Savages Fish & Chips in West Lindsey

Found this chippy close by wood view country fisheries - decent fish and chips battered sausage and peas/ curry. Nothing more to say other than food was nice and as you would expect from a fish and chip shop

We have used the business before and found it OK so thought we'd give it another try. As the kne we normally used wasn't yet open . It had just opened we put our order in and waited. It didn't take long they were very quick and appeared in a rush and off home we went to eat it. Unfortunately it was extremely greasy. The fish was cooked well but the batter had stuck to the paper and what was left was extremely greasy and the fish ended up sitting in alot of oil. We were extremely disappointed and won't be going back I'm afraid.

Great food. Great value and people are friendly and nice. This is my go to for fish and chips and for good reason as there is so much choice and it's delicious! Try for yourself you wont be disappointed!

We have used this takeaway 3 times and have been disappointed each time. We never let one bad experience put us off but sadly twice the food had been cold almost like it has not been heated up thoroughly.

This place never disappoints, we’ve just been back again and are completely satisfied with our meals.. not many chippies even bother catering for veggies but these had great choices..The chips were perfect and the fish was also described as ‘delicious’ and ‘the best they’d ever had’ by visiting family. We’ll definitely be back again! Can’t rate them highly enough and the staff were all extremely friendly and helpful! 👍🏼👍🏼 Well worth the journey south from the north bank of the Humber.. Nothing compares over there!

Called for fish and chips a bit prices £98for cod chips and Mushy Peas but must say tgey we're lovely only thing I asked for scraps but lady didn't put any on scraps make ya fish n chips enjoyed them anyway so didn't mind paying and next time I call I want scraps lol

Freshly fried fish and lovely cooked chips. Very friendly staff. Plenty of choice to go at to please everyone. Love the click and collect option too, great if your in a hurry.

We ordered a Fish and Chip tea online and then it asked us what time we wanted to collect. Arrived just as the order was being placed in the bag. Fish was huge and chips were tasty. Definately recommend.

I have visited this chippy the last 2 Fridays in a row and I have to say I was very upset at the quality. On my first visit I was unprepared for the fish to have no skin but thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt. Each occasion I had the special and while the chips were nice the fish was a different matter. I was unimpressed the first time but the second was even worse. The batter did not stay on the fish and was even undercooked and soggy second time around. Will not be going for a third!!

Had a large chips which was more like a child’s portion. Not enough to share between 2 adults.. Not happy with the portion size at all. Batter sausages where nice.

after visiting Caistor on holiday and finding Savages chippy under refurbishment we were gutted then on Wednesday evening to see it open was perfect.a proper chippy fish chips and peas.PERFECTION..

Have been working along the Humber bank for the last few months and this place has become a favourite. Portion sizes are generous for the price and the fish is delicious. Always get a curry sauce with mine and it really hits the spot.

Used to be good quality but has been declining recently. Chips soggy and undercooked. Batter also soggy and sticks to greaseproof sheet. Fish also undercooked

we found it was expensive and the chip portion sizes were dissapointing even at a large portion. We preffered the chippy near the chines take awawy

Found this gem by chance, was actually looking for a petrol station when I saw a sign for fish n chips and thought why not, really pleased we stopped because the fish n chips plus chips n peas I ordered was excellent plus a cup...

We live in a local village to Caistor and whenever we get the urge to be naughty we pop on over to Savages for sausage, chips and curry sauce. A real treat. Chips are cooked to perfection. Always served with a smile and very efficient....

We have two main outlets for fish and chips and Savages probably just pips it for quality. The fish we had were absolutely perfect. Moist, tasty and perfectly cooked with just the right amount of tasty batter. Both fish and chips were not at all...

Stayed in Caistor for the weekend and was heading to the Co-op for some supplies when noticed this fish and chip shop. £2.75 for Fish and Chips? That can't be right...can it? Yes it is and very nice too. Great value for money!

My husband and I really enjoy the food they sell here my husband loves cod roe and he says it's the best I have never tried the fish because I don't like haddock but I have tried other things and the curry sauce is lovely

Camping nearby and popped to the chippy for tea, yummy battered veg sausages and fishcakes. Busy and deservedly so, reasonably priced.

