Saravana Bhavan in Harrow

We both had one food each. We waited 50 minutes. The new girl showed attitude so I asked her. Because of that no one came to my table. Hospitality zero. Food was ok but no taste.

Waited for more than 25 minutes for a table. It was disappointing the food quality is not grate and slightly expensive - not worth the wait. Atmosphere is awful and chaotic like a fish market. Manger and his staff are provided a good service. However, Not recommend you'll get a decent meal in a pleasant environment.

This place for food was ok for a quick lunch, but this time the food was like old and cause you problem, so we left it at that, paid and left as I don’t like to upset the staff because they try their best, food has gone out the window

Excellent Dosa. We all had chef’s special and food was delicious. Can not fault the food at all. Service can be bit improved.

Known for its Dosa and is incredibly popular, the long queue outside is a testament to that. Unfortunately I cannot understand why!? There was nothing wow about my Rava Dosa and the accompanying curry. The Cauliflower 65 was really nice, so I bought a takeaway of the Paneer 65 home for the kids, which as it uses the same 65 ingredients was also really tasty!

Hi, I went to Saravanaa Bhavan Resturant at Rayners Lane yesterday to have Dosa but when I started eating it then I realised that something is not chewable and found a plastic cling in my mouth with a bite of dosa. I took it out of my mouth but had eaten some of the parts of it. I am very disappointed with this restaurant's negligent behaviour and unhygienic practice. It could happen to anyone. It's about health and safety so I won’t recommend it at all to anyone. Please have a look at the pictures below-

Order for two. Saturday 18.00 South Indian Meal - 35 minutes wait. North Indian Thali - 40 minutes wait. Both Thali had cold food. Rotis were warm, but under cooked. Not worth the wait or expectation. Masala sweet tea - 50 minutes wait -waited and waited, asked for drink 3 times before it arrived. Found tea to be weak and tasteless. Passion Fruit drink - 55 minutes wait -waited and waited, asked for drink 4 times before it eventually arrived. Reason for delay, "making the drink fresh". Found the passion Fruit drink weak and watery. Served in flimsy plastic glass. Restaurant not very busy. Slow service. Staff seem friendly but unfortunately unattentive. Thalis had mostly cold food. Lacked flavour. Token gesture of salad, thin slice of onion and cucumber. Hugely dissatisfied and disappointed with our experience. Hoped for better and expected more. The thali food is mostly cold, which is a huge let down.

Hair in food and lady manager big time attitude since she’s promoted she can’t manage her staff either

Came here again after a long time with friends for dinner. We were seated quickly, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant looks amazing with its new look, was very impressed. Great selection of food, good size portions all at a very reasonable price. Overall, had a great evening here, will return again soon!

Awful service by staff and manager who does not care. Got my order wrong, had to wait 30 mins to get my food. Food was greasy and low quality. Avoid this place there are better ones that value customers.

This restaurant was always good. However, I think there are serious hygiene concerns which the managent need to take seriously. On a recent visit the bathrooms were filthy. Never a good sign in a restaurant. Unfortunately, I did not trust my instincts and still ate here. I’ve not felt well since and family members have had similar issues. I’ve come on Trip Adviosr to warn others and find another reviewer has contracted E Coli. This is a serious issue and can be very dangerous especially to the elderly and infirm.

Both myself and friend contracted a severe case of E. Coli poisoning after visiting the Rayners Lane, Harrow restaurant. This was confirmed by stool samples. Whilst this is generally a busy restaurant, there is no excuse as E. Coli can only be contracted due to poor hygiene practices. The toilets were dirty too. Contacted the manager and head office and very disappointingly no response or willingness to even refund the cost. Has taken over 2 weeks to recover. Restaurants like this should be shut down especially this level of complacency.

I use to like this place but now all the food we had was not like it was, must be our off day, I wish they can pull it back and food is back to normal, it was great before

I have always loved food from this place, the masala dosa in particular is always delicious and well made. However the coconut chutney tastes more of urad than coconut. Otherwise, I can’t fault it.

Of the many Saravana Bhavan restaurants around UK, this is one of the better ones. The food is good, decent portion size and has a varying variety of dishes. It's usually crowded and there would be a queue to get in. Service could be a bit slow but I won't complain.

Stopped by on a shopping trip to sample the "delights". Not disappointed, the Faluda was excellent as was the fried idli, a few tried dosa's and other items, all up to a good standard.

The idli was about the only thing on the menu that was not drowned in chilli! Everything was much too fiery and spicy for my palate. This place is DEFINITELY NOT for people who cannot handle extremely hot spicy food!

