This time my mince and pea curry was okay and the lamb with spinach the same. Nothing really wrong with them but definitely lacking flair.We will of course go back as we like this place but it probably won’t be for a while now

Really disappointed as there was late service and also as I got there the management was really poor as I sat down with my family one lady I think she was the manager she was telling off a staff member who just severed my food and he gave us great service I even spoke to him even tho he got told off for no reason As i seen and the rest of the tables too he didn’t even say a bad thing about the restaurant and stilled worked on happily just want to say thank you to summit for the great service he gave as no one else did

Changing over from food to shisha was quite annoying. A system should be in place for that. Different staff told us different things. The little shisha guy was more interested in smoking his pipe and taking to girls than actually serving us. We was just standing on the shisha bit lost waiting for him to acknowledge us but he took about 5 minutes and we seated ourselves by that time. Then he didn’t apologise or anything he just asked us what are we doing. We told him a colleague told us to go out here. He wanted us to go back inside so he could seat us which was even funnier because if had seated us when he was flirting then that wouldn’t be a problem. Three stars because the food was amAzing and good service was good. Table for 5 is quite small but nonetheless the guy at the front is quality aswell the one doing all the checks

We came to Scene as we knew that they were partaking in the 50% off Eat Out to Help Out scheme. I had been wanting to try scene for a while. Got off to a bit of a bad start as we were stood waiting outside a while to be taken to our tables. When we finally were greeted we were advised that the 50% off only applies to a limited menu which was a fraction of the size of the normal menu. This wasn’t advertised anywhere on their website or on social media. By the time we actually had received any drinks the time was 6.40pm and we had arrived at 6pm. Luckily the starters came out fairly quickly after ordering, as in within about 5 minutes. This suggests to me that the food perhaps wasn’t that freshly cooked. The starters were tasty however. We had onion bhajis and lamb seekh kebab. For the mains, I had wanted to choose a curry from the (very limited) menu which stated it had chicken thigh meat in it. I asked to change this to chicken breast, but this wasn’t allowed apparently. I opted for something else called Dhaba Murgh. This curry was actually very nice. We also had chicken makhani which we really enjoyed. I must add that chicken makhani was listed on the small menu twice, meaning there were even less options than initially anticipated. We had a garlic naan and chips (which we paid full price for as this isn’t on the “special” menu) as well as one boiled and one basmati rice. In all fairness all of the food was very nice. Although we had to ask three times for the chips to come and we kept getting told they were on their way. On the final attempt of asking, when we were half way through our meal, we were asked “oh, do you want to order chips?”. No, we just wanted the chips we had ordered. One more concerning thing about the service is I saw a waitress bringing a piece of cake over to another table. The cake fell onto its side on the plate, and I witnessed her pick it up with her bare hands to make it stand up again. Luckily the customer noticed and asked her to being a fresh one. But that was quite alarming. When we tried to pay we were advised we couldn’t pay separately as we were dining with the 50% off scheme. Not sure what difference that makes to wanting to split the bill? All in all the food was nice but the service has purely let Scene down. I don’t think I will visit again.

The customer service along with the food is disgusting ! I was told that if my 1 year old child can’t socially distance then we will be asked to leave ! The waiter was rude and obnoxious ! When I told him I found his tone offensive and aggressive, He replied saying I’m not apologising I haven’t done anything wrong’. When asked to speak to the manager , she apologised but whilst speaking to her , another member of staff appeared and told my husband to come outside where he will ‘kill him’. The manager stood there and did nothing , whilst other members of staff pushed him away from my husband. On top of this the food was bland and tasteless! The didn’t even offer a discount for the service we received - the manager insisted we pay the full bill of £130 ! My sister in law recorded the whole incident which showed the member of staff trying to attack my husband ! This is the worst restaurant in Manchester and I do not recommend it ! We will be going to the newspaper as they are willing to run the story !

