Had the best meal at San Fairie Ann I can remember. Great birthday night out with all the family. Honestly, the food here is SERIOUSLY good. As seriously good as it is, the cocktails and for that matter, the mocktails are competing for top prize, but without a doubt, they are all pipped at the post (which is no mean feat) by the wonderful staff and the owners. The little touches mean so much on a special night out and they really think of everything. Very attentative and friendly - can't fault them on anything 10/10. Finally, the building itself is a bit special - Lovely atmosphere, alfresco ceiling, cosy furnitue - in a work - Querky!! Thank you Harry and Natasha and Fanny. Compliments to the chef as well and there were also a few other waiters who i'm sure are great too - Fab! and look forward to coming back soon :-) Rob, Marianne and family x

Hidden Gem. My husband and I visited San Fairie Ann to see if the roast dinner was any good. I can honestly say we were blown away by the quality and quantity of food, the amazing service and quaint decor. I opted for the arancini starter, roast pork belly main and banana split dessert, it was all 10/10. The portions extremely generous and it was great to see that there were no skimping on the cauliflower cheese or gravy! We left with belly’s full extremely satisfied. We will 100% return! Hopefully this Sunday…..

We went for Sunday roast dinner today. The food was a great standard and plenty of it , nice relaxed vibe and more importantly the service was absolutely top notch. Well done it’s great to support local business

A fantastic place for a Sunday roast. Had the three course menu and it was all delicious. I had the three cheese/truffle arancini, the roast pork and the saffron milk cake. The starter and dessert were simply delicious. The main roast was excellent too. Great service with friendly staff that gave the perfect attention and chat. The band playing was an excellent addition too. The atmosphere and ambience was great.

Had a last minute Sunday lunch in here and it was absolutely brilliant. Food was great, service was great and prices were on point. Our little girl was a servers nightmare throughout but they handled it with professionalism and joy. Lovely place can't recommend highly enough the jazz band were brilliant too. Well recommended will be coming back for more. Thanks for the wedding drinks also

I went here for a birthday party. The first thing I noticed was a range of stuffed wild animals heads on the wall. I don't find this attractive and if I had been organising the birthday party I would not have booked. There was a strong scented smell which wasn't unpleasant but a bit overpowering. The rest of the decor was nice and interesting. The service was good and the food was ok. There could have been one more interesting vegetarian option. There was an option to buy lunch or brunch which included drinks. Not unreasonable prices.

I recently hosted a surprise 40th birthday party for my partner at San Fairie Ann in Southend on Sea, and it was an outstanding experience. The event included family and friends, with welcome drinks and an impressive Italian-style buffet featuring charcuterie, burger sliders, fries, arancini (including vegetarian and vegan options). The booking process was seamless. I communicated via email and had a video call with the owner, Harry. He was incredibly helpful, balancing our needs while offering useful suggestions and assurances regarding the food, music, and projector equipment. On the day of the event, the staff were exceptional. Despite the warm weather, they ensured we stayed cool with a fan, managed the bar efficiently, kept the buffet table tidy, handled the cake cutting in the kitchen, and promptly cleared away. The venue's amenities were as advertised and perfect for our party. The space was clean, well-decorated, and we added our own balloons and lit number display. There was parking directly opposite the venue, although the sunny day caused some traffic congestion, which wasn't the venue's fault. Our overall experience was fantastic. I would have preferred the ground floor venue for its brightness and cooler temperature, but it wasn't available that day/weekend. A minor incident occurred when a guest dropped a phone charger cable into the only fan, but Harry handled it without any fuss. I found the venue to offer good value for money, considering the hire cost, food, and drinks. I highly recommend San Fairie Ann for its unique style, character, and quality, distinguishing it from similar venues nearby. I would definitely recommend this venue for its excellent service, distinctive ambiance, and the wonderful experience it provided us.

