Sams Deli in West Somerset

We called in for some take away food. Had the homity pie (cold but delicious) and sausage roll (hot but delicious I was told) plus a really nice mixed salad (you can choose from a mix and match selection). Enjoyed them on the harbour wall on a lovely sunny day.

Had cornish pasty and a sausage roll with a tub of olives and mixed salad. Lovely fresh food and very tasty. Would highly recommend

Came for the delicious looking “salads” and they did not disappoint! Lush fresh flavours and and tasty combinations. BUT the mushroom pie was OUT OF THIS WORLD! We also had sausage and egg muffins, hot and tasty with a good hit of pepper in the sausage patty, very welcome on a cold April morning. All in all a little gem of a deli, I wish we lived closer but will definitely be back!

Absolutely gutted that we didn’t buy at least two more Scotch eggs! Golden yolky goodness wrapped in scrumptious sausage and the coating was sooooo crisp and perfect that I will have to agree with other reviewers to say it was the hands down best I’ve ever had!

The food we purchased from the deli was not only good value, but incredibly delicious and well made. The scotch egg, crisps and sausage roll that we bought were among the best we’ve ever tried. The person serving was friendly and welcoming too! Would definitely recommend!

The BEST god damn scotch egg I have ever eaten. No lies are told here. Sausage roll next level flavour on your taste buds. Service from Terri was fantastic. I need the recipe for the scotch egg because I’m just visiting and there’s no way I’m waiting till next year to have one.

Very close to the harbour, bought pasties and coffee to drink and eat by the harbour. Pasties were so good ordered four for the following day to take home. Lovely deli with a great range of food

Terrific, wholesome food at a reasonable price. Very small venue so maybe need to book or takeout. We’re very picky, preferring to prepare our own meals, so glad we found this little gem. We chose a variety of cold dishes from the chilled counter and were very impressed with their quality, (with veggie options). Punching well above their weight in quality and ingredients. We had alighted at Watchet for just a couple of hours whilst using the West Somerset Railway as a day’s exploration of the area. So would recommend timing this as a stopping off place for lunch. (Suggestion: catchingw the 9am return train from Minehead to Bishops Lydeyard. Stay on the train and alight at Watchet for lunch, on the return trip to Minehead ).

Called in here to pick up some lunch. Friendly staff. I ordered a tuna crunch sandwich which was humongous and totally delicious. Fresh granary bread stuffed with tuna mayo, sweetcorn, cucumber, tomato and lettuce. Definitely a deli to recommend, with a wide selection of other goodies to enjoy.

Friends who have been to Sam’s Deli on a number of occasions kept telling me how amazing it was and this week I finally got to go for myself. Wow were they right. My beef and Stilton sandwich was hands down the best I have ever tasted. What an absolutely divine place: - superb food with a really wide choice and such friendly and engaging service. Whether you eat in, sit by the harbour or take to enjoy in Pebbles, this is a must eat. I am already trying to engineer a return visit.

Lots of lovely things in here! Homemade stuff such as pasties, pork pies, other pies and treats. At Christmas time, we had Christmas dinner pasties and sat at the marina to eat them!

We had a very warm greeting at Sam's Deli, the food was absolutely gorgeous; tasty and hot. We really couldn't ask for more. If we are in Watchet again we would definitely pop in

What a lovely place this is. The food was all fantastic - not really sure how they mange to make the vegan pie so utterly delicious and my daughter loved the chocolate milkshakes! But in addition to the fab food was how nice each member of the team were. Super friendly and welcoming. A gem of a place. Thank you!

Went in for pasties for the journey home, but also bought a freshly cooked, warm, Scotch Egg. I’ll never be able to eat a supermarket scotch egg again. It was one of the tastiest things I’ve ever eaten!!!

Had lovely traditional pasties from Sam’s Deli, very friendly staff and it was nice there was the option to have the pasty warm which we did. The pasties were reasonably priced and we had many envious looks from passers by whilst eating at the harbour! The meat inside was lovely and tasty, would definitely recommend!

After browsing for fossils at the coast line, we were looking for a simple lunch venue. Sam’s Deli provided us with a yummie lunch of sandwiches, lemonades and smoothies. Either eat in or take away.