Saravana Bhaven is a regular for us and the quality of food and service us always good . Prices reasonable , our favourites are Idly and Rava Masala Dosa . Definitely recommend

Great place to visit for traditional Vegetarian food from all over India. The restaurant is always busy and the menu offers many types of traditional veggie food but specialise in Dhosa which is a very large Rice pancake served with a selection of chutneys.

I’m not trying to be harsh on service staff, but, my experience is so horrible. Food quality is abysmal is an understatement. Dirty toilets, unhygienic food, and horrible staff at high street price.

I have been there many times in the evenings and it’s always been full. There is always a queue to get a table and the wait could be between 10 minutes upto almost 45 minuets as they do not take reservations. Yeti have not seen anyone that walks away.

We went here again. As usual the food and service was very good and timely. Except for desert. One reminder was sufficient. We ordered about 1.5 dishes each drinks and even a glass of wine. Average cost £10 per person so very reasonable. Have to say probably the best South Indian cuisine I have eaten in London in fact in the UK. If you like dosas and south Indian food then it is a must visit. Free parking at weekends is close by.

Second visit to this all vegetarian restaurant and with its pressing unresolved food problems ...we can be assured that we will never step foot in here again! Why? The thali platter which consists of Dahl, curry etc...came lukewarm. When we raised the issue with Management ...they looked puzzled but as we insisted on having hot food ...they went to the kitchen and came out with a small tub of hot ( to the touch) curry! So that truly left us wondering why were we served lukewarm to cool food instead of piping hot food?! That was the second time it happened. As vegetarian restaurants are far but few in this area ....guess the diners are happy to tuck into the food served even if not hot. After all it’s a cheap and ( not) cheerful restaurant ...not that clean too! Stay clear if I ere you!

returned here for another great meal, ordered a chilli paneer, masala dosa and kara dosa. Service was so quick and food was great. Masala dosa didn't have enough filling but they quickly gave some more.

Dining in is fine but they have stopped their takeaway's service which was fantastic. Wish they would start again otherwise they are loosing business.

I've been here a couple times and you really cant go wrong with the dosa's, idli's, masala chai and a whole lot more served up in this place...all at a very affordable price! :)

Dropped in here on Saturday. Food was very good and satisfying. We had masala dossa. The annoying thing was this loud constant buzzing sound which was very off putting. Was told it was from the alarm. Will probably go back one day and sit far away from this alarm!

We went in a group of four and the food, as usual, was excellent. We ordered the Onion Rava Masala Dosa, idlis, poori aloo, Kerela parantha, masala chai and filter coffee. All the food was great! Would highly recommend the place!

We went in today for an evening meal. Very friendly staff, however poor food quality and delivery of service. Expected mains to follow starters, but here all the courses came in together despite requesting for courses to follow on appropriately. The food served was not piping hot and it was cold. Terrible north indian thali (tasteles curries) and greasy dosas. Have had better dosas elsewhere. Bajias instead of being light and crispy were covered with horribly thick batter. First visit and a last one for us.

It was a pleasant surprise to be served authentic south Indian food in a chain restaurant by non-ethnic staff. The Dosas were fantastic. Though the menu contains a large number of Indian dishes, the USP is south Indian food. Go for it.

I like Indian food and in this time I went with familly here.I get a big surprise,staff bring food after 5 min I thought how possible so quickly?In order was Idly vada sambar,masala dosa,rava kichadi. They warmed it just? Food was not fresh,like storage few days and the taste any of dish what I orered not eatable( I know all of them from another restaurant where everything was nice and fresh) .My impression was-horrible, all of dishes like someone made it based on not fresh couscous-just comparison for freshers.My partner trying eat like its a punishment,(he is Asian),I was extremly hungry and not able eat it,I left all by bitting once.I never experienced in my whole life such lunch.One thing staff forgot bring from my order ,even I dont care.I dont wanted trying anything else.Please be aware where you entering.

If you are happy with vegetarian food and you like spicy South Indian flavours then don't miss out on a visit to saravana bhavan... for me it's a treat every time! Masala dosa, onion-chilli-tomato uthapam, Chana battura, paneer makani with paratha! Mmmm delicious... all washed down with one of there fresh juices or mango Lassi or chai! Very reasonably priced. You may have to queue for a table on weekends.

I think this is a great place to eat for all vegetarians, can have a great meal and a drink under £10 per person. I been here 3 times and food has always been good, this time I had North Indian Thali, my family had masala dosa and idly vada, was good food.This place is always packed.

On the plus side, the waiter was was helpful and kind. The 'fresh' pineapple juice was far from fresh, it had an odd consistency and did not taste or look like pineapple juice, I had to send it back. While this restaurant is vegetarian, there are very few options for those with a severe dairy allergy. The mixed vegetable noodles were tasty, but very oily, leaving one with no option but to wipe the lips with a serviette after every mouthful, or else have a mouth almost dripping with oil.

