Santorini Greek Cafe & Restaurant in Darlington

Not up to usual standards, driver had squashed all the packaging, lamb kofta were overcooked, missing items

One place to certainly avoid, poor food quality, poor service and terrible management

I highly recommend Santorini restaurant. The food is amazing and had so much flavour. Cooked to absolute perfection. I tried a different greek fast food restaurant last week because santorini wasn't open and it was so bland it was nothing like what we get from santorini. The flavours and everything are just completely out of this world from santorini.

Food was hot and not bad taste, but chips was wet not crispy, salt warm and looks like cooked, should be packed in separate box. Chicken was tasty but bread crumbs comes separate from chicken breast.

I have ordered from santorini's loads (normally directly) and this was the first time I was left disappointed, ordered at 7.24 and I got my food at 9.30 and I picked ASAP delivery time. It was on time according to Just eat as they did update the delivery time. When the food came I was past the point of being hungry. the great seasoning that they add to the chips that make them good wasn't on. they may have had a busy day, food still came pipping hot. but think I will go back to ordering direct.

Used to start delivery alot earlier than 18.25, and still 30 mins late?

The food was not good. The lamb was some kind of reconstituted pattie. There was one guy serving and cooking. He was doing his best but this was not the authentic Greek experience we’d hoped for. The olives were the cheapest from a jar. The salad tasted like pre-packaged. We didn’t get any pitta. The loo wasn’t clean. Not a great experience.

ordered for a 6pm collection. had to wait until 640pm - missing items from the order. disappointing, the food we did have was tasty

We have ordered from here before and have enjoyed it, tonight however we were really disappointed. We waited 3 hours for food, 1hr 20 mins passed the given delivery time, and 40 mins after they said it was out for delivery when I contacted them. Cold, dried out and in the hands of a very stressed out new to the job delivery driver. When speaking to the restaurant I was told they were really behind. I wish at that point I had cancelled.

Lovely place to eat. Food was very tasty and portions were generous. We really enjoyed our meal. Good service and fair prices. Unfortunately, there was only one other customer on a Saturday evening, peak time. Also worth a mention that the toilet was spotless and everything from wipes to sanitary products available.

First time we've ordered a takeaway from here, and it won't be the last. The Gyros were the best I've ever eaten and the Santorini chips were amazing.

Tried this after reading some "hidden gem" reviews, they were not wrong. The food was amazing, up there with some of the nicest Greek I've had outside of Greece! Atmosphere inside is lovely especially on a dark night where all the lights are on.

Visited with two friends very nice welcoming staff it’s small and cosy venue I’d recommend beef stifado some of the best Greek food I’ve had outside of Greece

WOW was not expecting it too be that good but the chicken was cooked to perfection succulent perfectly seasoned the bread was amazing and sauces were so good. This is real good quality food

Just had a takeaway order from here and it was genuinely brilliant - best takeaway food we’ve had in ages! Great tasting food, served in very generous portions. Everything from the tzatziki to the chicken, to the pita was awesome. I went to collect the order and the service was brilliant, the staff (including the manager) were all very friendly and welcoming (despite it being the end of the day). I look forward to dining in some time soon! Couldn’t recommend it enough :)

The Greek night was amazing, I don’t normally write reviews but after the amazing night we had I felt I had to, our daughters 11th birthday was accommodated perfectly with cake and plate smashing and dancing ( she didn’t believe me when I said we would be smashing plates) it made our night and the food was, as always, brilliant, I would 100% recommend coming here for food and we will definitely coming back for another Greek night, perfect for kids and family nights out, the music was perfect to accompany meal, we danced, we laughed, we ate, we drank and we smashed, perfect night. We are looking forward to next Greek night and can’t wait

What an amazing night! We went to the Greek night and it was the most fun I've had since being in Greece before lockdown. So much effort goes into making this an authentic and fun evening that you can completely forget you're actually in Darlington. Incredible food, with portion sizes that are so generous we've even got our lunch the next day. Five stars - we can't wait for the next one!

By far the best restaurant in this area and the best Greek Food I have ever had in my life! The Chef and staff are beyond incredible and make you feel like part of their family. The chef even went out of his way to order special ingredients and make me my favorite (off menu) very time consuming traditional greek dish! I cannot recommend this restaurant more. If you are looking for an unforgettable dining experience this is your place! Price, Quality, Service all 10/10.

Lovely food and the lady who served us was amazing but it was so cold in the restaurant, apart from that we would eat there again.

Food is ok here but the service regarding deliveries is extremely poor which over shadows the experience. They often quote delivery times of around 1 hour, 30 minutes but deliver between 2 and 3 hours. It would be great if they could re-think and improve their delivery strategy or remove the option completely if a standard service is unattainable.

