This was our first time at Sam’s waterside - we visited with Friends. The food is fabulous - on a par with the sister restaurant in Hammersmith. Lots of interesting menu choices for foodies - I had the venison and short rib croquettes, pork with peppercorn and caper sauce followed by a lovely steamed pudding. The service was also very good - not fussy - just right. Price wise - our bill for 4 adults was £320 inc wine and pre meal drinks which we felt was reasonable given the lovely sagging, great service and knock-out food.

We went to Sam's Waterside to celebrate a family occasion and we had a very positive experience. It was steak night and the steak was excellent. We also tried the pork chop, the burger and the aubergine lasagne, all of which were delicious. The parmesan churros were a treat. The restaurant itself has a lovely ambience and our server Tristan was friendly and efficient. And the cloakroom was immaculately clean. I highly recommend a trip to this restaurant!

A very beautiful restaurant, completely full and excellent and imaginative food. But two gripes: the post code is wrong on the website and we should have been told about the parking arrangement at Morrisons supermarket. The waiters were a bit too keen to clear the plates. My friend was still eating a padron pepper and the waiter stood over her as she took her second mouthful!

Excellent restaurant; this was my third visit. This is comfortably a 4* establishment, a keen and talented kitchen team, obviously well-sourced ingredients and a beautifully designed space. The menu is well-priced, varied, plenty of seafood and generally well cooked and presented. On the latest visit, I tried the Black Pudding Scotch Egg, which was excellent although slightly overpowered by the tomato ketchup which would have been better on the side. I really enjoyed the Mullet dish with a caper butter; delicious and beautifully cooked. The bed of greens was rather watery and therefore diluted the caper sauce which was a shame. On the space specifically, I would agree with a previous reviewer who noted that dirty glasses get stacked up on one side of the bar and are never cleared. Unfortunately, this side of the bar is very close to a series of tables in the middle of the restaurant which have to look at this dirty collection of glassware all evening. I don't expect to have to ask to move tables for this, I would expect you to clear up your glassware. Nevertheless, this is an impressive offering from the collection of Sam's restaurants in West London. It's an easy 4 stars but with enough to hold back from a 5. Which hopefully motivates the team to keep those standards high and address the (very simple) corrections which would make this place truly superb.

The staff were all welcoming, friendly and very efficient. Great choices on the menu and every course we had was excellent. Highlight was a tuna starter - delicious! Will definitely return.

We lunch here almost every week and like the Tuesday free corkage for BYO wine. We usually bring champagne types recommended by Mand S or Waitrose. This week I decided to splash out on the lobster linguine which wasn’t really as it was tagliatelle with lobster pieces in a brown broth. Although it was quite tasty it looked terrible being the wrong colour with no garnish of parsley or black pepper/ lemon and a very small portion for £36. I was still hungry which was surprising for pasta. Apart from that the menu was up to expectations and reasonably priced. However each time we go for an expensive dish rather than the set price menu it tends to fall short on presentation and or flavour.

First time at Sam’s Brentford, being to Hammersmith a few times before. Lively atmosphere on a Saturday night, elegant surroundings. Food was really average: duck breast was succulent and tender, however it lacked seasoning. The “spicy sauce” didn’t have any spice, the plum Mirabelle was a tasteless pale Thermomix puree. No side orders suited the duck dish so I ended up ordering fries which were forgotten (at least we weren’t charged for them). Babaganoush was again a Thermomix paste without any aubergine flavour. The burger was OK. Our waitress was around but didn’t engage or connect with us, maybe she was looking after too many tables. No visible management presence. Overall, nice location but food not as good as Riverside so I’ll stick to Hammersmith when I want to dine at Sam’s again.

We visited here for the second time, it didn’t disappoint, food was fabulous, we had the prawn retro cocktail and the duck - amazing, so fabulous to be able to walk home. On a par with uptown dining

This was a gem. My friend introduced me to this place and hidden behind Gails and a supermarket. It looks absolutely beautiful inside and the staff were very accommodating. We hadn't booked yet the restaurant manager was accommodating. The place was absolutely heaving with a constant stream of people arriving which speaks to the popularity of the place. Because we hadn't booked we were limited to around 90 minutes which was a shame because would have loved to have stayed. the food was great and the Wine was great too. The waitress ) I forget her name , she was from Leeds, was ever so charming and beyond helpful. Will defiantly go again in the summer.

We used to go to Sam’s Brasserie in Chiswick, years ago, before we had kids. What a treat to have this lovely sister restaurant on our doorstep now the kids are grown up enough to leave at home! (We might bring them one day…) Everything I remember from the Brasserie is here. Friendly, attentive, relaxed but efficient service. Delicious locally sourced food with great flavour. Simple favourites like fish and chips, alongside exciting new flavours and dishes - the duck salad a particular revelation. It was a pleasure to spend an early evening here with my parents. It will definitely become a regular visit - it’s great to have a more special occasion restaurant in Brentford, but I’m sure we’ll also take advantage of the early bird deals when we can.