A gem in Essex. Visited San Fairie Ann for a birthday brunch and absolutely loved it! Everything from the food to the drinks, atmosphere, service, decor. I would highly recommend and I will definitely be coming back! 10 stars

Absolutely amazing Sunday Roast, we try a different restaurant every Sunday from Plough and Sail to The Royal Hotel all scummy but this was by far the best. Beautiful piece of lamb, gorgeous Roast potatoes and perfect Yorkshire puds. All whilst listening to a live piano player. Wonderful hosts who couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Can't wait to try their themed nights. Massive THANK YOU.

We walked in on the off-chance and were lucky enough to get a table for 2 for a Sunday roast today. The venue is beautiful. The staff were kind and so accommodating for my veggie needs. Nothing was too much trouble. The chef made something delicious to suit my needs. The veggie roast was perfect! I came away full and happy, and can’t wait to return. Thank you for a really lovely afternoon.

Sunday lunch, party of 5 and a toddler. What a great find this quirky restaurant was. I almost don’t want to leave a glowing review, in case others find out quite how great it is and I then can’t get a reservation in the future!! Truly the best Sunday lunch we’ve ALL ever had from a restaurant, some may even say better than the roast cooked by my own fair hand at home!! The staff were attentive, polite, friendly and smartly dressed. The food and drink was all very reasonably priced. Suggestions to make it even better: Comfier seating (although far from uncomfortable) Place mats (or even a table cloth for Sunday lunch, although the decor has a vibe which wouldn’t necessarily promote this) Candles or table lights A children’s menu (our 2yo was very well catered for nonetheless). No one ever gets a 10/10, but this is a 9.99999/10 for sure.

Myself and my fiance had the most amazing night celebrating our engagement with 20 of our nearest and dearest back in November. We went for their Christmas set menu and we simply had the best time. Wonderfully accomodating to all us (including some with some niche allergies) and we left at the end with truly wonderful memories. A massive thank you to the entire team and we hope you all have a very Happy New Year 🥳

Absolutely wonderful. We were let down by a new restaurant that we had booked for 40th birthday outing. Last minute we contacted San Fairie Ann to see if they could accommodate us. They were fantastic, from the freshly made afternoon tea to the attentive and friendly service. The food was delicious and the staff and atmosphere exactly want you want for a special occasion. The roasts they were serving also looked fantastic so we will definitely return!

Went there back in 2020, and I still can not forget the taste of the food I had here! The breakfast meal was amazing, from the food to the drink it was actually perfect. I really hope you guys don't change the chef❤️

Fantastic evening, food was absolutely gorgeous. We were stuck for where to go and hadn't booked up. And we were accommodated without any fuss. Lovely decor blends in with atmosphere. I think now this is one of the best places to eat in Southend.

Have been here many times for afternoon tea, and recently for one of their paint and Prosecco nights. It's always such a wonder experience - food, drink and atmosphere is always 👌 perfect. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here with my wife. All of the food was delicious, especially the freshly baked scones. My only criticism would be that; it would have been nice to have had another savory item in addition to the sandwiches. Maybe a tart, quiche or sausage roll etc. The staff were great, very friendly and attentive.

Big thank you to San Fairie Ann’s and their amazing staff. Had the downstairs’ function room for my mums surprise 50th on Saturday they where so attentive friendly and made me, friends and family feel so welcome. Let us set up decorations and balloons earlier on in the day very helpful! Let us have full control of lighting and sound for music. Also at end of the night refused to let me tidy up bless them. Honestly couldn’t thank them enough. Definitely use again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

An absolute must to visit, amazing place with amazing staff.

We went to San Fairie Ann yesterday, for my sisters 70th Birthday afternoon tea. There was about 14 of us. What a fabulous selection of sandwiches, cakes & also scone, jam & cream. Plentiful tea and coffee, always being topped up. Everything was fresh and tasty. The service was excellent and they couldn't do enough for us. Also boxes were supplied to us, if we needed to take leftovers home. A great place. Would definitely recommend.

A wonderful find in Southend. The proprietors Harry and Natasha were truly welcoming, friendly and knowledgable. The food was wonderful, fresh and good value and the venue is lovely. They do food and have a full bar ( including a visiting cocktail maker). Having go e to Southend for a comedy show we were so glad to find this - I only wish it was.closer to my home so I could go more.often -.recommended!

