We went with our friends and family who are regular visitors.And overall OK.But this review is in comparison between Wembley and Eastham South indian thali...Wembley thali was much better compared to Eastham...

AWFUL FOOD. Everything was undercooked, over seasoned and everything was brought to the table haphazardly. I complained to whom I assume was the shift manager when everyone at my table was eating their slop, whilst I was still waiting for my naan. 30 MINS FOR NAAN! Had I simply been told thst naan will take a long time, I would have changed my order. The manager gave some ridiculous non answer about preparation times and then just walked away! Without even an apology or an conclusion to the conversation. This place isn't a restaurant, nor a cafe. Everyone who works in this establishment is just there for their monthly wage. The saddest thing is that this review won't even make an impact on anything. Do not waste your money. Such a disgrace to indian cusine, what a shame.

Visited this place after a really long time....the food quality is ok and tastes good! However, the service by the staff is quite poor and undermining....really in a hurry to take the order, and get out of the door asap. Before we finished, the bill was given to us (without even asking for it) plus the staff not very pleasant & have a frown on face when you ask them for something as compared to the other nearby South Indian restaurants. Can't really relax and enjoy your food! Its a pity!! Don't think going back again!

Service - 5 star, only because there is no option of 6 stars! I went there yesterday. The food was so good, I ordered some for taking home - and promptly forgot the parcel. When I rang up hours later, they remembered about it, said I could come and get it whenever - I went there, and the manager, Mr Muthuramalingam, insisted on getting a fresh set of the vadais being packed for me, despite it being entirely my fault. The young lady at the counter was equally affable. I think this is what service is all about. And it is such small acts that makes customers develop loyalty. I ceratinly have been loyal to their food, and now I am even more of a fan! Thanks, Saravana Bhavan East Ham and the entire team!

Food is really good. The staff working there are really helpful and well behaved. However, the ambience of the restaurant is not that great but if you want to enjoy good South Indian food by not emptying your pockets, then this is the perfect place for you.

I ordered from Uber Eats very disappointed in food lot of hairs and I call the restaurant, They’re blaming delivery guy and his service of the bag which made the hair strand in the box..and telling me to bring the food to check, why would i order at home and im about to go to work , their rude response has made me do this and also they send me wrong order…i call pull the long strand hair but even i got little strand of hair in the middle of the batter of the dosa..this is very very bad a big NO for me..

Had a very good experience tonight. The first you notice is the CLEANLINESS of the locale. John is a great waiter, he helps you with your order and is very calm. He doesn't try and rush you out. The Ghee Masala Dosa was delicious, and the accompanying kadai Paneer Punja was spicy but flavorful. I ordered a Lassi Mango to help with the hot spices. The restaurant was slammed for a Friday night but ended up with a table in two minutes. I went to a few of these in Chennai and Dubai, and this one is just as good! Thank you!

Good hotel for South Indian style of food, especially Tamil Nadu style. A bit pricey but ok to go there once in 2 months or so.

Gave 3 star for food bcoz of only one reason, last piece of my masala dosa, I found completely black potato (probably rotten) while chewing I felt some weird taste and I had to take out and realized this something unusual was in mouth. I felt so disgusted the whole day. I was expecting small assurance that it will never happen in future but I think they were not interested.

I had a disappointing experience for the first time at Saravana Bhavan restaurant. When I entered, the staff asked how many were in, and I replied, "One." Another person came in right after me, and when asked the same question, he also replied, "One." However, the staff seated him first. This made me feel bad because he was wearing a suit while I was dressed in jeans and a T-shirt. I don't think attire should influence the order in which customers are served. It felt like poor customer service, and it seemed like they were following a social hierarchy.

Very delicious food. The food tastes so good and the same as we have in India. Very peaceful atmosphere and very friendly staff. The price is reasonable and the food quality is good. Well hygiene and spacious dining. Highly recommend.

Very quick service, with lots of attentive staff. Next time will order mains after we have finished the starters as it all came out in very quick succession. Lots of staff to ensure that you can get free top up of chutney or sambar. I found the potatoes in the masala dosa a bit too mushy, but my partner did not mind.

I found the quality of the food disappointing. The Szechuan noodles had an unexpectedly sweet taste, and the flavors across the menu were quite mild. However, amidst the underwhelming options, the dry fruit ghee rava dosa stood out as a delicious and unique choice.

The food here is honestly very tasty. The only problem is the hygiene. There have been 3 different occasions where I’ve found hair in my food. The place just looks very dirty. Nevertheless, Saravana bhavan has one of the tastiest Dosas and mango lassi in London.

We ordered the sambar vada ,expected some standard of taste. It was a bit watery and i felt like that vada was a bit frozen.

One of the best South Indian restaurants in all of London. The choice of vegetarian dishes are marvelous. Delicious dosas! I love the starters too. Great value for money with generous portions. Really friendly staff! The interior is pleasant, reminds me a lot of restaurants I've visited in Kerala. I like that it's fairly informal. A must try destination.

