China Garden in Cardiff

Some dishes are a bit hit and miss but I always come back.

Our usual weekly place to order from, never a problem minus the vile, cold and hard frozen chips. Different person on the phone this time (this was a woman) who couldn't really understand. Told us 3 different prices, to then ring me again and give another price and then the delivery driver turned up with a different price altogether! Called restaurant to find out whats happened, after a very lengthy and difficult conversation the woman SCREAMS at us " YOU NO CALL AGAIN " so I haven't, I've gone to Lee's Takeaway on Whitchurch road and the food is FAR FAR BETTER and the service is amazing. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!

Huge portions and the food arrived piping hot. Chicken curry was especially delicious. Would recommend!

Have not used in about 7 years as I moved away from the area. I was passing and ordered some food. It was just like I remembered, food was immense and sweet and sour chicken balls were huge.

Just had a delivery couldn't eat the chips, couldn't eat the chow main, in the bin!

Very bad. Couldn't eat it. Never ever again. All tasted wrong.

Chicken balls in batter tasted like fish. Fried rice also had a fishy tang to it. Waste of money. Definitely not recommended

Collection - Ordered at takeaway. Only 10-15mins wait. Vegetable Chow Mein, Singapore Chow Mein, Salt and Chilli Chicken and chips. Prawn Crackers thrown in free. Food was delicious. Definitely will be ordering from them again! Highly recommend!

We used to order from here all the time, these were are locals for an amazing Chinese. The last 2 times we have ordered from have we have been very disappointed. They have changed everything, down the sauces and food it all tastes different and cheap. They need to go back to the old menu, curry sauce has changed and has gone from sweet to spicy with a horrible taste.. everyone of their chowmeins have changed and they have now out a thick sauce through it which isn't nice at all.

We ordered duck chow mien which was tasteless and greasy, the sauce was thick and gloopy. The salt and chilli ribs were also not good. The side of broccoli in garlic sauce looked like nothing I have ever ordered before. The broccoli it self was turning yellow. A waste of money and will not be ordering again.

Ordered a take away for Saturday evening. Wish we didn’t bother. Both had roast duck chow mien. The duck was fatty and limited, the sauce was thick, gloopy and tasteless. Salt and chilli spare ribs were tiny and I mean tiny. Broccoli in garlic sauce. Omg te broccoli was a pale green where it had been overcooked. A waste of money and wouldn’t order from here again.

I asked for beef with bamboo shoots, took my meal home and found I had beef with beansprouts. Next time I want a take-away meal I'll buy it somewhere else.

This chinese take away in Cardiff is my favourite place to eat in the world. Firstly the food, its honest tasty and good. My comfort food is always, Pancake roll,fried rice or chicken fried rice if its my birthday, curry sauce and barbecued spare ribs. I always recieve a free something,prawn crackers or, " addictive fortune cookies"! Secondly the staff. As a customer, I want to be treated like I am special, with respect and as a friend and the staff here certainly show me that. There is a relatively new member of staff, cook, front of house, delivery driver and general all rounder and I love her so much! Her name is Ginney. She makes my life special and I love her so much!! "She looks after me" and I feel it. My top tip, the Pancake roll.I eat these where ever I find them in the world and this China garden Pancake roll is very, very special! Only costing a couple of quid,wrapped in a handy grease proof paper bag it becomes the perfect street food to munch on your way home.

Ordered a chicken chow mein and crispy beef and told 20 min delivery, fab. 55 mins later I take the order in and it’s 2 egg fried rice and a crispy beef?? Tried this place for the first time as live locally, won’t be trying again.

Always nice food and plenty of it.

Since the change of owners a few years ago the standard of the food has gone from excellent, to being very variable. It can be good one day but awful another day, so be prepared for an ok good meal or total disappointment.

Was sent wrong order (asked for no veg). Told we could keep that portion and another one will be sent out. The lady who is apparently the boss knocked my door and asked for the other portion back. A small amount had been eaten due to being told we could keep it and told her that it was in the bin. She asked for it out of the bin, opened it up and was shouting 'you eat!!! 'You eat'!!!! Disgusting behaviour when they were at fault!!!!!!!!!

Ordered beef chow menu sent me chicken didn’t touch it as I hate chicken tried to call them numerous times no answer! Extremely unhappy

Really disappointed in the food we received. The chicken within the rice was dry and you could tell that it had been around for a while, the chips where also very dry and hard. Had not used them for a while and we thought we would give them another try, needless to say things havent changed and we wont be going back again.. shame.

Dont order if your very hungry, delivery was ages considering we live local and were unable to collect. Disapointing!

This was my first visit here for years as I have moved away from the area and returned only because my local Chinese was closed. I ordered for the family and had four meals, boiled and fried rice, curry sauce and pancake roll. The food was prepared relatively quickly and because my order exceeded £30, I had free prawn crackers and mini spring rolls. The food was lovely and each family member commented on the quality of the meal. The portions were generous and was great value for money. I will be using this take away in the future, despite the distance from home!