Wonderful food and varied drinks list. Great decor and ambience. But pricey but worth every penny.

We went for afternoon rea on mothers day. It is a lovely venue with a brilliant singer and attentive staff. It was a shame that the cakes were basic shop bought ones- battenberg. Swiss roll. Plain madeira and a red velvet sponge and i belueve the scones were shop bought too. At £25 per head I would have expected a better quality of cakes.

I had the risotto and it was delicious, followed with a lovely Malbec. It was a wonderful atmosphere, dim lights and little heaters potted around. The waiter Paul was attentive and polite.

First time visit to this charming restaurant in Southend and definitely won’t be the last. Amazing food and fab atmosphere despite it being January and not too busy. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning!

What a great night we had to celebrate one of my daughter's birthday. The service was absolutely smashing, the food was unbelievable.

Amazing place, ate here many times, frequented tonight for a drink only, to be met by a rude staff member who seemed intoxicated, ordered a pint of peroni and a wine which he proceeded to open a bottle when we corrected him he said don't worry I will drink that later, which he did with 4 tablets of some sort at the same time, sat at the table nearest the sink, he accidentally spilt ice/drink over my back, informed another staff member which seemed to anger the tattooed red haired man to come back and try again. Otherwise lovely venue.

Not sure if chef has changed, starter pate came with the smallest two pieces of french stick instead of brioche, prawn cocktail is a smaller serving, roast was OK. Very noisy behind the bar, not an enjoyable visit this time.

Amazing restaurant! Me, my fiance and friends went to celebrate our engagement in September and it was a rather large group! But that didn't slow down the service at all and the staff were so accommodating in making sure we had the best experience possible. The cocktails were incredible and food was sensational! We cannot thank the staff enough for such an amazing night

Nice food and atmosphere, but very disappointing that they had nothing to offer a vegan in 2022.... Been coming to this place for the last 15 years and it is very nice, but probably best suited for people without special dietary requirements.

Popped in for lunch on a hot day. A quirky French inspired restaurant.. I had a burger whuch was delightful.. And the service was attentive too.

so been looking forward to a friends birthday dinner, table booked for 7pm on a fri. i googled menu on line prior as was so excited , been to glass house and then re brand san fairy anns years ago. menu states al a cart & tapas. been seated and tapas was not an option? was given a piece of cheap printed a4 with a basic over priced list of food. i had pork with glass noodles to start. omg pure fat so i left it, was drenched in bottled sweet chilli sauce. drinks were listed on line at 11.50 then were actually 12.50. flies every where. bar manager was very friebdly but he was plotted up out front, feet on chair using 1 of the 2 outside tables . then whilse we were having a smoke water or what ever it was, was thrown over us by a resident living up stairs. we were not being noisy!! i did not find amusing! however the waitress and bar staff were brill extended the 241 on cocktails till 7.15 apparently its 6 but (says till 8 on web ). please up date your web site as we expected tapas and alot more. the 2 tables out front should be for customers not bar manager n his feet . shame wont be returning

This is a great little restaurant off the beaten track in Southend, it has a great vibe to it with all the tables and chairs looking like they all came from charity shops, nothing seems to match up but I liked it and the food was really good as well, very pleasant and helpful staff made eating here a pleasurable experience, would definitely recommend

Really disappointed today for Fathers Day today. Service was poor due to not being looked after even though it was not busy, we had to ask to be served and ask for menus after seated for 10-15 minutes. The waitresses weren't cheerful and seemed they didn't want to be there and made that clear. We waited for food for longer than expected. When main courses arrived (roast dinners) it all tasted very bland the potatoes were hard and overall tasted very flavourless. The cauliflower cheese was given to us at the end of my meal and the waitress said "Better late than never!" And walked away without an apology! Due to poor taste of food and bad service we choose to leave before ordering pudding. Overall experience was really bad. I asked if the chef had changed aswell whilst partner was paying and one of the waitresses said yes and asked why and I explained food tasted different and it was alot better beforehand. Also the price went up and paid over £100 for 3 starters and mains which was alot more than we paid before previous. And the 'expected' tip was refused and he had to ask for our change back! Its a shame as on our 1st experience and on mother's day the the food was amazing had so much flavour and we were really cared for. Maybe explains why it wasn't busy as usually it's hard to get a booking. Unfortunately due to today we will not be returning and will no longer refer friends and family to come again.