We had a cottage for a week in Watchet and called in at Sam's deli a couple of times. Pies and pasties were delicious and a treat to take back to the cottage but the highlight was the scotch eggs, they were just amazing. Thank goodness the weather was OK and we could do plenty of walking to burn them off

Can't recommend this lovely funky and friendly place enough. We called in to buy a sandwiches and a panini for a takeaway lunch. Completely spoiled for choice of fillings! The lady who served us was just the loveliest person. We had our dogs waiting outside so rather than us have to wait in the street she suggested we went and sat on a bench overlooking the harbour and then she delivered the picnic lunch to us there. The food was really fresh and tasty. A really wonderful experience. Watchet is a beautiful and friendly place and this cafe was the icing on the cake.

Sam's Deli is a great little place to stop for a coffee, Sam's homemade pies are delicious as are the homemade scotch eggs and homemade pork pies, well worth a visit.

Not many places for take away open on New Years Day. This one was pretty busy and looked OK. Nice friendly welcome and good choice of snacks. Had a hot pasty and sausage roll. Both tasty. Will use again when in the area.

This is a really nice shop with a very warm welcome. We all had pies which although they were nice, they were a little expensive. However, 10 out of 10 for service and decor!

Sam’s came up trumps with a great value pie and mash deal when we were looking for some late lunch around 3pm.

Stopped in here when wandering around Watchet. The lady who served us (very rude of us not to get her name but she is Sam's mum!) was so friendly, helpful and welcoming on our arrival! We had our 7 month old son with us who made a bit of a mess with his portion of pasty but she wasn't worried. Very happy to chat with us which was lovely :)

We bought pies here, one chicken and one steak. Both were truly delicious, filled properly and nothing scary inside! Yummy.

We ordered up a couple of Sams famous pasties when sitting in Pebbles tavern, just around the corner. They were delivered fresh, hot and full of flavour a short few minutes later. Later we went to Swain Street where the delicattesen is located, and from its hygiene score and Tripadvisor award its a choice place to take coffee and buns whenever you visit the lovely harbour town of Watchet.

Spent the weekend in Watchet and I had a delicious crab sandwich and my husband had a rare roast beef and Stilton sandwich...they were so delicious we decided to have a Ploughman's platter for lunch the next day,which the Deli very kindly

We have visited a few times. The most recent visit we had made to order sandwiches and homemade pies. Delicious food and really friendly staff. The option to eat in or take away and a lovely selection of foods ideal for a picnic!

Went in trying to find my wife which was the cause of considerable hilarity. Fortunately I was able to return with her and our friends to prove I wasn't completely mad. We ate in at the table in the middle of the shop which was abit odd but different. We shared crab sandwiches and I had a bacon and egg bap. We made conversation with the staff while our food was being prepared out back.

Bought 3 sandwiches for family here on a visit to Watchet. They were freshly made for us and well worth the wait ... plenty of filling with lovely fresh salad. Service very friendly. Pies also looked delicious and very tempting. Definitely recommend this place for a lunchtime snack.

Lovely eat-in bacon egg & ciabatta rolls with Mr H & youngest - quick efficient and friendly service. Rolls were tasty and piping hot and the best mug of hot chocolate in town!

Great place for a rest stop we stopped here after walking in the snow and enjoyed fresh coffee and home made pork pies that were still warm. Sam also sells lots of herbs and spices as well as gluten free products. Really worth a visit to try the pies

Sams Deli is a great place to have a coffee or a bite to eat. All the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. The also take cards for any amount without fuss which can be useful.

We had delicious sandwiches freshly made and the bread pudding was wonderful. We returned the next morning and enjoyed a bacon roll and tea.

There's a limited choice of items to enjoy here, but everything is exquisitely crafted and refreshingly different from large-scale mass produced fare.

Very small, and with odd opening hours, Sam's Deli is a lovely little find in Watchet. I had Scotch Egg which was delicious and cheap. The de-caf coffee was very tasty. Limited seating, but on a nice day you could get a takeaway and go outside to the harbour.

Called into Watchet on a whim, parked up and took a turn around the Harbour, whereupon the heavens opened, we hurried up the Main Street and fell into Sams Deli by default.

