Santore in Islington

Tasty enough but several mistakes made... Two out of 6 of our orders were wrong - more expensive mixed grills were brought out. We agreed to take them but expected not to be charged the upgraded cost, but when the bill came, we found we were charged the upgraded price. Chose not to make a fuss but it's poor service really. Grilled veg with grilled salmon was largely cold (kept in fridge and rearmed I reckon). Other than that, all fine.

Really big and spacious and lovely outdoor dining space. Portions are generous and really good value for money. Would recommend getting a pizza or a garlic bread for the table because the dough is sooooo delicious. Will be coming back! Spent £30 for a glass of wine, a pasta, and garlic bread .

Classic, authentic, and comfortable Italian restaurant for comfort food and comfort environment. The only difficulty is deciding what to get because it all looks amazing. The speed of service is remarkable (though not pushy in the least) and the wait for walking tables is always very very doable (if any). It's frequently busy and nor hard to see why. Not least, I recently forgot my purse and instead of waiting for me to call them panicked the next day, an extremely kind member of staff followed us a few blocks as we were leaving to alert me to it and return it. Honestly blown away by that. Nonetheless, the food is excellent and we will be back again as it is a favourite:)

There's a certain charm to this restaurant . The food was very good, though perhaps a touch expensive for the quantity. The Italian looking chef wrapping himself when popping out as though he was entering the arctic, I like to think gave a feeling of Italian authenticity. It was just after lunch time , so readily served by delightful and polite staff. The place has few soft furnishings, so all the hard surfaces mean it's a bit noisy , especially where the wine on certain tables is plentiful. I enjoyed my meal and visit here and no doubt will return. Thank you

One of the few pizzerias serving panuozzos, Sarracino one is good. Unfortunately their online order platform is a joke: prices are the same as main menu, dish availability is not updated (they ran out of Easter special pastiera and I learn about at the restaurant, no refunds, their tiramisu tastes like Poundland's) and ETA increases every minute - still going on after I collected the order! Staff were apologetic but overall negative experience.

Popular, casual Italian resto in the busy Exmouth market district of Clerkenwell. I enjoyed the swordfish, but the menu includes many favourite options, including pizza.

Thoroughly enjoyed my latest trip to Santore on a Saturday afternoon. I had the rolled pizza with mozzarella, ricotta, a smoked cheese and aubergine, with mixed veg on the side. It took a few minutes extra to arrive but not too much of a problem, I was worried about my veg going cold. Rolled pizza was very large in size, fresh and delicious. I think they use sourdough bases, which adds to the flavour and gives a springy texture that's satisfying to eat. Friend very much enjoyed his pasta with sausage and broccoli sauce, again a nice big portion. They forgot to bring the bill, but as there were enough staff on, it was easy to find someone to remind them. Difficult to use a 5* scale but I'll go for the generous side as these places need our support and this restaurant is fun and vibrant, with a menu I love, full of rustic, tempting dishes.

Was my first time trying this place last night and I wasn't disappointed. We had a 1/2 metre pizza (yes, they do it as a full metre too!) which arrived on a platform to keep it away from the plates and drinks, which is a great idea. There are some great vegetarian options here and the pizza was definitely some of the best I've had in London, super fresh and tasty ingredients and the tomato base was perfect. The staff were really friendly and quick to take our order, and I Have literally nothing to complain about. Highly recommended!

I love Italian food but this restaurant was a huge disappointment. I ordered Pappardelle with Porcini mushrooms and king prawns. The pasta took 'al dente' to extremes as it was really tough. The porcini mushrooms tasted gritty and were otherwise tasteless. My husband ordered seafood pasta and said it was really nice. I wish I had chosen something else. It was my birthday meal as well.... service and wine were both OK so I have given this review 3***.

Very good food. 2 sea food starters and 2 pasta dishes, the best I’ve had for a long time outside of Italy. Wine list is reasonably priced too.

Visited Tuesday evening for dinner. Friendly and attentive service, fantastic pizzas and desserts, would happily recommend.

