Sar La Thai in Tendring

Called to place my order, explained I was coming from about 20 minutes away. Turned up 17 minutes later and they were just starting to bag it up. Panang was outstanding, the coconut rice compliments it perfectly and was a great combination. The satay we ordered was great for us both. I like a satay spiced chicken but not saucey. Wife likes a saucey satay and she tells me the sauce was incredible. Will 100%, be eating here again. Probably this week, maybe tomorrow!

Cat on the worktop, food was "cooked" in 3 minutes and had chicken in the noodles which as predicted, was definitely not cooked. I feel awful the day after eating it.

Wow this food was superb!!! Friendly helpful staff served us, gave us a couple of empty cartons to use as bowls as we were eating al fresco at Mistley Walls. One of the best meals I’ve had tbh! Set meal B for 2 👌Cannot wait to return. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had the Massaman Curry with Thai Yellow curry and Vegetable Rice. It was really nice, well cooked not too hot spice wise but full of flavour. I look forward to getting takeaway from here again. Update; Still excellent in quality, taste and value.

Omg this is the best Thai food I’ve ever had. I live in near London. It’s freshly cooked every dish you can taste the fresh flavours and ingredients. The staff are very polite and a very happy atmosphere and that’s what customers want to see. A smile goes a long way! The chef is a super star she puts all her love in to create the most mouth-watering dishes. I will be back to work my way through the menu. Thank you

My favorite place ever. The kaeng panang and chicken with coconut rice is beyond anything I have ever tasted. The heartbreak is real when we moved back to ipswich. Have it as a nice treat when visiting nan now! The staff are always lovely too. Best Thai place I have ever come across and still is now!

Ordered takeaway this evening from Simply Thai. I have eaten here before and it’s generally pretty good but today I was left unable to eat any of it. I ordered and asked for my dishes to be gluten free like I usually do, as I have an allergy. Collected and when I got home I found out I had egg noodles (made from wheat and not gluten free) instead of rice noodles, which I am usually given. Fortunately I didn’t eat any of it before realising. I called Simply Thai and they told me it was my fault for not asking for rice noodles, even though I asked for the dishes to be gluten free. I was offered no apology and no option to rectify the issue. Instead they continually argued it was my fault and I had to throw all the food away and put my oven on. A very expensive and frustrating evening!! ***UPDATE*** The owner Gary, refunded the full amount of my order as promised. He apologised and also updated me after talking with his staff about the misunderstanding. Gary was keen to resolve the matter and took the feedback seriously which was reassuring. I have updated my review from 1 star to 4 stars.

Visiting the area and after being informed our stop over where unable to feed us we ordered a delivered meal that was appetising, we'll cooked, and value. Would definitely use again if in the area.

We can't afford a takeaway regularly but we always get a takeaway here every new year's eve. We have never had a bad meal and this year was no exception. Quality food, pre booked so when we came to collect it had literally just been made so we paid and straight home. Really organised to pre book and no issues, I would recommend Simply Thai to everyone.

The food is as near authentic as the real thing,the choice of veg d is as near the real thing as is possible,friendly service.

Picked up a takeaway from there last night and my whole family was really disappointed. Food didn't taste fresh, swimming in oil and watery... Every dish, even the noodles, like it had been sitting in a large container for days and then just microwaved. Didn't taste right at all, I felt really ill afterwards with tummy ache. Ordered a salmon green curry for over £8, only 3 pieces of salmon in there, wasn't even given a whole fillet - you could get a pack with two fillets from Tesco for less than that. Waste of money and really overpriced. Wouldn't recommend. Won't be returning 👎👎 **Update** I have since spoken with the owner of Simply Thai - Gary. Who seemed to be interested in feedback and took on board all of my comments for improvement. I was offered a refund OR a meal (worth what I spent last time) for free! After much thought I have decided on a refund. I have phoned Gary twice and text, no refund yet.. Once I have my money back. I will be happy to change the star rating of my review to reflect the final service I received. **Final Update** I have changed my review to 4 stars for customer service only. Gary was not defensive when taking criticism/feedback over the phone. He was swift with a refund (Bank Transfer) after I had made my mind up (as to whether I would return or not as an eating paying customer) which was 20 days after the fact. No quibbles. It is rare to find good customer service. This I will acknowledge and say Simply Thai does look after its customers. Maybe they were just having a bad day (the day we ordered)??? a change of chef?? 🤷 or maybe they are one of those take aways that's just hit and miss - I don't know, but I do know they aim to resolve issues and go the extra mile to please the customer.

Was a touch disappointed when it was taken over. Teething problems I reckon we've now been using again for the last 3 months and the food is amazing again the Tom yum is the best I've ever had and massive seems expensive but it's mega value for the money

Good food but would like to see updated menu. Occasionally feels rushed and vegetables not fully cooked. Portion sizes could be bigger or contain more meat. Charged for delivery even though l live less than 3 miles away. Otherwise would recommend.

My favourite takeaway! I live in Colchester but its worth the 15 minute drive to pick it up from Manningtree. Curry and noodles are incredible and have so much great flavour! Also very good customer service which is a bonus. Highly recommend!

Got our first Thai meal after just moving into the area. We are quite picky as we lived in London then Southend and have been to a lot of good places. We still rate this. Lovely. Fresh and zingy. I think my fillings have just melted! Seriously good.

Love Thai......but not from here.....salty...sugary.....3 mouthfuls and binned it £30 for a horrible meal . Rang and complained.....no joy... 1 Hr on...and our mouths are stilll burning with salt . Tried to fob me off with " spicy dish "...NO NO NO SALT !!! NEVER USING THESE AGAIN !
