Scarlet fills the slot for lunchtime Indian and Thai food in the spitalfieds market. Their Indian bento boxes are filling and made well, although they could perhaps add a few more curry options. Their service is top-notch.

This place seems very fancy by walking in, but somehow it is missing a good atmosphere, it seems very cold. The food was fantastic, but as we were a group of students we thought it was a little expensive.

Service rapide.

We tried the indian buffet. The food was ok, not great, it was well done but cold.... good variety, nice place, quiet.... a buffet for less than 10pounds.

We came across Scarlet Spice Bar having wandered through Spitalfields Market . It is a bar in looks. It is spotlessly clean and the food is plentiful and well presented . Service was superb and the whole eating experience was 5*. It appeared that earlier in the day, food could be eaten outside. Lavatories were again spotless although there was poor hot water supply and a less than useless hand drier. I disliked the bill when a service charge of 12.5% was pre added to my bill. This has caused me to downgrade from 5 to 4. Service tipping should be voluntary not presumed. It is nota mechanism to make up underpaid wages which is how I interpret it. If the owners read this then be advised that the day after we chose to spend £50 elsewhere where we could choose to pay what tip we wanted to.

This modern restaurant offering both Indian and Thai cuisine is a surprise find for our family. We enjoyed our lunch there after roaming the weekend Spitafields Market.Being far away from home, it did satisfy our craving for Asian spicy food. Our meal comprised of Mara Masala Salmon (17pounds), Thai Pineapple Fried Rice (10.95pounds), Thai Green Curry King Prawn (12.95pounds), Spicy Aubergine (8.95pounds) and 2 Garlic Naans (5.90pounds). Being a naan lover, I was especially pleased that they were chewy (warm and not hard) and came nicely cut into pieces. The curry was excellent too.Overall, it was a good meal that fired us up and gave us more energy to roam the streets of London. Do note, though, that there is a service charge of 12.5% automatically added to the bill. I only discovered this item much later on the bill after paying for it.

Me and my boyfriend went here for dinner but as soon as we went in we was placed at a table with a broken chair... Anyways we sat down ordered our meal and I asked for a diet coke, the coke was very flat so asked for another one but this time I saw the bar man pour a coke can so when it come I told the guy it was a diet coke. So instead if being fussy I asked for tap water but he brought me a bottle one. When I told the guy 'sorry for having you rub up and down but can I have tap water' as I said that he snatched the bottle and cut his eye. I've never ever been to a restaurant with such bad service especially where they got MY order wrong!!!! Cut long story short me and my partner both walked out and decided to go wagamamas instead. I will never step foot into that place ever again!

Average. Bland. Service was fine but played the classic water bait and switch (making you pay for water.). You are in London. Do better.

Good variety and they were able to make the curry as hot as you like. The water is a tad dear, but the lunch menu is both tasty and sensibly priced! Have visited several times now!

Went for a supper meal as my pal fancied a Thai meal in preference to others in Spitalfields. The meal was distinctly average. I thought for what it was the meal was expensive but I suppose you have to expect that given the location. Modern restaurant very stylish. The staff were excellent and very friendly. Italian and Lithuanian.

This restaurant is situated in Spitalfield which was very handy for me when staying in a hotel opposite. Most of the numerous restaurants there were chains, which I am sure were fine but I like to eat authentic food and support independent restaurants. There was a choice of Thai or Indian food. I chose Thai and had salt and chilli calama to start and num pik pow prawns for main with coconut rice. It was perfectly cooked and presented and the service was second to none; they gave me a complementary drink.

While looking for a bit of quiet at lunch during a pass through Spitalfield Market, we opted for the 9.95 Indian and Thai Buffet here. Such a mistake! Possibly the worst food we've had in a while. Barely reheated frozen vegetables in dreadful sauces that were either over- or under-flavored. Even the polite servers seemed a bit embarrassed. Tip: Don't go.

4pm ish on a Sunday afternoon. A family of 4, we walked in to receive an off hand (even surly) welcome. We chose to eat from the buffet (at £9.95 a head this seemed very reasonable). having grabbed our plates we made our way along the line of hot dishes, disappointment increasing with every step.It started with leathery samosas, thru crunchy rice & soggy cauliflower, ending with chicken tikka masala and another chicken dish that I didn't recognise (as being food). If these dishes had been out for less than an hour I'll eat my "more appetising" hat. There were some cold dishes but by this time I lost any enthusiasm to continue. I asked a waiter if this all we could expect from the buffet and on hearing that it was we beat a hasty retreat across the concourse the the Real Greek restaurant where we had a far more positive dining experience. As a London Cabbie I feel qualified to tell you that there are some fabulous places to eat in this town, sadly this place has a very long, hard road to travel to become one of them

Would my recommend this place. The food is not tasteful and is certainly not authentic Indian food. Most of the curries are sweet rather than spicy. Def one to stay away from.

Must start with the location of this fantastic gourmet restaurant which is convenient as it is walking distance from Liverpool Street Station. As we entered, we received a reasonable welcoming, fairly good service but expected more experienced and trained waiting staff. Great curry, however could be more authentic - still more dishes to discover on next trip! Atmosphere was terrible on Valentines Day, great décor and good experience.

One of the best modern Indian restaurants in the area. Do not bother going to Brick Lane for Indian food and visit this one instead. Restaurant has very good selection of cocktails to accommodate any taste. Happy hour daily from 3:30pm – 7:00pm with 2 for 1 selected drinks from the menu, including some wine bottles and beer. Food selection is modest, but easily compensated with superb quality. They can cook in traditional style making everything spicy or mild depending on your request. Prices are high compared to Brick Lane and other restaurants at Spitalfields market. Recommended to visit during happy hour or with TasteCard.

Not a 5 star experience. Firstly despite an online booking at Cinnamon we were taken to the restaurant next door (Aladin), there was some muttering about having expanded their business but no money has been spent yet on modernising the Aladin establishment. We were then pressured to order our food within 5 mins of sitting down, but even so when our food arrived it was lukewarm at best. Flavour was fairly good but our lamb was tough. When the bill arrived it was hand written and hard to decipher leaving us unsure if we had been charged service / corkage / or even the right number of dishes. We were due a 20% online booking discount and had to ask for this directly. So I can't offer a better score for service.