Ordered on deliveroo a lasagna and cream caramel, I have tried excellent lasagna before and this in comparison was mediocre something you could make at home.. the cream caramel held no shape at all unfortunately and was just a mushy ball :( I had high hopes this review is only for the hope of improvement!! Thankful regardless

Being Italian I think I have the right knowledge to valutate this place. The taste of the food its quite far from the same you can eat in Italy especially for the fish plates I tried in this place. Big portions and well presented though. The staff very kind and able to suggest you the right choice for you.

Pizza by length here is just THE BEST IN LONDON. No more words needed, really. My suggestions: tartufata and rustica ✓

Dreadful pasta. Clagy and stuck together like it had been cooked in too little water and then left to sit in it. The ragu with porcini was tasty enough but there was grit in it, someone hadn’t prepped the dried porcini properly. It took over 1.5 hours to get our meals to us… staff couldn’t have cared less. Shame, we’ve just moved in locally and would loved to have made this a regular, but I won’t be back.

Not good. Staff are rude. We waited 15mins for our reserved table. Food took nearly 1.5hrs. Pizza was burned around edges but soggy in the middle pasta was claggy and stuck together. This is ersatz italian that looks as though they got complacent because of the good location around 2011 and never really moved on...

Entire tables and pasta arrived cold, instead of offering to re-cook our food, they put it in the oven, so the pasta was overcooked and claggy. One of our party had a pizza and that seemed nice, but generally the food was prepared with no love. They seem to only be interested in the money as it’s overpriced, for what it is.

Great food, but terrible service! if you go with a large group, avoid it. I regretfully suggested to my friends to book the Christmas dinner there. The waiter overcharged us and spoke in Italian to everyone, even though there were only few Italians, myself included, among us. Shame, because the food is good, particularly the mussels!

Managed to squeeze us in on a rammed Friday night. Absolutely superb. Fab Octopus Salad, amazing Woodfired Pizza and Tiramisu to die for. Interesting wines, very reasonably priced.

I can't recommend this restaurant enough. The menu was diverse, catering to all tastes. The food was cooked to perfection, and the presentation was stunning. The waitstaff were extremely knowledgeable and made great recommendations.

My daughter booked this restaurant for 11 people for my granddaughter birthday. Unfortunately her other baby was taken very ill and we cancelled the table 25 hours beforehand. The man on the phone was very rude and refused to give her deposit back. This was disgraceful behaviour. Will not be recommending this restaurant again

4 of us came here for an early supper before travelling home to various parts of teh country. We were allocated a tabel on the condition we finished within 90minutes, which was fine We went for mains and a drink each. Risotto, pizza, pasta and a fish dish Everyone was happy with the food, the risotto was enormous and could't be finished, the fish dish generous and the pizza large. Nothing to get excited about but good Italian cuisine none the less The prices overall reasonable and the service friendly

Good value and big portions but food isnt amazing. This is more of a place for quick work lunches than a special delicious meal. However food still good service great staff always friendly and prices are reasonable. Very big portions if you get the risotto etc!

We booked for after dance at Sadlers Wells. Checking the reviews before our visit I was a bit concerned it might have gone downhill since our last visit but was glad to find that wasn’t the case. This is a simple, Italian. Service and food where as you’d expect in a simple Italian and prices about what you’d expect. Two starters, two mains, a bottle of wine, a grappa and a coffee £123. You could have a cheaper meal - pizza and beer but it wasn’t what we fancied. The intention was to have a pizza but the menu had dishes we don’t often see in our local Italian restaurants so we decided to leave pizza for meals nearer home and go for starters and mains we have less often. The portions were too big for us. My starter of braesola would have been ok to share between us and neither of us finished our main. When my husband wanted a grappa they brought the menu for him to choose from four. Choosing we’d expect in Italy but generally at more high end places here. This is going to stay on our list for somewhere to eat after dance at Sadlers Wells - they shut early for a relaxed meal after other shows for us. They do shut at the time they say and we’ve seen people turned away. Understandable as they have to clear up before they can go home so closing time isn’t going home time for the staff.

