Undoubtedly the best tasting Chinese food in Livingston rice amazing 10/10 delivery driver prompt can’t wait to taste my next meal amazing quality chicken compared to other local restaurants using cheaper cuts ,

Highly recommend the salt and pepper chicken, and the chicken curry. This takeaway offers thicker prawn crackers unlike the thin ones you usually get at takeaways. Great Chinese takeaway.

Staff outright rude when collecting order, and then order mixed up with a dish missing despite it being called after being read off the label.

Noodles were disgusting. They tasted like the ones you buy in a packet by uncle ben! Chicken fatty and chips soggy. Usually eat here often but after tonight I’m done.

Phoned for a delivery only to be told 50 mins later when I called asking where it was, that I apparently said collection. Not sure how as when she answered she asked if it was for my address. Her attitude was terrible and the food was cold as it was the order that was placed 45 mins prior and had been sitting the whole time😠

Special fried rice should be easy and tasty. This was neither, I have honestly had better from a plastic microwavable ready meal. I won't be back and would advise you to go elsewhere. If I could have have given it 0 stars I would have.

Ordered Lemon chicken with egg fried rice .... Ended up with chicken swimming in sweet & sour sauce with a slice of lemon in it ..... I'm surprised they don't know what lemon chicken looks like or how to make it cos it definately doesn't come with sweet & sour sauce!

Not a great experience. Sometimes you just want a straightforward take-away, with no frills, to sit with a beer and a film. This was low in taste and low in temperature. Used to be a regular here (a long time ago), but will be going further afield now I'm back in the area

The food we get is always hot however portion sizes can be a hit or miss, chips and prawn cracker portions have halfed in size.

Phoned for takeaway,normally this place is good on delivery ordered lots of times but tonight the woman taken the order said 40 min so expected abit late as busy, after an hour told it was on its way after hour and half rang again said the delivery person was at St johns delivering food to hospital,and he was on his way it took nearly 2 hours and the person who took the order could of said after the hour that it was going to be alot longer then we would of cancelled the order and gone somewhere else...the delivery guy told us he only had the order half an hour so the woman on the phone was not telling the truth....disappointed as both hungry and as I said we understand if busy just need to inform customers so we have the choice to order somewhere else.The food is good the person on the phone wasnt...update ordered again and this time very helpful said an hour arrived half and hour, great food hope you continue sapphire...big difference this time woman on phone was nicer...

Disappointing -had food from here many times before but it has rally gone down hill recently. Disgusting overcooked sticky rice and watery flavourless food. Last time I waste £40 on a takeaway from Sapphire

Chicken noodle soup was tasteless. Main meals best described as watery, tasteless and very greasy! The rice was dripping with grease. Used to be a good takeaway but what a waste of money. Prawn crackers best bit of the whole meal.

Best Chinese in Livingston by a mile! Its a shame all the reviews on here are negative. This doesn’t accurately reflect the restaurant at all. Been ordering from here well over 15 years and haven’t had a single issue.

Need to work on a better system for online order and collection management. Orders are made with online orders at the back of the queue and can often be 30 mins after the estimated collection time with orders not being made until you complain. Shame, food is good when eventually is handed over.

Normally, the takeaway meals from here are great. However, I was a bit disappointed on my last visit with my char sui dish.

How this place has 3.7 stars I’ll never know. It’s genuinely an absolute disgrace. We had guests last night and we decided to order some food in. After looking through the reviews and some of the pictures, we decided at first it was probably best to avoid the place. However, we thought we’d give it a chance because not all the reviews were terrible and we were hungry etc. Yeah. Never again. Not only were the chips 30% cooked and soggy, not only was the food completely disgusting BUT it was also covered in hair. We genuinely could have made a wig from all the hair and other bits of gunk in our foods combined. I have no idea how the place is still in operation, it’s absolutely rancid.

Disappointing! We pre-ordered our food for Christmas Eve and not only was the food 50 minutes late but also, but not surprisingly lukewarm. I phoned up after waiting 40 minutes to chase only to be hung up on. Obviously I was wrong for phoning to see where my near £50 food order was!

This used to be one of the best take aways in west Lothian, I have used this place over the last ten years and was a regular in the restaurant when it was open, I was very disappointed with my order that I collected, Ribs were not tender and also the chicken in the main meals were the same, sauce was very watery and just so disappointed with the food, a sad loss to loose in my opinion one off the best Chinese Takeaways in west Lothian.

