Saravana Bhavan in Newham

We are visiting this place for few years in Eastham. Good and fresh food , specially their dosas. Friendly manager and good customer services

I recently ordered food from Saravana Bhavan, East Ham, through Uber Eats, but the food was not delivered. I understand that delivery issues can happen, but the way this situation was handled by the restaurant was extremely disappointing. When I contacted Saravana Bhavan to inquire about the missing order, I was met with an unhelpful and dismissive attitude. They flat-out stated they couldn’t do anything about it and offered no assistance or guidance on resolving the matter. As a customer, I expect a level of accountability and a willingness to help, especially from a brand like Saravana Bhavan. I had chosen them because of their reputation for good food, but this experience has completely tarnished my view of the restaurant. Their lack of empathy and unwillingness to resolve the issue shows poor customer service. If you value good service alongside good food, I suggest looking elsewhere. A restaurant is more than just its menu; how they treat their customers matters just as much. Saravana Bhavan East Ham has a long way to go in this regard.

It’s ok.. I have been visiting the place since last 2 years, and I feel the quality of food is going down. It just doesn’t taste good. Things as simple as ginger lemon honey tea is made wrong, fried rice is tasteless. Don’t try North Indian food like paneer tikka, it only tastes of charcoal no other flavour. I’m quite surprised, as the quality was much better last year. Hope it gets better

Excellent food, quick and efficient service. Tables are always clean. Dosas are delicious. Can get very busy. Everything is quite heavily spiced, so just be aware it may not be the best option for young children who aren't so used to the flavours! We found even the non spicy stuff pretty hot for children.

Visited Saravana Bhavan just after temple. The food came real quick. The chillie paneer and idly vada sambar was great. The falooda, portion wise was massive. I did not like the pineapple in the falooda. It’s not a fruit that goes with milk. We got sweets to take away, they tasted good.

Very busy all the time, inspit of this they provide very good customer service. Recently I visited their and shocked to see they even provide Jain food.

The south Indian food served at this restaurant is Superb! I loved the dosa, medu vada and Idli. I also tried paneer tikka masala and rasmalai which wasn’t that good.

The quality has never been worse. Sambar vadai - the vadai was so hard and difficult to cut with a single spoon they usually provide. It tasted like it was prepared days ago. Poori masala - the masala looked like it had a lining of water around it indicating it was prepared at least a day earlier. It tasted so sour. When i complained, they took it for inspection and never said a word about it. Dosa - any topping you add or not, it’s usually a little undercooked but the taste matches up. But this time the taste wasn’t great and the dosa was even more undercooked. Would give 0 stars if i can.

I went out with my friends today, and the experience was absolutely horrible! We ordered starters, and before we even finished our third bite, the waitress rudely interrupted us, asking if we were ready to order mains. When the mains arrived, the Manchurian was disgusting—it tasted awful! I complained to the manager, and instead of addressing the issue, he had the audacity to say it was "just soy sauce." Then he took it back, did nothing but garnish it, and returned the same awful dish. We then ordered chili paneer, and it tasted burnt! To top it all off, the food made me and one of my friends feel nauseous, and she ended up with severe stomach pain. The food quality and service were beyond terrible. Absolutely unacceptable!

The food was amazing but there was lady with short hair she was annoying when i asked her a high chair she suggested me to put my baby on the normal chair she don’t have any idea about children saftey and when i told her i am quite regular she told me that she works on weekends my children saftey is more important for me than anyone then she gave me a chair without saftey belt can someone give her proper training in customer services please apart from this no complaints only love for the food thank you guys.

The food was very tasty, we were 4 members friends, Actually we ordered for 4 food dish , i just asked for 1 small bowl of chutney for dosa . But Sarvana the guy was very rude and told that would be charged more for chutney. And Shivani was very good at her service and finally i got from her .

Classic Veg restaurants having many outlets all over the world.They have maintained the taste and quality of veg dishes.

Good food always, domestic team need to do the paperwork as well, toilets was clean any way.

The food was lovely and we were glad we had our friend with us who was able to guide us through the menu as the young man serving us simply kept walking away!

Had a lunch this afternoon, low food quality. Tried north indian thali side of paneer was sour, first they forgot to give soup and even they didn't apologise for that after a while when the waiter notice she just slide the soup on the table and left and tbh that soup looked so disgusting I tried 1 spoon and I was done. The rice has nothing for just a strong clove taste and the side of palak that taste like hot water with few leaf with palak and 1 piece of potato. From the whole meal Gulab jamun, Raita and lentil that was good rest of the thali was 1 out of the 10. And all the waiters they seem very unhappy and not very interested to be there.

Service rating specifically for the waiter John. He needs to go through comprehensive customer service training and needs to be taught how to listen to customers and wait till they have finished speaking. All he did was speak over us and that too in a rude tone. Also whilst he was taking our order he was talking to other staff and asked us to repeat our order 3 times.

Saravanaa Bhavan is a very authentic Indian restaurant with branches throughout the world. It’s very recognised and popular among the Indian demographic. The food tastes good, and is well priced, however the location outside of Central London is slightly inconvenient unless you’re based in East London. Recommended: Gobi 65, Onion Rava Masala Dosa, Chilli Paneer, Paneer Dosa, Mango Lassi, Falooda.