The family enjoyed the Sunday roast but I was disappointed with the fish. It was supposed to be pan fried but there was no crispy skin, looked like it was steamed. The rice and the sauce did not go with the fish. Chef need to review this combination. Otherwise this is a quirky place and staff were very friendly. Music was abit loud so it was difficult to have conversation.

Champagne afternoon tea on a Saturday with three hen parties wasnt great fun sadly. The food was lovely. However, we were squeezed in a tight noisy spot. The acoustics were terrible. We were given prosecco rather than champagne. It was all a bit of a let down, which was a sad way to celebrate a 50th birthday.

My brother and I visited San Fairie Ann 1st May. We were offered the Sunday 3 course meal for £30. My brother had chicken and I had roast beef. For starters we had home made broccoli and Stilton soup. Dessert was sticky toffee pud. All the food was home made. To say the food AND SERVICE was stunning is an understatement. It was fantastic. I would highly recommend the restaurant/bar. It is Quirky, warm and inviting.

The place itself is beautiful and really well done up, it seems like it would be a great place for drinks / cocktails. We expected more from the food, it seems like they’ve tried to reinvent classics but didn’t quite work (serving 3 large “gnocchi” that texture wise was creamy mash in the shape of massive of gnocchi, paired with a rich red wine gravy) and burgers with buns that were a bit stale. The service was great and a really relaxed vibe. Will definitely come back for drinks and live music!

Great quirky place, and whilst the waiters were very friendly, they are spread too thinly and need more staff. We had lunch and we'd specifically booked a certain table (round and down the back where it's brighter) so were disappointed when we arrived that it was already allocated. There was a scramble to make us one up elsewhere. Service was slow and a bit haphazard. The menu has limited choices (about 10) and although tables set with cutlery for many courses, there was only one. We were so hungry we asked for perhaps some bread to nibble at whilst we were waiting, but they said it wasn't possible.

It's hard for me as I live next door. Normally go for a drink with friends once they finish work. Food is good, service good and friendly. Live entertainment weekends. A large bookable private function room down stairs. Opens till late. Why go anywhere else.

The set menu for £20 for a 'party' was very reasonable but unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired. It sounded very 'la di da' and quite interesting on the menu but unfortunately the food did not live up to expectations. The venue, however, was lovely.

We live fairly local and are always looking for a different restaurant for Sunday Lunch, we have eaten in some lovely, and had some lovely food, This was by far the best Sunday Roast we have had, absolutely faultless, with the added bonus of a great live singer. Saturday night for us was disappointing. Couldn't talk to each other as musician was to loud. The restaurant was cold and service was very poor.

Disappointing. Unfortunately the service was incredibly slow. We ordered our drinks at 6.55pm and they came out at 7.25pm, leaving our 8year daughters milkshake last. 30 minute wait is unacceptable for drinks. Yes even cocktails. The food came out quite slow, and we waited far too long for our main after the starter. The waitress was really lovely but was not attentive enough and forgot drinks. She did put a beer on the house for forgetting it, but we weren't looking for a free a beer...we just wanted the beer within 30mins of ordering it. -1Star The food tasted good. However the menu listed "Beef Wellington" . Beef Wellington is a steak dish made out of fillet steak coated with pâté. The dish that came out was pulled braised brisket wrapped in pastry. Not a pink fillet steak wrapped in a mushroom patê. You cannot reinvent the wheel. If it was a Brisket Wellington, the menu should have stated so. By this point it was 9pm and we'd been sat for 2hours with an 8year old so wasn't much point in arguing. The menu needs to be updated..or perhaps the chef could learn to cook a real Beef Wellington. -1 Star.

A very different style of restaurant, great decor! We had Sunday lunch. The food was huge and delicious, the gravy was particularly noted. It was nice to have live music but being seated close to the speaker made conversation a bit tricky. A really nice lunchtime treat.