Solid spot for casual Italian fare - the spaghetti vongole is delicious and the funghi pizza is decent (skip the tomato and onion salad). Buzzy vibe and well priced.

We had a lovely meal last night. We sat outside and even though weather was wet and miserable, the heater and canopy kept us cosy. Service was good and food was great. We were very pleased.

Booked for 5. Understood completely that it was closed until 5, so took a stroll around exmouth. We had our two year old with us. At 4.58, we walked over to the door, and smiled and made eye contact with the server to show we were ready. Our son began to get extremely fussy as he was hungry, and the server made eye contact, stood up and then turned around and sat down. It was 4.58, and there was no explanation or anything. We were made to wait outside. By 5.02, doors were still not open, so we left and cancelled our booking. Such a shame, as have had such good experiences there before, but this really tarred it for us. Understand completely they need a lunch break, but at 4.58 with a screaming baby, you’d think they would be slightly more understanding and better customer service.

Just walk into Santore, seated and very lifeless... No interaction 😭 walked straight back out 🙈 Would not recommend as couple, family or celebrating.

I decided to take a break for about 7 years from this place due to a very unpleasant group experience at this venue. I gave it another try. Ordered a pasta which was decent and my partners salad was okay too. After halfway eating the food I realised that it was the incorrect one. I guess my expectations were high as I remember the food here used to be very good. Perhaps it’s the service. Atmosphere is nice though and restaurant setting is nice.

The food here was fantastic, but unfortunately the same could not be said about the service. An older gentleman who worked there clearly wanted to rush us to the point where when we asked for time to look at the menu, we got a tut and a sigh. Same again when he asked if we wanted dessert.

Sehr gute Pizzen zu einem fairen Preis, zudem sehr kompetentes Personal. Definitiv einen Besuch wert!

We were treated in a very weird way. We were given a table for just an hour and then kicked out, the staff was super rude about it, specially the manager, couldn’t enjoy my food with such horrible service

I have been an occasional customer for at least 15 years and had an excellent wedding reception there in 2011. I booked an outside table for 5pm, after the Theatre but arrived 15 minutes early. They were fixing the outside blind, so I was told , 'We are closed, come back later'. No explanation. I have been to Italy at least 50 times, and in my experience no Italian restaurant would have turned us away. They would have sat us inside with a drink and a menu until the table was ready. My wife and I are in our eighties.

One of my favourite places for pizza in London. But not only pizza is good. Bonus points, they can also do a Negroni "sbagliato".

Love Santoré. Been here a handful of times and always come out massively delighted. The staff are lovely and welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious, full of flavour and excites the senses - and super filling too!! Every single time I go, feels like I'm on holiday. I'll be back again soon

Fantastic energy and great food. I had the pasta with smoke mozzarella and eggplant which was excellent. The portions are also quite generous, so shareable.

One star just for the pizza which I enjoyed, other than that is a disaster! Firstly, the staff did not greet and was very rude. Secondly, I was charged 2-3£ for Idk what, I was in a rush and didnt pay too much attention. Maybe it was a tip, which I didnt know why should be in my bill, since is my decission if I want to pay for it (in this case not even 1pence). If there was a charge for something else it should be said before by the waiters, I was lucky I had my other card with me. I will never go back there, if you dont want to pay money for nothing, avoid this place! REPLY I did not have a menu, because I knew already what I wanted, and I paid by card, since is discretionary the waiter could have informed me. She just put the amount without asking in the card machine and did not even said Thank you. Basically, did not gave me a choice, I did not say nothing because they were rude and I was scared to be embarrased in front of others. Also, was the first restaurant which did not let me to smoke on the outside area, the waiter came and said very unpolitely "U cant smoke here"! Im not kind of person that leaves reviews unless something was very wrong. Instead of giving responses here, try to train your staff! All the best!