As long-time patrons of Saravana Bhavan East ham, we have frequented the establishment for many years. However, for the past three years, we have refrained from visiting due to a noticeable decline in the taste and quality of the food. Our recent visit today revealed that there has been little improvement. Additionally, we purchased a packet of Masala Peanuts, only to discover that it lacked both a manufacturing and expiry date, which is not compliant with legal standards.

The food is not much taster than expected.

The world famous vegetarian food from south India, foods are delicious, but difficult to get the place in the lunch time. Evening time is better.

More than 5 star because this place gave me tasty food which I couldn't find easily in london. This place has so many south indian varieties to offer at reasonable rate.

Even though it’s always crowd the staffs manage it so well. I have try here several times. In my favourite I highly recommend to try ghee mini idly and the filter coffee. The order usually comes after 15mins so I suggest you to take time to dine in here. Affordable price comparing to other vegetarian restaurants. Food taste was Always same and good

I went to the East Ham branch recently and loved the delicious and authentic South Indian food. All the dishes were tasty, the staff were very accommodating and refilled sauces etc. but the place is very busy, overcrowded and staff and running around. I would go back though.

Too long to get the food for take away orders Even at normal times they take 30-45 mins and when at any occasion, it’s definitely more than an hour. Very unsatisfactory

I directed to the seat given menu, and given order. Food was served but dish was not properly placed. Quantity was compromised very small pot for sambhar little portion of all sauces like portions for child. The sip straw was no compatible with have thick yogurt lassi. The payment collect answered when I asked for sipstraw should have bigger hole one to sip because its difficult to sip thick lassi. He replied me they not use plastic one. The wide hole paper sip straw all over available to have Shaks from ketchup and all. Very rude.

I normally order from Taste of India but I've told that Saravanan Bhavan is good so I decided to switch to up. Have to say I was sorely disappointed. The vegetable noodle and mushroom biryani was nice. I would eat those again. But the palak paneer, paneer makani and the garlic naan was so disappointing. The palak paneer and paneer makhani really lacked flavour. The sabji was also veryyyyy thin. The makhani was no sweet at all, the palak paneer was not spicy at all. The palak was like water, so runny with no substance. The garlic naan was so thin, not fluffy at all. I imagine it's good for Jain's with a full Jain menu, but if you are going for flavourful food, go across the road!

One star for the food, in 5 minutes we got all our food ,starters and main. The waiter just came and left the food and went straight away without even telling the food or even greeting . It was very unprofessional . It felt like they were rushings us and also I didnt liked the masala dosa as the aloo was a bit too mushy.

We have eaten here for many years now. Every time we come back to London from Italy we make sure to come here more than once. Food is delicious and well priced. Staff are very friendly. I recommend this restaurant to everyone i mention it too. They do very authentic South Indian vegetarian cooking.

I ordered three chapatis from this restaurant, and when I opened the packaging, I noticed they were not cooked properly. I contacted the restaurant, and the manager asked me to send a photo, which I did. However, after seeing the photo, the manager’s response was dismissive, saying, “You can eat it, it won’t harm you.” I found this response to be completely unprofessional. Additionally, the restaurant seems to lack basic health and safety standards. Based on my experience, it appears they are no longer prioritizing quality or customer care, perhaps because they already have enough business. For those considering ordering here, I would recommend avoiding this place due to their poor food preparation and lack of proper customer service. I’ll attach the photo I sent to the restaurant as proof.

Hi good evening we are pleased ordering panner 65 it’s come real dry from oil fired and we asked 5 times to give us some chat masala to put on top up panner 65 but there are completely ignored and once we eat then they bring chat masala real poor service doesn’t matter whenever you week and or weekdays service doesn’t change it’s beeeb always like this we hed 2 times same issue I do not recommend this place to visit very poor customer service

I cannot even describe how much I love the food here! It’s my home away from home, being a Bangalorean, South Indian meals is a staple and idli dosa vade is our life. Sarvana Bhavans taste is spectacular. The staff are just so nice, always checking on me if I need anything more while I enjoy my meals. :)

Paneer dosa is not worth a dime

I recently visited the Saravanaa Bhavan branch in East Ham with my friends, and I was incredibly impressed with the exceptional service we received. Despite arriving just 10 minutes before closing time, the supervisor/duty manager warmly welcomed us and ensured we were comfortably seated. The staff were extremely polite, attentive, and served us with happy faces throughout our dining experience, even as the restaurant was closing. The food was delicious as always, and the hospitality made our evening truly enjoyable. A big thank you to the team for their professionalism and for going the extra mile to make us feel welcome. We will definitely be returning!

Today, I booked an Onam Sadhya in the restaurant. I never had a worst sadhya like this in my entire 26 year of life. They costs like £20 and no curries are fresh. I don't know about their other regular dishes and regular veg meal. 2024 onam was a worst for me only because of this Sadhya. In the future, I never gonna try, or even think about into consideration of this restaurant for Onam. I am very disappointed. Most of the curries are not tasty. 2 payasam were good. Despite of the food, the staff, the service was very good and really appreciated.