Always a sucker for a home cooked scotch egg, and these are the best, without doubt. Although to be fair the steak and ale pie is pretty much up there too. Absolute gem

(Actually, I had a bacon and egg bap, but I couldn't resist the alliteration!) Popped in seeking an antidote to the copious amounts of cider consumed the previous evening and was pleasantly surprised by both my bap and the size of the mug of tea. The bacon was generously sized - two large back rashers - and of superior quality, the bap soft and very fresh, and the egg was suitably eggy, (what can you say about an egg?). The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the pricing competitive. Small critical point - I asked for tabasco sauce and it was put onto the roll in the kitchen rather than letting me apply the amount I required myself. The result was a roll that might have been a little too fiery for some, although it was fine for me and did a good job of allaying the delicate state of mind of which I was possessed! Hence the 3 star rating rather than the 4 stars the quality of the food and the pleasant ambience deserve.

Just needed something to keep us going. Chose the roast beef sandwiches which were perfect. Slightly rare beef with horseradish on lovely fresh bread. Plenty of other options

My wife and I popped into Sam's Deli for a pastie whilst visiting Watchet. The Deli was very busy and the produce on show looked very good. We ordered two pasties which they headed up for us. The pasties were good with plenty of flavour but both of them had meat at one end, for about a quarter of the way down, and the rest was potato I would have preferred the ingredients mixed.

WOW! What amazing food. We picked up several pies for us to re-heat at home and share for dinner and they were all fabulous. The best homity pie I've ever had, gorgeous steak in ale pie, pork pie fabulous...wish we lived nearer as I'd shop here daily!!! Great service, lovely helpful young lady behind the counter who helped up pick our selection. Everyone must go!

Always a great welcome, the food is, without exception fantastic x Authentic Pies, delicious sandwiches and a grand selection of cheeses. All served with a generous helping of smile faces and genuine good humour. A great asset to our town.

Nice little deli with a small amount of seating. We ate in and had a panini each and the kids had a ham sandwich and a bacon roll. It was all really fresh and tasty. Nice strong cheddar that you could taste rather than the normal mild stuff! Really loved the marmite and cheese panini! Loads of bacon on the bacon roll too. We didn't try them, but the pies on display looked amazing! If I was being picky it would have been nice if the cappuccino was a little stronger, but that's just me liking strong coffee, so next time I'd just ask for an extra shot. Would definitely recommend and go again.

Visited for the first time this week but ended up coming back twice more. Great home made pies & yummy freshly made sandwiches. The staff are very friendly & helpful. Stopped for coffee on my last visit which I had with a tasty apple tart. You can get everything you need for a picnic (including wooden cutlery); the scotch eggs are second to none. Will certainly be back

We use Sam's Deli several times a week and I have never yet been disappointed. Sandwiches are without doubt the best in the area and the platters, excellent!

Come in regularly with my father to pick up a treat for lunch and the service is always great and the pastys and pies are lush!

Takeaway sandwiches are freshly made to order. Great variety of fillings. Hugely satisfying whilst hiking on coastal path. Steak and ale pies are delicious - had these for supper. Great coffee. Friendly staff who gave us lots of attention - difficult to chose - even though they were busy. Very clean premises. Visited several times during our stay in Watchet. Highly recommend.

We were welcomed by a knowledgeable young man into a clean,family run deli. Sam is welcoming. You can est in or take away delights from sausages meats pies artisan crisps and coffee beans. Drop in. Take your paper and enjoy the delights in a tranquil part of the old Town

Went in when we snook out of work yesterday and had the Chicken and Mushroom Pie with mash and mushy peas. Enjoyed it so much that I went back today for the Venison Pie.........

We stopped to get a snack for our drive home. Sam made us some really lovely gammon sandwiches with salad and chutney. They were made on the spot and so fresh. We bought steak and ale pies for dinner and I can't wait to eat them.

Been here twice, and had excellent freshly made sandwiches on each occasion. Coffee is hot and the pies look as though they are freshly made and there is an interesting selection of deli products including flavoured olive oil, (even fill your own bottles) and other items to purchase from the deli. Obviously already has a good reputation for the pies as on each occasion we have been there customers have come in and bought numerous pies to take out, and regulars from local shops have also called in for their take out lunch sandwiches. Deli is relatively small and seating inside, although adequate, is not spacious, but service and enthusiasm of Sam and his staff mean that orders are dealt with quickly and efficiently.
