We have paid around £140 for the room and generally for this amount of money I would personally expect a different standard. Bathroom was clean and staff very professional. The downside is that the hotel, from my point of view is in desperate need of updating , especially as it's potential is amazing. Is placed in a great location. There is rust on the radiators, the window lock was broken and you can feel the cold air coming from outside as the window didn't close properly. There are marks and scratches on furniture, which yes, I know it happens but if you want to stand up for the level or standard you can be and advertise you are, there some improvements to be made. From the window if we looked left we could see the sea which was great, bit if you look left you can see the outside of the building and rooms, grey and full of mould... Again, could be awesame, but it needs refurbishment. Will I stay here again? Probably not, as there are other places which offer a more accurate price to actual value of the hotel.

Only ate in the restaurant as they don't accept dogs in the rooms. Meal was lovely but the waiting staff are a nightmare.

I think the gardeners went on strike some weeks ago. And no lime or lemon available for your gin & tonic after 9.30 pm due to health & safety according to the bar man 3/10/24 Mark Taylor

We have stayed here 3 times now and enjoyed it each time. The location is superb, being literally on the beach. As it is a seaside hotel, it is a bit tired, but we expect that. The staff were lovely and hard working. We ate in the restaurant 2 out of the 3 nights and the food was very good. It is a bit limiting for us as being an Italian restaurant, and neither of us eats cheese, so there is a lot we can't eat. The food we had, though, was very good. We will most definitely come back. We spent our honeymoon here 44 years ago and celebrated our 40th anniversary here. We came back for our anniversary again this year, and we are sure to be back in the future as well. We would recommend a Seaview room as the views for us are better than the harbour rooms.

Lovely birthday stay. Rooms starting to tire. They need to address this.

I booked this hotel for my partner for his 30th. I should have trusted the reviews because the hotel and facilities are EXTREMELY dated and dirty looking. The pool was a state and riddled with limescale including our hotel bathroom. Beds are not double but two singles pushed together that come apart easy, not ideal or comfortable. The hotel said they could do something special for my partners 30th but did nothing which was a shame. We left a homemade (large) birthday cake on the reception desk and forgot it as we were leaving. The receptionists were very aware this belonged to us as we had a lengthy discussion at the counter. They also knew we were going to Haven hotel to use the spa facilities before beginning our journey home, yet no attempt was made to call about the cake and the large box it came in. This was obviously a huge disappointment when we made the 3 hour journey home and realised we were cakeless. The rooms are spacious and the view is lovely (when you pay £60 extra for sea view). Overall, not worth how much it is, facilities are poor, staff aren’t helpful and I probably wouldn’t stay again unfortunately.

Just checked in at this hotel, no air con and very out dated room tiny tv and no coffee machine certainly not worth £320! The Haven hotel is far superior. Feel a bit ripped off 😕

Would agree with other more recent comments. Trades off a fabulous location and needs updating. Found the hotel restaurant (Amalfi) best avoided (pizza was so so and the starter disappointing). The beach pizza was nice though. We stayed in the Peninsula suite and it has direct views onto the sea. But the rooms do need an upgrade (stuck in the 80s). Water sports abound and can’t fault the location. Staff are pleasant but let down by dated facilities.

Beautiful location, helpful staff, but very tired decor and rooms, although the view from the sea facing rooms with balcony match many European Beach resorts! Relies on location to avoid the pressing need to refurb! Three stars for rooms only because we had the sea view and balcony!

Lovely location and is on the beach, hotel a little dated but I can see there are updates happening. My room was one that looks like it has been updated and is nice. Generous with the drinks selection, bed comfortable and bathroom was very clean. I wasn’t keen on the restaurant located in the hotel, staff were nice but not a great selection as I am not really a pizza fan so I opted for the Pork loin which was tough and the mash potatoes tasted suspiciously like out of a freeze dried packet. There is a Tesco express next door which was handy, another restaurant called Jazz and I did eat here and the food was lovely, would highly recommend, however other places to eat were a bit of a walk or a drive away. Nice hotel but not a 4 star and sadly I wouldn’t return.

Honestly, have to say I had a wonderful time spent at sandbanks hotel but this was because of the wonderful company I had and the marvellous views. Reading a few other reviews I agree. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are not consistent with the decor or standards. You are paying for the view really. We stayed here with a party of 8 so we're scattered around the hotel. My room was classed as a superior sea view room. The furniture was outdated and the curtains were poorly hung and outdated. The carpets were old and worn out in places. Most important the beds were very uncomfortable, just hard. A good note the room was clean. Other than the uncomfortable beds the next disappointment was the shower pressure, the shower hose needed a new washer and was leaking but it was so weak that I had to struggle to rinse off the shower gel and small amount of sand. Because I visited my friends in their rooms I know how inconsistent the decor is. The ground floor room no sea view had nicer curtains and plush carpet and superb shower pressure. My friend also paid way less money per night than I did. Overall, I would recommend visiting this hotel because of the location and although the customer service of one or two staff could be improve, the majority of the staff are wonderful. I just hope they will refurbish the rooms so you can feel you are getting what you paid for. Note to management. Upgrade beds, tv and check the shower pressure in the rooms.

Lovely rooms, really liked the look of the Social bar / restaurant. Service at the bar was great, but service in the restaurant was terrible. Was told to find myself a table at breakfast and it was a job finding one that didn't have dirty plates on it. The lady who was on made no attempt to clear anything, quite bizarre. Needs the proverbial rocket up the backside.