We had a take away whilst staying in the area. Chips were lovely and the Fish had a nice crispy batter. Would definately recommend.

Great chippy. We go regularly. Has very low price specials and does vegan sausage. Fish is very fresh from Grimsby. Batter is always good and not soggy or too heavy.

If you want top notch fish and chips then this take away is one of the best. Fish is always freshly cooked and skinned so absolutely no waste. The shop is immaculately clean and pride of ownership is obvious. There is also a great range of other products on offer if fish is not your thing I recommend you give it a try.

Lovely food much much better less grease on the chips and sausage great staff well improved food. Was served quick and the food came out beautifully done. I was offered salt and vinager well worth what i paid for i will defently come back here now after the meal i had last time. Fresh tasting and good sized fish, usually busy which is always a good sign. My only negative comment is that sometimes the fish doesn't seem to be properly drained before wrapping and I get home to find a lot of oil in the wrapper which has made the fish/batter go a bit soggy.

Excellent quality fish and chips cooked to order never had better good service and friendly staff. Not greasy and piping hot brilliant mushy peas

The batter on the fish was soggy and was full of oil it was disgusting..The gravy currys ect lids wasn't on properly so was unusable.. this has happened at least the last 3 times we have been.. And when your spending £25 plus on 3 meals you expect better then to be throwing some of your food.. We won't be returning as we have had several bad experiences.

Crispy batter, pure white fish and no soggy chips. Good sized portions at a good price. Excellent service.

We live locally and would recommend Savage's for good food and value for money. The fish and chips are excellent and are cooked to order. Well worth visiting for lunch or evening takeaway meal

this popular Caistor Chippy is worth the trip even if you don't live in Caistor the fish is fried fresh order when you go in top class and value for money

First visit to this fish and chip shop, we had a large Haddock and chips which was cooked to perfection. We will be back next time we are in the area.

Two specials total cost of £3.20 I do not think this place can be beat for value or for quality food and warm and friendly staff.

Good choice of takeaway food fish, chicken etc all freshly cooked and served with a smile. What more could you want.

We popped over for Caistor Bike Night and the smell of fish and chips was constantly being wafted right under our noses so we decided that we had to have some for our tea. Freshly cooked fish but in no way greasy, a decent amount of chips and a good dollop of mushy peas. Very, very tasty and I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the local area

Visiting a local caravan park we always like our fish n chips on a Friday so we tried this place for the first time .Well pleased with the quality and the fair price of the meal .Would go back again ,recommended for the haddock .They have specials on also which are reasonably priced .

Excellent chippy next to the Co-op food store in Caistor, we drive 9 miles from Brigg to obtain the best fish and chips in the area. Everything is speedily and freshly cooked. Lovely batter on the brilliant fish and very good chips, we do not think you can beat Savages anywhere, well worth a detour not open Mondays.

We regularly go to Savages as the fish is always really fresh and the oil they use is always clean .

We always end up travelling via Caistor just to go to Savages for lunch... and when you get lunch for £1.60 each you cannot complain when the food tastes as good as this!

Had sausages and chips take away last night with my family and I couldn't eat the chips when I got home. They were full of grease and Luke warm. My family and I ended up binning the food they all said the same. I now very much doubt I be back here its now the second time the chips were full of grease. Its not good to have thick grease on chips. I won't be back here. I will go else where from now on I'm very disappointed again with the food. To pay for something you can't eat isn't on and its unacceptable. Sorry but this fish and chip take away isn't recommended.

Two of their special lunch meals for £1.60 each add a bread cake and you have a good lunch for under a fiver for two. Great chip shop!

this is the best chip shop you will find in caistor i visit my daughter in boston every sat and always make sure we get back before closing time always a friendly welcome and would highly recommend

Fish and chips cooked while we waited and which we ate in the car. We could not fault the quality or quantity and we will certainly return there again.

