Had food from here and for two days later was seriously ill. Response from the staff was no body else has complained so there was nothing wrong with the food!!!

Banging 10/10 Chinese really enjoyed it House special fried rice, chicken curry , chips, noodles, curry sauce and pompodoms it was the bollocks 😋😋😋

Rice very greasy. Person that took order over the phone was not listening sending our order completely wrong.

This is the second time I've had egg fried rice from here with hair in it 🤢🤢🤢🤢

Been eating here for over 10 years. Love the egg fried rice, singapore fried rice, and chow mein. Staff are great :))

Don’t know what has happened to this place , I have been ordering from her for 30 years plus and there fried rice is more like boiled rice no colour to it at all and there chicken Chinese style with beansprouts is awful the beansprouts were raw and the chicken used to be a nice chicken breast with gravy but it now comes with batter on it all mushy and it clearly looks like a Birds Eye crispy chicken from a box, rang them to complain as it cost over £30 and they refuse to refund and said then will add some credit for next time and I clearly said that I will not order ever again, they seriously need to get their act together , awful would not recommend at all

Order from here a lot as local. Staff are nice, food almost always delicious, fresh, hot and good portions but bit disappointed with meal tonight. Had a really tasty hot and sour soup but poppadom was stale and my vegetable pancake roll was only filled with bean sprouts. Not sure if this is usual but you would expect a vegetable roll to have more than one vegetable.

We ordered food to chill out.. Pancake rolls were basically bean sprouts in pancake. Sweet and sour ok. Beef was really tough. Very disappointed cos they used to be spot on.

Made a very large order for collection this evening. Food was cooked and waiting, got home and it smelt fantastic and was still piping hot. Served it up; chips were hard, onions were burnt, beef had a funny taste, and was very raw looking on the inside when cut. The whole family now have bad stomachs after this meal. Won’t be going back.

Useless travelled there especially due to ratings. Got order completely wrong. This was found out when got the food home. Even had the cheek to insist on travelling all the way back there to supposedly put the order right. Told them not to bother as will NEVER go near there ever again. If you go there for food make absolutely sure they give you the right food before you leave.

Worst Chinese we have ever had. Chow mein was so watery and the crispy beef was greasy. Definitely will not be returning.

Have eaten from here for 14+ years always the same order . Loved it. Last 2 times ordering ( hoping that on the 1st they were having an off day) special fried rice was so dry and tasteless the chips were powdery and stale tasting. Egg fried rice you had to smother in curry ..not ideal. So dont waste your money maybe a different cook or cheaper ingredients no idea.

Absolutely agree with stu magoo, Looking forward to my proper meal, and not what I had. This is what I got when I ordered it. Super noodles with a bit of chicken and beef, Little chunks of something that's, I don't know what, maybe they just added to make it taste nice, but very, very bland. Maybe the noodles didn't want to perform on my visit. The curry sauce in a pot saved the day I suppose, but it's not very nice to add a curry sauce to a chew mein that you have already ordered, that Back tracks the idea of having a tasty Chinese meal. And having the curry sauce as extra, so you can dip your crackers in ( pun included) I haven't been to Sammys for about 10 years, and I must say, that it's gone down hill a very long way to be honest. There are better takeaways than this in the surrounding areas, but was really excited about going to a institutional Chinese that's been there since I was a kid. Very very very disappointed about my meal, Wish I could take a picture, that would give the super noodle brand a plug. Better off avoiding to be honest. And Sammys, before you reply, that's if you do reply ? if you did good meals and not skip on the product that it's supposed to be, maybe your ratings and your actual food taste reviews might go up. I only gave you 1 star to comment to be honest, if it was down to zero I'd give you minus zero, In my words only, dreadful. Avoid at all costs.

Avoid compared to other Chinese takeaways in Cardiff, fried rice was oily, "King prawn" dish had the tiniest prawns in them which I'm convinced aren't king at all, and the chow mien was basically dry noodles. Would upload the photos of what they sent us but there seems to be no option

Ordered a meal chicken and spring onion when I got home it was prawn and vegetables when I phoned and told them.he said in will phone you back in 5 mins 20 mins later I phoned them and he putbtje phone down on me .. let's get in th he car and take it back myself... RUBBISH

I took a chance and it paid off! Singapore noodle dish but I asked for roast duck in it - flippin lursh! Worth every penny

I've been eating here for decades. The food was always great but now it's terrible. The portions have decreased and the price has increased. Not only that, the quality has decreased too. I would stay away. However, I would recommend Chop Suey house in Albany road or the one opposite, Happy House. Great portions.

If you want a cup of salt in your food then this is the place to go

Just to ensure I don't order from there again by mistake......pretty sure the chow mein was made with super noodles, you don't forget what super noodles taste like and that was super noodles mun!!!!

Ordered take away on 27th October- and was v disappointed with the quality. Vegetable chow menu had virtually no vegetables and noodles looked and tasted like v cheap instant noodles. All food was beige and flavourless except for the crispy seaweed which was so heavily covered in sugar that it was inedible. Will not be returning and advise all with tastebuds to avoid!

Been having our meals from Sammys for about 40 years now. Never go to any other Chinese takeaway. No complaints here! Well done Sammy😊

I've been going to Sammys for many many years. However the food over the last year hasn't been very good. Ordered my usual chicken with green peppers in satay sauce. The chicken recently seems to be poached which is ok as it keeps soft however it needs to be cooked for longer. The last few times it has been gelatinous to the point last week of being pink and undercooked. Had to throw it away unfortunately. If your going to poach chicken please cook it longer. Probably will go elsewhere now which is a huge disappointment as been using Sammys since I was a kid.

Collected a takeaway from Sammys following good reviews about the quality and our favourite Chinese still being closed as a result of the Chinese new year celebrations. Ordered a small takeaway consisting of special fried rice and spare ribs... The special fried rice - 98% rice (probably 4 or 5 small pieces of various meats) laced in some vile gravy that has no business on a Chinese dish. The ribs - flavourless minute pieces of I don't know what. Will not be returning.

Food is always reliably good with fresh ingredients. The portions are generous and the staff are pleasant.

We were very disappointed with our Special Chow Mein and King Prawns In Ginger and Spring Onion. The chow Mein contained cubes of processed ham and very soggy noodles. The king prawns tasted okay but the whole dish was ruined by a huge amount of white onions. I took it back and the owner obviously thought I was fussy. He did not agree that his ‘special’ noodles were not in my view ‘special’. So that was a huge waste. We are local and I remember why I haven’t visited in 15 years. Sorry Sammy’s Chinese perhaps we were unlucky but I won’t be back again.

Food was tasteless .. shreadded beef was dry and hard .. what a waste of money .. threw food out ..

The meat eaters really enjoyed this takeaway as the portions were large and the flavours were very good. However, as a vegetarian, the dishes were poor. I ordered a veg chow mein and a veg black Bean sauce and there were almost no veg in either! There were about 5 pieces of green pepper then the rest was just Onion amd watwr chestnuts. There should be two types of peppers or carrot or broccoli. I would order from them again as a second chance and ask them to actually out veg in the veg options as the sauces were very tasty. Good value if eating meat too