First the roof leaks, hope it was just water and then an Insect in food. Could not eat at all after that. Dint charge for that 1 dosa with the insect but had to pay for rest of the food we ordered which we dint eat anyways. Disappointed with the service.

I wish I could set it worse than one. I am a regular customer and usually go to this place with my family. I think their services are ok and food too the same (sometimes undercooked and cold but as I said OK). However being a vegetarian not too many choices and I like south Indian food so I still go there. I did a take away today and the quality of food is really awful. The portions are stingy and staff it felt like were in mood to attack people (they always leave you on mercy of their mood but today really bad). I ordered Idli Sambhar along with other items for entire family. Just as a final check to confirm all is there I noticed for 3 Idlis the sambhar was too less. I told them I would like more and would love to pay for it. However I just wanted to make them aware that the portion of sambhar was good enough for a single idli and not entire portion which includes three Idlis. The lady taking the payment decided to pass the comment to manager. The manager came angrily and said to me this is what we do that is all. I told him I am only giving him feedback, if he want he can take it on board if not he does not need to..... he started with a really strong voice and said I did take your suggestion but that is all we do... it almost felt like he may hit me and that is when I told him I do not want to talk to him... absurd but true as I did not provoke him at all... manager's name was Sandhanu (could be spelt differently as no one knew how to spell it). Just look in photo how frequent I am and how I paid extra for something that should have come with food anyways... also a photo of whole meal so that you can judge for yourself... IT is not about money but overall experience.... it was very unpleasant and would leave bad taste after...

Visited Harrow Saravana bhavan for a meal. Must say enjoyed most. Lovely service. Keep up the good work guys. Had worst experience in another place of Saravana bhavan and was hesitant in visiting. You guys are doing great job. Others should learn seeing your branch.

I have heard a lot of good reviews from people regarding this eaterie and it sure lives up too what people have said. The food and service is outstanding. Dosa's are to die for and the Poori's are delicious myself, I ordered the Masarla one it was so delicious and excellent dips. There is no surprise as there are continious queues on the weekend brace yourself!!! I visited the place yesterday and will defiantly go back.

I am always delightfully surprised that this restaurant is vegetarian!! I don't know much about Indian food, but this place has opened up a whole new world to me and I am always trying different dishes. If you are a beginner like me, ordering one of their set menu will give you an insight into what they offer. So tasty and still cannot believe there is no meat. I'm always satisfied after my visits here - all for under £10 per person is a real bonus.

Had to stand in queue to be allocated a table.Good variety of indian dishes. We had Masala dhosa and Chana bhatura. Very tasty. Mango lassi was good. For starters we had Manchurian with garlic nan .waiters were polite and quick and even asked in what order we would like to have the different dishes to be brought. I do not recommend the Faluda as it contained too much fruit.

Quick and polite staff.Been to this branch a couple of times, but on one occasion, having travelled all the way from High Wycombe, 25 minutes before closing we was not allowed to dine in as we were told they were closing in 25 minutes. Whilst our food was being prepared, a party of three came and were seated :/ Not the sort of food you can enjoy eating in a car !Advise : Please do not arrive an hour before closing, you might not get served!

Went there with the family for something different and though it's a fair bit to travel, it was worth it.4 of us had meal with drink and we paid £36. Not bad at all.

I love this place it gets very packed so it's best to go early the Indian food is very traditional and really tasty and they will make it mild if you ask. for 3 of us the bill came to £47 that includes 4 beers and a coke. We rolled out of there we were so full .

Great food at very reasonable prices, especially the dosas and chili paneer.It's quite cheap and the food is very tasty, service is quick (although not necessary very friendly). I sat facing the kitchen once and saw them pour lassi from a glass (which I assume had been served) back into the larger lassi vessel, so have not ordered any drinks here since. This is a more traditional Indian eating cafe style place rather than what a westerner (like me) would typically expect of a restaurant. Superb food, but that's not what you are looking at when you want to dine in peace. The waiting takes hours, no place to wait, you need to stand on the footpath... that's really irritating. Moreover there is no parking near by. The customer service is horrible. The person allocating the tables lacks common sense.... smaller groups get accommodated at bigger tables, just because they have come early.... It's too much of a hassle to wait, starve and by the time the food is served, you don't feel like eating OR you are just too frustrated/ hassled.Not worth all the efforts.

This place is mega busy all the time, very very popular with the local Hindu Gujarati population. It's nice food, and an extensive menu, reasonably priced, not too expensive but not mega cheap. I ordered plain noodles with nothin on them at all for a 5 year old child and because they said they didn't have this on the menu they charged me for a full adult dish, which isn't great customer service, it's either dodgy or lazy, either way I didn't appreciate it.