The main thing of entering in a restaurant is to be greeted well and then they can provide a table where people can sit and have a look at the menu. But what we faced is , on the Eid day(10th apr) we went there to try some food. And we ordered some food which is Chana Bhatura and cheese dosa. But literally there was hardly any cheese on that dosa. Also, when we finished our food. Waiter didn’t even asked whether we need something or not. Even we wanna have some desert or not. They didn’t even bothered and provided us the bill which we didn’t even asked for as we are thinking to have some desert. Anyways, we paid the bill and left from there. N there will be no next time for this restaurant. Seriously a mess of behaviour and attitude they showed. Hardly gonna recommend anyone.

Just now I had the food , ghee masala dosa and my friend had karam dosa and filter coffee… at the time of eating we experienced something wrong with the food… after bill while coming to home directly ran into washroom … with loose motions… feeling vomting sensation now… even to my friend also… he is facing the same issue… I don’t recommend this restaurant again… illford branch was good in food… but east ham was waste ….

My first visit to the restaurant. The food was good. What made me give a 1 star rating is we ordered for rasmalai and found a broken nail in it :( Post complaining, the manager came back saying they don’t make this in house and apologised and give me a refund for the rasmalai. But it was a total hygiene issue. I will never again go to this restaurant because of this experience.

I think staff were over loaded with work, not a pleasant experience, we ordered ghee dosa and came with chocolate patches, when asked they say it could have spilled and no apology for that. Not at all happy with service. Hope Sangeetha restaurant come as a competitor in Eash ham

The service was not that up to the mark where you begin greeted, allowing the customers to settle down. While we settling down the waiter came and asked for the Oder to place. The waiter was too intrusive. We didn't even go through the menu and felt that he was rushing us to place the order. But we did place the starter's order. Waiting for the food was less than 10 minutes. Food was kept by the waiter without the cutlery. We had to ask him to get us some cutlery and napkins. Some other waiter came and gave us the cutlery that too without a napkins. While the food wasn’t that spectacular I would say it was okay. While I couldn’t feel the differences between the Vegetable Briyani and Vegetable Pulav. Just that a Pulav had peas without turmeric. While they both tasted the same. I would say one-time experience if you want to try Indian food. The Badam Milk was just a Yellow colour Milk it didn't even taste like Badam Milk at all. While we were eating the waiter came with the bill and the card machine, without even asking for it. After paying he did not even have the manners or courtesy to say ‘thank you’ and greet them back.

This is definitely an authentic south Indian restaurant. It has all vegetarian menu only. The food here are very reasonably priced. I ordered the chilli paneer and they are absolutely divine. My wife has ordered the Rava dosa and I ordered the Chili onion masala Dosa. The dosa were incredible and they were very flavourful. There were other options as well to choose from and we were so full. We will definitely come back again in the future. You can tell how authentic this restaurant is when the restaurant is full with the locals.

Today I ordered veg bhindi masala , ..😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 worst ever bhindi masala I tasted. I will never ever order it again . Even bhindi was not properly cooked and there are only 4 5 pieces of bhindi rest of the thing was just greavy ...for today experience .. I want to give -1 star but...no option for it .

Old review: Great taste and much better quality among other SB branches in London... New review: I am editing my review to 1 star basically because of the poor service we received at this place by one Mr Jaffer. We were there last Monday and we had the unfortunate experience of being waited by Mr Jaffer who was very rude right from the word go. My aged aunty asked him if there was any aapam or idiyappam and he responded in a very tone "did you read the menu, did you see them in the menu?" I had to intervene to remind him that he is in the service industry and can't take such a rude tone with the customer but he was neither apologetic nor seemed to understand the point being made as he continued to be very forceful and unpleasant. So, we had to ask for his name when he informed us he is Mr Jaffer and hence this re-written review. I hope the management trains the staff to be more service minded.

I was really looking forward to dine here, it’s my very first time trying Saravana Bhavan in the UK. I’ve been to many outlets all over the world and the consistency with food is there no doubt with that. However, what shocked me today was the service. It all went well until the waitress asked us do we need anything else and we said we are good for now. A minute later, waiter “Simran”, she brings the bill to our table without us asking? This is the first time I have ever experienced this in a restaurant. I don’t have any F&B experience but courtesy is that you wait until your customer asks you to send the bill. Oh well! I guess they didn’t like us being around :) I hope the management could train their staff better. Truly disappointing despite having ana amazing meal!!