I recently dined at Saravana Bhavan in Eastham with my sister's family, including three children, on August 23rd, 2024. We ordered several dishes, but when we were served the Poori, we discovered a cockroach fried with the food. Horrified, I immediately stopped the children from eating and brought it to the attention of the staff. They claimed this was the first time something like this had happened and seemed unsure of how it occurred. After returning home, both my nephew and I experienced severe symptoms, including vomiting and diarrhea. I promptly emailed the management about this disturbing incident, but I have yet to receive any response. The lack of hygiene in this restaurant is alarming, and I shudder to think about the state of their kitchen. The presence of cockroaches in the food suggests an extremely unsanitary environment, which raises serious concerns about the safety and cleanliness of their cooking practices. I strongly advise against dining at this establishment. I am also considering reporting this incident to the local council's health and safety department to ensure no one else has to go through a similar experience.

The place serves really nice vegetarian food. The staff is very nice and friendly. Would definitely recommend it to everyone.

We very often visit saravana Bhavan ....But our yesterdays visit was disappointing.... Everything thing was great but portion sizes are becoming very smaller compared to our previous visits.....Me as hotelier can increase Menu prices but shouldn't decrease portion sizes... We ordered chilli paneer,noodles,chilli parotta etc...We definitely won't be back if this continues as other Restaurants around you are of great competitions....

I visited with my family today and it was a great experience. The food came extremely quickly which was great especially for my autistic daughter who doesn’t understand if concept of having to wait. The manager was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The portion sizes may seem small but it definitely does fill you up when you start eating! The service was just very quick and thorough and I will be visiting again.

This place usually has a long queue, but surprisingly, on my visit on August 19th, 2024, there was none, so I decided to go in for the first time. I ordered the paper masala dosa and puri masala. However, when I asked for the green and red chutney, the man serving, who didn’t have a name badge, was extremely rude and unapproachable. My brother and I felt very uncomfortable; his attitude made us hesitant to ask for more chutney. :-D Thankfully, another staff member named Radhika was wonderful—she served us with a smile and was very kind. Meanwhile, the man without a badge kept staring at us as if we were doing something wrong. The other staff members, including a trainee and Dhivya, were attentive and responsive. However, this one employee(no name badge) really soured the overall experience. I even asked for his name multiple times while paying, but he was unclear, and my brother thought he heard "Raju," though we’re not sure. All I know is that he was the only one without a name badge. His attitude alone makes me hesitant to visit this place again with family or friends.

Food was really good. The only downside is that there was a small piece of hair on the dessert menu. Other than that it was really good!

I'm giving 1 star today for both the food and service because the sambar was burnt, and they were serving it to all the customers without concern. I noticed the burnt taste immediately, and the smell was evident. However, the service staff did not acknowledge the issue and instead tried to delay, bringing back the same sambar after 5 minutes while claiming it was a different batch. I told them I didn't want the burnt sambar and ended up eating with just chutney. Saravana Bhavan is known for its sambar and service, but today, both were pathetic. The person serving our table was only focused on taking orders and didn't seem to care about the quality of the food we received. We went as a group, and everyone felt disappointed with the service and quality. I feel bad for recommending the East Ham branch. I don't usually write reviews, but I wanted to write one today so that the owner can take the necessary action to address and correct these issues. Thanks HP

we always go to Taste of India but decided to go to Sarvanabhavan. we received our food in 10 to 20 minutes. which is good but the food was worse less portion, expensive, tasteless food. sambar was like dal. I would not recommend anyone, there are plenty of restaurants in the east that are better. waste of money.. thank you

The person who serve downstairs of the restaurant is not listening to our request and being rude by ignoring what we have asked for.

Felt like being and eating in Chennai

I ate chana bhatura today it was worst worst. Never eat here. I don't know how people eat from this restaurant. Worst food ever. Gravy chana I never heard chana with gravy. I think they prepare one gravy for all vegetable. I was eating raita. There was one small hair in the raita also.

Despite the fact that it wasn't busy, the waiter Jaffer Raja, who took our order, was neither welcoming nor cheerful. We did not know everything that the restaurant offered and no alternative was offered by the server in question. We only had starters, "masala tea" and coffee, specifying to serve them at the same time at the waiter's suggestion. But the drinks arrived more than 10 minutes after our starters. Additionally, we asked for sugar from another waiter, Saravana, who never brought it to us. Nevertheless, we would like to thank Lacra, who, not only brought the requested sugar, ensured that the service went smoothly and that we did not lack anything, even though she did not take care of our table. A 4/5 for the taste and quality of what we had.

I've been to the southall Sarvana Bhavan and really liked the Chole Bature. This one was not as much as the Southall One but overall good. Great Atmosphere and great service by the waitress, but I recommend they improve their food quality a bit better. Great Price.

I visit this restaurant every Saturday for the North Indian thali. The portion size is decent for the price and includes a delicious vegetarian soup. The place is always busy, making it challenging to find a seat. It’s not very far from the East Ham underground station.