True family restaurant and real food.

WONDERFUL!!!! We have just had a fabulous meal at santorini The halloumi cheese and dips were amazing with the pitta bread, the gyros was better than anywhere I have been in Greece, all washed down with plenty of ice cold mythos beer. The baclava was sticky and sweet and yummy. The boss man and top chef even let us sample his Greek delight and it was truly scrumptious. My son says this is the best place to eat in the town and I would not disagree, great food and lovely staff, we will definitely be back again. A hidden gem well worth a visit.

We celebrated our daughters 18th Birthday here which was fab. Georgios and his staff were amazing they couldn't do enough for us they made us so welcome and the food, what can I say it was incredible. We'll be back.

Very tasty wraps available for takeaway, chock full of filling. Just watch out for portion size. A single wrap is big enough to fill any normal person up, so be careful adding additional things. With the wraps you do NOT need additional chips.

I decided to treat myself and my daughter as it's her 16th birthday. Food was 20 mins late...... Lady rang me too tell me this and gave my 2 bottle's of beer for the inconvenience. Honestly hands down the best steak burger I have ever eaten, either in a restaurant or more importantly a takeaway!!!!! It's ridiculous how the thought,care and quality is achieved by these guy's and girls, perfect garlic mayo,home cooked chips,cooked to perfection, beautifully balanced salad and steak burgers clearly made by someone who loves meat! Trust me I manage a food outlet making food fresh to order,and that my friends is why I won't go anywhere else every again! Bravo Santorini's,5 stars is just not enough!

Managed to get a last minute order in this evening and could not be happier. Even though we offered to collect due to it being late, they still offered us delivery. The person on the phone was brilliant too, so helpful, polite and happy. The food came in really good time, and every bit of our order was cooked to perfection and tasted absolutely unreal!! 100% would recommend to anybody!

Arrived at the restaurant at 8.30 pm, just to be informed that the kitchen had closed and staff sent home even though it is advertised as being open until 10 pm. I would give no stars if I could!

The website states that this restaurant closes at 2200. Just arrived at 2030 to be told they're closing early because it wasn't busy enough!

Had over 20+ meals there both takeaway and sit down, again there today for breakfast. Excellent and child friendly

Hadn't realised they'd moved from their old spot but the new place looks great (think it was a few months since they moved but i don't visit Darlington often). Food still as authentic and delicious as ever, great value and the hosts warm and accommodating. Love this place :-)

Make sure you are hungry as the portions were huge. Very quiet when we visited one late afternoon. Friendly staff and all in all a pleasant experience.

There is no value for money - prices are outrageous for a takeaway-style place, but could be justified if the food was really delicious. I'm afraid I've had a better moussaka as Tesco's own premium range ready meal... I at first even thought it's me being fussy, but my friend couldn't even finish her meal how bland and unimpressive it was. A big disappointment.

Without a doubt one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Since being young I have allways loved Greek styled foods and in particular their cheese dishes and sauces. This place is a haven for lovers of deli foods, cheeses and everything both sweet and savory. It has a brilliant atmosphere that is complimented by the interesting culinary stories and skill that all the staff put into the business. If you are in the north east, let alone darlington, give this place your attention and you will come away wanting more and more.

This place is a hidden gem, very reasonable and very tasty. This authentic Greek restaurant took me back to Cephalonia despite the constant Darlo downpour going on outside. We were also given a free dessert because all of the desserts are made fresh each morning and not kept later than the same evening!

We just had the most incredible meal at Santorini. The veal, mushroom and truffle dish was one of the best meals we’ve had. We also had the chicken gyros, which was fresh and delicious, and the lamb casserole. We were welcomed as though we were family by ge most obliging and wonderful man, who turns out to be the owner and the chef. We can not recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Absolutely fantastic find in Darlington. Honest, delicious food that's freshly prepared and clean (not oily or greasy). If you're a dessert person try the baklava and ask for chocolate sauce - freshly prepared rich sauce that will change your perspective on how chocolate sauce should be (we were given some to take home too - thank you!). We will be back to try more of this great menu and relaxed atmosphere.

Avoid chicken gyros at all costs. Total rip-off!! It looked and tasted as though they had ran across the road to Tesco and bought a pack of cold chicken slices, heated them up and sprinkled some spice over them. Heated some cheap frozen oven fries, then served with tzatziki dip and some salad. Will never be using them again. I've had gyros in several places throughout Europe and have never seen or tasted rubbish like this. On a positive side, the balsamic dressing was nice. Maybe also obtained from Tesco on the visit.