Such a great chinese! Has definitely improved over the years! Yummy food and never have to wait too long. Portion sizes are generous especially for the prices! Read some of the reviews and they’re not great and i’m surprised as to be honest I’m a fussy person when it comes to picking where to eat but this place is lovely, would recommend!

Food wasn't great but was very fast delivery and staff are polite asked if they done shredded chicken they said yes so ordered it but it wasn't shredded chicken.

One of the worst takeaways I have ever eaten. The batter was gloopy. The rice was overcooked. The sweet and sour sauce was sickly sweet. The prawns with water chestnut was flavourless apart from a slightly acrid smell. The prawn crackers were good, but I ended up throwing most of the food away

Food is lovely been having it monthly for over a year. You get free poppadoms and or spring rolls... they do good boxes with noodles and sauce for a few quid.

Had a delivery tonight and the food was fantastic, very impressed. Spare ribs were great.

Ordered food at 6.30pm. Told to collect for 7pm. Waited in the shop until 7.40pm to be given the order with the wrong items. During that 40 minutes in the shop, so many people had returned to complain, wrong order or wrong item. Very disappointed and won’t be returning.

Awful ..thick congealed noodles, “ false” chicken 1/4 of a mushroom! Tasteless waste of money! Won’t be returning.

The food was amazing but last night it was the left overs from thrusday night and I was in A&E last night being sick and today I will never come to your company every again I will make sure that people will never go to u ever again. Your food was nasty me and my partner being sick and my little boy was eating it and he was being sick as well. I will make sure that your company is getting shut down and u have 5 star in your restaurant it is shocking and we spend £30 pounds on your Chinese.

Food was ok at a stretch. Definitely not going back though. No way worth the £10.50.

2/5 - nothing special. Watery chow mein, the ribs were 'ok' though. Not worth £10.50 at all. Will choose to go somewhere else next time.

He comido desde aquí dos veces, y ambas veces he estado muy contento con la calidad. El tamaño de las porciones es generoso, por lo que probablemente solo podríamos usar una porción de fideos entre dos de nosotros. He tenido la carne de vaca Szechaun y también la carne crujiente peking. La esposa ha comido la carne crujiente agridulce dos veces y dice que sabe mucho más fresca que muchos lugares que hemos pedido anteriormente. El rollo de panqueques también es muy bueno.

Tuve comida de aquí y sabía absolutamente terrible, pero oye, estaba hambriento, seguí comiendo y encontré el cabello más grande de mi comida. Cuando volvieron a llamar para aclarar la situación, trataron de decir que nunca tuvieron una entrega en esta área. Qué absoluto mejilla Lo peor de China que he comido y el peor servicio al cliente que jamás haya recibido

Hemos estado buscando un buen restaurante chino en North West Cardiff después de que The Great Wall en Llandaff City cerró tristemente en febrero de 2017 y así lo intentamos en China Garden en Llandaff North. Esta es otra comida china que vende comida blanda y suave con un poco de carne rellenada por masas de castañas de agua en lata, brotes de bambú y cebollas cocinadas parcialmente en un caldo acuoso al que le agregan lo que sea para hacer el sabor requerido. Pobre esfuerzo: no te molestes.

We've been looking for a good Chinese Takeaway in North West Cardiff after The Great Wall in Llandaff City sadly closed in February 2017 and so tried the China Garden in Llandaff North. This is yet another Chinese takeaway that sells gloppy bland food with a little bit of meat padded out by masses of tinned water chestnuts, bamboo shoots and parlty cooked onions in some watery stock to which they add whatever to make the required taste. Poor effort: don't bother.

Tried to phone in an order, but the lady who answered didn't speak English very well at all. When we asked if a dish contained wheat, they told us that all of their food does.

Absolutely amazing food from China Garden... the quality is consistent and SO much better than your average Chinese takeaway. You can taste the love that goes into their food. The spare ribs and Singapore-style noodles are honestly the best I've ever had. Great value, you will fall in love with this food :-)

The beef in black Bean sauce is the worst i have ever tasted i would not recommend to anyone so don't waste your money

Okay food but not as nice as what it has been over the years, worth a visit most think of it as marmite love it or hate it but overall good value for takeaway!

Hace muchos años usaba este lugar todo el tiempo. Se hizo muy popular, tan popular que cuando me llamó para hacer que una orden y dijeron que 20 minutos y nos salió a esperar una hora unas pocas veces me cayó como una piedra. Yo no era el único. El lugar se convirtió en tierra de un yermo residuos comparado con su apogeo cuando se estaba parado-habitación solamente y no a causa de la comida, pero el servicio. De todos modos, recientemente, que me dieron a mí misma y pedimos algo de comida por primera vez en muchos años. La comida era abundante, caliente y bien preparada y condimentada y a tiempo. Muy sabroso. Espero que llegue a ser tan popular como lo era hace una década y si no es sólo emplea más chefs para mantener los estándares de servicio. Pruébalo.

Been going here for years now, every Other Chinese takeaway doesn't compare ! The chicken balls are absolutely amazing and the noodles and rice absolutely delicious. Only problem is they don't deliver , it's only collection but the food is amazing nonetheless :D