This is the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. My brothers and I had travelled from London to Manchester yesterday and wanted to try this restaurant due to its mix of shisha and Indian food. We were welcomed by a Covid-19 sanitising machine, which was good. It's after that it went so downhill. We were seated outside and chose to sit near the heater as it was cold. The heater was not switched on instantly which was strange. It was only when we asked if we could have the heater switched on were we informed that there isn't any "gas pipe" (as said by a waiter) for it to work. Then came "ALI". This waiter was one of the worst waiters I have met. When he came to take our order he seemed irritated and uninviting instantly and when we asked about the set menu he just said the price (and didn't help). After he went, he stayed inside. We asked one of his colleagues about ALI and she said "he's like that". When we asked her (a waiter) about the old fashioned cocktail, she did not know the answer and proceeded to say the whisky is probably "a Irish whisky". She would later go and ask and tell us its a bourbon and wished us luck with the whisky. Yes thats right, she wished us luck (we were worried that it was going to be made by ALI). I want to add that grabbing hold of a waiter was very difficult as they stayed inside and didn't come to clear any of our plates or glasses (until we requested 3 times). Now if it was busy we could maybe understand but the waiter said that "it is not busy". THE only person that actually helped us was the shisha person "Rasheed". He was constantly inviting and actually spoke to us and tended to our table. When we asked what was the problem with all the other staff we were informed that basically everyone was new. But even then, our issues weren't just with the employees menu knowledge but also with their common manners and politeness. Finally the cherry on the top of this horrible visit, was that the "hand written receipt" was difficult to understand and confusing. When we asked one of the employees to explain it we saw that we had been charged extra for our "nachos" (so please double check your bill before you pay here. Our bill came up to £122, so essential the food prices should include good service and quality. We only ordered starters and two shisha, we would have stayed for mains but we were so disgusted by this experience we thought we'd go somewhere where the customers are actually treated well. Having worked in the hospitality industry many times I can excuse times when the service or food may not always go right, however this visit and experience was not acceptable. I would never recommend anyone to visit here.

The staff here are so nice - we asked to move tables when we were later seated outside and as soon as one came available our request was fulfilled.Customers are temperature checked, required to sanitise and there is a booth which sprays clothing - this was probably the cleanest place we went in Manchester and just gave us peace of mind. We had the grand thali and although it does look like you dont get much of each portion - we had loads as leftovers and everything tasted amazing!Mocktails were also lovely!Shisha was great, although it did take a while for our coals to get changed first time round but after that the staff were tentative. Lovely experience would definitely recommend and visit again.

Went last night after being recommended to try.First impressions were good, temp taken, had to go via booth to be sprayed which was all thumbs up from me.Taken to the table by a lady then thats when it started to go down hill. Waitress took my order and I thought it was 2 4 1 on the cocktails and I did mention this to her she seemed to agree. After further inspection I had read the times wrong, I did think this would have been picked up by them but hey ho never mind. We must have had 4-5 different servers which came to the table. Suggestion for the company, please allocate 1 waiter/waitress for a designated area. Therefore no continuity for services.Starters came and we all thoroughly enjoyed them.Mains...All came however my husband and my dish was onky luke warm. We did inform them that we felt it wasn't warm enough. Albeit it was offered to be taken away, we declined, i didn't want to eat my meal after everyone else's.We were offered free desert but again declined. We then had another 3 members of staff come to the table. By this time I was fed up with them all coming. Sorry wont return, over priced for mediocre food. I can get better quality and cheaper from pur local restaurant.

I feel compelled to write this review. WOW!! There’s not enough stars on trip advisor for this place. 1st you are greeted very warmly. You are the disinfected head to toe airport style. This gave us soo much confidence dining in with the pandemic situation. The venue is self is unreal. We travelled from Newcastle to eat here. We sat outside on the terrace lovely vibes and great atmosphere. The food please just go try this place that’s all I can say. The service friendly, warm, inviting and make you feel at home as well as being very professional. Honestly I don’t think words do this place justice. Oh yea they have shisha for me is a must as it’s a lovely way to chill after your meal. Thank you everyone for your hospitality regards khaled

Has a great and save meal at The Scene on Wednesday. The food was of its usual high standard and the management and staff did everything necessary to protect their customers and themselves in this post COVID-19 environment.

This was a really great meal! Every bite and every course for the whole table was perfect; the sort of meal you talk about for ages. I had the chicken Dosa starter; I have had Dosa around the world and I am really fussy - this was utterly perfect. Had I known it would be that good I would have skipped a main and had two or three. Would have been a pity to have missed the main because they were excellent; spiced perfectly to provide a chilli high but not so hot as to obscure the delicious flavour of the sauces. As I type I want more even though I could not eat another bite. Service was bang on we had a fun waitress who really made sure we all had exactly what we wanted. We will go again and, for my part I would order exactly the same meal again.