Really disappointed usually enjoy food from here,got crispy beef tonight absolutely disgusting.It was solid and tasteless had to throw it away waste of money.

Waiting for 1 hour 20 mins now for chicken chow main and crispy wan tan only live in dedridge so not far very disappointing considering I could have walked there and back 3 times buy now

This was our go to Chinese for almost 2 years since we moved to Murieston. Honestly every weekend would order a meal. The last 2/3 times we’ve ordered not only have they put their prices up which we don’t mind and understand with what’s going on but they have reduced their portion sizes and they are so tiny it’s ridiculous. They have started using smaller plastic containers than they normally do so portions don’t even feed one person never mind to share. Chip bag is only ever half full and we ordered prawn toast and got 1 slice cut into 4 quarters and paid £4.50 for it. It’s made the decision for us we won’t order again. They have lost a good loyal customer who probably spends a good bit of money when we have family over etc just for short term gain of saving a little in portion sizes they have lost an income from a loyal customer. Really disappointed and hope someone sees this so they can make changes as a few of our friends who live in Murieston have said the exact thing and will end up loosing custom because of it.

Always charging extra 10p with every order but not on receipt chicken fillet very hard all curry dishes spoken to them few times but no answer food used to great

We ordered for delivery from this restaurant for it to arrive with a moth in the curry sauce and have grey chicken in the fried rice

The place is disgusting! 80% of the chicken was grey and then opened the tub of curry sauce to find a moth marinating in it!

Wee Tuesday night take away Big mistake ! chips went straight in the bin they were disgusting! beef curry and beef black bean followed shortly after as the beef was terrible and very salty . We sat in this restaurant a few years ago and the food was so nice but not tonight unfortunately we wont be back .

Always fresh food can be a bit of a wait but it's worth it I drive 10mikes out my way to get food from here when I fancy Chinese food

Got the Duck chow mien,,,disgusting,,,duck was full of fat and the chow mien was dry and tasteless,,,never again 🤢🤢🤢

Second time we have used this takeaway and the food if really good, chicken very tasty and plenty of it. The price is good and portions a good size, very pleased with the food only one problem it was a bit cold. Possibly because its popular and busy but when the delivery came the food was almost cold. Once lockdown is over we will collect our order and I’m sure then it will be hot and lovely.

Decided after years of not using the takeaway due to it not being great, I decided to try again when I received their menu through the door recently.Black Bean sauce Beef Chow Mein, Pork dish, fried rice and prawn crackers, not the biggest order. The portion size was fairly small which is fine not a big eater. The pork escalope dish dry no sauce and very salty, the chow mein (thin noodles) very salty, 4 small pieces of beef. The prawn crackers were really oily and stale tasting. £14 order, sorry Saphire you need to do better.

Everything was dark, overdone and tough; spare ribs were like leather and even the egg on the special fried rice was burnt at the edges. It arrived lukewarm which takes away the point of having anything in batter. The sweet and sour sauce was neither, more like a red coagulated glue for the use of too much cornflour. Should have stayed away as didn't learn the lesson last time

Open till 11 but got delivered at 10.17pm after requesting it to be delivered at 10.50 because the driver finished at 10.20! What’s the point of being open till 11 what about people that work! Also food not cooked right! Must have been in a rush to get home! Usually a good place to order from but disappointed!! New owners dropped the ball!!

The food was just about edible. Chicken and mushroom with black bean sauce had more onion than chicken. Chicken satay actually made your eyes water. The shredded chilly chicken was beyond greasy. I went based on an online review but i'll never go back.

We have been eating at sapphire for many years and have never had a bad meal there. The food is always of the highest standard and the service is second to none

We frequently buy carry out meals from the Sapphire when our two Daughters visit us. Our spend entitles is to free prawn crackers which we all enjoy. The food quality is reliably excellent. We usually collect our order since it’s only 5 minutes by car from our house. The food is always ready for collection at the specified time, hot and ready to go.

Fantastic good food, only down size is telephone communication from takeaway phone person can be poor at time’s which can be very annoying

I've been a regular at the Sapphire for years and googled to see if I could find a menu online only to be surprised by so many poor reviews and felt it only fair to add my tuppence worth. Although I am a creature of habit and stick to my usual orders (either chicken chow mein or lemon chicken) I have never once been disappointed by the wait time or the quality of the food. I find the prices very fair compared to other chinese takeaways and the staff are always efficient and polite.