As I live in caistor myself I'm only walking distance to caistor market place I only been here once to this fish and chip take away its ok but I brought chips and they had far to much grease and oil on them. Ok value for money but the sauces was extra I was charged 50p for to very small mayo sauces a bit of a rip of really wish I didn't bother. Any way my chips were still hot when I got in my home. I did like the quick service there was three customers in front of me but I was served very fast which was brilliant

If I am in the area and Savages is open (shut Sunday and Monday) I do try and call in for one of their specials as they have never yet let me down on value and quality.

Grimsby born and raised in a chippy...I can honestly say this place is the best around at the moment .quality second to non and they really know how to fry ...don't miss this little gem

Cannot get over this place - meals for £1.60 or £2.75. If I am passing I call in to grab a snack (cannot do it Sunday/Monday as they are unfortunately closed!). They serve a quality product at a very reasonable price - why can't all chippies be like this one?

It amazes me... the place is stick in Groundhog Day.. i say this as peices have remained the same and the quality and portion sizes has not deminished.. have their daily special and 2 can eat with a can of pop for under a fiver.. fantastic value in our books

I have visited here twice in the last month when passing through Caistor and I am very impressed. Their fish and chips are excellent, in fact their fish is as good as - if not better - than most that I have had in ages. They are good value as well. Highly recommended.

Excellent food at a brilliant price. The fish is always very fresh and well cooked and the chips are also very good.

The best chippy in Caistor. The portions are always generous and well cooked. The best thing is if you are taking away you get your order in a paper bag which prevents your meal from going soggy, which the plastic carrier bags many other places use tend to do. The staff are friendly and service good. The parking here is also more convenient than that of the market place.

Called in by chance as in the area and was hungry. The chippy was closing on our arrival and burners were off, yet the staff helped us out and turned it back on. A few minutes later and our tasty food was freshly cooked. Good value for money and we have no hesitations to call in again.

I went at lunchtime today and there were THREE people in the shop who had travelled their for scrummy fish and chips - one bloke actually said he'd considered moving to Caistor to be closer to the chippy! Indeed I have to say that I go when I am close by (even been known to make a detour!) - £1.60 for Fish Cake (Home Made!), Battered Sausage or Spam Fritter and a large portion of chips! How do they do it?

Second visit and to be honest was better than the first - can I give it a six? The offer specials with sausage/spam fritter/fishcake and a big portion of chips for just £1.60. So with a can of pop two can eat for a fiver... well worth a detour

I have been going to Savages since it opened a couple of years ago. When they first opened it was fantastic, then for a while it went downhill, i think they changed the potato and the chips didn't taste good at all and the fish was greasy. Anyway for a good few months now the food has been consistently great again, i absolutely love their fishcakes. The staff are quiet but very friendly and the prices are very reasonable. My parents went in recently to get some fish and chips and said it was absolutely delicious as well. My favorite chippy by far in the area!

Fish and chip shop take away fish skinned cooked fresh to order. Always hot and fresh. Staff very polite. Its the busiest fish and chip shop in Caistor.

Visited this place for the first time last night, and the large haddock was truly amazing and I couldn't ever wish for a better piece of fish, so I can fully appreciate the top class reviews.The peas and curry sauce were also very good, and the service and vibe of the place can't be faulted.Unfortunately I can't give 5 stars on this occasion because, to be honest, I found the chips a bit pale and soggy, sticking to the paper, and a bit disappointing considering the supreme quality of the fish.I'll certainly be going again, the fish is far too tempting, and I'll see if the chips are better next time.

As the others have said, great food reasonably priced. We picked up fish and chips for 7 to eat in our tent at "wolds view" camp site on a soggy bank holiday, made up for not being able to bbq. All freshly cooked to order.

We were traveling in north Lincolnshire and to avoid holiday traffic we took a scenic route,,, one that my Wife ensured ended up in Caistor! I soon found out why... Savages Fish and Chips!The shop has only been open for just over a year BUT it has developed a following and I can see why... food was FRESH and as far as costs go... it's a winner! You can have Fish Cake, Spam Fritter or Sausage (with chips) for £1.60 OR if you push the boat out you can have Fish or Chicken for a another £1.15 more! These dishes would satiate any appetite but if you are hungry you can pig out on a large haddock and chips for a little over a fiver!Had to put it on here,,, though why I do not know... as the locals in Caistor and I want to keep it a secret!