Absolutely fantastic. It was mine and my sisters first meal out since lockdown and it was did not disappoint. Everything from staff to the food were exceptional (special shout out to Ali/Emmanuel). Thank you so much for making our evening so wonderful, it was our first time at Scene but it won’t be our last. Keep up the good work guys.

The quality of the food, especially the starters, is excellent. The service is great, the prices are reasonable when compared with quality and amount of food served on the plate. The ambience of very good without being too noisy. In overall a very enjoyable experience.

This is a restaurant we have used many times over the years and it never disappoints. It has a fantastic atmosphere whenever you go and some lovely tables outdoors by the river when the weather is nice enough.I must mention the service. The young guy with the big hair from Eritrea is a superstar. Professional, friendly and very efficient.The food is there it and I have no idea, Being an enthusiastic amateur curry making myself, where they get the depth of flavour from. The lamb with spinach was amazing as was the Tandoori fish.The prices are very reasonable and the restaurant itself lovely. A return visit isn’t far away.

We went for a quiet after work meal Tasty chilli lamb in peppers and tomato sauce was very tender and hit the right spot and their yoghurt lasso was very refreshing

Pleasant surrounding and atmosphere with friendly staff who were accommodating to our larger party. Food was too spicy, even the calmer chicken tikka had a kick. Lots of our party couldn’t finish the food and I lost my voice later in evening.Toilets were not very clean, wet toilet paper on floor, a teapot on the floor in cubicle and a bad smell.Was ok for a one off, but personally I won’t be going back Im afraid.

Tasty, busy good atmosphere, best curry for a long time worth the trip.Bhagis were the nicest but quite hot for me. Had the Biriani which was delicious. Looking forward to going back and trying a different curry. Staff were attentive and good to be able to see the kitchen.

Absolute hilarious moment when we tried to go to slug and lettuce next door and ended up at scene and didn't even notice we just kept commenting on what an unusual slug and lettuce it was... the outdoor space for scene and slug and lettuce blend together very well. Anyways, we proceeded to have our drink in what we realised was the restaurant waiting area! You've got to laugh! Now I have read the reviews I definitely want to actually try this restaurant out for the food! But for now, average waiting area and average drinks.

After being amazed by the service and food on previous occasions and leaving a positive review the last time i visited Scene with the family. I felt a new review was much deserved. The service and food we had on this occasion surpassed all the previous visits. This time my youngest son, who turned 11 decided he wanted the family to enjoy his birthday at Scene. I contacted Scene for the booking which they accommodated without any hitch. We were welcomed by the staff as we made our way through the restaurant. Everyone had a smile and warm welcome. We were seated straight away and given the new menu that is now being served. Even having starters at Scene is amazing in its own right. The selection of afghani chicken to chicken wrapped with cheese and a garnish of pomegranate seeds on the top give it that wonderful colour to the dish and the succulent chicken under that cheese is a mouthwatering combination to say the least. Katy the manager asked what was the occasion, my son explained it was his birthday and that there was only 1 place he wanted to spend it. Katy asked me if it was ok if she organised a special surprise for him. It was not what I expected! Yet it was such a wonderful touch that I had to share it. She sent over 2 mock-tail jugs with sparklers firing out of the handles. With the staff singing “Happy Birthday”. My son was over the moon with how he was treated by the staff and the management. The food was spectacular again and service is 5 star. They have set the benchmark to become the best Indian restaurant in manchester and boy have they accomplished it. Not with just how good their freshly prepared dishes are served, but how they serve it to the customer. Scene’s Indian Street Kitchen has just got better. The staff complete and complement the restaurant in so many different ways, that the full experience is necessary to experience if your looking to eat out in manchester. We really enjoyed the occasion and are already looking forward to making another booking for my other sons birthday. Hopefully we will be surprised even more the next time we visit. Thank to staff and the management who made my sons birthday very special. ❤️

Called in a lunchtime for an unscheduled meal. Fantastic staff and brilliant food at a very reasonable price

We came on a Thursday afternoon for lunch and both opted for a platter each. The platters are very reasonably priced (£9.00 or thereabouts). With several items on the platter, that is more than enough for most people. The service was quick, food tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Would definitely recommend to others and looking forward to trying the evening menu next time. Spot on.