Having been to Sams Riverside in Hammersmith last summer we decided to try their new offering in Brentford and we were not to be disappointed. We booked a table for ten for Sunday lunch and were met by the same manager from the Hammersmith branch who instantly recognised us from last summer, now that's pretty impressive!! We had a great table and the service was excellent, attentive but not overly so, the perfect balance. We had a selection of sharing plates to start, the crab was delicious, then various starters the stand out dish was the crispy duck salad, then roast beef and others had the short rib and chicken which were all cooked to perfection. Nice selection of desserts, wines and expertly made cocktails, a fantastic long Sunday lunch, we will be back, keep it up Sam.

It's great to find another good restaurant in Brentford. The location is lovely with great potential for Al fresco etc The service was first class. Friendly and efficient. Having the "service counter" by my ear was a mixed blessing. I had a white anchovy starter. It must be difficult to know what to do with half a dozen anchovies but they were OK. The Sea Breem was excellent. Beautifully cooked in a lovely sauce - between blanc maybe. Crisp skin, well cooked veg. A light delight. I had a cheese course with a version of Brie dizzled with honey! Bizarre. The cheese was mature and tasty. The bread things were a very good accompaniment. The cooked cheesecake was unexceptional but the two coulis were good The house red was OK as was the muscadet and overall it was a very good lunch - if a bit expensive. I look forward to returning - if they'll let me in.

Beautifully kitted out with a slick central bar, lovely surroundings. Cocktail list was varied but tad pricey. Wine list excellent, liked the layout and pricing was good. The food sadly does not match the restaurant concept and work will need to be done to encourage customers to set foot through the doors. The anchovies at £7 were a ridiculous price, the foccaccia solid and bland. The duck on salad was overcooked but this dish was very tasty. The slow cooked beef lacked flavour considering the quality of the meat and if you can bare to part with £18 for a burger this is the place for you, it arrives on a plate on a piece of paper, no garnish or salad. Brentford has few restaurants and is crying out for Sam's to work but the quality is not matching the price charged. When we asked for steak tartare without the horseradish we were told it comes pre-mixed, surely not!? As a local I want this to work but the menu will have to change considerably before I'll go back. I wish you well, it really is a beautiful space.

I went with my wife to Sam's on a Friday evening with high expectations, and they were actually exceeded. We had 3 courses, a bottle of wine and cocktails. The food was outstanding and the service was exceptional. The cocktails we had at the bar first; all were well balanced to a luxury 5* hotel level, even though I asked for classics that were not on the menu. Regarding the food, each starter, main and dessert was not undersized, flavourful and had great texture appropriate to the dish. Brentford needed a high end restaurant and I can only imagine how great it will be in summer with the outdoor seating and completed riverside views.

I’ve been here a few times now so I feel I’ve got the measure of the place. Service is warm and friendly but professional and attentive, but not overly so. The menu is decent and changes a bit. I’m a vegetarian so that limits me somewhat but the delica pumpkin main course is delicious as are the artichoke and beetroot starters. I’d like to see home vegetarian options obviously but the menu is quite curated to keep standards high. I’ve had a few desserts and I find them the weakest part of the menu - all that I’ve had have been good but probably not as interesting as the other courses. The atmosphere is great, can get quite loud when it’s very busy. I like visiting during lunch as I like the views which disappear during the dark evenings and I’ve still not had the set menu which I would really like to try. It’s a brilliant addition to Brentford.

We were taken so cant give a full price/quality ratio. But look: this was really very good, I had steak tartare starter, lovely and tasty, followed by Cornish fish stew. Lots of fish, great flavour. Wife had excellent artichoke starter. Other dishes looked first rate. Wines lock in at around 25 pounds a bottle, going up from there. Affordable. Service excellent. Gripes: very very noisy on a Saturday night with our table slap bang in middle of restaurant. Don't think there was a flipping table around us where somebody wasn't have a birthday, with cake, singsong, clapping. People clearly must've had a lot of sex in Britain on March 15. Marginally prefer Sam's Riverside but look: well done Sam. Очень вкусно и солидно. Возвращаемся!

Excellent 2 and 3 course lunch but with only 2 choices it’s a bit limited. The chicken liver bruschetta is a starter but a meal in itself. I’ve been 3 times now for lunch and it’s worth ordering from the main menu for variety. The wines are expensive but available by the glass and carafe. I love the art deco ambiance and canal basin views so it feels very much fine dining which it is. It’s a great alternative to the market square Italian restaurants which also offer great food options so no need to travel away from Brentford for us locals can just walk here. Car parking is underneath Morrisons so an opportunity to shop and eat in style. Bill allow a minimum of £100 for lunch for 2.