2 April 2024 Update Visited this Sarvana Bhavan on a very rainy day, not ideal but taste buds necessitated that. We were luckily and got a table straightaway on the far centre of the room adjacent to the Chefs stations. As soon as we took our jackets off, a eager member of staff came to take our order. So we asked him to come back after we had actually seen the menu, he was perhaps a little too eager. We called him back and placed our order. I wanted the Potato Bhonda, a spiced version of the one on the menu. I was advised that this is no longer sold. Then why have the item on the Menu?, So we ordered 2 well done Onion Rava Masala dosas made extra crispy. Our server suggested getting the potato filling separate to maintain the crispness. We concurred. Sure enough when the Rava onion masala dosas came, indeed they were both very crispy. There was a nice selection of chutnies/sauces to compliment it. The dosa was well laced with a generous amount of onions. The potato filling that had been served separately as arranged, however the amount of potato wa tiny, it also lacked flavour and creativity. It was totally bland. Also the sambar was served in the smallest possible stainless steel dish and then that too was only half full, this was disappointing. On request, the sauces on my dish were topped up, so that wa nice. As I was still hungry and because of the lack of Potatoes Bhonda, I ordered another dosa. Again this came with separate potatoes filling and very crispy but the sambar was virtually non existant and the potatoes filling lacked flavour. We order some chilli Paneer and rotis to go. Whilst I was still eating my dosa, the server came with the bill, standing next to me with his card machine expecting me to pay him. This was rather difficult as my wallet was in a closed zip in my jacket and my hands were not clean as I was eating my dosa. This was extremely unprofessional and I was not amused and told him so. He still stood there. So I passed my jacked to my wife who took out my wallet and my card which I then tapped on his machine. I do not want this behavior repeated on my next visit. I will call the server and ask for the bill when I had finished eating. So to summarise, the Potato Bhonda needs to be removed for the menu if you no longer serve it. There are a few more items no longer served on the restaurant. Perhaps someone needs to go over the menu and get these items removed and menus reprinted with the actual merchandise sold. The Onion Rava Masala Dosa shell was nice and crispy but need to improve the taste of the potatoes filling and offer sambar in a slightly larger dish. And most importantly, do not hover over the customer holding a payment machine whilst they are still eating their food, especially as they have not asked for the bill. Hope to see these suggestions actioned. Nb: Have deleted the original review as there was no space on Google maps to add this update to the original review I had done.

If you are looking for authentic South Indian food in London , Sarvana Bhavan is a must visit in East Ham. Prices are worthy. The ambience is great. We had ordered pongal, idly and Vada. It tasted great, just like back in India. Dont forget to have your hot glass of chai or coffee before leaving 🫠

This is the best dine-in restaurant in East Ham. The food is delicious, and they typically bring it to you within a few minutes of ordering. The workers are friendly and cooperative. A decent and well-maintained toilet if you are with your children.

Pls I request you all gust do not go Eastham branch pls go to different branch I ordered and waiting food more then 45 min then I complained to manager and his laughing front of everyone and his doesn’t bothered at all and tell us to go his attitude is unacceptable very poor service

Authentic yummy experience, a home away from home

Worst customer experience. Me and my friends went yesterday for dinner. After all no one was not ready to ask for taking the order. A girl Sowmya Babu was taking my order who has really behaved badly through her expressions. I told paneer biriyani and she repeated same but she entered wrongly and got me mushroom. I am Alergic to mushroom I have never had ever. When I said this she was arguing with me that I ordered mushroom biriyani. She was not even ready to apologise and was telling in the kitchen that was customer mistake in the local language. Which is even worst.

I went to have dinner with my family. We all loved the food especially the sambar, oh I don't have words to explain the happiness and joy...

Ghee Masala Dosa is my Favourite and the Mango Lassi, the Paneer/Gobi/Aloo 65 are great starters.

Staff is not friendly. Once you finish your food. They expect you to leave.

I used to love the place for its taste even better then Ilford branch as very well balances with spices. It seems chef is changed on recent visit and it's spicy food! I did give feedback while making a payment and hope go back to previous standard with very well prepared food. Also the food mix in the dosas was noticeable not nice eg chilli pedicle, peppers odd cutting etc. One of the dishes the cashew nuts decreased compated to quatity used to be before. I hope to get the standard which have bonded for years for multiple families we visit otherwise it will be sad to leave and find alternative.

Poor quality of food as comparison to illford branch. In the peak time they just do formalities in cooking food. Mostly they give half cooked.

Delicious, crispy paper masala dosa. Friendly and attentive staff made me feel very welcome. I was given extra sambar and the delicious chutneys were topped up without my needing to ask. Fantastic!

The waiter was very rude. Asked for a high chair 💺 he refused that it can't be placed at that table, asking him if he can change the table as can't eat with holding a baby with on hand. He didn't bother to help. Placed the bill before done with the food.

First time here and I was happy to discover this lovely vegetarian Indian eatery. I came here with my partner and we enjoyed some dosas - I got the masala dosa; she got the paneer one. We both really enjoyed the food. We also got some mango lassi which was thick and sweet. Delish! Everything on the menu is vegetarian. Will certainly be back here!