Came here with a group of friends on a Thursday night and the restaurant was fairly busy. We were nicely taken to our table and told about the 50% off menu, which sounded delicious...

Not a great place when busy. Food was not all that. Starter was not presented or cut into pieces as previously experienced. Service was a bit slow. Food not made up to their normal standards.

Scene Indian Street Kitchen has to be the best Indian Restaurant in Manchester by far. The atmosphere they have created within the restraunt is second to none! The staff are always welcoming and are happy to help when making choices on the menu. Asif the manager took time to speak to us, which shows they care about feedback from there customers. He was explaining the meat and ingredients were delivered on a daily basis. This is clearly evident in the quality and taste of their dishes. Also seeing into the kitchen, just shows that nothing is cooked behind closed doors. All staff are all clean and well presented. The kids really enjoy the Mocktails they offer, and the desert menu after having all that delicious food is a must. The selection from Cake to Asian sweet dishes caters for all. Washed down with some Fresh Mint Tea or Coffee makes it all with while. Thanks to Asif, Katy and all the staff at Scene for looking after us and treating us fantastically. Keep up the good work and we will be visiting again soon.

Delicious food, service was very quick (it was a Monday though!) and generous portions. I loved the food though, would recommend seeking this place and eating your heart out!

As my family and I walked in the greeting was just ordinary and they looked confused.

Visited with family and friends and had a really good night. Appetisers were good, a tad on the expensive side but quality and quantity of food very good and tasty. The group had various meals, chicken tikka masala, vegetable curry, saag, lamb etc and all the group were impressed. Lots of freshly cooked tasty food. The chefs are busy cooking in the back ground. Service very good. Prices mid range but well worth a visit. Would recommend and also would return.

Having eaten here now several times since our first visit we have never left feeling disappointed, everybody we have taken to Scene - family & friends - have all returned with their friends also. Tucked away on the edge of Spinningfields its not got a wow factor of an entrance and can be off-putting by the people smoking outside, however, once inside the service and food never fails to impress and surprise you - also an added bonus for a Manchester city centre restaurant of this standard it is also fantastic value for money

Stumbled over this restaurant, looking for somewhere to eat. Wow, absolutely wow. The service, and food combined were amazing. Our waitress was the most helpful genuine person, helping us with our choices, plus her food knowledge was fantastic. The food itself, so so tasty, and delicious. I feel like I’ve found a real gem. Of course, we will return.

We reached at 4pm and was waiting in the lobby for 15mins. The employees were walking crossing us but would not respond even when we asked if the restaurant was really open! We didnt expect this in a fine dining restaurant! Then the manager came and welcomed us, we were seated and ordered for food. Dryer would not work in the toilet and a roll of tissue was left. Couple of the toilets were not clean to use. The ambience was good and food tasted ok but would not be going again.

Been here a bunch of times, never disappointed, but never bowled over either. It’s pretty standard Indian food, but done very well. Good vegan / veggie options. Bit pricey. Not a fan of the naan bread though.

Great atmosphere , lovely food, and friendly staff. We were lucky to be seated in one of the booths rather than in middle of restaurant. Definitely one to try when visiting Manchester.

Tried to book 20 colleagues here for a meal but after being promised a callback twice with no callback to book I gave up and booked elsewhere. They obviously don’t want any business so will go elsewhere in future.

The scene is located outside of main area. Food was ok and service was great but the music was too loud for a restaurant. I would not come back here but maybe ok for others

Based on TripAdvisor reviews my wife visited for the lunchtime thali platter. We were not disappointed. We arrived at 2pm after the lunchtime rush so the restaurant was quiet. We were well received and immediately shown a table. The Thalia were good, no well spiced and tasty. The only downside being the mini nan breeds which had hardened. The drinks prices were very reasonable. Location at the bottom of Spinningfields was good with plenty of bars 8n the vicinities. Overall excellent value for money.

I visited with my son for the third time over about 12 months. I really cannot in any way recognise the negative reviews. The restaurant was spotlessly clean with glasses and cutlery well polished. The food was of a very high standard, served hot, and absolutely delicious. It was clearly all freshly made with high quality ingredients and spices.

I went to the Manchester outlet. Food was very cold and the waiters were not very nice. Never to visit again!

Would highly recommend this place, the staff was so attentive and very friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. The manager was lovely she made us feel so welcome. Will definitely return.