Husband went in to order & collect food about an hour ago. Order was wrong!! Odrered for me beef with green pepper & black bean sauce, got crispy chilli beef instead!! Sooo disappointed!! King prawn chow mein for my son was very very bland. Such a shame.👎👎

I keep trying this place. Have always been disappointed. I, for the first time ever, had a Chicken Kung Po dish at the Lee On Chinese restaurant in Bruntsfield Edinburgh. Fantastic. Tried it tonight in a Livingston Chinese restaurant. Was unable to know whether I was eating chicken. It was encased in an extremely hard batter. Was supplied within 3 or 4 minutes of my order. Suspicious? Yesterdays? Will not ever go back.

DOWN HILL! took my friend for dinner and was seated at a table with a dirty table cloth so asked to move and the server made it clear she was not very happy. Food was ok however we were both served at different time.

Chicken ginger pineapple awful. Overpowered with ginger. Chips rubbish. Partner didn't like hers either. Whole meal felt like it had been cooked in a rush. Pleasant service. Won't be back for a long time.

Really tasty food, well above average. Delivered with timescale quoted. Large portions. We had special chow mien, duck and vegetable rolls, spare ribs, crispy beef, lemon chicken and kungpo chicken along with egg fried rice.

Lovely food, and the waiter is fantastic!

There was 9 of us as it was a birthday party and 1st of all they brought out too many starters that we didnt order but my neice didnt get her's untill we had all finished ours, but when they brought the plates out they were burning so much so I burnt 3 of my fingers and 1 of them blistered straight away and I asked if they had a burn dressing they brought me a normal elasplast which was of no use. When the main meal came they brought out too many again and said that we had ordered all of them which we didnt and once again another one of my family waited for her meal for ages. out of 9 of us only 3 cleared there plate mine & my nephew's chicken balls where raw inside so we had to take the chicken so we could eat it without the raw batter, so sorry Saphire but we wont be coming back.

We visited Sapphire on a Sunday evening after spending the day in Edinburgh. The restaurant was empty, bar another table of two, but we put this down to the fact that it was a Sunday evening - the takeaway side of the business was certainly busy. We ordered prawn toast, salt chilli chips, cantonese king prawns, beef curry and egg fried rice. Possibly due to the quiet nature of the restaurant, the food came very quickly, but it was piping hot and incredibly fresh. We have had takeaway from here a few times, but would definitely come back again for dine-in, as the food was much fresher (and the portions bigger!). Overall, a very tasty, enjoyable meal, with efficient service - we will come back. Recommended if you're in the Livingston area.

This isn’t a restaurant, it is a DUMP! The food? That’s a compliment to call it food, you wouldnt even serve it to a dog, og wait, they use dog meat!

We use this restaurant a lot and have never been disappointed with the q u laity of the food. Portions are very generous.

Visited with friends on New Years Eve. Food was the usual ‘run of the mill’ Chinese. Service was good & staff very friendly. Prices were very reasonable. Would definitely visit again, due to locality, & would probably try the takeaway meals in the future.

Ordered takeaway from this establishment a number of times. As of late the service and speed seems to have got much worse. Arriving to collect ordered meals after the 20 - 30mins advised to have to wait a further 40mins is laughable.

We ordered Singapore noodle and for assurance asked if Chicken was Halal and no Ham to be in the dish. Went home and realised that there was Pork in it. Called the lady who served us. Instead of being apologetic she was arguing. Bad enough putting pork in when I am a Muslim and asked if dish was Halal. But what made it worse was that there was no apology and instead she was extremely rude. will not be going back and will be tell other's about it.

I read all the negative and bad comments about Sapphire.. But cmon chaps what exactly are you expecting from a very small and extremely busy local Chinese restaurant and takeaway?

Brilliant food , great staff plenty on the plate, this is where we will be heading over xmas and new year as we both know that we will be well catered for !

We have been to the sapphire a few times for a sit in meal and really enjoyed the food so we decided to order a takaway. It took 1hour 20mins to arrive, fair enough we were told the driver had had an accident and was late for his work. The food I think had been sitting about that long before it was delivered. The crispy beef was chewy and soggy as was the Peking chicken. The chicken satay had an extra snapped off priece of scewer inside it and the sauce had separated. Chips were soggy and everything was warm at best. Will not be using again.