Food great, service a bit slow, bathroom a bit messy. But food really great

Lovely find after the pub we went too wasn't serving food. Fab pasta, followed by light & creamy Tiramisu and liqueur coffee. Good quality food, good service and reasonable price

We had a table booked for 2.30pm lunch. Staff were definitely lacking in any form of friendly greeting/service directing us to our table. Whilst still eating our starters, only then were we informed that as the kitchen closes at 3pm, they would have to bring out the mains, which they then proceeded to deliver and put on an empty table next to us. Our mains were luke warm but the veg was cold, which we couldn’t eat. We are all aware of the current practice of shrinkflation but the swordfish was as thin as a rizla paper. Staff also hovered nearby, making us feel exceptionally uncomfortable and rushed. This is a restaurant, who are uninterested in the satisfaction of their clientele. Our complaint was met with an angry mumbling of inaudible English and the final insult, we paid a £110 for this appalling experience. The one star represents the starters of mussels which was tasty, a good portion size and we both thoroughly enjoyed. Will definitely never return.

Can only speak for the pizza food-wise, was pretty good. Service/staff something to work on, didn't feel very welcomed.

I have been going to Santore since it opened and have always had a great experience- ie a friendly welcome and great food. Sadly, my experience in the 3 visits I’ve made in recent months has been poor and I will be looking elsewhere. The service is rushed, almost frenzied. Then, after taking our order for food and drinks, the pizza arrived almost immediately - with no water or wine. Not exactly a relaxing start to the evening. The pizza was lukewarm and mean - the topping was sparse, I honestly could have got a much better pizza from the supermarket. The service was perfunctory- I felt they were just churning tables and I was made to feel they were doing us a favour rather than the other way round. I do hope they can turn it around as it has always been a favourite.

Excellent food and atmosphere. We loved this restaurant and it was probably one of the best meal i had in London. It was busy it, but the wait staff made sure we were taken care of.

Undercooked calamari, chewy. Service was quick but delicious impersonal and chaotic. Pizzas looked insane wish I had gone for that. Overpriced

Unexpected extra guest, a RAT fell from the AC vent onto neighbouring table. The rat ran round for about 5 minutes. The staff eventually shooed it out with a broom, only for it to return a few minutes later. Do not eat here!!!!!

The food was delicious and well priced. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We really enjoyed everything we ordered and would definitely come back again.

The Exmouth Market is an amazing place to find just what you want to eat. This place was superb. Highly recommended.

Pizza buona ma bruciacchiata (forno a legna ma poca attenzione), spaghetti attaccati (cucinati con poca cura) ma sugo decente. Attenti alle birre! Costano più di un primo piatto! Ma siamo quasi in centro a Londra, difficile aspettarsi di meglio.

Average food and truly dreadful service. We were told once seated we only had 90 minutes at our table, which is insane and which we weren’t told when booking. We sat down at 7pm and didn’t receive our main courses until 8.10pm (they forgot one), and yet they still told us we had to leave at 8.30. The staff were incomprehensibly rude and it’s clear money is the most important thing to them. Don’t bother - there are way better places on Exmouth Market

I wish I had read the previous appalling reviews before booking this restaurant for dinner with family. Mediocre food, overpriced, and dreadful service. Go somewhere else - there are many fantastic restaurants in Exmouth Market - sadly this is definitely not one of them.

Managed to accommodate our group of four within an hour, great service and delicious 🍕 pizza. Had the 1m wood fire baked pizza..

On a sunny day I asked to be seated outside. There were 8 free seats in tables of 2. I was left to stand for almost ten minutes and blatantly ignored by three different waiters. Eventually one came over and said they wouldn’t seat me as I was on my own and they wouldn’t give up a table for 2. Arrogant and rude. I went down the road to the next restaurant where I was treated with respect and spent £60. I am making a booking for 10 people for this week and will not be taking them to this restaurant now or ever again as a result of their rudeness. Treat your customers better.