Got a delivery last night of chicken curry, fried rice and chips, the chicken curry was literally like dish water, it was so thin it was unbelievable, the chips were also black and soggy, they obviously hadn't changed the oil from a busy weekend, never eat the chips never eat the curry, the fried rice was tasty though

Whenever we order a Chinese we order from Saphire but not now!! Took over 4 hours for a delivery once and the last time over 2 hours. When we phone to ask where our order is the lady on the phone is so rude. Not once apologetic and has hung up on us so many time the night we waited 4 hours. The order was placed before 6 and arrived after 10. The delivery driver was extremely apologetic and told me himself he had about 10 orders at the same time which meant my food was cold and disgusting. I loved Saphire but because of how rude the lady is on the phone I will not be ordering food from there ever again. She is horribly rude and is so argumentative on the phone. She doesn’t let the customers speak and is so quick to hang up on the customer! What ashame because the food is good but the Customer Service absolutely terrible! She is definitely letting Saphire down!!!!

Hands down one of the worst Chinese takeaways I have ever used. We ordered 4 meals for each member of the family and all of them were terrible. Even the prawn crackers were not cooked properly. The chicken balls were tasteless and like rubber. The chicken chow mein had hardly any chicken in it ,and the soup was clearly a re heat from weeks ago possibly even canned. Avoid at all costs and trust me the cost is high!

My wife and I visited the Sapphire today and had a lovely meal. The staff are excellent, the food is superb and the ambience is great. You must make a visit if you are in the area.

Sit in or carry out. This is a busy concern showing a lot of folk rate the food that delivers 3 to 4 star quality. Fast service will happily eat here again.

Honestly the best Chinese meal we have had in ages!! Chicken curry was great with the perfect amount of kick to hit, sweat and sour chicken Szechuan style was also really tasty. Service was also very friendly and efficient. Looking to coming back!!!!!

Tried the sapphire just before the weekend cannot comment as to the rest of the food but I bought a beef curry and the curry sauce was so thick it would not come out the tub amid tipping it.just watch its very spicy OK if you like that.

Visited this venue a lot of times. However on our last visit my friend and I were a bit disappointed. My chicken satay though nice was just a bit "too hot" (spice wise) actually made my eyes water!!. (I normally like hot food). Also the rice wrapped prawns that my friend had seemed to be rather "greasy". However the main we had the Beef with ginger and noodles was delicious. My friend also thought the coffee was too strong, although I enjoyed mine. Rather disappointed on this particular visit, but no doubt wont put us off returning in the future.

Ordered food last night and was advised it would be 15 minutes, I went around after 15 to be advised ‘cheekily ‘ by the female (older) that it wasn’t ready! That was it for another 22 minutes I waited and waited, now if it had been just for me I would have left it and never waited but we had a house full. So I was getting food for five people! Eventually when it was ready ( I was one of about 15-20 people waiting) I paid and left. No apology no thank you for your business no acknowledgment of the terrible customer service that yet again they think us okay. When I got back the food was disgusting, the soup was fine. However the chicken dishes were very low on the main ingredient of chicken. The noodles were hard in places almost like they had been reheated .... I tried to phone to complain and the phone was constantly engaged for an hour after! Either they need to increase staff with knowledge of cooking or close down!.... poorest customer service ever and we won’t be buying from there again!

Phoned last night and ordered for delivery and was told they were busy and may be an hour for delivery . Waited over an hour and called back but phone was constantly engaged . Delivery never came before it was late so just left it. Phoned the next day to complain as I am a regular customer and was accused by the arrogant and egotistical woman on the phone of saying it was for collection and not delivery . I argued the point that that was not the case but she more or less accused me of lying. After I argued the point she eventually agreed to give me a freebie of what I ordered but I would have to pay the delivery driver. That wasn't unreasonable and thought at least they value their regular customers. What arrived was not what I ordered and in fact a complete insult. Fried rice and a spring roll! Nothing like I had ordered the night before and pretty much paid for by the delivery charge. I phoned back to sort out the issue and was met by an ignorant female who shouted over me accusing me of lying and telling me she no longer wants my custom before slamming the phone down on me!!. Just shows they have no respect for their customers and unwilling to admit they are wrong.will never order from them again and would not recommend them .

This is a lovely place for an evening meal & also carry outs! We have carry outs quite regular & never been disappointed!
